Querying Counterfactuals on Tissue Graphs with Supervised Disentanglement

Abdul Moeed, Stefan Schrod, Martin Rohbeck, Marc Jan Bonder, Pavlo Lutsik, Oliver Stegle, Daniel Dimitrov

原文摘要

Tissue graph counterfactuals ask what a cell would express if its spatial neighborhood were altered, a question central to predicting cell behavior in tissues. Existing methods, however, present only specific instances of such queries. In this work, we first formalize tissue graph counterfactuals as a class of spatial interventions that either rewire connections between cells (edge perturbation) or modify the expression of their neighbors (node perturbation). We then introduce Cellina, a framework that uses supervised disentanglement to decompose a cell's intrinsic state from its spatial context, using the latter as a conditioning input for in-silico perturbation predictions. Across benchmarks spanning over 2.5 million spatially-resolved cells in observational and interventional screens, Cellina outperforms both spatially-informed and non-spatial competitors in in-silico perturbations, while training as fast as non-spatial methods. Moreover, we show that Cellina reveals cancer subdomains with distinct signaling programs in an unsupervised manner and enables targeted neighbor perturbation simulations.

Post-Training Large Language Models via Reinforcement Learning from Self-Feedback

Carel van Niekerk, Renato Vukovic, Benjamin Ruppik, Hsien-chin Lin, Shutong Feng, Milica Gašić

原文摘要

Large Language Models (LLMs) often produce plausible but poorly-calibrated answers, limiting their reliability on reasoning-intensive tasks. Recent research suggests that Chain-of-Thought (CoT) reasoning paths are inherent in pre-trained LLMs and can be elicited by simply altering the decoding process, where the presence of a CoT path correlates with higher answer confidence. Building on these insights, we present Reinforcement Learning from Self-Feedback (RLSF), a post-training stage that utilises the model's intrinsic confidence as a self-generated reward. By generating multiple CoT decoding beams from a frozen LLM, we compute the confidence of each final answer span and rank the resulting traces accordingly to create synthetic preferences. These preferences are subsequently utilised to fine-tune the policy through standard preference optimisation, requiring no human labels, gold answers, or externally curated rewards. RLSF simultaneously (i) refines the model's probability estimates--restoring well-behaved calibration--and (ii) strengthens step-by-step reasoning, yielding improved performance on arithmetic reasoning and multiple-choice question answering. By converting a model's own uncertainty into structured self-feedback, RLSF affirms reinforcement learning on intrinsic model behaviour as a principled and data-efficient component of the LLM post-training pipeline. Our results demonstrate that leveraging these inherent reasoning capabilities provides a robust path for enhancing model reliability without manual prompt engineering or external supervision.

RoboCurate: Harnessing Diversity with Action-Verified Synthetic Data for Robot Learning

Seungku Kim, Suhyeok Jang, Byungjun Yoon, Dongyoung Kim, John Won, Jinwoo Shin

原文摘要

Synthetic data generated by video generative models has shown promise for robot learning as a scalable pipeline, but it often suffers from noisy action labels due to imperfect video generation or inaccurate action prediction. Recently, vision-language models (VLMs) have been leveraged to validate video quality, but they cannot directly evaluate the generated actions themselves. To tackle this issue, we introduce RoboCurate, a novel framework for action-verified synthetic robot data that addresses inconsistencies between generated videos and annotated actions. Specifically, RoboCurate executes the actions predicted by an inverse dynamics model (IDM) in a simulator and verifies action consistency by measuring the motion agreement between the simulator rollout and the generated video. To better leverage such a framework, we further expand the scene diversity of synthetic data beyond the available dataset through off-the-shelf generative models with structured editing axes. We then use a VLM to pre-filter physically implausible generated videos before verifying their action labels. Across diverse manipulation scenarios, RoboCurate yields substantial relative improvements in success rates compared to using only real data, achieving +90.3% on GR-1 Tabletop (300 demos), +29.1% on DexMimicGen in the pre-training setup on simulation benchmarks, and +179.9% and +42.9% in the co-finetuning setup on challenging real-world ALLEX and OpenArm humanoid benchmarks, respectively.

Selective Event Evidence and Persistent Temporal Priors for Event-Based Point Tracking

Xiaokai Song, Zhang Li, Leqi Liu, Yibin Ye, Kun Wang, Xichao Teng

原文摘要

Event cameras enable tracking under fast motion and challenging illumination. However, stable long-term point tracking remains challenging: event activity is sparse and varies with scene content and motion, complicating correspondence, while trajectory estimates can drift over long sequences. Together, these challenges motivate a tracker that selectively uses informative event evidence and retains trajectory constraints across temporal windows. We propose Selective Event Evidence and Persistent Temporal Priors (SEPT), an event-only framework for tracking any point (TAP) over long sequences. SEPT introduces two complementary modules: Task-Adaptive Event Evidence Modulation (TEEM) and Persistent Trajectory Prior (PTP). Using only tracking supervision, TEEM learns a bounded reliability field that weights the event tensor across space, time, and channels before feature extraction. PTP carries geometric information across overlapping windows by marginalizing a fixed local quadratic trajectory model with a Schur complement. Its visibility-aware correction refines overlap coordinates, while a clipped terminal velocity initializes coordinates at newly exposed timestamps. SEPT builds on the ETAP architecture. SEPT is trained exclusively on synthetic EventKubric data and evaluated on five datasets across TAP and feature tracking. Results show that SEPT outperforms the retrained ETAP baseline in average Jaccard for TAP and in feature age and expected feature age for feature tracking; it also surpasses several methods combining event and frame inputs on EC and EDS. The source code is publicly available at https://github.com/sssxxxkkkk/SEPT.

