Hippo:基于海马回放的免训练智能体自我进化

Hippo: Training-Free Agent Self-Evolution via Hippocampal Replay

AI 速览:受海马选择性编码与回放启发,Hippo 通过比较同一任务的多次尝试来提炼可复用经验,并在不更新模型参数的情况下实现 LLM 智能体的外部记忆学习。

Motivated by recursive self-improvement (RSI), we study how LLM agents can learn through external memory without updating model parameters. Extracting useful experience from a single attempt is difficult: flawed reasoning can produce success, while poor execution can obscure a sound strategy. Preserving its value over time is also difficult: our accumulation baseline without consolidation initially improves but eventually performs below a no-memory baseline. Our key idea is to compare attempts at the same task to identify reusable decisions and refine when they apply. We introduce Hippo, a memory framework inspired by selective hippocampal encoding and replay that learns from these comparisons when shortcomings are diagnosed. It compares the resulting experience with existing memory to merge overlaps and resolve conflicts through explicit applicability conditions. This allows prior guidance to be revised without storing every lesson as a separate entry. Experiments on SWE-bench Verified, WebArena, and Mind2Web show performance gains in all three settings and substantially fewer retained experiences than the accumulation baseline. The gains extend across the evaluated base models of varying capabilities, indicating that memory-based adaptation remains useful even for highly capable models.

AI 速览:提出一种以学习者参与为核心的多智能体组织框架,并在 Agentic University 中实现,用可修订的“能力项目”把个人目标、学习活动与分层评估串联起来。

Large language models support personalized tutoring, content generation, and adaptive learning paths. However, capability development requires these resources and interactions to form a coherent learning process that evolves with the learner. A central challenge is to align goals, activities, and assessment while using learning evidence to decide what should follow. We introduce Human-Participatory Multi-Agent Organization and instantiate it in Agentic University (AU). In AU, learners participate as organization members and work with specialized agents to maintain a revisable Capability Program. The program connects personal goals, learning activities across modalities, and layered assessment, while learner feedback and performance guide subsequent support. Our evaluation shows advantages in program organization, assessment design, and revision quality. Users achieved larger mean assessment gains (12.19 versus 5.61 points on a 50-point scale) and reported stronger cognitive support. This work contributes an organizational approach to adaptive learning that makes learner participation a continuing basis for multi-agent coordination. CaC: Advancing Video Reward Models via Hierarchical Spatiotemporal Concentrating

Jiyuan Wang, Huan Ouyang, Jiuzhou Lin, Chunyu Lin, Dewen Fan, Boheng Zhang, Haonan Fan, Honglie Wang 等 13 位作者

In this paper, we propose Concentrate and Concentrate (CaC), a coarse-to-fine anomaly reward model based on Vision-Language Models. During inference, it first conducts a global temporal scan to anchor anomalous time windows, then performs fine-grained spatial grounding within the localized interval, and finally derives robust judgments via structured spatiotemporal Chain-of-Thought reasoning. To equip the model with these capabilities, we construct the first large-scale generated video anomaly dataset with per-frame bounding-box annotations, temporal anomaly windows, and fine-grained attribution labels. Building on this dataset, we design a three-stage progressive training paradigm. The model initially learns spatial and temporal anchoring through single- and multi-frame supervised fine-tuning, and then is optimized by a reinforcement learning strategy based on two-turn Group Relative Policy Optimization (GRPO). Beyond conventional accuracy rewards, we introduce Temporal and Spatial IoU rewards to supervise the intermediate localization process, effectively guiding the model toward more grounded and interpretable spatiotemporal reasoning. Extensive experiments demonstrate that CaC can stably concentrate on subtle anomalies, achieving a 25.7% accuracy improvement on fine-grained anomaly benchmarks and, when used as a reward signal, CaC reduces generated-video anomalies by 11.7% while improving overall video quality.

AI Cosmos: An Agentic Infra for Situated Learning

AI Cosmos Team, Jinfeng Zhou, Yuxuan Chen, Fangming Chang, Mingyu Su, Yifan Zhu, Yuan Wang, Bo Zhang 等 35 位作者

Large language models (LLMs) can improve task performance during learning, yet these gains do not necessarily reflect learners' ability to thereafter apply the knowledge and skills independently. We present AI Cosmos, an agentic infrastructure for situated learning that organizes learning around two complementary principles: scenario-based participation and cumulative assets of practice. AI Cosmos organizes learners and role-specialized agents within learning scenarios that integrate task-relevant knowledge and, when needed, executable workbenches. An asset-memory loop preserves the processes and outcomes of practice as reusable assets with explicit provenance and dependencies. We evaluate scenario-based interaction through two preregistered randomized controlled studies examining the acquisition of legal reasoning and programming competence, holding the same underlying LLM across conditions. AI Cosmos achieves greater learning gains than a conventional LLM in legal reasoning and higher mastery of unseen programming problems than an LLM-as-Teacher baseline.

