CAPTURER: A Dexterous Aerial Manipulator for Dynamic and Precise Grasping across Diverse Environments

Meng Wang, Jindou Jia, Sicheng Zhou, Zeshuai Chen, Kexin Guo, Xiang Yu, Lei Guo

As a representative form of embodied robotic interaction, aerial grasping requires close coordination between the aerial platform and manipulator. Most existing systems perform aerial grasping with static or slowly moving targets under fixed scenarios. Dynamic and precise grasping across different conditions introduces additional challenges, including target motion, localization drift, dynamic coupling, and external disturbances. In this work, we present CAPTURER, a dexterous aerial manipulator for centimeter-level grasping across diverse environments. To achieve the challenging goal, we first develop an onboard perception system for state estimation and target detection. Drift correction and global pose transformation are introduced to improve target localization during flight. A cooperative motion planner is proposed to coordinate the mobility of the aerial platform with the dexterity of the manipulator according to the relative target state. To maintain grasping accuracy under disturbances, we design a disturbance-rejection controller to compensate for dynamic coupling, model uncertainty, and external disturbances. The capability of CAPTURER is validated through indoor and outdoor experiments with both static and moving targets. The results demonstrate that CAPTURER achieves centimeter-level grasping accuracy for a marker pen measuring only 1.5 cm in diameter at flight speeds exceeding 1.5 m/s.

How Much Do You Trust A Dog? Quantifying Hint-Following in Reasoning Language Models

Anxin Guo, Chirag Pabbaraju, Sara Ahmadian, Kamesh Munagala, Aravindan Vijayaraghavan

Large language models (LLMs) often exhibit sycophancy, altering their answers to align with user suggestions even on objective factual and reasoning tasks. Yet the quantitative form of this influence--- and whether it is calibrated to source reliability--- remains poorly understood. In this work, we investigate this behavior through hint-induced answer shifts on MMLU questions, evaluating prompts of the form ``[Source] thinks the answer is (X)''. We systematically vary the source to which the hint is attributed (a professor, a friend, or a dog) across three open-source model families, Qwen, Gemma, and SmolLM. We show that the change induced by the hint follows a predictable structure well-characterized by an exponential tilt: the hint induces an approximately constant mean shift in the hinted answer's log-odds, with question--target susceptibility largely shared across sources. To explore how this pattern can arise, we introduce a formal decomposition of the hint response and illustrate in controlled synthetic experiments how KL-regularized reward-based training reshapes both hinted and unhinted answer distributions. Finally, we evaluate whether this shift is calibrated to source reliability, finding that the log-odds shift persists even when the hint-giver is declared inaccurate or accompanied by explicit warnings not to trust the source, highlighting the vulnerability of LLMs to adversarial steering.

Scaling Verifiable Environments for Long-horizon Work Agents

Jiazheng Zhang, Long Ma, Yunxian Yang, Zhiheng Xi, Zhikai Lei, Yajie Yang, Chenyang Liao, Enyu Zhou 等 26 位作者

Work agents operate over digital artifacts to execute professional knowledge-intensive work, requiring training environments that support long-horizon interaction and trustworthy verification. However, hand-crafted environments incur prohibitive engineering overhead that prevents environment scaling, whereas synthesis methods sacrifice workspace complexity, realism, or grounded verifiability. To bridge this gap, we introduce WorkForge, a scalable synthesis framework for constructing verifiable work-agent environments from real-world resources. Starting from expert workflows, WorkForge first identifies the resources, decisions, and deliverables required by each workflow. It then retrieves relevant real-world files and organizes them into a workspace. WorkForge inspects the workspace to extract concrete, checkable facts about its content. These factual anchors fix which task types the workspace can support and how their outcomes can be verified. Therefore, WorkForge derives each task's instructions, solution plan, and complementary programmatic and semantic verifiers directly from these factual anchors, keeping verification traceable to observable workspace evidence. Furthermore, we construct 16.7K verifiable environments across 40 professional domains, with workspaces collectively covering 60 file types. Post-training Qwen3.5-35B-A3B-Base improves GDPVal from 45.5 to 73.6 and APEX Score from 5.0 to 21.3, while enabling Qwen3.5-27B to achieve highly competitive performance and outperform strong competitors. Our analyses confirm the efficacy of the proposed method and reveal consistent scaling behaviors across both data volume and interaction horizons.

