LLM-guided Planar Loco-Manipulation for Quadruped Robots

Georges Jetti, Michael Khayyat, Jean-Pierre Sleiman, Stefano Arrigoni, Francesco Braghin

Robotic navigation typically assumes a collision-free route to the goal exists; in cluttered environments with movable obstacles, however, reaching the goal may require physical interaction. Classical solutions encode these behaviors through geometric rules and task-specific logic, while learning-based approaches often constrain the decision space to low-dimensional motion commands or predefined action sets. We instead consider a broader decision space, jointly selecting the skill, relevant object, and geometric target. Our language-conditioned task planner, fine-tuned with LoRA on synthetic data, maps natural-language tasks and a structured scene representation to variable-length sequences of parameterized actions, executed by low-level reinforcement-learning policies. The planner learns the geometric relations underlying interactive navigation and outperforms a classical planner and a prompted frontier model on interactive navigation tasks. Comparisons with models trained from scratch indicate that composition does not require pretraining when the representation is structured, whereas pretraining yields more reliable geometric targets. At the low level, we introduce an end-to-end whole-body planar pushing policy that achieves a 93.3% success rate in simulation, versus 83.5% for a hierarchical baseline, while reducing completion time by more than 60%. On hardware, the hierarchy yields the correct skill composition in 44/45 trials and end-to-end success in 34/45. Evaluating AlphaEarth Embeddings for Crop Classification: Separability, Temporal Dynamics, and Cross-Regional Transferability

Priyanka Goyal, Maitreyee Sar, Adway Mitra, Manjira Sinha

Earth Observation (EO)-based agricultural monitoring is shifting from pixel-level spectral analysis toward representation-driven modeling, yet systematic evaluation of learned representations remains limited. Geospatial foundation models (FMs) generate high-dimensional embeddings encoding complex spatio-temporal land-surface properties, but their utility and interpretability for agricultural applications remain insufficiently understood. This study presents a representation-agnostic framework evaluating a 64-dimensional AlphaEarth embedding space against Sentinel-2 reflectance, NDVI phenology, and harmonic features across geometric separability, temporal dynamics, spatial robustness, and cross-regional generalisation using field-scale data from the Conterminous United States (CONUS; 2017-2023) and Northern India (2021). Traditional features achieve strong linear separability (Fisher ratio), while embeddings provide superior distribution-aware separation - Bhattacharyya and Mahalanobis distances up to an order of magnitude higher for spectrally similar pairs (e.g. Corn/Soybeans: 3.9 vs. 0.10). Embeddings uniquely capture multi-year crop rotation dynamics, yielding a separability ratio of 1.784, versus a maximum of 1.003 for all engineered features. Under spatially explicit validation, embeddings exhibit lower residual spatial autocorrelation of errors (mean Moran's $I \approx 0.17$), reducing reliance on geographic proximity. However, harmonic features show stronger cross-continental transferability (US $\to$ India Macro F1: 0.493 vs. 0.326 for embeddings), with NDVI showing a similar advantage. The combined feature space yields balanced performance. These findings reveal a trade-off between representational richness and cross-region transferability, providing a framework for feature selection in large-scale crop classification.

JEV-as-a-Judge: Accept When Confident, Escalate When Unsure

Yubo Li, Yidi Miao, Ramayya Krishnan, Rema Padman

LLM-as-a-judge scales evaluation, but reasoning judges are slow and costly. We study JEV-as-a-Judge: evaluation with JEV, a decision-only judge that returns label probabilities instead of text, and whose confidence decides whether to accept its verdict or escalate to a reasoning judge. Against sixteen generative and reward-model judges, with blinded human adjudication, JEV comes within three points of GPT-6 wherever a verdict can be read off the text, at 0.36% of its fee and a 0.15-second median latency, and falls behind where the verdict must be derived, as in math, code, and logic. Its confidence marks this boundary. With a threshold frozen in advance, accepting confident verdicts and escalating the rest is 0.9 points more accurate than GPT-6 on 1,610 held-out pairs at 41% of its fee, and in a pre-specified live test on two new workloads the cascade matches GPT-6's accuracy exactly. Confidence routing weakens on style-adversarial pairs and reference-free prose; we close with a simple recipe for validating thresholds locally.