R2QRec: Learning Recommendation Queries from Retrieval Feedback

Weixin Chen, Shuchang Liu, Hailan Yang, Yuhan Zhao, Li Kang, Xuefeng Zhang, Chenghao Zhang, Xinyuan Wang 等 16 位作者

Query-based recommendation separates expressing user needs from locating matching items. Its central learning problem is how to turn item interactions into effective retrieval requests when interaction logs do not annotate queries. We present R2QRec, which uses a fixed retrieval system to construct query supervision and evaluate recommendation outcomes. Retrieval verification first selects generated expressions that recover observed items as supervised fine tuning targets, allowing retrieval behavior to determine the target wording. Policy refinement then evaluates generated query sets by the observed item's rank in their fused recommendation list. Log-rank feedback distinguishes outcomes beyond the recommendation cutoff, while a KL penalty constrains policy change relative to the supervised reference. The stages have distinct roles: verification identifies expressions to imitate, and policy refinement improves the combined ranking produced by newly generated queries. Only the query generator is trained; the retriever and item index remain fixed, and no query annotations or learned reward model are required. Across three public datasets, R2QRec achieves state-of-the-art overall recommendation performance among the evaluated methods. Extensive experiments demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed design and its generalization across generators and domains.

A Sign Law for Entropy Drift under Sampler Mismatch in RLVR

Zhiyuan Wang, Jacob Steeves, Chang Liu

In reinforcement learning with verifiable rewards (RLVR), whether entropy rises or falls can depend on choices that matter little under exact sampling, such as whether over-length responses are masked or counted as failures. We trace this to sampler mismatch: rollouts are drawn with top-k/top-p truncation or at a temperature the learner does not apply. We prove that a constant advantage shift then changes the entropy of a softmax policy, at first order and in expectation, with a sign fixed by the sampler. Positive shifts sharpen the policy under any sampler whose likelihood ratio to the policy increases with token probability, including top-k, top-p, min-p, and temperatures below one, and flatten it under flatter samplers. In group-based RLVR with token-level losses, the baseline-dependent part of this drift is set by the token-weighted net advantage, which masking and failing can push to opposite signs. The rest comes from a covariance between advantages and the sampler's sharpness gap and feeds back on itself: in a two-level model, a push away from a sharper sampler takes off in finite time, while a pull toward it saturates. On a 2B model, the entropy slope is linear in shifts of the net advantage under truncated sampling and indistinguishable from flat under exact sampling. Token-level importance ratios leave 98% of the drift, and four clipped minibatch updates per batch amplify it sevenfold. In 100-step runs, a net-zero baseline only delays an entropy explosion, and entropy raised at the start keeps rising only under truncation; cancelling the first-order drift at every step keeps entropy bounded without changing the learner. On a 9B reasoning model forked from an uncorrected run, zeroing the net advantage or renormalizing the learner raises held-out accuracy after ten steps by 8.2 and 8.8 points over the uncorrected rule, with no difference under exact sampling.

Turing LLM Post-Training: Calibrated Distillation and Efficient Dynamic-MoE Execution

Yue He, Jiahui Hu, Shaman Tang, Hua Zhou, Qiman Wu, Menglin Li, Yizhao Wang, Yuheng Zhang 等 22 位作者

We study post-training for dynamically routed mixture-of-experts (MoE) models, focusing on integrating independently optimized specialists while keeping consolidation efficient. Our approach combines calibrated multi-teacher on-policy distillation (C-MOPD), which matches each selected teacher on a local Top-$K$ support with teacher-wise loss normalization and clipping, with an execution path that uses post-capacity bounded-width dispatch, final-route replay, and asynchronous rollout--training overlap. On Turing-20B-A2B, the selected model achieves a four-domain normalized integration score of 0.9988 and retains at least 90.16\% of the measured specialist gain in every domain. At matched $K=32$, the full calibration objective scores 0.9962, compared with 0.9724 without calibration and 0.9834 without clipping. At a matched 8K response cap, the model exceeds both shared SFT and Qwen3-8B on all four reasoning-enabled mathematics and code benchmarks (unweighted mean: 85.92, versus 80.33 for Qwen3-8B and 74.21 for SFT), and improves over SFT on ten of twelve broader evaluation metrics. In a PPU-based profile, the combined execution configuration reduces consolidation step time from 398.7 to 139.3 seconds, an observed 2.86$\times$ speedup over serial execution. These results demonstrate strong specialist integration alongside more efficient consolidation, while reflecting the complete training and execution framework rather than any single component.

Look at Where You Think: Localization-Head Alignment for Fine-Grained Perception in Thinking VLMs

Yuan Wang, Wei Wu, Hongning Wang

Thinking vision-language models reason for thousands of tokens, yet still miss small details in high-resolution images. Zooming methods pay for extra inference passes, and outcome rewards never tell the model where to look at. In Qwen3.5-4B, we find that the bottleneck is selection, not seeing: a few attention heads, which we call localization heads, pick the evidence out of thousands of visual tokens; ablating four of them costs 13.2 points more than ablating four random heads, and their focus fades as the reasoning grows. We therefore propose Localization-Head Alignment (LHA), which makes attention a training signal: whenever the reasoning states a visual fact, these heads learn to look at the focal region rather than the background, as an auxiliary loss in both SFT and RL training. On benchmarks of V*, HR-Bench 4K and TreeBench, LHA lifts Qwen3.5-4B from 74.1% to 76.6% accuracy, the best single-pass 4B result we evaluate, ahead of multi-pass zooming and released 7B models. Alignment alone adds 1.8 points over otherwise identical training while shortening reasoning by 20%, and the gains carry over to Qwen2.5-VL-3B.

