Retrieval-based factuality evaluation, where LLM-generated claims are verified against evidence from authoritative medical corpora, has become the dominant paradigm for scalable hallucination detection in high-stakes clinical settings. Despite the urgency of reliable and transparent medical fact verification, most systems measure performance with aggregate metrics like F1, which obscure where and why failures occur. Existing RAG diagnostics require gold answers or annotated gold evidence, neither of which exists in this regime. We introduce two comprehensive taxonomies, grounded in a case study on the open-ended MedExpert dataset and 3 closed-ended datasets, decomposing failures into retrieval-stage errors along five quality dimensions, and verifier-reasoning errors into six consecutive steps. We adapt an automatic pattern induction pipeline using LLM-as-Judge to label evidence quality and classify verifier reasoning errors at scale, and then stress-test our findings across 4 retrieval methods and 6 frontier verifier models. Our analysis reveals that scaling model size, adding reasoning effort, expanding to authoritative web sources, and applying medical fine-tuning do not resolve these failure modes, demonstrating that they represent fundamental limitations of the retrieve-then-verify paradigm in open-ended medical settings rather than artifacts of outdated systems. We release our code and data at https://anonymous.4open.science/r/Medical_RAG_eval-4AB5 for the full reproducibility of our results.

Large language model (LLM) assistants increasingly help users with everyday activities that involve time-dependent constraints. However, users may not mention these constraints in later requests, requiring assistants to recognize and adjust their advice accordingly. To evaluate such capability, we introduce TASC (Temporal Action Safety in Conversation), a benchmark that evaluates whether LLMs apply time-dependent constraints when responding to conversational requests. TASC consists of 3,418 inputs derived from 128 templates, along with a separate set of 33 scenarios designed to compare models' ability to calculate elapsed time with their ability to apply that information. Across 13 models, assistants account for time-dependent constraints in only 30.5% of cases where the proposed action violates a rule, while rarely warning users unnecessarily. More importantly, models fail to apply these constraints in 62.1% of cases despite correctly calculating the elapsed time. Explicitly providing the timing resolves only about half of these failures, revealing a gap between temporal reasoning and its application in conversational advice.

Playing Soccer Like Humans Do: Learning Versatile and Agile Humanoid Soccer via Latent Motion Priors

原文摘要

Humanoid soccer requires a robot to seamlessly combine agile locomotion, ball manipulation, and impact-rich contact dynamics across a continuous, dynamic behavioral spectrum. Yet existing approaches either cover only a limited set of skills, or forego motion priors entirely and produce unnatural behaviors, leaving the combination of a unified skill set and human-like motion quality unaddressed. We present soccerbot, a hierarchical reinforcement learning framework that resolves both limitations through a structured latent motion prior distilled from large-scale human soccer motion capture data. By constraining policy learning within this dynamically plausible motion manifold, a single skill-conditioned policy naturally learns to perform moving, dribbling, trapping, and kicking in a unified formulation, while inherently producing human-like motion and fluid transitions during commanded skill switching. Augmented by robustness-oriented simulation design, soccerbot transfers zero-shot to the Unitree G1 humanoid robot, demonstrating agile, natural, and robust execution of the full soccer skill repertoire under real-world conditions.

Attention to Mamba: A Recipe for Cross-Architecture Distillation

Abhinav Moudgil, Ningyuan Huang, Eeshan Gunesh Dhekane, Pau Rodríguez, Luca Zappella, Federico Danieli