原文摘要

Social touch interactions, such as handshakes, fist bumps, and hugs, require humanoid robots to infer human intent, generate contact-rich motions, and maintain safe physical contact. We present AffectiveVLA, an intent-gated Vision-Language-Action (VLA) pipeline deployed on a Unitree G1 humanoid with dexterous hands. A lightweight RGB-based model recognizes interaction intent from two onboard cameras and converts it into a language prompt for the VLA policy. Low-confidence predictions suppress motion execution, reducing unintended activations. During physical contact, interaction-specific compliance profiles adjust arm impedance, while an independent voice-triggered mechanism initiates a latched safe-stop procedure. Using VR teleoperation, we collected approximately 1,300 multimodal interaction episodes and fine-tuned four VLA models: GR00T, RLDX-1, Being-H0.5, and UnifoLM-VLA-0. On-robot evaluation identifies GR00T as the best-performing standalone model. Integrating intent recognition increases its macro-F1 score from 0.75 to 0.90, while the intent model achieves a p95 inference latency of 6.27 ms. These results demonstrate that explicit intent gating improves the reliability of VLA-based social interaction without compromising real-time operation.

Fast and Accurate Hand Estimation in Pixels, Interaction and World Space

Jinkun Cao

原文摘要

Monocular hand mesh estimators commonly predict rig parameters and project the mesh to obtain 2D keypoints. We find that directly predicted 3D joints agree better with 2D predictions, and fitting a mesh to predicted points reduces mesh error. We present FAH (Fast and Accurate Hand Estimation), a family of models built on SAM 3D Body's hand branch through fine-tuning and feature distillation. The models predict corresponding 2D and 3D joints and surface points, fit MANO or MHR-Hand, and optionally estimate anatomical parts and contact without object geometry at inference. Causal refinement reduces acceleration error, and camera estimation places the hands in world space. Experiments show improvements in image-space alignment, hand geometry, contact estimation and world-space tracking over the evaluated baselines. The default ViT-L model runs at 65 fps with mesh fitting on an RTX 4070 Ti SUPER, or 49 fps with parts and contact enabled. The smallest ViT-S model reaches 125 fps without mesh fitting, parts or contact. Code: https://github.com/noahcao/FAH.

AffineGS: Unlocking Accurate Geometry in 3DGS via Spatially Varying Affine Rectification

Tze Ho Elden Tse, Jizong Peng, Richard Chen, Angela Yao

原文摘要

3D Gaussian Splatting (3DGS) has become the leading approach for photorealistic novel view synthesis, yet its geometric accuracy lags behind its visual quality. Existing depth-guided methods attempt to resolve this by regularizing the optimization with monocular depth priors, typically using a single global scale-and-shift alignment. Crucially, we discover a fundamental flaw in this assumption: modern monocular depth networks systematically exhibit region-dependent, piecewise-linear distortions. This discovery invalidates standard global alignment strategies, which warp scene geometry by enforcing a single transform. To address this, we introduce a spatially varying affine rectification model that corrects monocular disparity into consistent metric depth using regionally smooth, edge-aware fields. We further derive a normal-aware regularizer that uses spatial gradients to couple the rectified disparity with 3DGS depth and normals. Across diverse experimental settings, our sensor-free method shows strong photometric quality of Gaussian Splatting while substantially improving geometric accuracy and outperforming state-of-the art geometry-focused methods.

OmniOPSD: Rationale-Privileged On-Policy Self-Distillation for Affective Computing

原文摘要

Multimodal large language models (MLLMs) have advanced affective computing by enabling nuanced reasoning over visual, acoustic, and linguistic evidence. A key approach to improving their generalization is outcome-based reinforcement learning, which converts existing label-level annotations into rewards for final-answer correctness. However, its sparse sequence-level supervision provides limited fine-grained guidance for interpreting multimodal affective cues and may reward correct labels even when those cues are misinterpreted. To address this challenge, we introduce OmniOPSD, the first on-policy self-distillation framework for omni-modal affective reasoning. At its core, OmniOPSD transforms label-level supervision into evidence-rich, teacher-only rationales by leveraging reference affective judgments as semantic priors for offline multimodal evidence elicitation from frontier MLLMs. Through rationale-privileged self-distillation, it couples on-policy student rollouts with dense, evidence-informed token-level supervision from a local self-teacher, allowing the student to learn along its own trajectories rather than imitate fixed reasoning traces. This decoupling of offline evidence acquisition from local policy learning enables training without additional human annotation, frontier-model logits, or online frontier-model calls, while preserving student-only inference from the original task input. At both 3B and 7B scales, OmniOPSD outperforms supervised fine-tuning (SFT) and group relative policy optimization (GRPO) in mean macro-F1 on both in-domain and out-of-domain evaluations. Among the compared models, it ranks first by MER-UniBench mean across all three input-modality settings, reaching 84.13 with audio--video--text input, and achieves the highest MME-Emotion recognition score (Rec-S) of 42.4.