Semantic-Enriched Latent Visual Reasoning

Tianrun Xu, Yue Sun, Qixun Wang, Jingyi Lu, Yuan Wang, Tianren Zhang, Longteng Guo, Fengyun Rao 等 11 位作者

Multimodal latent-space reasoning aims to replace explicit thinking with images by performing visual reasoning directly in a compact latent space. However, existing approaches largely rely on visual supervision and produce latent representations that lack sufficient semantic richness, limiting their ability to support diverse region-level reasoning tasks. In this work, we introduce Semantic-Enriched Latent Visual Reasoning (SLVR), a two-stage learning framework that enriches latent representations with attribute-level visual semantics and aligns them with diverse reasoning objectives. In the first stage, SLVR learns semantically enriched region-centric latents under fine-grained attribute supervision. In the second stage, we design Multi-query Group Relative Policy Optimization (M-GRPO) to align latent representations across multiple queries grounded in the same region. To support this framework, we construct SLV-Set, comprising approximately 400K region-level attribute annotations and 800K multi-query question answering samples, and introduce SV-QA, a benchmark that evaluates latent reasoning under semantic variation. Experiments demonstrate that SLVR improves the robustness and semantic consistency of latent visual reasoning compared to existing baselines.

BiShield-TEE: On the (In-)Security of Unilateral Weight Obfuscation in On-Device TEE-Shielded LLM Partition

Zhiyuan Wang, Yuezhi Zhou, Ziqi Zhang, Zhu Zhang, Zhixing Tan, Yongheng Deng

On-device deployment of large language models (LLMs) is increasingly adopted due to latency and privacy requirements, but exposes proprietary models to reverse engineering and intellectual property theft. Trusted Execution Environments (TEEs) provide hardware-enforced isolation for on-device inference, yet most TEE-based parameter obfuscation relies on unilateral matrix transformations that obfuscate only the output side. We identify a vulnerability in this design, termed the Solution Determinacy Property (SDP): the obfuscation secret is uniquely determined, exposing the structure of the true key and enabling attackers to break the protection. Under our attacks, representative methods GroupCover and ArrowCloak are reduced to negligible protection, with attack accuracy reaching over 2.4 times the full-shielding black-box baseline and recovering near-complete model functionality. To address this vulnerability, we propose BiShield-TEE, a bilateral framework that induces Ambiguous Solutions through joint obfuscation of input and output dimensions, hiding the true key among many equally valid candidates. Experiments across diverse models and datasets show that BiShield-TEE confines attack accuracy to the full-shielding black-box baseline, while achieving higher inference efficiency than prior methods on real hardware. Our code is available at https://github.com/laduiw/BiShield-TEE.

VEvo-Harness: Causally-Guarded Self-Evolving Harness for Agentic Image Generation

Yuan Wang, Yuhang Yu, Mengting Chen, Tianrun Xu, Zihao Pan, Xuetao Feng, Wei Li

The central bottleneck in visual generation and editing has migrated from achieving pixel-level fidelity to satisfying densely constrained user specifications through increasingly agentic workflows. Prevailing agentic generation pipelines remain shallow generate-verify-rewrite loops treating VLM judgments as coarse visual feedback, either discarding repair experience or admitting ungated updates that poison skill library. With memorize and govern periods left open, they degrade into ungoverned iterators of repeated trial-and-error rather than continual self-evolving harness. Towards this issue, we present \textbf{VEvo-Harness}, the first causally-guarded continual self-evolving harness system for agentic visual generation. VEvo-Harness introduces four coupled innovations: (1) \textit{a visual traceback} that densifies sparse judgments into root-cause attributions with a hierarchical verification tree; (2) \textit{a visual continual governance} that admits only causally valid skill patches through counterfactual dual-arm image generation replay; (3) \textit{a lifecycle-managed harness state} that hierarchically distills root-cause-anchored episodes across working, experience, and pattern tiers into a persistent skill library of routable and causally verified capabilities; (4) \textit{a heterogeneous sandbox policy} that orchestrates a diverse action space of repair primitives, dynamically routing cost-aware interventions based on root causes to select the most effective strategy. VEvo-Harness surpasses state-of-the-art agentic methods and rivals proprietary generators (\textit{e.g.}, GPT-Image, Nano-Pro) while maintaining the continual harness evolution and generalization.

Precedent or Intent? What Coding Agents Follow When Evolving Existing Code

Haichao Zhu, Geyang Xu, Zhaorui Yang, Jiyuan Wang, Qian Zhang

Existing code reveals past implementation decisions but rarely explains the reasoning behind them. When coding agents implement new features or modify existing functionality, past decisions may conflict with new task instructions. This raises a fundamental question for agentic software evolution: when multiple implementations satisfy the same functional requirements, how do coding agents decide whether to follow existing code or new task instructions? We investigate this question through bidirectional, controlled experiments in purpose-built repositories, followed by validation in real-world open-source repositories. Our approach isolates three competing sources of guidance: (1) agents' default preferences, (2) repository precedents, and (3) explicit task instructions. We conduct 5,625 trials across four coding agents and six implementation pairs, with validation in four open-source repositories spanning three programming languages. We find that agents share the same default implementation choices, yet overwhelmingly follow repository precedent when it conflicts with those defaults (359/360 trials). Crucially, not all precedents carry equal influence: three supporting local files yield 96% adoption, compared with only 4% for sibling-resource files, and changing file placement alone can shift adoption from 0% to 100% at a fixed example count. When new task intent conflicts with existing code, written priority rules achieve substantially higher success than code examples alone (59/60 versus 38/60 joint successes for two agents on two implementation pairs). The effectiveness of explicit rules also extends to open-source repositories, where a harness-loaded rule raises joint success from 0/120 to 117/120. These findings motivate design-decision traceability that preserves not only implementation choices but also the rationale and priorities that should guide future changes.