Optimizing Incomplete, Large-Scale and Sparse Multi-Graph Matching in Bioimaging

Max Kahl, Sebastian Stricker, Lisa Hutschenreiter, Florian Bernard, Carsten Rother, Bogdan Savchynskyy

Multi-graph matching is a fundamental problem in computer vision. Our work is motivated by a challenging application in bioimaging, where dozens or even hundreds of 3D microscopy images of worms must be brought into correspondence. Existing datasets do not cover this large-scale regime, and virtually all existing methods are inapplicable because they assume a complete or dense problem setting. To support further research, our first contribution is a new large-scale dataset based on problem instances from bioimaging. Our second contribution is a comprehensive analysis of the two main multi-graph matching paradigms: direct and permutation synchronization-based formulations. We argue, in part by proof, that practical large-scale methods must explicitly address problem sparsity and incompleteness. Since standard permutation synchronization approaches fail in this setting, we further introduce a sparse permutation synchronization paradigm. Our final contribution is GREEDA, a general method for sparse and incomplete problems that can be instantiated across cost orders and paradigms. While our paper focuses on objective functions up to quadratic order, GREEDA is inherently generalizable to arbitrary orders. On larger, sparse instances, GREEDA outperforms competing methods in both objective value and runtime. For example, for moderately sized problems based on 30 worm images GREEDA produces a high-quality solution within 2 minutes, whereas competitors require at least an hour and yield far worse results. On smaller dense problems, GREEDA remains on par with leading methods while being an order of magnitude faster.

STEPS: Semantic Contract-Guided Scheduling for LLM-Assisted Natural Language-Driven Edge AI Services

Houyi Qi, Minghui Liwang, Xianbin Wang, Xinlei Yi, Seyyedali Hosseinalipour

Edge user/service scheduling governs where and how AI services are executed under limited communication and computing resources. Existing edge scheduling frameworks typically assume numerically specified service requirements, such as latency bounds and energy budgets. However, users often express ambiguous and context-dependent expectations in natural language, creating a gap between user intent and scheduling decisions. We propose semantic contract-guided edge potential scheduling (STEPS), a natural language-driven framework that introduces semantic contracts as executable interfaces between user-side semantics and edge-side decisions. A large language model (LLM)-assisted semantic parser extracts service requirements and raw confidence scores from natural language requests. Confidence calibration and interpretable mapping rules convert these outputs into preference weights, fulfillment bounds, and semantic uncertainty. STEPS formulates intended per-slot edge scheduling as an exact potential game for execution-node selection, computing-resource provisioning, and bandwidth allocation, followed by capacity-feasible resource realization. Fulfillment-driven feedback signals enable adaptive scheduling under evolving service and network conditions. We establish the existence of pure-strategy Nash equilibrium, prove finite-step convergence of uncapped strict best-response dynamics, and characterize the boundedness of projected adaptive-control parameters. Experiments under synthetic and Melbourne-based hybrid settings demonstrate improved contract fulfillment and reduced service loss relative to several adapted benchmarks. Post-drift evaluations further show that feedback adaptation improves fulfillment and admission coverage under the tested conditions.

Unlimited OCR Works 2

Shu Wei, Jingjing Wu, Qunyi Xie, Lingshu Zhang, Xiangcheng Du, Yannian Fu, Mengjie Wang, Zuyi Wang 等 12 位作者

Unlimited OCR ushers the era of long-horizon parsing, substantially mitigating the growth of working memory as document lengthens. However, as document length scales to hundreds of pages, the visual context grows substantially, sharply increasing the computational cost of each decoding step and limiting the scalability of ultra-long document parsing. Inspired by human book transcription via localized focus without re-scanning preceding pages, we introduce Unlimited OCR 2, a document parsing model that looks only at what it transcribes. Building on Unlimited OCR, we upgrade all the decoder attention modules to Sparse Reference Sliding Window Attention (SR-SWA), bounding active reference tokens to a fixed capacity and thus sustaining constant computational costs across arbitrarily long documents. By combining SR-SWA with Unlimited-Horizon Decoding Paradigm, Unlimited OCR 2 enables document parsing over virtually unlimited lengths without prohibitive memory overhead. At the hundred-page scale, Unlimited OCR 2 achieves 7.0$\times$ and 5.6$\times$ per-step speedups over Full Attention and R-SWA, respectively. Furthermore, it delivers state-of-the-art end-to-end performance on both MPDocBench and MarathonDocBench, our newly proposed benchmark targeting hundred-page document parsing. Ultimately, the capacity for uninterrupted, one-shot document parsing signifies a fundamental paradigm shift into the OCR 3.0 era.

