DEQ-Det: Dual Evidence Queries for Few-Shot Analog IC Device Detection

Zidong Zhao, Rong Huang, Chengxing Fan, Jie Hu, Malik Haris, Ghazal A. Fahmy, Morteza Mousazadeh, Guoqiang Zhang

Detecting analog integrated circuit (IC) devices in layout images supports circuit analysis and inspection. With only a few annotated examples, variation in device geometry and visual similarity to dummy or routing structures make reliable detection difficult. Foreground similarity alone can highlight plausible targets without distinguishing them from competing layout patterns. We propose Dual Evidence Queries for Detection (DEQ-Det), which constructs complementary foreground and background references from the same support images without additional annotations. Foreground references capture target morphology, while selected background references characterize surrounding layout patterns. Both sources guide query selection and region verification, combining target appearance with layout context. Across five held-out device categories and three random seeds, DEQ-Det achieves macro AP50 of 39.41 and 53.03 at 10 and 30 shots, exceeding the strongest listed baselines by 3.97 and 9.71 points, respectively. A matched 30-shot ablation further shows that RoI background evidence reduces pooled false positives at comparable recall, supporting its role in interference suppression.

SceneAgent: An Agentic Pipeline from 3D and 4D Captures to Simulation Environments

Luke Hollis, Tianxing Fan, Heng Yang

Visual captures provide detailed scene appearance, but converting them into interactive simulation environments requires object reconstruction, physical modeling, and correction of intermediate errors. We present SceneAgent, an agentic pipeline that coordinates these steps through simulator-based visual inspection and repair. The pipeline processes 3D Gaussian Splatting (3DGS), photogrammetry, LiDAR captures, AI-generated 3DGS scenes, and 4D videos of dynamic scenes, and combines object segmentation, physical parameter estimation, part decomposition, articulation, and deformable simulation. To support policy learning, SceneAgent generates diverse object variants ("digital sisters") and scripted demonstrations. On a cluttered bin scene from GraspClutter6D, SceneAgent raises F1 at 1 cm for every coding agent with scorable outputs both with and without its skills, and its reconstructions are better than SimFoundry: all agent configurations exceed SimFoundry's F1 score, with a best of 60.75% versus 6.9%. On three dynamic scenes from 4DCodeBench, SceneAgent raises the mean dynamic IoU of Gemini 4 Argon from 0.86% to 99.09%. We further demonstrate diverse simulated interactions and preliminary policy transfer to a real robot.

Stop Hardening Everything: A Training-Free Neuron-Level Defense for Neural Ranking Models

Yu-An Liu, Ruqing Zhang Institute of Computing Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Hongru Song , Chinese Academy of Sciences, Jiafeng Guo Institute of Computing Technolgy, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Yixing Fan, Xueqi Cheng Institute of Computing Technology, Chinese Academy

While neural ranking models (NRMs) have achieved state-of-the-art performance in information retrieval, they remain highly vulnerable to imperceptible adversarial perturbations. Existing defenses are predominantly data-centric, exemplified by adversarial training, which requires constructing large collections of adversarial examples. By treating NRMs as black boxes and indiscriminately optimizing all model parameters, these methods incur substantial computational cost and often degrade performance on clean data due to overfitting. In this paper, we advocate that adversarial vulnerability is not uniformly distributed across model parameters, but instead originates from specific internal units. We propose a paradigm shift toward a model-centric defense that addresses vulnerability at its architectural source, without requiring costly retraining or adversarial data generation. Specifically, we introduce Search in the Model, a novel training-free framework that performs fine-grained identification and rectification of vulnerable neurons directly within the model. By formulating neuron identification as a ranking problem, we develop a maximum marginal vulnerability criterion to precisely locate the top-K neurons most responsible for model vulnerability, and apply targeted neuronal inverse perturbation to correct them. Extensive experiments on MS MARCO and TREC 19 show that our approach outperforms state-of-the-art baselines in both defense efficiency and robustness to seen and unseen attacks, while preserving strong performance on clean data.

Compete to Complete: Co-opetition Adversarial Learning for Retrieval-Augmented Generation

Xin Liu , Chinese Academy of Sciences, Yu-An Liu, Ruqing Zhang Institute of Computing Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Yixing Fan, Lixin Su Baidu, Jiafeng Guo Institute of Computing Technolgy, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Xueqi Cheng Institute of Computing Technology, Chinese Academy

Retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) has emerged as a promising paradigm for mitigating hallucinations in large language models (LLMs).However, the intrinsic heterogeneity between the retriever and the generator often leads to a mismatch between retrieved evidence and generation needs, hindering effective coordination. We argue that competition between discriminative retrieval and generative modeling can more effectively expose their mutual weaknesses and induce deeper interaction. Motivated by this insight, we propose CARL (Co-opetition AdveRsarial Learning), a framework that formulates retriever–generator training in RAG as a minimax game. In this game, the retriever is optimized to retrieve both useful and adversarially useless documents to challenge the generator, while the generator learns to identify useful evidence and remain robust to misleading retrievals to produce accurate answers.Experiments on seven benchmark datasets demonstrate that CARL consistently improves RAG performance, validating the effectiveness of adversarial co-opetition in enhancing retriever–generator synergy.

Analyzing and Internalizing Complex Policy Documents for LLM Agents

Jiateng Liu, Zhenhailong Wang, Xiaojiang Huang Amazon, Yingjie Li Amazon, Xiang Li Amazon, Chenlei Guo Amazon, Xing Fan, Ruhi Sarikaya 等 9 位作者

Large language model agents rely on in-context policy documents encoding diverse business rules. As businesses scale, these documents grow, creating substantial computational overhead and motivating internalization methods that embed policy into model priors. Prior work focuses on generic prompts, but we find agentic policies span multiple complexity levels and demand heavier reasoning, posing greater challenges. We introduce an agentic benchmark generator with Controllable Complexity in agent policy across four levels, enabling systematic evaluation of agents under increasing complexity and providing a testbed for policy internalization. Our analysis shows that workflow-governing policy specifications are the hardest to reason over, and that SFT on gold trajectories with chain-of-thought is data-hungry and struggles at high complexity. We propose Category-Aware Policy Continued Pretraining, an automated pipeline that analyzes policies, extracts key specifications, categorizes them into factual, behavioral, and conditional types, and isolates those driving workflow complexity. This enables targeted “therapy” by synthesizing specialized training data for each type and improving internalization via an autoregressive pretraining loss. Extensive experiments show our synthetic data and objective consistently improve performance. Combined with SFT, our method outperforms the baseline across different settings, especially in data-sparse and high-complexity regimes, with gains up to 41% and 22% on Qwen-3-32B. Overall, we achieve 97.3% prompt reduction on our benchmark, and on \tau-Bench we further improve performance while reducing prompt requirements with very limited SFT data.