FISH Omics Format: a standard enabling FAIR chromatin tracing data sharing across repositories

Rahi Navelkar, Andrea Cosolo, Iago Maceda Porto, Bogdan Bintu, Yubao Cheng, Vincent Gardeux, Silvia Gutnik, Taihei Fujimori 等 40 位作者

In recent years, multiplexed Fluorescence In Situ Hybridization (FISH) or FISH-omics methods have rapidly expanded, enabling the quantification of chromatin organization in single cells, often in conjunction with measurements of RNAs and proteins. These approaches have deepened our understanding of how 3D chromosome architecture relates to transcriptional activity and cell states in health and disease. Despite these advances, results from Chromatin Tracing FISH-omics experiments remain challenging to share, reuse, and analyze due to the absence of standardized data exchange specifications. Building on the release of microscopy metadata standards, we introduce the FISH Omics Format-Chromatin Tracing (FOF-CT), a community-developed standard for processed results from diverse imaging modalities. We describe the FOF-CT file format and present a curated collection of datasets deposited in the 4D Nucleome Data Portal and the OME Image Data Resource (IDR). We also highlight their potential for reuse, integration, and modeling by outlining example analysis pipelines and illustrating biological insights enabled by standardized, FAIR-compliant Chromatin Tracing datasets. FOF-CT natively represents both ball-and-stick and volumetric Chromatin Tracing data, unifying the two modalities within a single, modular table-based architecture (FOF-bas-CT and FOF-vol-CT, respectively).

Phases of Muon: When Muon Eclipses SignSGD

Elliot Paquette, Noah Marshall, Lucas Benigni, Guangyuan Wang, Atish Agarwala, Courtney Paquette

Muon and related spectral optimizers have recently demonstrated strong empirical performance as scalable stochastic methods, often outperforming Adam. Yet their behavior remains poorly understood. We analyze stochastic Muon, which orthogonalizes an exponential moving average of minibatch gradients, on a high-dimensional matrix-valued least squares problem, and we compare it with stochastic SignSGD, a simple baseline comparable to Adam. We derive explicit deterministic dynamics that provide a tractable framework for studying learning behavior. We show that Muon has non-linear sensitivity to the effective batch $B_{\rm eff}=B(1+β)/(1-β)$. With exact whitening and small $B_{\rm eff}$ Muon fails to resolve smaller eigenmodes, slowing down convergence. Momentum and finite Newton--Shulz iterations can act as a ridge which lessen this effect. This behavior is in contrast with SignSGD which has no transition, leading to different optimal learning rates, but with matching convergence rate up to a constant factor in the isotropic setting. For anisotropic data, large batch setting Muon performs a square-root preconditioning with respect to the data covariance spectrum while SignSGD provides no preconditioning for generic covariances. We analyze time to target loss in a power law covariance model and derive a phase diagram in the data exponent $α$ and target exponent $ζ$. Muon is favored for steep covariance spectra with rich targets ($α>2$, $ζ<α+1$), SignSGD is favored for flat spectra ($α<1$), and in other regions the winner depends on how the target loss scales with dimension. Our results shed light on why replacing Adam with Muon is not trivial even from a pure optimization perspective.

MCP-Net: Real-Time Coronary Perception Network and Topological Analysis for Robotic Guidewire Navigation

Sahar Nasirihaghighi, Tianyuan Wang, Kenan Niu, Stefano Stramigioli

Coronary guidewire navigation during percutaneous coronary intervention requires continuous interpretation of vessel anatomy, guidewire position, and target stenosis under two-dimensional X-ray fluoroscopy. While existing approaches commonly address vessel segmentation or device localization as separate tasks, a robotic system requires a more structured perception of the coronary scene to support downstream navigation. In this work, we present a simulation-driven framework centered on a Multi-Task Coronary Perception Network (MCP-Net) for robotic guidewire navigation, integrating coronary vessel segmentation, vascular topology extraction, and roadmap generation. Starting from three-dimensional coronary CT angiography, we generate simulated fluoroscopy images containing vascular structures, simulated guidewires, stenotic lesions with varying severity, and diverse vascular geometries, together with simulation-derived ground truth. MCP-Net jointly performs coronary vessel segmentation, guidewire-tip localization, and stenosis localization from a single fluoroscopic frame. These predictions are subsequently converted into a structured vascular graph containing centerlines, bifurcations, endpoints, branch directions, and branch angles. By associating the predicted stenosis with this graph, the framework generates a roadmap from the automatically selected graph root toward the target lesion. The results demonstrate that the proposed framework can jointly recover coronary perception targets and transform them into an interpretable vascular representation suitable for downstream robotic navigation.