原文摘要

State Space Models (SSMs) such as Mamba have become a popular alternative to Transformer models, due to their reduced memory consumption and higher throughput at generation compared to their Attention-based counterparts. On the other hand, the community has built up a considerable body of knowledge on how to train Transformers, and many pretrained Transformer models are readily available. To facilitate the adoption of SSMs while leveraging existing pretrained Transformers, we aim to identify an effective recipe to distill an Attention-based model into a Mamba-like architecture. In prior work on cross-architecture distillation, however, it has been shown that a naïve distillation procedure from Transformers to Mamba fails to preserve the original teacher performance, a limitation often overcome with hybrid solutions combining Attention and SSM blocks. The key argument from our work is that, by equipping Mamba with a principled initialization, we can recover an overall better recipe for cross-architectural distillation. To this end, we propose a principled two-stage approach: first, we distill knowledge from a traditional Transformer into a linearized version of Attention, using an adaptation of the kernel trick. Then, we distill the linearized version into an adapted Mamba model that does not use any Attention block. Overall, the distilled Mamba model retains most of the original Pythia-1B Transformer performance, reaching a perplexity of 14.01 close to the teacher's 13.86. This largely carries over to downstream tasks, although some gaps appear on tasks relying more on in-context recall. To show the efficacy of our recipe, we conduct thorough ablations at 1B scale with 10B tokens varying sequence mixer architecture, scaling analysis on model sizes and total distillation tokens, and a sensitivity analysis on tokens allocation between stages.

One Assistant, Many Memories: Benchmarking Real-World Group Assistance When Recall Is Not Enough

Zhanghao Hu, Linhai Zhang, Qian Zhao, Qi Zhu, Yuan Hua, Di Liang, Jiasheng Si, Xin Zhao 等 11 位作者

原文摘要

The value of memory lies not only in recall but in using it to provide appropriate assistance. Recent benchmarks test memory use in personalisation and agentic tasks, but seldom evaluate assistance without fixed answers or integration across multiple participants. Group chats make both challenges more acute: an assistant must integrate information from multiple members, track revisions and conflicts over time, and produce one response for the group. Yet existing group memory benchmarks rely on synthetic conversations and inherit constrained evaluation from general memory benchmarks, focusing on recall against fixed answers or decisions over a closed set. We introduce GroupAssistBench, the first memory benchmark from real-world group conversations with a deployed group assistant, covering 80,299 messages in 50 groups and costing over $53K. Over the same histories, GroupAssistBench evaluates memory recall (L1) with reference answers and memory use (L2) with service requests without fixed answers across single, distributed, and conflicting memories (M1--M3). Requests are verified to require group history, memories are anchored to their sources, and L2 uses tailored rubrics with penalties derived from real user feedback. Across evaluations of frontier models with full context, retrieval methods, and memory systems, the strongest memory system rivals full context on recall but falls far behind on use, especially for distributed and conflicting memories. Together, two additions that relate retrieved memories and bind remembered facts as response constraints bring consistent gains, showing that group memory systems must improve use, not recall alone.

Avatar Intelligence: Amplifying Human Agency Through Persistent Personal Agents

原文摘要

Personal AI agents are increasingly capable of handling long-horizon tasks across applications, yet users often need to invest substantial effort in specifying goals, resolving ambiguity, and verifying outcomes. We argue that progress should be measured by how effectively agents amplify human agency: enabling people to pursue their goals with less routine supervision while retaining control over consequential decisions. We advocate Avatar Intelligence, a paradigm of persistent personal agents that represent users' goals, values, and constraints through sustained decision delegation across contexts and time. We describe a maturity roadmap from human-directed execution to autonomous operation within delegated domains, and introduce the Agentic Oversight Index (AOI) as a framework for evaluating delivered value against agent-side operational cost and human oversight burden. We identify three core research challenges: identity-continuous personalization that carries user preferences across tasks, user-situated evolution through Rehearsal Engineering, and safety mechanisms that combine technical control with accountability and recourse. These directions define a research agenda for reliable decision delegation to personal agents across tasks and over time.

