Selective Event Evidence and Persistent Temporal Priors for Event-Based Point Tracking

Xiaokai Song, Zhang Li, Leqi Liu, Yibin Ye, Kun Wang, Xichao Teng

原文摘要

Event cameras enable tracking under fast motion and challenging illumination. However, stable long-term point tracking remains challenging: event activity is sparse and varies with scene content and motion, complicating correspondence, while trajectory estimates can drift over long sequences. Together, these challenges motivate a tracker that selectively uses informative event evidence and retains trajectory constraints across temporal windows. We propose Selective Event Evidence and Persistent Temporal Priors (SEPT), an event-only framework for tracking any point (TAP) over long sequences. SEPT introduces two complementary modules: Task-Adaptive Event Evidence Modulation (TEEM) and Persistent Trajectory Prior (PTP). Using only tracking supervision, TEEM learns a bounded reliability field that weights the event tensor across space, time, and channels before feature extraction. PTP carries geometric information across overlapping windows by marginalizing a fixed local quadratic trajectory model with a Schur complement. Its visibility-aware correction refines overlap coordinates, while a clipped terminal velocity initializes coordinates at newly exposed timestamps. SEPT builds on the ETAP architecture. SEPT is trained exclusively on synthetic EventKubric data and evaluated on five datasets across TAP and feature tracking. Results show that SEPT outperforms the retrained ETAP baseline in average Jaccard for TAP and in feature age and expected feature age for feature tracking; it also surpasses several methods combining event and frame inputs on EC and EDS. The source code is publicly available at https://github.com/sssxxxkkkk/SEPT.

Joint Latent Reasoning and Observation for Agentic Video Understanding

Junzhang Liu, Hao Yuan, Yiming Wu, Qi Zhang, Long Chen, Zhecan Wang

原文摘要

Effective video agents must learn not only how to answer, but also where to look next. Transferring this capability to smaller models is challenging because each observation serves two purposes: supporting an answer and guiding the search for further evidence. Textual descriptions may capture what is currently visible while omitting cues needed for subsequent acquisition. We introduce Latent Agentic Reasoning for Video Analysis (LARVA), a framework that distills multi-round video agents through jointly learned latent reasoning and visual observations. Rather than communicating through captions, an observer passes compact continuous representations to a reasoner that selects the next acquisition action or produces the final answer. Crucially, action and answer supervision propagate through this interface, training the observer to communicate information useful for downstream decisions. Observation reconstruction and reasoning-distribution alignment provide auxiliary supervision from textual teacher trajectories. Across five video-understanding benchmarks, LARVA achieves strong performance with 4B and 7B backbones. On VideoHolmes, Video-MME, and LVBench, the 7B model outperforms a textual CoT student trained on the same teacher trajectories by 5.1, 2.5, and 3.7 percentage points, respectively. These results highlight the value of jointly learning how agents represent evidence and act on it when distilling video-understanding capabilities.

Advancement or Acceleration? How Data Curation Improves LLM Training

Jiaxing Wang, Zicheng Zhang, Deping Xiang, Jin Xu, Yong Li, Chao Liu, Pengzhang Liu, Qixia Jiang

原文摘要

While data curation is widely credited with improving large language model training, a basic question remains unresolved: does curation expand what a model can ultimately learn, or merely reach the same solution faster? In this paper, we formalize this distinction between advancement (improving the attainable performance) and acceleration (reaching the same performance with less data). Through an analytic characterization and real-world LLM experiments, we show that advancement requires a correctable train-target gap. When the baseline training and target objectives coincide, no curation policy improves the endpoint, although curation may still accelerate training. This reframes advancement as a property of the curation task rather than the curation method. Under a common gap-centric view of data mixture and selection, we operationalize this condition as the $Δ$-test, an observable discrepancy between the uncurated baseline's training and target losses that is computable prior to expensive curation. Across extensive experiments, an appreciably nonzero $Δ$ predicts persistent gains, whereas gains near $Δ=0$ tend to diminish as the training budget grows. Beyond individual methods, our findings recenter data curation on the task itself and point to target-set construction as a promising direction for shaping what curation can achieve.

Correlation-Aware Exploration for Long-Trace Reasoning

Junxing Hu, Zicheng Zhang, Zhiqian Zhang, Ai Han, Yifeng Zhang, Pengzhang Liu, Ling Li

原文摘要

Reasoning models trained with Group Relative Policy Optimization (GRPO) now produce chains of thought thousands of tokens long, and recent studies reveal that such training is prone to policy collapse. Entropy regularization is the standard remedy, but it works by pushing probability mass away from the few tokens that carry it and toward the vast low-probability tail of the vocabulary, and it applies this force once for every token of the reasoning trace. This puts the bonus in direct conflict with the entropy decay that convergence requires, and makes its coefficient difficult to set in the long-trace regime. To resolve this tension, we propose Info-GRPO, an information-theoretic framework that cultivates correlation between the policy and a latent prior. Rather than raising entropy everywhere, Info-GRPO builds on the mutual information between a latent variable and the trajectory it induces: augmenting prompts with latent seeds during training lets the model explore diverse policies correlated with the prior, while the seed-conditioned entropy is guided toward convergence. Diversity is therefore carried across whole reasoning traces rather than by per-token randomness, and exploration no longer fights entropy reduction. Experiments show that Info-GRPO outperforms vanilla GRPO and entropy-regularized GRPO across diverse reasoning benchmarks. On AIME24, it improves $Avg@8$ over GRPO by 3.75%, 1.66%, 4.16%, and 4.17% on four backbones, and it reaches the same majority-vote accuracy with $8\times$ fewer samples. Code and models will be publicly released.