Grasp-Then-Plan with Failure Attribution: A Closed Two-Stage Framework for Precise and Generalizable Robotic Manipulation

Jiahao Xu, Peiyuan Wang, Hanzhuo Zhang, Zihao Yu, Tianyu Fu, Hao Chen, Xuanhao Xiang, Zixuan Li 等 11 位作者

In robotic manipulation, the tight coupling between grasping and motion planning often obscures the true source of failure, leading to inefficient trial-and-error. To enable efficient long-horizon manipulation, we propose GTP-FA (Grasp-Then-Plan with Failure Attribution), a task-oriented two-stage 'grasp-then-plan' framework that generates grasp candidates and performs downstream motion planning conditioned on the selected grasp. Given a failed manipulation trajectory, we learn a failure attribution model that generalizes to unseen grasps and produces a stable distribution over failure modes for diagnosis-guided optimization. Based on these attribution results, we then optimize both modules in a diagnosis-driven manner: on the grasping side, we inject task-level priors and risk penalties into grasp candidate scoring and optimization to suppress unstable or task-incompatible grasps; on the planning side, we target high-risk initial states through data collection and fine-tuning to address genuine planning bottlenecks. We evaluate the proposed framework in both simulation and real-robot experiments, and show that GTP-FA improves the corresponding base learners across RL, IL, diffusion-policy, and VLA-based settings, achieving substantially higher overall task success rates.

Deep Learning Volumetric Segmentation for Prediction of Cavity Geometry in Underground Jet Boring Mining

Giovanni Zingaro, Yuan Wang, Deepak Meena, Peter Cheng, Russell Buchanan, John Quilty, Robert Gracie

The Jet Boring System (JBS) is a proprietary technology developed by Cameco Corporation to extract high-grade uranium ore at the Cigar Lake Mine in Northern Saskatchewan, Canada. The JBS remotely excavates ore using a high-pressure water jet that cuts cavities within an artificially frozen ore body. This study outlines a Deep Learning (DL)-based workflow that formulates the cavity prediction problem as a volumetric binary semantic segmentation task. A preprocessing pipeline assembles drilling and jetting records, cavity scans, and a mine-wide geology block model onto a common voxel grid, where each voxel in the prediction is labelled as consumed or non-consumed during jetting. A three-dimensional U-Net with a backfill residual branch is trained on historical field cavities. The model is benchmarked against a baseline consisting of a cylindrical cavity centered along the pilot hole, with a diameter defined by domain experts. The proposed workflow achieves an IoU of 0.601 $\pm$ 0.088 and an F$_1$-Score of 0.747 $\pm$ 0.077 on a held-out test set, improving on the cylindrical baseline currently used in cavity planning by 22.4% and 14.7%, respectively. An eXplainable Artificial Intelligence (XAI) feature attribution approach is applied to identify the most influential input driving the predicted cavity geometry. The accuracy of the proposed model demonstrates its potential to support mine planning.

WorldArena 2.0: Extending Embodied World Model Benchmarking on Modality, Functionality and Platform

Zhuohang Li, Yiding Ma, Yu Shang, Lei Jin, Shengyuan Wang, Jianjie Fang, Zhaolu Wang, Xvyuan Liu 等 29 位作者

World models have emerged as a central paradigm for embodied intelligence, enabling agents to predict action-conditioned future and reason about environmental dynamics. However, existing embodied world model benchmarks are still largely confined to vision-only prediction, offline embodied applications, and simulator-based evaluation, making them insufficient for assessing increasingly comprehensive world models. In this work, we introduce WorldArena 2.0, an expanded benchmark that systematically broadens embodied world model evaluation along three dimensions: modality, functionality, and platform. Along the modality dimension, WorldArena 2.0 extends evaluation from vision-only to visuotactile modalities, enabling assessment of multimodal perception and prediction. Along the functionality dimension, it extends beyond policy evaluation and planning to assess world models as interactive RL environments for policy optimization. Along the platform dimension, it moves beyond simulator-only evaluation to a diverse suite of simulated and real-world robotic settings across multiple embodiments. Under a standardized protocol, WorldArena 2.0 comprehensively evaluates perceptual quality, interactive utility, and cross-platform performance, providing a comprehensive testbed for tracking progress toward embodied world models. The project page including codes and demos is available at: https://world-arena.ai/.

A JiT-Based Denoising Defense Method Against Adversarial Examples for Radio Signal Automatic Modulation Classification

Shiwei Liu, Linyuan Wang, Nuolin Sun, Libin Hou, Bin Yan

Automatic modulation classification (AMC) of radio signals is a core technology for spectrum monitoring and electromagnetic situational awareness. Deep neural networks (DNNs) play an important role in this field owing to their powerful feature extraction capabilities and end-to-end learning paradigm. However, their vulnerability to adversarial attacks poses serious security challenges to practical deployment. Adversarial training, a common defense, has limitations including poor generalization across attack types and high training costs. Inspired by Just image Transformers (JiT), a diffusion generative model that directly predicts clean images, this paper proposes a JiT-based denoising defense against adversarial examples for radio signal modulation classification. During training, a signal-specific 1D Transformer denoising network is optimized via flow matching to directly predict clean signal samples. It thereby learns a mapping that projects arbitrary examples back onto the low-dimensional manifold of clean signal examples. During inference, arbitrary examples are fed into the trained network and directly projected onto this manifold. This enables denoising defense without prior knowledge of attacks. Experiments on the RML2018.01A dataset were conducted without attack information, using a single empirically selected, fixed denoising start time. Compared with PGD-based adversarial training, the proposed method achieves a relative improvement of at least 20.58% in robust accuracy under PGD attacks. It also achieves a relative improvement of 10.20% in classification accuracy on clean examples. When evaluated against attack types unseen during adversarial training, the proposed method provides stronger defense than adversarial training. In particular, at higher attack strengths, it achieves a relative improvement of at least 39.72% in robust accuracy.

