Novel view synthesis (NVS) in degraded scenes aims to reconstruct 3D scenes from multi-view observations affected by various degradations, and to generate clear and photorealistic images at unseen viewpoints. Despite recent advances, existing methods often rely on degradation-specific models, limiting their generalization across diverse extreme environments. Generative models provide rich visual priors, but their outputs often suffer from pixel misalignment and color deviations, which can propagate into the reconstructed 3D scene and compromise reconstruction quality. Furthermore, the high computational and memory costs of 3D reconstruction hinder the practical application of NVS in extreme environments. To this end, we propose MLLM-GS, a multimodal large language model (MLLM) prior-guided framework for fast NVS in extreme environments. MLLM-GS consists of two branches: MLLM prior-guided view enhancement and fast 3D scene reconstruction. The former leverages the rich visual priors of a frozen MLLM to enhance views under different severe degradations and introduces a lightweight correction network to reduce pixel shifts and color distortions in MLLM outputs. With supervision from only a few paired clean views, this branch produces reliable enhanced views for all degraded observations, providing pseudo-GT views for subsequent 3D reconstruction. The latter improves 3DGS efficiency by optimizing rasterization, Gaussian memory layout, and parameter updates, reducing redundant computation, memory-access overhead, and optimization costs. Extensive experiments on multiple degraded scenes demonstrate that MLLM-GS effectively handles various severe degradations and achieves high-quality NVS with significantly lower reconstruction time and memory consumption. Using Large Language Models (LLMs) to give educational feedback to students for their assignments has attracted much attention in the AI in Education (AIED) field. Yet, there is currently no large-scale open-source dataset of student assignments that includes detailed assignment descriptions, rubrics, and student submissions across various courses. As a result, research on generalisable methodology for automatic generation of effective and responsible educational feedback remains limited. In this paper, we introduce a synthetic computer science university assignment dataset for LLM-based educational feedback research, called SCALEFeedback (Synthetic Computer science Assignments for LLM Educational Feedback Research). The dataset is generated via Sophisticated Assignment Mimicry (SAM) framework specifically designed to synthesise this dataset and that utilizes one-to-one LLM-based imitation from real assignment descriptions, rubrics, and student submissions. Our open-source dataset contains 10,000 synthetic student submissions spanning 155 assignments across 59 university-level computer science courses. Technical validation confirmed that the synthetic dataset closely resembles real data while successfully eliminating personally identifiable information present in the source material. The creation of this dataset is a valuable contribution to researchers who aim to develop LLM-based generalisable methods for offering high-quality, automated educational feedback in a scalable way.

Amidst a shortage of qualified mental health professionals, the integration of large language models (LLMs) into psychological applications offers a promising way to alleviate the growing burden of mental health disorders. Recent reasoning-augmented LLMs have achieved remarkable performance in mathematics and programming, while research in the psychological domain has predominantly emphasized emotional support and empathetic dialogue, with limited attention to reasoning mechanisms that are beneficial to generating accurate responses. Therefore, in this paper, we propose Psyche-R1, the first Chinese psychological LLM that jointly integrates empathy, psychological expertise, and reasoning, built upon a novel data curation pipeline. Specifically, we design a comprehensive data synthesis pipeline that produces over 75k high-quality psychological questions paired with detailed rationales, generated through and iterative prompt-rationale optimization procedure, along with 73k empathetic dialogues. Subsequently, we employ a hybrid training strategy wherein challenging samples are identified through a multi-LLM cross-selection strategy for group relative policy optimization (GRPO) to improve reasoning ability, while the remaining data are used for supervised fine-tuning (SFT) to enhance empathetic response generation and psychological domain knowledge. Extensive experiment results demonstrate the effectiveness of Psyche-R1 across several psychological benchmarks, where our 7B Psyche-R1 achieves comparable results to 671B DeepSeek-R1.

Machine unlearning aims to forget sensitive knowledge from Large Language Models (LLMs) while maintaining general utility. However, existing approaches typically treat all tokens in a response indiscriminately and enforce uncertainty over the entire vocabulary. This global treatment results in unnecessary utility degradation and extends optimization to content-agnostic regions. To address these limitations, we propose PALU (Prefix-Aware Localized Unlearning), a framework driven by a local entropy maximization objective across both temporal and vocabulary dimensions. PALU reveals that (i) suppressing the sensitive prefix alone is sufficient to sever the causal generation link, and (ii) flattening only the top-K logits is adequate to maximize uncertainty in the critical subspace. These findings allow PALU to alleviate redundant optimization across the full vocabulary and parameter space while minimizing collateral damage to general model performance. Comprehensive evaluations validate that PALU achieves superior forgetting efficacy and utility preservation compared to state-of-the-art baselines. Our code is available at https://github.com/nxZhai/PALU.
