Large-scale document processing requires contextually aware table extraction (TE) that is both accurate and efficient. Yet current approaches require billions of parameters, hundreds of autoregressive steps, or costly API inference. Motivated by this, we introduce the Page-Object Table Transformer (POTATR), a lightweight 29M parameter image-to-graph model that extends the Table Transformer (TATR) for contextualized page-level TE. POTATR outperforms all models tested on the PubTables-v2 Single Pages benchmark -- including frontier MLLMs -- achieving $\textrm{GriTS}_\textrm{Con}$ of 0.964 while running over 130$\times$ faster at 300$\times$ lower cost. Further, POTATR's output is spatially grounded: every recognized element has a bounding box, enabling visual verification and geometric text assignment. As a result, POTATR performs unified page-level TE while composing with other models, enabling extension to scanned documents via external OCR and to full-document TE via techniques like cross-page merging. Code and models are available at https://github.com/kensho-technologies/POTATR.
Table extraction (TE) is a key challenge in document understanding. Traditional approaches detect tables first, then recognize their structure. Recently, interest has surged in developing methods, such as vision-language models (VLMs), to extract tables directly in their full page or document context. However, a lack of annotated data has made progress difficult to demonstrate. To address this, we create a new large-scale dataset, PubTables-v2. PubTables-v2 unifies TE across various levels of surrounding context and, notably, is the first benchmark for multi-page TE. Our evaluations reveal that while current frontier models strongly outperform ($+0.354\ \textrm{GriTS}_\textrm{Con}$) small models on the most complex task (full-document multi-page TE), this gap can be closed or even reversed ($-0.056\ \textrm{GriTS}_\textrm{Con}$) on narrower tasks (cropped table extraction) with targeted training. Data is available at https://huggingface.co/datasets/kensho/PubTables-v2.

Contactless fingerprint recognition has gained increasing attention due to its advantages in hygiene and acquisition flexibility. However, the absence of physical contact constraints introduces severe nonlinear geometric distortions caused by free finger poses in 3D space, resulting in a substantial cross-modal domain gap between contactless and conventional contact-based fingerprints. Existing solutions largely rely on explicit geometric correction or image enhancement, which are fragile under extreme pose variations. In this paper, we propose Identity-Consistent Multi-Pose Generation of Contactless Fingerprints (IMPOSE), a physics-inspired framework that synthesizes identity-preserving, multi-pose contactless fingerprint samples to empower recognition models. IMPOSE consists of three stages: (1) rolled fingerprint identity generation via latent diffusion with discrete codebook representations, (2) cross-modal translation from rolled to contactless modality guided by Sauvola-based local adaptive binarization as an identity anchor, and (3) physics-based multi-pose simulation through 3D finger model texture mapping and projection. The generated samples maintain strict identity consistency at the ridge topology level and spatial alignment with standard fingerprint coordinate space. Extensive experiments on the UWA and PolyU CL2CB databases demonstrate that fine-tuning fixed-length dense descriptors (FDD) with IMPOSE-synthesized data achieves state-of-the-art cross-modal matching, reducing EER to 8.74% on UWA and 2.26% on PolyU CL2CB. Synthetic data also yields consistent gains across mainstream representations including DeepPrint and AFRNet, and the hybrid strategy combining synthetic and real data achieves the best overall results. The code and generated samples are available at https://github.com/Yu-Yy/IMPOSE.