From Belief Inference to Task Action: A Multi-Level Evaluation of Theory of Mind on Verifiable Tasks

Zhenshuai Yin, Yongxin Guo, Mingda Zhang, Zhongze Luo, Haoyue Liu, Lianmin Zhang, Xiaoying Tang

Effective collaboration requires language models to understand what others know and believe, and to act accordingly. Models that assume others share their information may omit necessary communication and undermine coordination. Many theory-of-mind (ToM) benchmarks assess mental-state inference through story questions, but correct answers do not establish that models can use these judgments in subsequent tasks. We introduce a multi-level evaluation built on existing, verifiable tasks. We extend household collaboration and calendar scheduling with asymmetric information while retaining their original constraints and validators. Independent interfaces assess world understanding, information access, beliefs, decisions, and execution. Controls supply personal evidence or correct beliefs to distinguish state recovery from state use. Across six model configurations, these abilities diverge. On matched scheduling cases, Claude recovers all agent beliefs correctly but produces subjectively optimal plans in only 67.9% of cases. In household collaboration, supplying beliefs raises Qwen-27B success from 55.0% to 75.0%, yet Qwen-4B answers every fixed supplied-belief source question correctly while completing only 20.0% of the corresponding continuation condition. These results show why ToM evaluation must connect perspective inference to independently verified decisions and task consequences.

LADDER: Diagnosing Domain-Level Self-Assessment Under Noisy Feedback

Zhenshuai Yin, Jianshu Liang, Xuyue Xiong, Yongxin Guo, Mingda Zhang, Zhongze Luo, Haoyue Liu, Lianmin Zhang 等 9 位作者

Knowing when they are reliable is essential for language models to support human-AI collaboration. Yet interaction feedback is not always complete or correct, and may mislead models' understanding of their own capabilities. We introduce LADDER to study how language models assess themselves under unreliable feedback. Our findings show that models can accurately report supplied performance information while still struggling to form trustworthy self-assessments from interaction experience. Apparently accurate assessments can obscure capability differences and do not necessarily predict future task performance. These findings suggest that trustworthy self-assessment should be evaluated against observed task performance and its predictive value. Our study provides empirical evidence of the limits of model self-knowledge and a basis for evaluating capability awareness in reliable human-AI collaboration.

Counteracting the Matthew Effect in Self-Improvement of LVLMs through Head-Tail Re-balancing

Xin Guo, Zhiheng Xi, Yiwen Ding, Yitao Zhai Meituan, Xiaowei Shi, Xunliang Cai Meituan, Tao Gui Fudan University, Qi Zhang Fudan University 等 9 位作者

Self-improvement has emerged as a mainstream paradigm for advancing the reasoning capabilities of large vision–language models (LVLMs), where models explore and learn from successful trajectories iteratively. However, we identify a critical imbalance during this process: the model readily generates high-quality trajectories for simple queries (i.e., head data) but struggles with complex ones (i.e., tail data). This bias drives the optimization to disproportionately prioritize simple reasoning skills, while inhibiting the acquisition of complex capabilities. As iterations progress, this imbalance becomes more acute—a dynamic we term the “Matthew effect”, ultimately stalling performance gains. To mitigate this, we approach head-tail re-balance during the exploration-and-learning process from two perspectives: distribution-reshaping and trajectory-resampling. Extensive experiments on Qwen2-VL-7B-Instruct and InternVL2.5-4B models across visual reasoning tasks demonstrate that our methods consistently improve visual reasoning capabilities, outperforming vanilla self-improvement baselines by an average of 3.86 points.

