Real-world multimodal misinformation often involves mixed forgery sources, requiring sample-specific detection strategies. Existing tool-augmented methods rely on predefined workflows or inference-time planning, limiting adaptability or increasing inference cost. To address this issue, we introduce \textbf{MM-VeriAgent}, which learns to verify mixed-source multimodal misinformation with tools. We first build \textbf{MM-VeriTools}, a specialized toolkit for misinformation detection agents. By benchmarking various candidate models and methods on the sub-tasks required by mixed-source detection, we select the strongest for textual, visual, and cross-modal forgery analysis and encapsulate them as callable tools with a unified interface. On top of this toolkit, we train the LVLM agent with reinforcement learning to teach it how to use these tools to better solve mixed-source detection. Since many of the tools are specialized models whose online execution at every rollout severely limits RL efficiency, we further introduce \textbf{Tool-Execution Cache}, which pre-executes candidate tool calls and reuses their cached outputs during training. This preserves multi-step rollouts while reducing online tool execution, largely improving the training efficiency.Experiments on MMFakeBench demonstrate substantial accuracy gains over the base model without explicit tool search at inference time. Ablation and efficiency analyses further validate the learned tool-use policy and show that Tool-Execution Cache reduces online tool executions during training.
The rapid development of mobile imaging and social platforms has led to explosive growth in user-generated content images, making their systematic and comprehensive perceptual assessment increasingly important. Existing image perception benchmarks are typically task-oriented, curating specific scenarios for quality or aesthetic assessment and applying a uniform perceptual criterion across diverse scenarios. This limits their ability to capture the scene diversity and perceptual complexity of real-world UGC images. To address these limitations, we introduce ScenePercept-Bench, a benchmark designed to reflect the distribution of real-world UGC images, comprising 23,100 images across 21 categories and 105 fine-grained scenes. To account for the influence of scene context on human perception, we design a hierarchical, scene-aware annotation protocol, covering visual quality, aesthetic perception, and scene semantics, with 15 attributes in total. Each image is annotated with an overall score, 15 attribute-level scores, and structured explanatory reasoning. Building on this benchmark, we further introduce Scenario-Conditioned Perceptual Alignment, a training framework that tackles the heterogeneity of perceptual criteria across scenarios. SCPA jointly optimizes absolute score prediction, preference ranking, and cross-scenario calibration, preserving the model general perceptual assessment ability while encouraging it to explore and adapt perceptual criteria across different scenarios. Extensive experiments demonstrate that SCPA achieves state-of-the-art performance in UGC image perception and generalizes effectively to established IQA and IAA benchmarks.

Accurate assessment of critical thinking is historically limited by the Intention Behavior Gap in psychology: the disconnect between what individuals self-reported disposition and their actual practical behaviors. We try to bridge this gap with MASA (Multi-Agent Scenario-based Assessment), a framework that operationalizes cognitive assessment into an interpretable and interactive multi-agent workflow with Assessment Chain-of-Thought (AsCoT). Validating on both large-scale simulations (N=1,161) and human participants (N=70), we find that MASA aligns better with human expert ratings (r=0.882) than traditional gold-standard inventories (r=0.720), with an average cost of only 0.41 per participant. These results suggest that by shifting from self-report inventory to behavior-grounded dialogue, MASA offers a more accurate, cost-effective, and transparent solution for real-world cognitive evaluation.

Project-Based Learning (PBL) is an important learning method that promotes understanding and acquiring practical skills through training learners through a project. However, effective PBL often requires sustained orchestration and collaboration, but existing LLM-based learning tools provide partial assistance without explicitly modeling these roles, and overly comprehensive help provided by LLM can reduce learner autonomy. We propose SimPBL, a multi-agent framework with an orchestrator agent that provides adaptive scaffolding from interaction logs and collaborator agents that support project work through boundary-aware collaboration. We conduct comprehensive evaluation to study the effectiveness of SimPBL, where we observe a 14% improvement in learner examination score. Results from extensive studies further highlights the ability of SimPBL to manage learning behavior and improve learning experience.