VGGT-$Ω$

Jianyuan Wang, Minghao Chen, Shangzhan Zhang, Nikita Karaev, Johannes Schönberger, Patrick Labatut, Piotr Bojanowski, David Novotny 等 10 位作者

Recent feed-forward reconstruction models, such as VGGT, have proven competitive with traditional optimization-based reconstructors while also providing geometry-aware features useful for other tasks. Here, we show that the quality of these models scales predictably with model and data size. We do so by introducing VGGT-$Ω$, which substantially improves reconstruction accuracy, efficiency, and capabilities for both static and dynamic scenes. To enable training this model at an unprecedented scale, we introduce architectural changes that improve training efficiency, a high-quality data annotation pipeline that supports dynamic scenes, and a self-supervised learning protocol. We simplify VGGT's architecture by using a single dense prediction head with multi-task supervision and removing the expensive high-resolution convolutional layers. We also use registers to aggregate scene information into a compact representation and introduce register attention, which restricts inter-frame information exchange to these registers, in part replacing global attention. In this way, during training, VGGT-$Ω$ uses only about 30% of the GPU memory of its predecessor, allowing us to train with 15x more supervised data than prior work and to leverage vast amounts of unlabeled video data. VGGT-$Ω$ achieves strong results for reconstruction of static and dynamic scenes across multiple benchmarks, for example, improving over the previous best camera estimation accuracy on Sintel by 77%. We also show that the learned registers can improve vision-language-action models and support alignment with language, suggesting that reconstruction can be a powerful and scalable proxy task for spatial understanding. CausGround: Causal Interaction Grounding for Adaptive Embodied Planning

Yijun Shen, Diqi He, Jinbang Guo, Wanyue Zhang, Jiaming Mi, Huan Yang, Zhongyuan Wang, Zhiwei Yu 等 9 位作者

Multimodal large language models (MLLMs) show promising reasoning capabilities, but reliable physical interaction requires planning that accounts for when actions are executable and how they change the world. These preconditions and effects are environment-dependent and often not captured by MLLMs, making adaptation challenging. Yet existing approaches either require costly environment-specific training or rely on unstructured interaction experience that is difficult to reuse. Therefore, we introduce CausGround, a non-parametric causal interaction grounding framework that distills interaction experience into reusable action-centered causal knowledge. CausGround identifies action preconditions and effects and organizes them in a factorized world-state representation capturing object attributes and inter-object relations. At planning time, task-relevant causal dependencies are grounded in current observations to support backward reasoning over preconditions and forward reasoning over effects for action selection and multi-step planning. We evaluate CausGround on simulated high-level planning, interaction reasoning, and real-world robot manipulation. On adapted VirtualHome and RoboCasa benchmarks, CausGround improves vision-based high-level planning across MLLM backbones, increasing average task success from 24.9% to 53.3% on VirtualHome and closed-loop planning success from 43.0% to 57.0% on RoboCasa. On SWITCH, average interaction reasoning accuracy increases from 25.8% to 31.9%, indicating improved action selection, recovery, and verification. Moreover, real-world experiments show that CausGround reasons backward from MLLM-interpreted goals to derive executable high-level action sequences for sequential manipulation. These results demonstrate that reusable action preconditions and effects support long-horizon embodied planning across diverse environments without parameter updates.

ProductResearch: Training E-Commerce Deep Research Agents via Multi-Agent Synthetic Trajectory Distillation

Jiangyuan Wang, Kejun Xiao, Huaipeng Zhao, Tao Luo, Xiaoyi Zeng

Large Language Model (LLM)-based agents show promise for e-commerce conversational shopping, yet existing implementations lack the interaction depth and contextual breadth required for complex product research. Meanwhile, the Deep Research paradigm, despite advancing information synthesis in web search, suffers from domain gaps when transferred to e-commerce. We propose ProductResearch, a multi-agent framework that synthesizes high-fidelity, long-horizon tool-use trajectories for training robust e-commerce shopping agents. The framework employs a User Agent to infer nuanced shopping intents from behavioral histories, and a Supervisor Agent that orchestrates iterative collaboration with a Research Agent to generate synthetic trajectories culminating in comprehensive, insightful product research reports. These trajectories are rigorously filtered and distilled through a reflective internalization process that consolidates multi-agent supervisory interactions into coherent single-role training examples, enabling effective fine-tuning of LLM agents for complex shopping inquiries. Extensive experiments show that a compact MoE model fine-tuned on our synthetic data achieves substantial improvements over its base model in response comprehensiveness, research depth, and user-perceived utility, approaching the performance of frontier proprietary deep research systems and establishing multi-agent synthetic trajectory training as an effective and scalable paradigm for enhancing LLM-based shopping assistance.

LightReasoner: Can Small Language Models Teach Large Language Models Reasoning?