JanusMM: A Benchmark for Self-Deprecation Understanding in Real-World Multimodal Conversations

Xinyi Xu, Bingguang Hao ByteDance Inc., Yongyi Xiong, Zimo Chen University of Science and Technology of China, Xinchen Liu, Hongxin Guo, Xuelong Wang, Silin Zhou 等 9 位作者

Self-deprecation is a prevalent communicative strategy in human society, often using image-text interplay to express emotions and intentions. Despite self-deprecation is widespread in real-world conversations, the ability of multimodal large language models (MLLMs) to understand it remains underexplored. To fill this gap, we introduce JanusMM, the first benchmark designed to evaluate MLLMs’ understanding of self-deprecation in real-world conversations. JanusMM contains 2,016 bilingual memes from three types of social interactions and provides a dual-task evaluation framework with six new metrics. The first task assesses MLLMs’ abilities in self-deprecation recognition and reasoning, while the second task evaluates the consistency of their understanding by simulating the perspectives of the initiator and responder. We evaluate ten frontier MLLMs and find that they exhibit weak recognition and reasoning abilities, with their understanding of self-deprecation remaining inconsistent across both perspectives.

UniSonate: A Unified Model for Speech, Music, and Sound Effect Generation with Text Instructions

Generative audio modeling has largely been fragmented into specialized tasks, text-to-speech (TTS), text-to-music (TTM), and text-to-audio (TTA), each operating under heterogeneous control paradigms. Unifying these modalities remains a fundamental challenge due to the intrinsic dissonance between structured semantic representations (speech/music) and unstructured acoustic textures (sound effects). In this paper, we introduce UniSonate, a unified flow-matching framework capable of synthesizing speech, music, and sound effects through a standardized, reference-free natural language instruction interface. To reconcile structural disparities, we propose a novel dynamic token injection mechanism that projects unstructured environmental sounds into a structured temporal latent space, enabling precise duration control within a phoneme-driven Multimodal Diffusion Transformer (MM-DiT). Coupled with a multi-stage curriculum learning strategy, this approach effectively mitigates cross-modal optimization conflicts. Extensive experiments demonstrate that UniSonate achieves state-of-the-art performance in instruction-based TTS (WER 1.47%) and TTM (SongEval Coherence 3.18), while maintaining competitive fidelity in TTA. Crucially, we observe positive transfer, where joint training on diverse audio data significantly enhances structural coherence and prosodic expressiveness compared to single-task baselines.

JurisBench: A Deep Benchmark for Assessing Large Language Models in Professional Legal Practice

Ziang Chen Tsinghua University, Guannan Li, Fanlin Ji, Yipeng Kang National Key Laboratory of General Artificial Intelligence, Jiaqi Li Beijing Institute for General Artificial Intelligence, Muhan Zhang Peking University, Yangtao Zhang, Li Tianjiao 等 12 位作者

Large Language Models (LLMs) have demonstrated strong cross-domain capabilities, yet their competence in specialized professional tasks remains underexamined. Existing legal benchmarks evaluate isolated tasks or exam-style questions, failing to capture the procedural interdependencies and adjudicative rigor inherent in professional practice. To bridge this gap, we construct JurisBench, a vertical, depth-oriented, domain-specific benchmark designed to evaluate LLMs across key stages of Chinese civil litigation. JurisBench introduces a Linear Depth Simulation track that mirrors the cognitive workflow of professional judges through four sequential, dependency-aware phases: Cause of Action prediction, Focus of Disputes identification, Rationale of the Judgment generation, and Result of the Judgment determination. Results reveal an “illusion of competence”: state-of-the-art models exhibit marked performance degradation in end-to-end pipelines due to cascading error propagation. We identify precise statutory grounding as a persistent bottleneck, highlighting a critical gap between fluent linguistic output and judicial reliability. JurisBench shifts evaluation from isolated legal knowledge to workflow-level task execution, providing a diagnostic framework for legal AI and a template for benchmark design in specialized domains.

AgentGym2: Benchmarking Large Language Model Agents in De-Idealized Real-World Environments

Zhiheng Xi, Dingwen Yang, Jiaqi Liu, Jixuan Huang Fudan University, Honglin Guo Fudan University, Baodai Huang, Tinggang Chen, Qi Zhang 等 25 位作者

Language agents, i.e., LLM agents, progress rapidly and are increasingly deployed in production environments. This trend underscores the urgent need for rigorous and realistic evaluations. However, most existing benchmarks evaluate agents in simplified, idealized settings. They typically rely on pre-packaged tool interfaces, overlook critical steps, and assume inputs are clean and fully specified. Consequently, they understate the difficulty of real deployments, where uncertainty and noise are ubiquitous and agents must proactively explore the environment to uncover new tools. To bridge this gap, we present AgentGym2, a new evaluation framework with task instances grounded in real-world end-to-end working demands. Beyond reasoning and planning, it measures agents’ ability to execute end-to-end procedures, discover tools via exploration, compose tools for unseen tasks, and remain robust to noisy and underspecified information. Experiments on 15 proprietary and open-source models show that even SOTA systems like Gemini and GPT-5 struggle on AgentGym2, revealing a substantial gap between the capability of current agents and the demands of real-world applications.