GeoGuesser Bench: Benchmarking Vision-Language Agents on Interactive Geolocation

原文摘要

Vision-language model (VLM) agents that act in the open world need two abilities: world knowledge to interpret what they see, and exploration to find what they cannot yet see. We study how agents combine the two through interactive visual geolocation. GeoGuesser Bench contains 282 tasks in an offline Street View environment where agents rotate, zoom, and move between real panoramas. Its three task types shift the balance from knowledge to exploration: agents (1) report the coordinates of their starting location, (2) name the enclosing street, city, state, or country, or (3) find, read, and count nearby objects. The coordinate tasks in (1) also include 42 real GeoGuessr World Championship rounds, whose expert guesses provide a human reference. We evaluate 23 VLMs: the best accuracy is 62.5% on place naming and 35.0% on object finding, and the best agent averages 4352.4 GeoGuessr points on the championship rounds, against 4770.3 for the better expert in each round. Beyond these headline numbers, world knowledge and exploration are only weakly correlated across models: agents that localize well do not necessarily explore well. To understand where agents fail, we categorize their errors into vision, navigation, and tool-use failures. Further ablations show that the strongest agents, such as Claude Opus 4.8, still perform well with limited views, while weaker agents degrade; customizing the environment thus adjusts task difficulty. The environment's verifiable rewards and restorable state also support training, and our Planner-Worker-Compressor harness cuts planner tokens by 57-61% by compacting the interaction history. We hope GeoGuesser Bench and its environment serve as a high-quality foundation for simulating real-world exploration at scale.

WorldProbe: When Video World Models Fall Apart under Long-Horizon Spatial Exploration

Minqi Wang, Jie Peng, Hejun Dong, Ruchang Yao, Puyi Wang, Siyuan Huang, Jihai Zhang, Yafu Li 等 11 位作者

原文摘要

Video world models generate future visual observations from camera or action inputs, with the goal of synthesizing persistent 3D worlds that can be explored across time and space. Existing benchmarks typically evaluate short interactions or rely on camera trajectories fixed before generation. The performance of video world models under long-horizon exploration with extensive camera motion remains under-explored. We introduce WorldProbe, a diagnostic benchmark that uses a goal-conditioned multimodal agent to adapt camera actions online during generation. WorldProbe comprises 164 test cases across four probing families. Across 10 state-of-the-art models, we generate more than 1,600 rollouts totaling approximately 800 minutes, with horizons up to 180 seconds. Our evaluation across four dimensions reveals both the degradation of local measures and the emergence of long-range inconsistencies. We find that recent models sustain visual and content quality for longer, while long-range memory and evolution remain weak. These results expose a gap between locally stable generation and persistent world consistency that is largely missed by existing benchmarks. Code and benchmark resources are available at https://github.com/Untitled-W/WorldProbe.

原文摘要

Dexterous grasping is the foundational primitive in embodied AI, demanding massive data to train robust models. As real-world data collection is expensive, simulation has become the mainstream paradigm. Yet, while cluttered scenes best reflect real-world applications, learning to grasp within them is bottlenecked by a critical scarcity of large-scale data. To resolve this, we curate high-quality 3D objects and supporting bases, proposing a scalable seed-and-filter strategy that bypasses sluggish scene-level optimization. This yields an unprecedented benchmark comprising over 2.6 million scenes and 0.4B scene-specific grasp ground truths, featuring diverse realistic layouts paired with rich semantic and geometric observations. Furthermore, we introduce the OmniDex model to overcome the grasp multimodality and last-millimeter precision errors plaguing current generative models. By coupling Soft Winner-Takes-All learning with human-inspired physical constraints during training, and utilizing physics-driven ranking, our approach achieves robust dexterous grasping without the latency of post-optimization. Experimental results show that OmniDex model achieves state-of-the-art performance and strong generalization across diverse scenes, views, and unseen objects.

MemVLN: Streaming Episodic Memory for Vision-Language Navigation

Yan Wang, Jiangyong Huang, Siyuan Huang, Baoxiong Jia

原文摘要

Vision-language navigation (VLN) requires an embodied agent to follow language instructions through 3D environments. Maintaining persistent episodic memory remains a challenge for VLM-based streaming agents in long-horizon navigation. We present MEMVLN, a streaming episodic memory framework that maintains a bounded bank of compressed perceptual features annotated with timesteps and action-derived relative poses, and produces compact memory tokens via cross-attention. We pair the proposed memory with a frozen pretrained geometry encoder. To learn the memory module, we design a masking-based trajectory summarization task with multi-granularity sub-trajectory decomposition, encouraging route reconstruction exclusively from episodic memory. Under navigation training restricted to the official R2R/RxR trajectories, MEMVLN achieves state-of-the-art performance on most reported metrics on standard VLN-CE benchmarks. Long-horizon analyses further characterize when episodic memory is useful. For physical evaluation, we collect 30 instruction-conditioned episodes in one physical scene, use 24 as demonstrations for post-training, and hold out six for testing. On the held-out episodes, MEMVLN improves success over the VLM baseline from 17% to 40%, and post-training further raises it to 47%.

