Adaptive Test-Time Memory Allocation for Long-Tailed Human-Object Interaction Detection

Yuqiu Jiang, Xiaozhen Qiao, Yifan Chen, Ye Zheng, Zhe Sun, Xuelong Li

原文摘要

Long-tailed human-object interaction (HOI) detection remains challenging because rare interactions are sparsely represented in training data. Although test observations provide additional visual evidence, existing cache-based methods typically assign uniform memory capacity across classes, limiting their ability to capture informative features of underrepresented interactions. To address this issue, we propose Adaptive Diversity Cache (ADC), a training-free, plug-and-play framework that adaptively constructs test-time caches through frequency-aware capacity allocation and confidence-diversity joint sample selection. Specifically, Frequency-Aware Cache Adaptation assigns larger capacities to underrepresented interactions using frequency-dependent priorities and a weighted logarithmic allocation objective, and fills remaining slots with selected augmented views. Confidence-Diversity Joint Cache Selection further combines prediction confidence with local feature diversity to retain informative cache entries. Cache retrieval then refines the predictions of the frozen detector. Experiments on HICO-DET and V-COCO across three base detectors demonstrate consistent improvements. On HICO-DET, ADC improves mean average precision (mAP) for rare interactions by 4.02--8.57 percentage points, while also improving performance on non-rare interactions. Online adaptation further achieves gains of 2.87--7.36 percentage points on rare interactions. These results demonstrate that adaptive test-time memory effectively complements existing HOI detectors and improves long-tailed detection performance.

RPL-UIE: Reference-Guided Prior Learning for Content-Preserving Underwater Image Enhancement

Yifan Chen, Jijun Lu, Ye Zheng, Kaichen Chi, Zhe Sun, Tao Chen

原文摘要

Underwater image enhancement (UIE) aims to recover clear images from observations degraded by wavelength-dependent absorption, scattering, and spatially nonuniform degradation. Although existing generative methods can handle complex degradations, they may still generate visually appealing results while compromising content preservation, thereby degrading downstream visual perception. To improve content preservation, we extract spatial priors characterizing appearance and photometric properties from ground-truth images to provide stable guidance for enhancement. To bridge the gap between training with ground-truth references and inference without references, we propose reference-guided prior learning for underwater image enhancement (RPL-UIE), a two-stage teacher-student framework. The teacher network extracts stable priors from ground-truth images, while the student network takes only degraded images as input and learns to mimic the teacher's prior extraction capability. We further design Residual Prior Refinement Diffusion (RPRD) and Frequency-Aware Prior Residual Calibration (FPRC) to reduce the prior discrepancy between the teacher and student. RPRD progressively predicts corrections in the residual space, while FPRC preserves stable low-frequency residuals and selectively modulates high-frequency details. Experiments on multiple underwater image datasets show that RPL-UIE achieves competitive enhancement performance. For the engineering application of underwater visual perception, downstream object detection and instance segmentation experiments show that RPL-UIE improves visual quality while better preserving object structures and semantic content needed for reliable perception. Tests on real-world data collected by a custom-built remotely operated vehicle (ROV) further demonstrate its effectiveness and practical applicability.

USI-Brain: Enhancing Underwater Spatial Intelligence via Spatial Data-Driven Vision-Language Modeling