OpenGlass: A Sensing-Computing Split Architecture for Local MLLM-Driven Real-Time Visual Assistance

Mengzhang Li, Yuan Yao National University of Singapore

原文摘要

We present OpenGlass, an open-source, privacy-oriented, local-first system for low-latency multimodal visual assistance, with a primary focus on blind and low-vision users. Cloud MLLM assistants offer strong visual understanding, but often require uploading first-person visual data and can suffer multi-second network delays; wearable glasses are ideal for sensing, but cannot host large models under tight compute and power budgets. OpenGlass addresses this gap with a sensing-computing split: an ESP32-based glasses-side unit captures visual context, while a nearby consumer-grade device performs local MLLM inference and local speech output, reducing cloud reliance and keeping raw egocentric visual data on user-controlled devices by default. We evaluate response quality, query-ready-to-audio latency, safety-aware abstention, and auditable logs. Under real ESP32 Wi-Fi capture, OpenGlass reaches 993 ms median user-to-audio latency with resized payloads and 1625 ms with raw 1280\times720 payloads; 97.5% and 93.3% of trials fall below 2 s, respectively. OpenGlass is a user-initiated visual-assistance reference platform for obstacle/hazard awareness, sign/object queries, and image-quality self-checking, rather than a certified navigation aid. We release source code, hardware instructions, prompts, evaluation data, and logs.

原文摘要

Reinforcement Learning with Verifiable Rewards (RLVR) has driven substantial progress in reasoning-intensive domains like mathematics. However, optimizing open-ended generation remains challenging due to the lack of ground truth. While rubric-based evaluation offers a structured proxy for verification, existing methods suffer from scalability bottlenecks and coarse criteria, resulting in a supervision ceiling effect. To address this, we propose an automated Coarse-to-Fine Rubric Generation framework. By synergizing principle-guided synthesis, multi-model aggregation, and difficulty evolution, our approach produces comprehensive and highly discriminative criteria capable of capturing the subtle nuances. Based on this framework, we introduce RubricHub, a large-scale (110k) and multi-domain dataset. We validate its utility through a two-stage post-training pipeline comprising Rubric-based Rejection Sampling Fine-Tuning (RuFT) and Reinforcement Learning (RuRL). Experimental results demonstrate that RubricHub unlocks significant performance gains: our post-trained Qwen3-14B achieves state-of-the-art (SOTA) results on HealthBench (69.3), surpassing proprietary frontier models such as GPT-5.

HiSVD: Principled Low-Rank Approximation of LLMs via Hierarchical Modeling of Information Capacity and Spectral Structure

Zhuo Chen, Minghao Li, Xiaoqian Ma Xiaohongshu, Siqi Fan University of Electronic Science and Technology of China, Xiusheng Huang, Zhang Liujie Xiaohongshu, Weihang Chen

原文摘要

Singular Value Decomposition (SVD) enables hardware-agnostic LLM compression via low-rank approximation, yet optimal rank allocation remains a bottleneck. Existing methods predominantly derive layer importance from performance-oriented proxies. Yet, these metrics fail to distinguish between representational importance and structural compressibility, consequently obscuring the fine-grained influence of spectral distribution shape. We demonstrate this disconnect through spectral analysis, revealing that layers with similar information capacity can exhibit markedly different singular value decay behaviors, corresponding to varying degrees of redundancy in the spectral tail. This imperfect coupling implies that allocation strategies driven solely by importance leave significant compression opportunities underexploited. To address this gap, we propose HiSVD, a hierarchical rank allocation framework with two stages: (1) Capacity-Anchored Baseline Allocation, which preserves representational stability by aligning rank budgets with information capacity; and (2) Redundancy-Aware Refinement, which modulates this baseline using tail redundancy to penalize structural excess. Experiments on LLMs demonstrate that HiSVD achieves superior compression efficiency, significantly outperforming state-of-the-art baselines by effectively exploiting this spectral heterogeneity.

原文摘要

Evaluating the multilingual and multicultural capabilities of Large Language Models (LLMs) is essential for their global utility. However, current benchmarks face three critical limitations: (1) fragmented evaluation dimensions that often neglect deep cultural nuances; (2) insufficient language coverage in subjective tasks relying on low-quality machine translation; and (3) shallow analysis that lacks diagnostic depth beyond simple rankings. To address these, we introduce GaoYao, a comprehensive benchmark with 182.3k samples, 26 languages and 51 nations/areas. First, GaoYao proposes a unified framework categorizing evaluation tasks into three cultural layers (General Multilingual, Cross-cultural, Monocultural) and nine cognitive sub-layers. Second, we achieve native-quality expansion by leveraging experts to rigorously localize subjective benchmarks into 19 languages and synthesizing cross-cultural test sets for 34 cultures, surpassing prior coverage by up to 111%. Third, we conduct an in-depth diagnostic analysis on 20+ flagship and compact LLMs. Our findings reveal significant geographical performance disparities and distinct gaps between tasks, offering a reliable map for future work. We release the benchmark.