VETime: Vision Enhanced Zero-Shot Time Series Anomaly Detection

Yingyuan Yang, Tian Lan, Yifei Gao, Yimeng Lu, Xuming An, Wenjun He, Meng Wang, Chenghao Liu 等 9 位作者

Time-series anomaly detection (TSAD) requires identifying both immediate Point Anomalies and long-range Context Anomalies. However, existing foundation models face a fundamental trade-off: 1D temporal models provide fine-grained pointwise localization but lack a global contextual perspective, while 2D vision-based models capture global patterns but suffer from information bottlenecks due to a lack of temporal alignment and coarse-grained pointwise detection. To resolve this dilemma, we propose VETime, the first TSAD framework that unifies temporal and visual modalities through fine-grained visual-temporal alignment and dynamic fusion. VETime introduces a Reversible Image Conversion and a Patch-Level Temporal Alignment module to establish a shared visual-temporal timeline, preserving discriminative details while maintaining temporal sensitivity. Furthermore, we design an Anomaly Window Contrastive Learning mechanism and a Task-Adaptive Multi-Modal Fusion to adaptively integrate the complementary perceptual strengths of both modalities. Extensive experiments demonstrate that VETime significantly outperforms state-of-the-art models in zero-shot scenarios, achieving superior localization precision with lower computational overhead than current vision-based approaches. Tight Bounds for Randomized Generalized $k$-Server on Uniform Metrics

Junho Hwang

In the generalized $k$-server problem, each of $k$ servers moves in its own metric space, and a request $(r_1,\dots,r_k)$ is served once some server $i$ stands at the point $r_i$ of its space. We determine the randomized competitive ratio against an oblivious adversary when every space is a uniform metric. With unit distances the ratio is $Θ(k\log k)$: we give a $(k+1)\ln(2k)$-competitive algorithm and show that for large $k$ every algorithm has ratio at least $\frac{1}{20}k\ln k$, improving the bounds $O(k^2\log k)$ and $Ω(k)$ of Bienkowski, Jeż, and Schmidt. When server $i$ pays $w_i$ per move, the ratio is $\exp(Θ(k))$: we give a $20^k$-competitive algorithm, which also applies to weighted $k$-server on uniform metrics. This improves the $\exp(O(k^2))$ bound of Bijoy, Mondal, and Chiplunkar and matches the $Ω(2^k)$ lower bound of Ayyadevara and Chiplunkar up to the base of the exponent. Both algorithms follow normalized weights exactly, through couplings whose expected movement is controlled by the decrease of the logarithm of the total weight. The lower bound hides a random permutation among the solutions of random permutation constraints, which split into small, well-separated components, and then forbids one position to one server at a time.

Label-free cell counting and viability prediction with brightfield imaging and deep learning

Amir Reza Vazifeh, Christian Zeigler, Sornanathan Meyyappan, Richard Jeske, Jason W. Fleischer

Cell viability assessment is a core requirement in cell culture systems, with critical applications in biopharmaceutical manufacturing and drug development. Conventionally, it is measured by adding membrane-impermeable dyes to a sample (a process called staining), which allows compromised cell membranes to be distinguished from intact ones. However, staining has several limitations: (a) chemical agents can perturb normal cellular processes of the cells being measured, (b) it is often ambiguous to assign viability to individual cells whose membrane integrity is only partially compromised, (c) photobleaching can undermine measurement accuracy over time when using fluorescent stains, and (d) staining cannot be performed in situ or in real time. Here, we show that (1) stained cells captured under brightfield imaging contain sufficient information to distinguish live and dead cells, and (2) cells captured under unstained brightfield imaging exhibit similar image features to their stained counterparts, enabling models trained on stained cells to generalize to unstained ones. We then report the development and validation of ViabiLens, an AI-assisted software tool for label-free cell viability analysis. ViabiLens combines a cell detection model for localizing individual cells with a convolutional neural network (CNN) classifier for live/dead prediction, paired with an interactive UMAP-based viewer for visualizing and exploring individual cells across the sample. Evaluated on Chinese Hamster Ovary (CHO) cells spanning a wide range of viability conditions, ViabiLens achieves a mean absolute error of 2.33\% on unstained samples against fluorescence-based reference measurements. The demo of ViabiLens software is available at https://amirrezavazifeh.github.io/ViabiLens-Project-Page/.