Amplitude-Only FFN Intervention for Tool-Structured LLM Inference: Method, Gated Evaluation Protocol, and Cross-Model Empirical Results

原文摘要

We study amplitude-only rescaling of feed-forward network (FFN) activations to repair tool calls and other structured outputs, using multiplicative coordinate masks rather than additive steering vectors. Amplitude Gating (AG) keeps pretrained weights fixed and applies magnitude/entropy-based masks at six SwiGLU sites, with a Newton-Schulz windowed ranking variant. Across three Qwen checkpoints and six text/tool endpoints, effects are task dependent. Under frozen local scorers, Qwen3.5-9B non-NS configurations improve two function-call endpoints by +2.61/+2.67 percentage points (pp) and static ToolBench in/out-domain by +1.64/+2.82 pp; JSON gains are small. These gains survive comparing the weaker of two observed AG runs with the stronger baseline, supporting observed-run robustness rather than population significance. Scores measure lexical or answer/action-name agreement, not executed-tool success. Under the current experimental conditions, the six-task random-forest refit improves native score by +0.46 pp with a positive conditional paired interval; transfer to other settings requires further evaluation. The results support task-specific interventions; causal mechanisms, equal-budget advantages, repeated-run uncertainty, and serving cost require further evaluation. 原文摘要

Learning generalizable humanoid loco-manipulation remains bottlenecked by costly real-world demonstrations. Simulation provides a scalable alternative, but requires visually faithful, physics-ready scenes and executable whole-body motions. We present Zero-HLM, a real-to-sim-to-real framework that transforms smartphone captures and simulated source demonstrations into scalable training data for humanoid loco-manipulation. Gaussian-guided agentic real-to-sim reconstruction aligns visual and physical scenes; motion-environment co-adaptation uses rollout feedback to correct whole-body references and interaction geometry. We generate 4,800 physically validated demonstrations for zero-shot transfer across three Unitree G1 tasks. Simulation-trained GR00T N1.7 achieves 66.7% mean full-task success, versus 46.7% with real-data training. On generalized configurations, expanded simulation training raises pooled success from 23% for base-trained real-data policies to 69%, without additional real demonstrations. DMHM: Density-aware Manifold Learning and Hybrid Mahalanobis Energy for LLMs-generated Text Detection

原文摘要

As the text generated by large language models (LLMs) increasingly resembles human-written text (HWT), detecting LLM-generated text (LGT) is crucial to avoid malicious use of LGT. Recent research treats LGT detection as an out-of-distribution (OOD) detection problem and views HWT as the OOD. However, existing OOD detection methods assume that LGT is a single homogeneous distribution. In practice, LGT exhibits different characteristics under different generation conditions. Text from weaker LLMs tends to form distinct clusters and is easy to detect, whereas text from stronger models significantly overlaps with HWTs and is hard to detect. To address the issue, in this paper, we propose an LGT detection framework based on density-aware manifold learning and the construction of hybrid Mahalanobis energy. We apply density-aware manifold learning with Laplacian smoothness and density regularization in embedding space, amplifying differences between LGT and HWT. We further propose a density-adaptive hybrid Mahalanobis metric that combines global and local covariance via density weighting, enabling adaptation to the manifold-aware embedding space. Finally, based on the metric, we define the distribution energy as a measure of distribution discrepancy, and we employ energy learning and contrastive learning to separate distributions hierarchically, establishing a clear OOD decision boundary. Experiments show that our method outperforms strong baselines.