G^2RPO-A: Guided Group Relative Policy Optimization with Adaptive Guidance

Yongxin Guo ByteDance Inc., Wenbo Deng, Zhenglin Cheng Westlake University, Xiaoying Tang The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen

Reinforcement Learning with Verifiable Rewards (RLVR) has markedly enhanced the reasoning abilities of large language models (LLMs). Its success, however, largely depends on strong base models with rich world knowledge, yielding only modest improvements for small-size language models (SLMs). To address this limitation, we investigate Guided GRPO, which injects ground-truth reasoning steps into roll-out trajectories to compensate for SLMs’ inherent weaknesses. Through a comprehensive study of various guidance configurations, we find that naively adding guidance delivers limited gains. These insights motivate G^2RPO-A, an adaptive algorithm that automatically adjusts guidance strength in response to the model’s evolving training dynamics. Experiments on mathematical reasoning and code-generation benchmarks confirm that G^2RPO-A substantially outperforms vanilla GRPO. Our code and models at available at https://github.com/T-Lab-CUHKSZ/G2RPO-A.

Adaptive Prompt Structure Factorization: A Framework for Self-Discovering and Optimizing Compositional Prompt Programs

Haoyue Liu, Zhichao Wang, Yongxin Guo ByteDance Inc., Haoran Shou, Xiaoying Tang The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen

Automated prompt optimization is crucial for eliciting reliable reasoning from large language models (LLMs), yet most API-only prompt optimizers iteratively edit monolithic prompts, coupling components and obscuring credit assignment, limiting controllability, and wasting tokens. We propose Adaptive Prompt Structure Factorization (aPSF), an API-only framework (prompt-in/text-out; no access to model internals) that uses an Architect model to discover task-specific prompt structures as semantic factors. aPSF then performs interventional, single-factor updates: interventional factor-level scoring estimates each factor’s marginal contribution via validation-performance changes, and error-guided factor selection routes updates to the current dominant failure source for more sample-efficient optimization. Across multiple advanced reasoning benchmarks, aPSF outperforms strong baselines, improving accuracy by up to +4.29 percentage points on average, and reduces optimization cost by 45–87% tokens on MultiArith while reaching peak validation in 1 step.

The GaoYao Benchmark: A Comprehensive Framework for Evaluating Multilingual and Multicultural Abilities of Large Language Models

Yilun Liu Huawei Technologies Ltd., Chunguang Zhao Huawei Technologies Ltd., Mengyao Piao Huawei Technologies Ltd., Lingqi Miao nanjing university, Shimin Tao, Minggui HE Huawei Technologies Ltd., Chenxin Liu, Zhang Li 等 17 位作者

Evaluating the multilingual and multicultural capabilities of Large Language Models (LLMs) is essential for their global utility. However, current benchmarks face three critical limitations: (1) fragmented evaluation dimensions that often neglect deep cultural nuances; (2) insufficient language coverage in subjective tasks relying on low-quality machine translation; and (3) shallow analysis that lacks diagnostic depth beyond simple rankings. To address these, we introduce GaoYao, a comprehensive benchmark with 182.3k samples, 26 languages and 51 nations/areas. First, GaoYao proposes a unified framework categorizing evaluation tasks into three cultural layers (General Multilingual, Cross-cultural, Monocultural) and nine cognitive sub-layers. Second, we achieve native-quality expansion by leveraging experts to rigorously localize subjective benchmarks into 19 languages and synthesizing cross-cultural test sets for 34 cultures, surpassing prior coverage by up to 111%. Third, we conduct an in-depth diagnostic analysis on 20+ flagship and compact LLMs. Our findings reveal significant geographical performance disparities and distinct gaps between tasks, offering a reliable map for future work. We release the benchmark.