Toward Circuit-Aware Mutation Testing for Quantum Programs: Exact Visibility and Execution Planning

Andriy Miranskyy, Jose Campos

Mutation testing assesses test suites by introducing program changes and checking whether tests detect them. In quantum programs, a surviving mutant may leave program behavior unchanged, produce a change hidden by the chosen input or measurement, or remain undetected because statistical evidence is insufficient. We develop a circuit-aware framework to distinguish these causes and guide execution planning and test changes. The framework covers ideal, noiseless programs and mutations that replace one gate or subcircuit. The method traces how a mutation can affect measured outputs and combines established mathematical checks with statistical estimates. For supported cases, we establish conditions under which a test cannot reveal a mutation and exact formulas for its effect when the required state information is available. Under stated assumptions, we bound the mutation score while retaining surviving and unresolved mutants, and identify a restricted circuit family whose mutation effects admit efficient classical classification. The deliverables include a decision procedure, mathematical guarantees, worked examples of test changes and their implementation requirements, and a small-circuit reference implementation for differential expectation tests. These results help testers decide what to execute, what to change, and what remains unknown. The evidence is limited to proofs and executable examples under the ideal model.

CulturalRiddles: A Multicultural Benchmark of Riddles

My Chiffon Nguyen, Tianyi Hu, Vinod Anbalagan, Henry Gagnier, Pouya Sadeghi, Farah Abdou, Tidor-Vlad Pricope, Diego MMS Oliveira 等 164 位作者

As LLMs expand their language coverage, evaluating how well they understand and represent diverse cultures becomes increasingly important. However, many benchmarks remain English-centric, with limited cultural coverage and a focus on factual knowledge over its application in real-world cultural contexts. We propose CulturalRiddles, a benchmark of original, culturally grounded riddles created entirely by humans through a participatory community effort, spanning 62 cultures (45 countries, 51 languages). These riddles are deeply rooted in their respective cultures and require abductive and compositional reasoning, alongside detailed factual and social knowledge, language skills, and an understanding of culturally specific associations. We benchmark 28 LLM configurations using both automatic and large-scale human evaluation. Even frontier models achieve at most 22% accuracy in some communities. We publicly release all artifacts alongside an open contribution process to expand the benchmark's linguistic and cultural coverage.

Two-colour crossing minimization in complete geometric graphs is NP-hard

Zhe Zhang

Given a fixed straight-line drawing of a complete graph, we seek a two-colouring of its edges that minimizes monochromatic crossing pairs. We prove that the threshold decision problem is NP-complete, even for points in general position with integer coordinates. Thus exact minimization is NP-hard, resolving the complexity question posed at the Crossing Number Workshop in 2019. We reduce from MaxCut on permutation graphs by representing source vertices with classes of geometric edges, whose crossings encode source adjacencies. The complete target also contains every other edge between its points, and their freely chosen colours can affect the encoded cost. To control these interactions, we construct a large comparison grid with two stable colour phases and use program points to turn this reference into colour preferences on other edges. The optimum differs from a computable baseline plus the amplified minimum number of uncut source edges by an error small enough to distinguish consecutive source values. The reduction is deterministic, with polynomially many points and polynomial coordinate bit length.

TransECG-SSL: Hybrid Self-Supervised Representation Learning for ECG Arrhythmia Classification

Ahtisham Ayyub, Fasih Haider, Muhammad Rehan Usman, Saturnino Luz, Christos Politis, Muhammad Arslan Usman

Cross-dataset generalisation remains a major challenge for automated electrocardiogram (ECG) arrhythmia classification because of differences in patient populations, acquisition protocols, annotation practices, and class distributions. Learning representations that remain informative across independent datasets could reduce reliance on dataset-specific labelled data. We propose TransECG-SSL, a self-supervised framework for transferable heartbeat representation learning from unlabelled ECG data. A Transformer encoder is pretrained using a hybrid objective combining masked signal reconstruction and contrastive learning, then frozen and evaluated by linear probing under patient-disjoint evaluation. Experiments across three public ECG databases and seven source--target settings show that Hybrid SSL consistently outperforms randomly initialised Transformers and achieves higher balanced accuracy than architecture-matched source-supervised pretraining. Reconstruction-only SSL remains competitive with Hybrid SSL, whereas contrastive-only pretraining performs substantially worse, highlighting the importance of masked reconstruction for transferability. Cross-dataset transfer nevertheless reduces balanced accuracy relative to target-specific self-supervised pretraining, while minority arrhythmia classes remain challenging under severe class imbalance. These findings demonstrate the potential of label-efficient self-supervised learning for cross-dataset ECG representation transfer while highlighting persistent limitations from domain shift and class imbalance.