Earth Observation (EO)-based agricultural monitoring is shifting from pixel-level spectral analysis toward representation-driven modeling, yet systematic evaluation of learned representations remains limited. Geospatial foundation models (FMs) generate high-dimensional embeddings encoding complex spatio-temporal land-surface properties, but their utility and interpretability for agricultural applications remain insufficiently understood. This study presents a representation-agnostic framework evaluating a 64-dimensional AlphaEarth embedding space against Sentinel-2 reflectance, NDVI phenology, and harmonic features across geometric separability, temporal dynamics, spatial robustness, and cross-regional generalisation using field-scale data from the Conterminous United States (CONUS; 2017-2023) and Northern India (2021). Traditional features achieve strong linear separability (Fisher ratio), while embeddings provide superior distribution-aware separation - Bhattacharyya and Mahalanobis distances up to an order of magnitude higher for spectrally similar pairs (e.g. Corn/Soybeans: 3.9 vs. 0.10). Embeddings uniquely capture multi-year crop rotation dynamics, yielding a separability ratio of 1.784, versus a maximum of 1.003 for all engineered features. Under spatially explicit validation, embeddings exhibit lower residual spatial autocorrelation of errors (mean Moran's $I \approx 0.17$), reducing reliance on geographic proximity. However, harmonic features show stronger cross-continental transferability (US $\to$ India Macro F1: 0.493 vs. 0.326 for embeddings), with NDVI showing a similar advantage. The combined feature space yields balanced performance. These findings reveal a trade-off between representational richness and cross-region transferability, providing a framework for feature selection in large-scale crop classification.

Multi-graph matching is a fundamental problem in computer vision. Our work is motivated by a challenging application in bioimaging, where dozens or even hundreds of 3D microscopy images of worms must be brought into correspondence. Existing datasets do not cover this large-scale regime, and virtually all existing methods are inapplicable because they assume a complete or dense problem setting. To support further research, our first contribution is a new large-scale dataset based on problem instances from bioimaging. Our second contribution is a comprehensive analysis of the two main multi-graph matching paradigms: direct and permutation synchronization-based formulations. We argue, in part by proof, that practical large-scale methods must explicitly address problem sparsity and incompleteness. Since standard permutation synchronization approaches fail in this setting, we further introduce a sparse permutation synchronization paradigm. Our final contribution is GREEDA, a general method for sparse and incomplete problems that can be instantiated across cost orders and paradigms. While our paper focuses on objective functions up to quadratic order, GREEDA is inherently generalizable to arbitrary orders. On larger, sparse instances, GREEDA outperforms competing methods in both objective value and runtime. For example, for moderately sized problems based on 30 worm images GREEDA produces a high-quality solution within 2 minutes, whereas competitors require at least an hour and yield far worse results. On smaller dense problems, GREEDA remains on par with leading methods while being an order of magnitude faster.

Unlimited OCR ushers the era of long-horizon parsing, substantially mitigating the growth of working memory as document lengthens. However, as document length scales to hundreds of pages, the visual context grows substantially, sharply increasing the computational cost of each decoding step and limiting the scalability of ultra-long document parsing. Inspired by human book transcription via localized focus without re-scanning preceding pages, we introduce Unlimited OCR 2, a document parsing model that looks only at what it transcribes. Building on Unlimited OCR, we upgrade all the decoder attention modules to Sparse Reference Sliding Window Attention (SR-SWA), bounding active reference tokens to a fixed capacity and thus sustaining constant computational costs across arbitrarily long documents. By combining SR-SWA with Unlimited-Horizon Decoding Paradigm, Unlimited OCR 2 enables document parsing over virtually unlimited lengths without prohibitive memory overhead. At the hundred-page scale, Unlimited OCR 2 achieves 7.0$\times$ and 5.6$\times$ per-step speedups over Full Attention and R-SWA, respectively. Furthermore, it delivers state-of-the-art end-to-end performance on both MPDocBench and MarathonDocBench, our newly proposed benchmark targeting hundred-page document parsing. Ultimately, the capacity for uninterrupted, one-shot document parsing signifies a fundamental paradigm shift into the OCR 3.0 era.

