Avatar Intelligence: Amplifying Human Agency Through Persistent Personal Agents

原文摘要

Personal AI agents are increasingly capable of handling long-horizon tasks across applications, yet users often need to invest substantial effort in specifying goals, resolving ambiguity, and verifying outcomes. We argue that progress should be measured by how effectively agents amplify human agency: enabling people to pursue their goals with less routine supervision while retaining control over consequential decisions. We advocate Avatar Intelligence, a paradigm of persistent personal agents that represent users' goals, values, and constraints through sustained decision delegation across contexts and time. We describe a maturity roadmap from human-directed execution to autonomous operation within delegated domains, and introduce the Agentic Oversight Index (AOI) as a framework for evaluating delivered value against agent-side operational cost and human oversight burden. We identify three core research challenges: identity-continuous personalization that carries user preferences across tasks, user-situated evolution through Rehearsal Engineering, and safety mechanisms that combine technical control with accountability and recourse. These directions define a research agenda for reliable decision delegation to personal agents across tasks and over time.

BRASP: Hiding Where You Look in Encrypted Spatial Keyword Search

原文摘要

Searchable Encryption (SE) enables users to query outsourced encrypted data while preserving data confidentiality. However, most efficient schemes still leak the search pattern and access pattern, which may allow an honest-but-curious cloud server to infer query contents, user interests, or returned records from repeated searches and observed results. Existing pattern-hiding solutions mainly target keyword queries and do not naturally support Boolean range queries over encrypted spatial data. This paper presents BRASP, a searchable encryption scheme for Boolean range queries over encrypted spatial data. BRASP combines Hilbert-curve-based prefix encoding with encrypted prefix--ID and keyword--ID inverted indexes to support efficient spatial range filtering and conjunctive keyword matching. To hide the search pattern and access pattern under a dual-server setting, BRASP integrates index shuffling for encrypted keyword and prefix entries with ID-field redistribution across two non-colluding cloud servers. BRASP also supports dynamic updates and achieves forward security. We formalize the security of BRASP through confidentiality, shuffle indistinguishability, query unforgeability, and forward-security analyses, and we evaluate its performance experimentally on a real-world dataset. The results show that BRASP effectively protects query privacy while incurring relatively low computation and communication overhead. To facilitate reproducibility and further research, the source code of BRASP is publicly available at https://github.com/Egbert-Lannister/BRASP

From Detection to Understanding: Multi-Turn Reasoning for Video Misinformation Analysis

原文摘要

Video misinformation detection is often approached as a binary veracity classification problem, overlooking the complex reasoning required to explain how and why content misleads. Existing benchmarks fail to capture the diversity of manipulation strategies, such as AI-generated edits and out-of-context manipulation, and do not evaluate whether models can provide process-level justifications for their judgments. We address these limitations with MisVideoQA, a multi-turn benchmark designed to assess comprehensive understanding and reasoning in video misinformation analysis. MisVideoQA covers 12 fine-grained deception categories and evaluates models along six dimensions, progressing from perceptual attribution to intent and persuasion analysis. Recognizing that standard MLLMs struggle to sustain such structured, evidence-based deduction, we propose MisAgent, a Delphi-inspired multi-agent framework in which specialized agents collaboratively integrate multimodal cues with external evidence. Experimental results show that state-of-the-art multimodal large language models perform poorly on MisVideoQA, while MisAgent consistently improves reasoning accuracy and explanation quality. Together, our benchmark and framework establish a unified foundation for reliable, interpretable, and evidence-grounded video misinformation analysis.