WAVE: Wavelet-Controlled Coarse-to-Fine Guidance for Depth Super-Resolution

Tayyab Nasir, Daochang Liu, Ajmal Mian

Guided depth super-resolution (GDSR) typically extracts RGB guidance features through convolutional hierarchies, inheriting their fine-to-coarse bias. Thus, low-level spatial cues surface in early layers, leaving the deeper layers to suppress those that do not correspond to true depth boundaries, which risks artifacts and blurred edges. The same fine-to-coarse bias persists in semantics-based methods that consume low-level tokens early and global tokens late. We present WAVE, which introduces a multi-level discrete wavelet transform (ML-DWT) as an explicit and interpretable feature-control mechanism, enabling a coarse-to-fine reconstruction by consuming sub-bands and semantic tokens in reverse of their generation order. WAVE further exploits these sub-bands to treat high- and low-frequency content separately, isolating the misleading RGB color and texture cues before any feature is learned so that their admission can be controlled explicitly, offering an intuitive alternative to the suppression learned implicitly by an opaque network. WAVE separates structure and detail reconstruction into dedicated modules that: i) model interactions within and across wavelet sub-bands, depth features, and semantic priors, ii) apply semantic gating to the high-frequency bands, and iii) fuse modalities through an invertible coupling mechanism that prevents collapse onto a single modality. Extensive experiments across multiple benchmarks demonstrate that WAVE matches or outperforms existing methods, with the largest gains at high upsampling factors, where low-resolution depth contains the least structure.

Fidelity-Guaranteed Entanglement Routing with Distributed Purification Planning

Anthony Gatti, Anoosha Fayyaz, Prashant Krishnamurthy, Kaushik P. Seshadreesan, Amy Babay

Many quantum-network applications require end-to-end Bell pairs whose fidelity exceeds a request-specific threshold, but existing entanglement routing algorithms either optimize only throughput without regard for fidelity or enforce fidelity guarantees using centralized controllers with global link-state knowledge. We present Q-GUARD, an online entanglement routing algorithm that enforces per-request fidelity thresholds within a distributed protocol model in which nodes exchange link-state information only with their $k$-hop neighbors. After link outcomes are realized in each slot, Q-GUARD builds per-link purification cost tables from realized Bell pairs, allocates per-hop fidelity targets using a Werner-state equal-split rule, and selects between candidate path segments using a segment-local expected-goodput (EXG) metric that jointly accounts for swap success, purification overhead, and resource availability. We also introduce Q-GUARD-WS, an extension that exploits per-link hardware quality estimates to allocate purification effort non-uniformly across hops. On synthetic 100-node topologies with heterogeneous link fidelity and stochastic BBPSSW purification, Q-GUARD raises the qualified success rate from under 20\% to over 85\% on 4-hop paths and nearly doubles the qualified service radius in Euclidean distance relative to throughput-only and naive-purification baselines, while Q-GUARD-WS provides additional throughput gains under high hardware heterogeneity.

Qayyem: A Real-time Platform for Scoring Proficiency of Arabic Essays

Hoor Tamer Elbahnasawi University of Qatar, Marwan Sayed, Sohaila Eltanbouly University of Qatar, Fatima Zahra Brahamia, Tamer Elsayed Qatar University

Over the past years, Automated Essay Scoring (AES) systems have gained increasing attention as scalable and consistent solutions for assessing proficiency of student writing. Despite recent progress, support for Arabic AES remains limited due to linguistic complexity and scarcity of large publicly-available annotated datasets. In this work, we present Qayyem, a Web-based platform designed to support Arabic AES by providing an integrated workflow for assignment creation, batch essay upload, scoring configuration, and per-trait essay evaluation. Qayyem abstracts the technical complexity of interacting with scoring server APIs, allowing instructors to access advanced scoring services through a user-friendly interface. The platform deploys a number of state-of-the-art Arabic essay scoring models with different effectiveness and efficiency figures.

Frankentext: Stitching random text fragments into long-form narratives

Chau Minh Pham, Jenna Russell University of Maryland, College Park, Dzung Pham Department of Computer Science, University of Massachusetts at Amherst, Mohit Iyyer University of Maryland, College Park

As AI text detectors are increasingly used to flag LLM-generated writing, a natural question arises: are there forms of high-quality generated narrative that can evade such detection? We introduce Frankentexts, a long-form narrative generation paradigm that treats an LLM as a composer of existing texts rather than as an author. Given a writing prompt and thousands of randomly sampled human-written snippets, the model assembles a coherent narrative where most tokens (e.g., 90%) are copied verbatim from the source passages. Despite the extreme challenge of the task, we observe through extensive automatic and human evaluation that Frankentexts improve over vanilla LLM generations in key writing quality metrics such as diversity and novelty while remaining mostly coherent and relevant to the prompt. Furthermore, Frankentexts pose a fundamental challenge to current AI text detectors: 72% of Frankentexts produced by our best configuration (Gemini-2.5-Pro with 5K input snippets) are misclassified as human-written by Pangram, a state-of-the-art detector. Human annotators praise Frankentexts for their inventive premises, vivid descriptions, and dry humor; however, they still identify issues with abrupt tonal shifts and uneven grammar across segments. Overall, the emergence of high-quality yet low-detectability Frankentexts challenges established authorship norms while raising concerns about the publishing economy.