Time-series anomaly detection (TSAD) requires identifying both immediate Point Anomalies and long-range Context Anomalies. However, existing foundation models face a fundamental trade-off: 1D temporal models provide fine-grained pointwise localization but lack a global contextual perspective, while 2D vision-based models capture global patterns but suffer from information bottlenecks due to a lack of temporal alignment and coarse-grained pointwise detection. To resolve this dilemma, we propose VETime, the first TSAD framework that unifies temporal and visual modalities through fine-grained visual-temporal alignment and dynamic fusion. VETime introduces a Reversible Image Conversion and a Patch-Level Temporal Alignment module to establish a shared visual-temporal timeline, preserving discriminative details while maintaining temporal sensitivity. Furthermore, we design an Anomaly Window Contrastive Learning mechanism and a Task-Adaptive Multi-Modal Fusion to adaptively integrate the complementary perceptual strengths of both modalities. Extensive experiments demonstrate that VETime significantly outperforms state-of-the-art models in zero-shot scenarios, achieving superior localization precision with lower computational overhead than current vision-based approaches. Cell viability assessment is a core requirement in cell culture systems, with critical applications in biopharmaceutical manufacturing and drug development. Conventionally, it is measured by adding membrane-impermeable dyes to a sample (a process called staining), which allows compromised cell membranes to be distinguished from intact ones. However, staining has several limitations: (a) chemical agents can perturb normal cellular processes of the cells being measured, (b) it is often ambiguous to assign viability to individual cells whose membrane integrity is only partially compromised, (c) photobleaching can undermine measurement accuracy over time when using fluorescent stains, and (d) staining cannot be performed in situ or in real time. Here, we show that (1) stained cells captured under brightfield imaging contain sufficient information to distinguish live and dead cells, and (2) cells captured under unstained brightfield imaging exhibit similar image features to their stained counterparts, enabling models trained on stained cells to generalize to unstained ones. We then report the development and validation of ViabiLens, an AI-assisted software tool for label-free cell viability analysis. ViabiLens combines a cell detection model for localizing individual cells with a convolutional neural network (CNN) classifier for live/dead prediction, paired with an interactive UMAP-based viewer for visualizing and exploring individual cells across the sample. Evaluated on Chinese Hamster Ovary (CHO) cells spanning a wide range of viability conditions, ViabiLens achieves a mean absolute error of 2.33\% on unstained samples against fluorescence-based reference measurements. The demo of ViabiLens software is available at https://amirrezavazifeh.github.io/ViabiLens-Project-Page/.
Guided depth super-resolution (GDSR) typically extracts RGB guidance features through convolutional hierarchies, inheriting their fine-to-coarse bias. Thus, low-level spatial cues surface in early layers, leaving the deeper layers to suppress those that do not correspond to true depth boundaries, which risks artifacts and blurred edges. The same fine-to-coarse bias persists in semantics-based methods that consume low-level tokens early and global tokens late. We present WAVE, which introduces a multi-level discrete wavelet transform (ML-DWT) as an explicit and interpretable feature-control mechanism, enabling a coarse-to-fine reconstruction by consuming sub-bands and semantic tokens in reverse of their generation order. WAVE further exploits these sub-bands to treat high- and low-frequency content separately, isolating the misleading RGB color and texture cues before any feature is learned so that their admission can be controlled explicitly, offering an intuitive alternative to the suppression learned implicitly by an opaque network. WAVE separates structure and detail reconstruction into dedicated modules that: i) model interactions within and across wavelet sub-bands, depth features, and semantic priors, ii) apply semantic gating to the high-frequency bands, and iii) fuse modalities through an invertible coupling mechanism that prevents collapse onto a single modality. Extensive experiments across multiple benchmarks demonstrate that WAVE matches or outperforms existing methods, with the largest gains at high upsampling factors, where low-resolution depth contains the least structure.