Zhiliang Zhu, Zhiqiang Zhao, Xie'an Jiang, Yingxin Lai, Kangye Zheng, Dawei Zhao

原文摘要

Underwater spatial reasoning depends on object boundaries and geometric cues that are obscured by scattering, color distortion, and low visibility. Existing underwater resources capture these cues through images, annotations, and depth maps, but provide fragmented supervision for vision-language models. We present a spatial data engine that connects visual appearance with object-level geometry through enhancement, 2D and geometry-assisted question generation, and expert filtering. It produces 4.27M QA pairs across five capability groups. We use this corpus to train USI-Brain and introduce an Underwater Prior-guided Rectifier (UPR) that applies gated corrections to visual features. USI-Bench evaluates the resulting capabilities with 6,525 held-out QA pairs. On its 15 task metrics, USI-Brain and USI-Brain + UPR improve over Qwen3-VL-8B-Instruct by 5.76 and 7.63 points on average, respectively, using signed differences on 100-point scales. Ablations show that geometry-assisted supervision improves depth and ordering by 4.8 and 6.1 points with UPR disabled, while UPR adds 18.0 points in scene description under matched training data. Both variants use raw images at evaluation. Across NautData, UWBench, and MarineEval, USI-Brain achieves the best or joint-best score on 28 of 32 metrics. Model weights and USI-Bench will be released at https://github.com/SKY-Zhu-91/USI-Brain.

MLLM-GS: Multimodal Large Language Model Prior-Guided Fast Novel View Synthesis in Extreme Environments

原文摘要

Novel view synthesis (NVS) in degraded scenes aims to reconstruct 3D scenes from multi-view observations affected by various degradations, and to generate clear and photorealistic images at unseen viewpoints. Despite recent advances, existing methods often rely on degradation-specific models, limiting their generalization across diverse extreme environments. Generative models provide rich visual priors, but their outputs often suffer from pixel misalignment and color deviations, which can propagate into the reconstructed 3D scene and compromise reconstruction quality. Furthermore, the high computational and memory costs of 3D reconstruction hinder the practical application of NVS in extreme environments. To this end, we propose MLLM-GS, a multimodal large language model (MLLM) prior-guided framework for fast NVS in extreme environments. MLLM-GS consists of two branches: MLLM prior-guided view enhancement and fast 3D scene reconstruction. The former leverages the rich visual priors of a frozen MLLM to enhance views under different severe degradations and introduces a lightweight correction network to reduce pixel shifts and color distortions in MLLM outputs. With supervision from only a few paired clean views, this branch produces reliable enhanced views for all degraded observations, providing pseudo-GT views for subsequent 3D reconstruction. The latter improves 3DGS efficiency by optimizing rasterization, Gaussian memory layout, and parameter updates, reducing redundant computation, memory-access overhead, and optimization costs. Extensive experiments on multiple degraded scenes demonstrate that MLLM-GS effectively handles various severe degradations and achieves high-quality NVS with significantly lower reconstruction time and memory consumption. Physical structure as an organizing principle for universal Hamiltonian learning

Mingkang Liu, Zhanghao Zhouyin, Guanghui Wang, Daye Zheng, Lei Shen, Qiangqiang Gu

原文摘要

Density functional theory (DFT) gives the electronic structure of materials, but its cost limits large-supercell calculations and materials screening. Machine-learned Hamiltonians bypass the self-consistent cycle but are usually system-specific; universal ones could cover new compositions and disordered solids. Such models must generalize across chemistry and keep downstream properties physical, while staying inexpensive for large cells. Here we introduce UniTB, a universal E(3) equivariant Hamiltonian representation framework that integrates physical priors rooted in density-functional tight-binding theory with deep learning. UniTB's network, which corrects a prior Hamiltonian, generalizes across chemistry through a mixture of experts routed by that prior and a charge-equilibration head as in self-consistent-charge tight binding. A projection bounds band shifts from the prior, suppressing spurious states and keeping downstream properties physical. We provide the fastest SO(2) tensor-product GPU kernels for the network. The variant UniTB-Flash assembles its prior from two-center tables at $O(N)$ cost for $N$ atoms, against $O(N\log N)$ on a grid. Trained on 29,242 crystals, UniTB reaches a 0.48 meV matrix-element error on nonmagnetic test crystals spanning 68 elements. Without amorphous training data, both models agree with DFT optics and conductivity of amorphous Ge-Sb-Te. UniTB-Flash ranks candidates with no significant difference from UniTB, whose property values are more accurate; together they screen 16,195 crystals for five application domains of industrial relevance.
