MoLRSI: A Recursive Self-Improving AI agent for Molecular Discovery

Yikun Zhang, Xiwei Cheng, Mingze Yuan, Yu Zhang, Brian Shim, Aarti Krishnan, Daniel Rosen, Kunyang Sun 等 18 位作者

Molecular discovery requires navigating vast combinatorial search spaces while balancing competing biological objectives. AI agents can automate expert-defined molecular design protocols, but automation alone does not address how to optimize workflows for new tasks or improve their development through experience. Here we introduce MoLRSI, an AI agent that combines systematic optimization of workflows and model architectures with persistent cross-task memory to recursively improve its search policy for molecular discovery. Workflow performance, refinement outcomes, and execution feedback guide subsequent searches, allowing the agent to improve both its workflows and its strategy for developing them. We evaluate MoLRSI in two challenging molecular discovery settings that require balancing competing properties. In antibiotic discovery, MoLRSI developed a screening workflow balancing antibacterial activity, cytotoxicity and structural novelty, achieving an experimental hit rate of 15.9%, compared with 8.7% for a previous expert-led workflow using the same training data and screening library. In de novo peptide-MHC binder design, MoLRSI developed workflows that jointly consider target binding and specificity, producing eight experimentally validated hits against MART-1 and SARS-CoV-1 pMHCs with preferential binding over tested off-targets while Claude Science completely failed. These findings demonstrate how experience-guided workflow optimization can address competing discovery objectives while improving the search strategies used in subsequent campaigns.

Cross-Primitive Consistency in Jev

Xu Liu, Guikun Chen, Kanzhi Wu, Wenguan Wang

Jev enables efficient decision-making with large language models (LLMs) through typed querying primitives, allowing the same semantic state to be expressed in different formats, such as binary and multiple-choice queries. However, the consistency of decisions across primitives has not been systematically evaluated. This work introduces PrimaCons, a four-axis benchmark for assessing cross-primitive consistency while preserving the semantics of the query. Evaluations across three Jev sizes reveal consistency violations across all four axes. Our analysis shows that these violations follow systematic patterns and that cross-primitive discrepancies predict decision failure with a ROC-AUC of 0.91. To mitigate these inconsistencies, we propose the Cross-Primitive Residual Calibrator (CPRC), which attaches a lightweight residual network to a frozen backbone and jointly optimizes predictive accuracy and cross-primitive consistency. Under a leave-one-domain-out protocol, CPRC reduces cross-primitive inconsistency by 58.57% and improves accuracy by +2.97%., demonstrating its effectiveness in both in-domain and out-of-domain settings. Our findings establish cross-primitive consistency as a key dimension for evaluating Jev and provide a practical approach to improving the reliability of its decisions. Code and benchmark is available at https://github.com/67L1/PrimaCons-CRPR.

Dual DeltaNet: Value-Side Memory Reorganization for Linear Attention

Yixiao Qian, Yaxin Zhang, Song Chen, Jiaxu Liu, Shengze Cai, Chao Xu

Linear attention and state space models (SSMs) offer efficient alternatives to softmax attention by maintaining a fixed-size recurrent state, but this design requires careful management to preserve useful historical associations and limit interference. The delta rule helps reduce interference through correction of the value associated with each key, but it does not explicitly account for how related value features are distributed across the state. We observe that a state $\boldsymbol{S}\in\mathbb{R}^{d_k\times d_v}$ can be viewed as a bank of $d_k$ addresses storing $d_v$-dimensional values. While a key-side read $\boldsymbol{S}^\top\boldsymbol{k}$ retrieves the value associated with $\boldsymbol{k}$, a value-side read $\boldsymbol{S}\boldsymbol{e}$ aggregates addresses whose stored value features match the selector $\boldsymbol{e}$. Based on this observation, we propose Dual DeltaNet (DDN), which extends Kimi Delta Attention (KDA) with a two-sided delta rule. The key-side delta rule reads with the current key to correct its associated value, while the complementary value-side delta rule reads with selected features of the current value to reorganize the addresses it occupies. We derive a chunkwise parallel training algorithm and a rank-2 recurrence that increases arithmetic intensity during inference. Compared with KDA, GDN-2, and Mamba-3, DDN achieves the strongest overall performance across language modeling, zero-shot downstream tasks, and retrieval, while incurring modest training and inference overhead relative to KDA. GradCO: Behavior-Aware Gradient-Conflict Offloading for Text-Based Person Anomaly Search