Jingyuan Wang, Yankai Chen, Zhonghang Li University of Hong Kong and South China University of Technology, Chao Huang University of Hong Kong

Large language models (LLMs) have demonstrated remarkable progress in reasoning, often through supervised fine-tuning (SFT). However, SFT is resource-intensive, relying on large curated datasets, rejection-sampled demonstrations, and uniform optimization across all tokens—even though only a fraction carry meaningful learning value. In this work, we explore a counterintuitive idea: can smaller language models (SLMs) teach larger language models (LLMs) by revealing high-value reasoning moments that reflect the latter’s unique strength? We propose LightReasoner, a novel framework that leverages the behavioral divergence between a stronger expert model (LLM) and a weaker amateur model (SLM). LightReasoner operates in two stages: (1) a sampling stage that pinpoints critical reasoning moments and constructs supervision examples capturing the expert’s advantage through expert–amateur contrast, and (2) a fine-tuning stage that aligns the expert model with these distilled examples, amplifying its reasoning strengths. Across seven benchmarks, LightReasoner improves accuracy by up to 28.1%, while reducing time consumption by 90%, sampled problems by 80%, and tuned token usage by 99%, all without relying on ground-truth labels. By turning weaker SLMs into effective teaching signals, LightReasoner offers a scalable and resource-efficient approach for advancing LLM reasoning.

Neo-Classic: A Benchmark for Evaluating Linguistic-Aesthetic Reasoning in Classical Chinese Poetry

While Large Language Models (LLMs) achieve high accuracy on established Classical Chinese Poetry benchmarks, it remains challenging to distinguish transferable Linguistic-Aesthetic Reasoning from reliance on familiar pre-training patterns. To address this issue, we introduce Neo-Classic, an evaluation benchmark that combines a constructionist Out-of-Sample (OOS) dataset with a suite of reverse understanding probes. Unlike traditional benchmarks that rely on verification or generation over historical corpora, Neo-Classic comprises strictly metrical poetry authored by contemporary experts, reducing the possibility of direct retrieval. We evaluate state-of-the-art models, including Qwen3-Max, Gemini-3-Pro, and DeepSeek-V3.2, across five behavioral probes designed to test hierarchical constraint satisfaction. Our results reveal two primary limitations. First, a performance gap of 20%–50% emerges when models transition from historical to contemporary texts. Second, models exhibit substantial difficulties in discourse-level ordering tasks, with standard accuracy remaining low (0–13%). Although expert-level guidance improves the performance of reasoning-enhanced models to 36%, a notable gap with human experts persists. These findings suggest that while current LLMs capture local formal patterns, they struggle with global hierarchical planning required for robust Linguistic-Aesthetic Reasoning.

OptiCo: Adaptive Distributed Training Optimization via Collaborative Agent Reasoning

Sheng Chen Zhejiang lab, Tang Zhe, Weixing Zhang Zhejiang Lab, Fei Yang Zhejiang Lab, Yuanyuan Wang, Tianlin Li Beihang University, Yang Liu Nanyang Technological University

Optimizing distributed training strategies for large-scale deep learning models remains a critical challenge in both industry and academia, demanding extensive domain expertise and manual tuning. Existing automated distributed training frameworks are plagued by over-reliance on prior profiling, poor generalization across models/hardware, and scalability constraints stemming from vast search spaces, impeding real-world applicability. To address these challenges, we propose OptiCo, a model-driven multi-agent framework that leverages Large Language Models (LLMs) to enable automatic and explainable distributed training strategy configuration. OptiCo orchestrates a team of reasoning-driven agents, through a shared Global Message Pool facilitating persistent memory and coordination. By employing inception prompting and Chain-Of-Thought (COT) reasoning, agents iteratively refine configurations, detect bottlenecks, analyze failures, and optimize resource utilization. Evaluated across 25+ configurations spanning diverse model architectures, GPU types and scales, OptiCo outperforms expert-designed strategies within 20 iterations, achieving an average performance improvement of 1.84%, with gains ranging from 0.08% to 8.65%. The source codes are avaiable at https://github.com/TangZhe96/OptiCo-public.

MAGNET: Towards Adaptive GUI Agents with Memory-Driven Knowledge Evolution

Libo Sun Fudan University, Jiwen Zhang Fudan University, Siyuan Wang The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Zhongyu Wei Fudan University

Mobile GUI agents powered by large foundation models enable autonomous task execution in applications, but frequent updates that alter UI appearance and reorganize workflows cause agents trained on historical data to fail. Despite these surface changes, we observe that functional semantics and task intents remain fundamentally stable. Building on this insight, we introduce MAGNET, a memory-driven adaptive agent framework with dual-level memory: stationary memory that links diverse visual features to stable functional semantics for robust action grounding and procedural memory that captures stable task intents across varying workflows. Furthermore, we propose a dynamic memory evolution mechanism that continuously refines both memories by prioritizing frequently accessed knowledge. Evaluations on the online benchmark AndroidWorld demonstrate substantial improvements over memory-augmented baselines, while offline benchmarks confirm consistent gains under distribution shifts. These results validate that leveraging stable structures across interface changes improves agent performance and generalization in evolving software environments.