Zero-shot image restoration provides a flexible way to handle diverse degradations without task-specific training. However, existing methods typically rely on stacked layers or pre-trained features to enhance degradation expression, while overlooking physically consistent priors. The insufficient degradation prompts impose the heavy training burden and high sampling costs during zero-shot diffusion. Moreover, the fixed inference trajectory often collapses to suboptimal solutions under complex corruptions. We observe that heterogeneous degradations can be reparameterized into a minimal set of physically coherent parameters for compact representation. Based on this insight, we first propose a unified physical zero-shot image restoration (UP-ZeroIR) framework that explicitly models heterogeneous degradations into a homogeneous all-in-one distribution. The distribution can be optimized directly in the latent space, enabling principled solution exploration and effective prompt adaptation. Besides, we introduce a dynamic quality-refinement strategy that adaptively adjusts the diffusion trajectory for robust globally optimal convergence. Extensive experiments demonstrate that our method achieves state-of-the-art performance across both single and mixed degradations. Our code is available at https://github.com/yangjinglyy/UP-ZeroIR.

Post-training of large-scale Vision-Language Models (VLMs) reveals a pronounced generalization gap: models fine-tuned with Reinforcement Learning (RL) consistently achieve superior out-of-distribution (OOD) performance compared to those trained with Supervised Fine-Tuning (SFT). This paper posits a data-centric explanation for this phenomenon, contending that RL's generalization advantage arises from an implicit data filtering mechanism that inherently prioritizes medium-difficulty training samples. To test this hypothesis, we systematically evaluate the OOD generalization of SFT models across training datasets of varying difficulty levels. Our results confirm that data difficulty is a critical factor, revealing that training on hard samples significantly degrades OOD performance. Motivated by this finding, we introduce Difficulty-Curated SFT (DC-SFT), a straightforward method that explicitly filters the training set based on sample difficulty. Experiments show that DC-SFT not only substantially enhances OOD generalization over standard SFT, but also surpasses the performance of RL-based training, all while providing greater stability and computational efficiency. This work offers a data-centric account of the OOD generalization gap in VLMs and establishes a more efficient pathway to achieving robust generalization. Maritime multimodal vision faces significant challenges due to the complexity and variability of oceanic weather and environmental conditions. While modern vessels are commonly equipped with visible and infrared imaging systems, the complementary nature of these modalities fundamentally depends on accurate cross-modal registration. However, the absence of paired visible-infrared datasets that realistically capture diverse maritime scenarios has severely hindered progress in this field. To overcome this limitation, we present MMVIP, the first large-scale visible-infrared maritime vision dataset covering a wide spectrum of weather conditions and sea states. The dataset contains 128,100 images and 50 video sequences with precise spatial-temporal alignment. Comprehensive evaluations across image registration, fusion, maritime object detection, and cross-modal image translation tasks demonstrate the dataset's effectiveness and challenge. Furthermore, MMVIP establishes a new benchmark for advancing multimodal maritime perception. The dataset and corresponding benchmarks are publicly available at: https://github.com/yyppptjr/MMVIP.

Open-vocabulary 3D occupancy is vital for embodied agents, which need to understand complex indoor environments where semantic categories are abundant and evolve beyond fixed taxonomies. While recent work has explored open-vocabulary occupancy in outdoor driving scenarios, such methods transfer poorly indoors, where geometry is denser, layouts are more intricate, and semantics are far more fine-grained. To address these challenges, we adopt a geometry-only supervision paradigm that uses only binary occupancy labels (occupied vs. free). Our framework builds upon 3D Language-Embedded Gaussians, which serve as a unified intermediate representation coupling fine-grained 3D geometry with a language-aligned semantic embedding. On the geometry side, we find that existing Gaussian-to-Occupancy operators fail to converge under such weak supervision, and we introduce an opacity-aware, Poisson-based approach that stabilizes volumetric aggregation. On the semantic side, direct alignment between rendered features and open-vocabulary segmentation features suffers from feature mixing; we therefore propose a Progressive Temperature Decay schedule that gradually sharpens opacities during splatting, strengthening Gaussian-language alignment. On Occ-ScanNet, our framework achieves 59.50 