Zhiheng Fu, Zixu Li, Zhiwei Chen, Jiale Huang, Fangxu Liu, Jinhe Bi, Yupeng Hu

Text-based Person Anomaly Search (TPAS) retrieves a target pedestrian using natural-language descriptions of appearance and normal or anomalous behavior. Unlike conventional text-based person retrieval, TPAS must preserve identity cues while distinguishing fine-grained behaviors. It presents two challenges: same-identity, different-behavior hard negatives cause gradient conflict during granular alignment, while strong appearance cues can obscure weak behavioral evidence during aggregation. We propose GradCO (behavior-aware Gradient-Conflict Offloading), comprising three complementary components. Behavior-Aware Mixture-of-Experts (B-MoE) forms appearance, normal-behavior, and anomalous-behavior streams whose roles are learned from retrieval objectives without expert-specific semantic labels. Conflict Offload Learning (COL) uses pair-conditioned offload anchors in similarity computation to reduce the conflicting-gradient burden on the main text representations. Hierarchical Intent Alignment (HIA) aggregates expert similarities and features using query-conditioned weights. Experiments on five TPAS/TIPR benchmarks show GradCO significantly surpasses SOTA methods and validate our design.

Multi-Agent Relay Thinking

Xu Liu, Jungang Qiao, Guikun Chen, Xiaojuan Qi, Wenguan Wang

Existing multi-agent collaboration (MAC) methods have primarily explored a group thinking collaboration topology, where agents independently generate solutions and aggregate their outputs. In this work, we investigate an alternative relay thinking topology, where reasoning ownership is dynamically transferred across agents, allowing subsequent agents to inherit and refine an evolving reasoning trajectory. We introduce Multi-Agent Confidence-guided Relay (MACR), a framework that enables dynamical relay collaboration among agents. The key challenge is determining when reasoning should be relayed and which agent should continue the process. method addresses this challenge through confidence-guided relay triggering and a bidding mechanism that selects the next agent based on its confidence. Experiments on four benchmarks show that method outperforms the strongest single-model strategies in accuracy, e.g., +3.3% on MathVista and +3.9% on MMStar, and remains on par with multi-agent strategies while consuming 6.0x less token overhead on HallusionBench and MMStar. Further analysis demonstrates that relay collaboration enables heterogeneous agents to progressively integrate complementary insights, combining heterogeneous capabilities across reasoning stages. Our source code is available at https://github.com/67L1/MACR.

TaoType: Predicting Fine-Grained Typing Intent for Faster Search

Yipeng Yu, Yichen Yuan, Chengxiao Feng, Xu Liu

“Is the user’s current query input exactly what they intend to search for?” Our work aims to answer this question by determining, at each typing, whether the current query is complete. If so, a search is implicitly triggered in advance without waiting for user confirmation. This approach reduces response time and enhances the user search experience. Specifically, we propose TaoType, a client-side framework that introduces innovation in data sampling, feature selection, model design and training, and online strategy. Experiments in a leading mobile shopping application named Taobao validate its effectiveness, achieving offline precision/recall/accuracy of 0.7936/0.8196/0.7742, respectively, and decreasing online response time by 640.51±93.65 milliseconds, which is of great benefit to the search system. Unlike prior work that focuses on optimizing server-side engineering pipelines or simplifying ranking models, our method leverages client-side typing behavior for real-time early prediction, utilizing on-device computation to gain response time reducing. To the best of our knowledge, our work is the first to identify and address this problem. This work also introduces App Intelligence, a new paradigm for enhancing mobile applications by integrating on-device AI to boost business value and user experience.

Know Your Place: Diagnosing Implicit Social Adaptation Failures in Chinese Large Language Models

Yu Tian, Jie Xing, Ziming Li, Jiang Li, Zehua Duo, Tian Lan, Xu Liu, Guanglai Gao Inner Mongolia University 等 9 位作者

As large language models (LLMs) are increasingly deployed in dialogue systems and interactive agents, their social adaptation during natural interaction has drawn growing attention. While prior work shows strong social regulation under explicit role or style instructions, it remains unclear whether LLMs can spontaneously perceive and respond to implicit social differences without explicit prompts. Focusing on high-context Chinese interactions, we identify a robust phenomenon termed Social Agnosia, where LLMs fail to adequately perceive and accommodate implicit social power, affective arousal, and epistemic status during natural interaction. To diagnose this behavior, we propose C-ISA, a framework grounded in Communication Accommodation Theory that decomposes social adaptation into three approximately orthogonal dimensions, and conduct controlled comparisons across multiple Chinese LLMs under implicit and explicit conditions. Results show that while models substantially adjust linguistic strategies under explicit conditioning, they exhibit socially insensitive and homogenized responses in natural interaction, revealing a structural gap between spontaneous behavior and conditioned capability. The C-ISA dataset is publicly available at https://github.com/ty373/C-ISA.