MemRec: Collaborative Memory-Augmented Agentic Recommender System

原文摘要

The evolution of recommender systems has shifted from traditional collaborative filtering to LLM-based agentic systems, which rely on semantic user and item memories to make predictions. However, existing agents maintain these memories in isolation. This overlooks crucial collaborative signals, such as user-item co-engagements and peer relationships across the community, which significantly limits their ability to uncover hidden preferences and accurately infer user needs, particularly for data-sparse users. To bridge this gap, we introduce collaborative memory, a paradigm that connects isolated semantics to enable the sharing of relational insights. Yet, naively utilizing collaborative memory causes severe context overload and introduces noise to downstream LLMs, alongside prohibitive computational costs. To resolve this, we propose MemRec, a framework that architecturally decouples memory management from reasoning. MemRec introduces a dedicated, lightweight language model LM_Mem to efficiently manage and synthesize a dynamic collaborative memory graph in the background. It provides only distilled, high-signal contexts to a downstream, heavyweight large language model (LLM_Rec) for the final recommendation. Extensive experiments on four benchmarks demonstrate that MemRec achieves state-of-the-art performance. Code: https://github.com/rutgerswiselab/memrecHomepage: https://memrec.weixinchen.com

Do Not Step Into the Same River Twice: Learning to Reason from Trial and Error

Chenming Tang Peking University, Hsiu-Yuan Huang Tencent, Weijie Liu, Clive Bai Tencent, Saiyong Yang, Yunfang Wu

原文摘要

Reinforcement learning with verifiable rewards (RLVR) has significantly boosted the reasoning capability of language models (LMs). However, existing RLVR approaches train LMs based on their own on-policy responses and are constrained by the initial capability of LMs, thus prone to exploration stagnation, in which LMs fail to solve more training problems and cannot further learn from the training data. Some approaches try to address this by leveraging off-policy solutions to training problems, but rely on external expert guidance that is limited in availability and scalability. In this work, we propose LTE (Learning to reason from Trial and Error), an approach that hints LMs with their previously self-made mistakes, not requiring any external expert guidance. Experiments validate the effectiveness of LTE, which outperforms the normal group relative policy optimization (GRPO) by 5.02 in Pass@1 and 9.96 in Pass@k on average across six mathematical reasoning benchmarks for Qwen3-8B-Base and even performs better than methods that require external guidance. Further analysis confirms that LTE successfully mitigates exploration stagnation and enhances both exploitation and exploration during training. Our code is available at https://github.com/JamyDon/LTE.

原文摘要

The quadratic computational cost of traditional attention mechanisms poses a major bottleneck to the scalability and practical deployment of large language models (LLMs), particularly in long-context scenarios. To improve efficiency, existing approaches often enforce rigid structural constraints such as local attention windows. However, these strategies typically lead to substantial performance degradation on tasks requiring precise long-range recall. In this work, we propose MATCH, a scalable and efficient framework that augments sparsified attention mechanisms with dynamically integrated in-context information through an efficient retrieval system. Empirical results show that MATCH significantly improves the performance of sparse-attention models on both synthetic and real-world natural-language tasks. These findings highlight the versatility of MATCH as a general approach for enhancing in-context retrieval capabilities while maintaining the efficiency benefits of sparse attention architectures.

原文摘要

Existing evaluation of Large Language Models (LLMs) on static benchmarks is vulnerable to data contamination and leaderboard overfitting, critical issues that obscure true model capabilities. To address this, we introduce LLMEval-Fair, a framework for dynamic evaluation of LLMs. LLMEval-Fair is built on a proprietary bank of 220k graduate-level questions, from which it dynamically samples unseen test sets for each evaluation run. Its automated pipeline ensures integrity via contamination-resistant data curation, a novel anti-cheating architecture, and a calibrated LLM-as-a-judge process achieving 90% agreement with human experts, complemented by a relative ranking system for fair comparison. An 30-month longitudinal study of nearly 60 leading models reveals a performance ceiling on knowledge memorization and exposes data contamination vulnerabilities undetectable by static benchmarks. The framework demonstrates exceptional robustness in ranking stability and consistency, providing strong empirical validation for the dynamic evaluation paradigm. LLMEval-Fair offers a robust and credible methodology for assessing the true capabilities of LLMs beyond leaderboard scores, promoting the development of more trustworthy evaluation standards.