Interleaved Latent Visual Reasoning with Selective Perceptual Modeling

Shuai Dong, Siyuan Wang The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Xingyu Liu, Chenglin Li, Haowen Hou ETHZ - ETH Zurich and Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Zhongyu Wei Fudan University

Interleaved reasoning paradigms enhance Multimodal Large Language Models (MLLMs) with visual feedback but are hindered by the prohibitive computational cost of re-encoding pixel-dense images. A promising alternative, latent visual reasoning, circumvents this bottleneck yet faces limitations: methods either fail to capture intermediate state evolution due to single-step, non-interleaved structures, or sacrifice precise perceptual modeling by over-compressing features. We introduce Interleaved Latent Visual Reasoning (ILVR), a framework that unifies dynamic state evolution with precise perceptual modeling. ILVR interleaves textual generation with latent visual representations that act as specific, evolving cues for subsequent reasoning. Specifically, we employ a self-supervision strategy where a momentum teacher model selectively distills relevant features from ground-truth intermediate images into sparse supervision targets. This adaptive selection mechanism guides the model to autonomously generate context-aware visual signals. Extensive experiments on multimodal reasoning benchmarks demonstrate that ILVR outperforms existing approaches, effectively bridging the gap between fine-grained perception and sequential multimodal reasoning.

Diagnosing Hidden Instabilities in Model Editing via Uncertainty Quantification

Zihan Gu Institute of Information Engineering, Chinese Academy of Sciences, TianYi Zhang University of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Xinyan Zhang independent, Zhiyuan Wang, Han Zhang, Yuhao Wei, Jiacheng Lu Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Tianyi Ma 等 11 位作者

Model editing provides a promising mechanism for updating large language models (LLMs) without expensive retraining. Existing approaches, particularly locate-and-edit methods based on least-squares optimization, aim to introduce targeted knowledge changes while preserving pre-trained behavior. In this work, we show that this objective is fundamentally fragile under standard single-edit evaluation protocols. We first develop a unified theoretical framework that characterizes activation-based editing as a constrained intervention on intermediate representations. Within this framework, we demonstrate that least-squares edits cannot, in general, isolate target updates from unrelated activations, giving rise to unavoidable interference that accumulates with successive edits. Crucially, this degradation can remain undetected in single-edit settings when assessed using conventional success and locality metrics. To expose such hidden instabilities, we introduce an uncertainty-based evaluation protocol that combines structured semantic perturbations with uncertainty quantification based on Sampling with Perturbation for UQ. By measuring edit-induced growth in aleatoric and epistemic uncertainty, our method reveals local knowledge conflicts that are invisible to existing benchmarks. Extensive experiments across multiple models, datasets, and editing algorithms show that both least-squares and other parameter-update-based methods consistently increase post-edit uncertainty. Together, our results suggest that current evaluation practices substantially overestimate the reliability of single-edit model editing, and that uncertainty-based diagnostics are necessary for assessing edit stability.

Graph Reasoning Paradigm: Structured and Symbolic Reasoning with Topology-Aware Reinforcement Learning for Large Language Models

Runxuan Liu, Xianhao Ou Harbin Institute of Technology, Xinyan Ma Harbin Institute of Technology, Jiyuan Wang, Jiafeng Liang Harbin Institute of Technology, Jiaqi Li Tianjin Normal University, Tao He Harbin Institute of Technology, Zheng Chu Harbin Institute of Technology 等 16 位作者

Long Chain-of-Thought (LCoT), achieved by Reinforcement Learning with Verifiable Rewards (RLVR), has proven effective in enhancing the reasoning capabilities of Large Language Models (LLMs). However, reasoning in current LLMs is primarily generated as plain text, where performing semantic evaluation on such unstructured data creates a computational bottleneck during training. Despite RLVR-based optimization, existing methods still suffer from coarse-grained supervision, reward hacking, high training costs, and poor generalization. To address these issues, we propose the Graph Reasoning Paradigm (GRP), which realizes structured and symbolic reasoning, implemented via graph-structured representations with step-level cognitive labels. Building upon GRP, we further design Process-Aware Stratified Clipping Group Relative Policy Optimization (PASC-GRPO), which leverages structured evaluation to replace semantic evaluation, achieves process-aware verification through graph-structured outcome rewards, and mitigates reward hacking via stratified clipping advantage estimation. Experiments demonstrate significant improvements across mathematical reasoning and code generation tasks. Data, models, and code will be released later.

MiniRAG: A Lightweight RAG system with Small Language Models

Tianyu Fan, Jingyuan Wang, Xubin Ren, Chao Huang University of Hong Kong

The growing demand for efficient and lightweight Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) systems has highlighted significant challenges when deploying Small Language Models (SLMs) in existing RAG frameworks. Current approaches face severe performance degradation due to SLMs’ limited semantic understanding and text processing capabilities, creating barriers for widespread adoption in resource-constrained scenarios. To address these fundamental limitations, we present MiniRAG, a novel RAG system designed for simplicity and efficiency. MiniRAG introduces two key technical innovations: (1) a semantic-aware heterogeneous graph indexing mechanism that combines text chunks and named entities in a unified structure, reducing reliance on complex semantic understanding, and (2) a lightweight topology-enhanced retrieval approach that leverages graph structures for efficient knowledge discovery without requiring advanced language capabilities. Our extensive experiments demonstrate that MiniRAG achieves comparable performance to LLM-based methods even when using SLMs while requiring only 25% of the storage space. Additionally, we contribute a comprehensive benchmark dataset for evaluating lightweight RAG systems under realistic on-device scenarios with complex queries.