APPSI-139: A Parallel Corpus of English Application Privacy Policy Summarization and Interpretation

Pengyun Zhu Tianjin University, Qiheng Sun Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Long Wen Zhejiang University, Yanbo Wang, Yang Cao, Junxu Liu, Deyi Xiong Tianjin University, Jinfei Liu Zhejiang University 等 10 位作者

Privacy policies are essential for users to understand how service providers handle their personal data. However, these documents are often long and complex, as well as filled with technobabble and legalese, causing users to unknowingly accept terms that may even contradict the law. While summarizing and interpreting these privacy policies is crucial, there is a lack of high-quality English parallel corpus optimized for legal clarity and readability. To address this issue, we introduce APPSI-139, a high-quality English privacy policy corpus meticulously annotated by domain experts, specifically designed for summarization and interpretation tasks. The corpus includes 139 English privacy policies, 15,692 rewritten parallel corpora, and 36,351 fine-grained annotation labels across 11 data practice categories. Concurrently, we propose TCSI-pp-V2, a hybrid privacy policy summarization and interpretation framework that employs an alternating training strategy and coordinates multiple expert modules to effectively balance computational efficiency and accuracy. Experimental results show that the hybrid summarization system built on APPSI-139 corpus and the TCSI-pp-V2 framework outperform large language models, such as GPT-4o and LLaMA-3-70B, in terms of readability and reliability. The source code and dataset are available at https://github.com/EnlightenedAI/APPSI-139.

ASTRA: An Automated Framework for Strategy Discovery, Retrieval, and Evolution for Jailbreaking LLMs

Xu Liu East China University of Science and Technology, Yan Chen East China University of Science and Technology, Kan Ling East China University of Science and Technology, Yichi Zhu, Hengrun Zhang East China University of Science and Technology, Guisheng Fan East China University of Science and Technology, Huiqun Yu

Despite extensive safety alignment, Large Language Models (LLMs) remain vulnerable to jailbreak attacks. However, existing methods generally lack the capability for continuous learning and self-evolution from interactions, limiting the diversity and adaptability of attack strategies. To address this, we propose ASTRA, an automated framework capable of autonomously discovering, retrieving, and evolving attack strategies. ASTRA operates on a closed-loop "attack-evaluate-distill-reuse” mechanism, which not only generates attack prompts but also automatically distills reusable strategies from every interaction. To systematically manage these strategies, we introduce a dynamic three-tier strategy library (Effective, Promising, and Ineffective) that categorizes strategies based on performance. This hierarchical memory mechanism enables the framework to enhance efficiency by leveraging successful patterns while optimizing the exploration space by avoiding known failures. Extensive experiments in a black-box setting demonstrate that ASTRA significantly outperforms existing baselines.

WebCoderBench: Benchmarking Web Application Generation with Comprehensive and Interpretable Evaluation Metrics

Chenxu Liu Peking University, Yingjie Fu Peking University, Wei Yang University of Texas, Dallas, Ying Zhang Peking University, Tao Xie Beijing Tongming Lake Information Technology Application Innovation Center, Fudan University Institute of Systems for Advanced Computing, Shanghai Institute of Systems for Open Computing and Key Lab of HCST (PKU), MOE; SCS, Peking University

Web applications (web apps) have become a key arena for large language models (LLMs) to demonstrate their code generation capabilities and commercial potential. However, building a benchmark for LLM-generated web apps remains challenging due to the need for real-world user requirements, generalizable evaluation metrics without relying on ground-truth implementations or test cases, and interpretable evaluation results. To address these challenges, we introduce WebCoderBench, the first real-world-collected, generalizable, and interpretable benchmark for web app generation. WebCoderBench comprises 1,572 user requirements, covering diverse modalities and expression styles that reflect realistic user intentions. WebCoderBench provides 24 fine-grained evaluation metrics across 9 perspectives, combining the rule-based and LLM-as-a-judge paradigms for fully automated, objective, and general evaluation. Moreover, WebCoderBench adopts human-preference-aligned weights over metrics to yield interpretable overall scores. Experiments across 12 representative LLMs and 2 LLM-based agents show that there exists no dominant model across all evaluation metrics, offering an opportunity for LLM developers to optimize their models in a targeted manner for a more powerful version.