Looking at Radiology Report Generation through a Causal Lens: A Survey

Satyam Kumar Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay, Kaustubh Shivshankar Shejole, Pushpak Bhattacharyya Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay, Dhirubhai Ambani Institute Of Information and Communication Technology

Automatic radiology report generation (RRG) has emerged as a promising approach to reduce clinicians’ workload, yet existing systems are vulnerable to biases induced by spurious correlations across data, models, and evaluation pipelines. Such biases raise serious fairness concerns and may adversely affect patient care, making their mitigation critical in clinical settings. Leveraging causal inference to identify true cause-effect relationships can mitigate many biases and yield fair, reliable systems with clinically meaningful outputs. Existing surveys on RRG primarily emphasize deep learning approaches while overlooking the critical role of causality. This survey addresses this gap by analyzing bias across the RRG pipeline, formalizing RRG as a causal modeling problem, and reviewing representative causal techniques from the literature. Based on the level of intervention, we organize existing mitigation strategies into a three-tier taxonomy. We further examine commonly used public medical imaging datasets and evaluation metrics through a causal lens, revealing their biases and limitations in capturing causal alignment and clinical fidelity. To address these limitations, we advocate broader demographic coverage and causal-aware evaluation metrics to improve fairness and reliability, and identify important directions for future work.

Self-Guided Alignment: Adaptive Preference Sensing for Multi-Objective Generation

Ning Wang Jiangnan University, Zhanyang Liu, Taotao Zhou, Xinrui Zhang, Zongru Shao Silicon Austria Labs, Haojie Zhou Jiangnan University

Aligning Large Language Models (LLMs) with diverse and potentially conflicting human values necessitates navigating complex multi-objective landscapes. However, existing prompt-conditioned approaches face a critical training-inference discrepancy: they rely on ground-truth scores during training while requiring manual user-specification at inference. We introduce prediction of implicit preferences to bridge this gap while reducing user burden. To this end, we propose Self-Guided Alignment (SGA), a framework that transforms passive reward dependency into an intrinsic adaptive sensing capability. It employs a dual-head architecture to unify preference internalization with conditional generation, enabling the model to learn a latent mapping between raw prompts and preference profiles. Through adaptive preference sensing, the model autonomously predicts the latent preference score to self-guide the generation, thereby eliminating the need for manual specification at inference. Extensive experiments across diverse model scales demonstrate that SGA often outperforms state-of-the-art baselines, achieving superior multi-objective trade-offs and improved preference alignment. Code is available at https://github.com/python-yyds/SGA.

Everyone is unique: Towards Behaviorally Heterogeneous Negotiation Dialogue Systems for Debt Collection

Yuhang Yang, Kai Tang Zhejiang University, Chao Ye, Haobo Wang Zhejiang University, Qiqi Luo Alibaba Group, Jin Guang Zheng Alibaba Group, Zhixin Zhang

Debt collection is a critical negotiation task in the financial industry, with strong practical relevance and exceptional academic value as a behaviorally rich, high-stakes testbed for human-centered dialogue systems. While large language models (LLMs) have shown promise in dialogue and negotiation, effectively evaluating their performance in this complex scenarios remains a major challenge: existing benchmarks uniformly assume users to be static, rational agents with fixed preferences, failing to capture the rich behavioral heterogeneity inherent in real-world debt collection. To bridge this gap, we propose DebtBench, the first public persona-enriched debt collection benchmark, that highlights behavioral heterogeneity in negotiation. Moreover, we develop DebtGPT, a debt collection agent trained to jointly optimize financial recovery and interaction experience. Our experimental results, using 16 state-of-the-art LLMs, find that most existing models struggle in this complex but realistic scenarios, whereas DebtGPT outperforms all open-source baselines and achieves performance on par with GPT-4o. The code and data are available at https://github.com/yyuhhhh13/DebtNegotiation.