IoU and 21.05 mIoU in the open-vocabulary setting, surpassing all existing occupancy methods in IoU and outperforming prior open-vocabulary approaches by a large margin in mIoU. Co-salient Object Detection (CoSOD) aims to segment salient objects that consistently appear across a group of related images. Despite the notable progress achieved by recent training-based approaches, they still remain constrained by the closed-set datasets and exhibit limited generalization. However, few studies explore the potential of Vision Foundation Models (VFMs) to address CoSOD, which demonstrate a strong generalized ability and robust saliency understanding. In this paper, we investigate and leverage VFMs for CoSOD, and further propose a novel training-free method, TF-SSD, through the synergy between SAM and DINO. Specifically, we first utilize SAM to generate comprehensive raw proposals, which serve as a candidate mask pool. Then, we introduce a quality mask generator to filter out redundant masks, thereby acquiring a refined mask set. Since this generator is built upon SAM, it inherently lacks semantic understanding of saliency. To this end, we adopt an intra-image saliency filter that employs DINO's attention maps to identify visually salient masks within individual images. Moreover, to extend saliency understanding across group images, we propose an inter-image prototype selector, which computes similarity scores among cross-image prototypes to select masks with the highest score. These selected masks serve as final predictions for CoSOD. Extensive experiments show that our TF-SSD outperforms existing methods (e.g., 13.7% gains over the recent training-free method). We present Proof-of-Perception (PoP), a tool-using framework that casts multimodal reasoning as an executable graph with explicit reliability guarantees. Each perception or logic node outputs a conformal set \Gamma^ (t) _\delta(x), yielding calibrated, stepwise uncertainty; a lightweight controller uses these certificates to allocate compute under a budget--expanding with extra tool calls only when needed and stopping early otherwise. This grounds answers in verifiable evidence, reduces error compounding and hallucinations, and enables principled accuracy-compute trade-offs. Across document, chart, and multi-image QA benchmarks, PoP improves performance and reliability over strong chain-of-thought, ReAct-style, and program-of-thought baselines while using computation more efficiently. Finetuning Large Vision-Language Models with reinforcement learning has emerged as a promising approach to enhance their capability in object-level grounding. However, existing methods, mainly based on GRPO, assign rewards at the response level. Such sparse reward leads to minimal learning signals when all candidate responses are failed in challenging scenarios. In this work, we propose a group-revision optimisation paradigm that enhances learning on hard cases. It begins with a sampled initial response and generates a set of revised candidates to explore improved grounding outcomes. Inspired by reward shaping, we introduce a consolidation process that quantifies each candidate's improvement over the initial attempt and converts it into informative shaping signals. These signals are used to both refine the reward and modulate the advantage, amplifying the influence of high-quality revisions. Our method achieves consistent gains across referring and reasoning segmentation, REC, and counting benchmarks compared with prior GRPO-based models. Accurate 3D scene understanding is essential for embodied intelligence, with occupancy prediction emerging as a key task for reasoning about both objects and free space. Existing approaches largely rely on depth priors (e.g., DepthAnything) but make only limited use of 3D cues, restricting performance and generalization. Recently, visual geometry models such as VGGT have shown strong capability in providing rich 3D priors, but similar to monocular depth foundation models, they still operate at the level of visible surfaces rather than volumetric interiors, motivating us to explore how to more effectively leverage these increasingly powerful geometry priors for 3D occupancy prediction. We present GPOcc, a framework that leverages generalizable visual geometry priors (GPs) for monocular occupancy prediction. Our method extends surface points inward along camera rays to generate volumetric samples, which are represented as Gaussian primitives for probabilistic occupancy inference. To handle streaming input, we further design a training-free incremental update strategy that fuses per-frame Gaussians into a unified global representation. Experiments on Occ-ScanNet and EmbodiedOcc-ScanNet demonstrate significant gains: GPOcc improves mIoU by +9.99 in the monocular setting and +11.79 in the streaming setting over prior state of the art. Under the same depth prior, it achieves +6.73 mIoU while running 2.65 times faster. These results highlight that GPOcc leverages geometry priors more effectively and efficiently. Code will be released at https://github.com/JuIvyy/GPOcc.