AI use in American newspapers is widespread, uneven, and rarely disclosed

Jenna Russell University of Maryland, College Park, Marzena Karpinska Simon Fraser University, Destiny Akinode Pangram Labs, James Zhou, Katherine Thai Pangram, Bradley Emi Pangram Labs, Max Spero Pangram Labs, Mohit Iyyer University of Maryland, College Park

AI is rapidly transforming journalism, but the extent of its use in published newspaper articles remains unclear. We address this gap by auditing a large-scale dataset of 186K articles from online editions of 1.5K American newspapers published in the summer of 2025. Using Pangram, a state-of-the-art AI detector, we discover that approximately 9% of newly-published articles are either partially or fully AI-generated. This AI use is unevenly distributed, appearing more frequently in smaller, local outlets, in specific topics such as weather and technology, and within certain ownership groups. We also analyze 45K opinion pieces from Washington Post, New York Times, and Wall Street Journal, finding that they are 6.4 times more likely to contain AI-generated content than news articles from the same publications, with many AI-flagged op-eds authored by prominent public figures. Despite this prevalence, we find that AI use is rarely disclosed: a manual audit of 100 AI-flagged articles found only five disclosures of AI use. A factuality analysis shows AI-generated articles are 8.2 times more likely to contain hallucinated claims than human-written news. Overall, our audit highlights the immediate need for greater transparency and updated editorial standards regarding the use of AI in journalism to maintain public trust.

Quantifying Metric and Model Agreement in Bias Evaluation of Large Language Models

Arash Asgari York University, Huan Wu York University, Amirreza Naziri, Mojtaba Kolahdouzi, Laleh Seyyed-Kalantari York University

Bias evaluation in large language models (LLMs) uses many metrics and benchmarks, but lacks a systematic way to measure agreement across bias metrics and models. As a result, improvements observed under one metric may contradict another, and model rankings may reflect benchmark-specific artifacts rather than stable bias profiles. In this work, we introduce Metric Agreement Score (MeAS) and Model Agreement Score (MoAS), which quantify cross-metric and cross-model agreement in bias rankings, respectively. We apply these measures to eight LLMs, seven bias metrics, and nine corpora. Our results reveal disagreement among both metrics and models: Contrary to expectations, we find that metrics within the same category (generation-based and probabilistic) often behave independently of each other. For instance, HONEST shows independence with toxicity metrics, and the Context Association Test shows no correlation with Language Modeling Bias metric. At the model level, DeepSeek-family models invert bias rankings relative to most others, indicating that the model family strongly shapes specific bias profiles. These findings challenge the assumption that bias mitigation is universally transferable and highlight the need for agreement-aware evaluation.

NOSE: Neural Olfactory-Semantic Embedding with Tri-Modal Orthogonal Contrastive Learning

Yanyi Su, Hongshuai Wang DP technology, Zhifeng Gao DP Technology, Jun Cheng Xiamen University

Olfaction lies at the intersection of chemical structure, neural encoding, and linguistic perception, yet existing representation methods fail to fully capture this pathway. Current approaches typically model only isolated segments of the olfactory pathway, overlooking the complete chain from molecule to receptors to linguistic descriptions. Such fragmentation yields learned embeddings that lack both biological grounding and semantic interpretability. We propose NOSE (Neural Olfactory-Semantic Embedding), a representation learning framework that aligns three modalities along the olfactory pathway: molecular structure, receptor sequence, and natural language description. Rather than simply fusing these signals, we decouple their contributions via orthogonal constraints, preserving the unique encoded information of each modality. To address the sparsity of olfactory language, we introduce a weak positive sample strategy to calibrate semantic similarity, preventing erroneous repulsion of similar odors in the feature space. Extensive experiments demonstrate that NOSE achieves state-of-the-art (SOTA) performance and excellent zero-shot generalization, confirming the strong alignment between its representation space and human olfactory intuition. Code and data are available at https://github.com/Xianyusyy/NOSE

Monocular Open Vocabulary Occupancy Prediction for Indoor Scenes

Zhou, Changqing, Luo, Yueru, Zhang, Han, Jiang, Zeyu, Chen, Changhao

Open-vocabulary 3D occupancy is vital for embodied agents, which need to understand complex indoor environments where semantic categories are abundant and evolve beyond fixed taxonomies. While recent work has explored open-vocabulary occupancy in outdoor driving scenarios, such methods transfer poorly indoors, where geometry is denser, layouts are more intricate, and semantics are far more fine-grained. To address these challenges, we adopt a geometry-only supervision paradigm that uses only binary occupancy labels (occupied vs. free). Our framework builds upon 3D Language-Embedded Gaussians, which serve as a unified intermediate representation coupling fine-grained 3D geometry with a language-aligned semantic embedding. On the geometry side, we find that existing Gaussian-to-Occupancy operators fail to converge under such weak supervision, and we introduce an opacity-aware, Poisson-based approach that stabilizes volumetric aggregation. On the semantic side, direct alignment between rendered features and open-vocabulary segmentation features suffers from feature mixing; we therefore propose a Progressive Temperature Decay schedule that gradually sharpens opacities during splatting, strengthening Gaussian-language alignment. On Occ-ScanNet, our framework achieves 59.50 IoU and 21.05 mIoU in the open-vocabulary setting, surpassing all existing occupancy methods in IoU and outperforming prior open-vocabulary approaches by a large margin in mIoU. Code will be released at https://github.com/JuIvyy/LegoOcc.

TF-SSD: A Strong Pipeline via Synergic Mask Filter for Training-free Co-salient Object Detection

He, Zhijin, Jin, Shuo, Yu, Siyue, Wu, Shuwei, Zhang, Bingfeng, Yu, Li, Xiao, Jimin

Co-salient Object Detection (CoSOD) aims to segment salient objects that consistently appear across a group of related images. Despite the notable progress achieved by recent training-based approaches, they still remain constrained by the closed-set datasets and exhibit limited generalization. However, few studies explore the potential of Vision Foundation Models (VFMs) to address CoSOD, which demonstrate a strong generalized ability and robust saliency understanding. In this paper, we investigate and leverage VFMs for CoSOD, and further propose a novel training-free method, TF-SSD, through the synergy between SAM and DINO. Specifically, we first utilize SAM to generate comprehensive raw proposals, which serve as a candidate mask pool. Then, we introduce a quality mask generator to filter out redundant masks, thereby acquiring a refined mask set. Since this generator is built upon SAM, it inherently lacks semantic understanding of saliency. To this end, we adopt an intra-image saliency filter that employs DINO's attention maps to identify visually salient masks within individual images. Moreover, to extend saliency understanding across group images, we propose an inter-image prototype selector, which computes similarity scores among cross-image prototypes to select masks with the highest score. These selected masks serve as final predictions for CoSOD. Extensive experiments show that our TF-SSD outperforms existing methods (e.g., 13.7% gains over the recent training-free method). Codes are available at https://github.com/hzz-yy/TF-SSD.

From Failure to Feedback: Group Revision Unlocks Hard Cases in Object-Level Grounding

Liu, Yuyuan, Ji, Yiping, Le, Anjie, Zhu, Jiayuan, Pan, Jiazhen, Peng, Can, Deng, Jiajun, Liu, Fengbei 等 9 位作者

Finetuning Large Vision-Language Models with reinforcement learning has emerged as a promising approach to enhance their capability in object-level grounding. However, existing methods, mainly based on GRPO, assign rewards at the response level. Such sparse reward leads to minimal learning signals when all candidate responses are failed in challenging scenarios. In this work, we propose a group-revision optimisation paradigm that enhances learning on hard cases. It begins with a sampled initial response and generates a set of revised candidates to explore improved grounding outcomes. Inspired by reward shaping, we introduce a consolidation process that quantifies each candidate's improvement over the initial attempt and converts it into informative shaping signals. These signals are used to both refine the reward and modulate the advantage, amplifying the influence of high-quality revisions. Our method achieves consistent gains across referring and reasoning segmentation, REC, and counting benchmarks compared with prior GRPO-based models. Code is available at https://github.com/yyliu01/GroupRevision.

Gemini 1.5: Unlocking multimodal understanding across millions of tokens of context

In this report, we introduce the Gemini 1.5 family of models, representing the next generation of highly compute-efficient multimodal models capable of recalling and reasoning over fine-grained information from millions of tokens of context, including multiple long documents and hours of video and audio. The family includes two new models: (1) an updated Gemini 1.5 Pro, which exceeds the February version on the great majority of capabilities and benchmarks; (2) Gemini 1.5 Flash, a more lightweight variant designed for efficiency with minimal regression in quality. Gemini 1.5 models achieve near-perfect recall on long-context retrieval tasks across modalities, improve the state-of-the-art in long-document QA, long-video QA and long-context ASR, and match or surpass Gemini 1.0 Ultra's state-of-the-art performance across a broad set of benchmarks. Studying the limits of Gemini 1.5's long-context ability, we find continued improvement in next-token prediction and near-perfect retrieval (>99%) up to at least 10M tokens, a generational leap over existing models such as Claude 3.0 (200k) and GPT-4 Turbo (128k). Finally, we highlight real-world use cases, such as Gemini 1.5 collaborating with professionals on completing their tasks achieving 26 to 75% time savings across 10 different job categories, as well as surprising new capabilities of large language models at the frontier; when given a grammar manual for Kalamang, a language with fewer than 200 speakers worldwide, the model learns to translate English to Kalamang at a similar level to a person who learned from the same content.