原文摘要

Large Language Models (LLMs) incur severe memory-access overheads due to the cost of loading large weight matrices and key-value (KV) caches. Analog In-Memory Computing (AIMC) is an emerging solution that enables computation directly on static weights stored in memory, substantially reducing energy and latency. 3D-IMC further stacks memory arrays into vertical tiers, increasing capacity but revealing a new challenge: how weights are placed in memory determines which matrix-vector multiplications (MVMs) can execute concurrently, affecting latency and throughput. The concurrency aspect of 3D-IMC weight-mapping remains underexplored in the literature, leading to sub-optimal utilization of compute resources on 3D-IMC chips. In this context we propose CAMP (Context-Aware Mapping and Placement), an inference-context-aware weight mapping algorithm for 3D-IMC-based LLM accelerators. CAMP captures the potential resource contention resulting from the architecture, targeted network, and runtime context in a conflict matrix, enabling throughput-optimized weight mapping. This mapping is refined through a profiling-driven feedback loop that efficiently prunes the search space and returns optimized mappings within practical runtimes. CAMP is an offline, software-based solution requiring no hardware changes and improving 3D-IMC compute utilization from 42.4% to 60.3%, delivering up to 2.0x higher 3D-IMC throughput and 1.74x higher end-to-end throughput over state-of-the-art mapping algorithms.

Reconsidering Positional Supervision in Masked Diffusion Language Model Training

Mengyu Ye, Keito Kudo, Ryosuke Takahashi, Jun Suzuki

原文摘要

Masked diffusion language models (MDLMs) generate text by unmasking tokens in parallel and have recently emerged as alternatives to autoregressive language models. They can be viewed as parallel decoders trained with a position-wise cross-entropy (CE) loss, the same setup as non-autoregressive translation (NAT). In NAT, CE-trained parallel decoders have been argued to be sensitive to small positional shifts, since CE penalizes them harshly. We ask whether CE-trained MDLMs are similarly sensitive to such shifts under iterative decoding. To probe this, we apply a controlled intervention that introduces them during decoding. On LLaDA-8B-Instruct with Arena-Hard, displacing as little as 1% of generated tokens by one position substantially reduces win rates against the unintervened model, showing that MDLMs are sensitive to such small shifts under iterative parallel decoding. Motivated by this, we adapt connectionist temporal classification (CTC), an alignment-flexible objective known to mitigate it there, to MDLM supervised fine-tuning. By relaxing the strict position-wise match that CE imposes, CTC gives the loss room to absorb small positional shifts; concretely, we modified CTC objective to use a special <slack> token that absorbs positional uncertainty between target tokens and output positions, and a updated collapse map that preserves target surface forms. Across four open-ended generation benchmarks, the resulting model consistently improves over both the original model and a matched cross-entropy-trained baseline, with statistically significant gains on all four. These results identify training-side alignment flexibility as a useful design dimension for MDLM SFT, complementary to the inference-time approaches explored in prior work.

Distributed Optimization Involving Non-Lipschitzian, Linear Composite Functions: Unified Algorithm Design and Convergence Analysis

Liang Ran, Huaqing Li, Lifeng Zheng, Jun Li, Run Tang

原文摘要

This paper formulates a generic distributed nonsmooth optimization problem subject to edge-based equality constraints, local inequality constraints characterized by general convex functions, as well as globally coupling constraints including affine equality and nonlinear inequality. The terminal goal is to minimize the sum of local non-differentiable convex functions and proximable nonsmooth convex composite terms attached to linear operators, over networked multi-agent systems. This formulated framework not only applies in complex practical problems but also reduces to existing distributed optimization structures. To cope with technical issues caused by local linear mappings, potential multiple nonsmooth functions and coupling nonlinear constraints, we first derive a new local first-order condition, and further present a novel fully distributed optimization algorithm based on variable decompositions and proximal operators. Specifically, the proposed algorithm allows each agent to update states via local information exchange and through {locally fixed step-sizes}, and to find inexact solutions of subproblems without loss of convergence speed. In contrast to existing tailor-made algorithms for the bounded gradients of objective functions or affine constraints, our algorithm is capable of solving more practical cases involving general convex functions and nonlinear constraints. Under mild assumptions, the convergence rate $o(1/k)$ in terms of the optimality and successive-difference metrics is achieved, by constructing the equivalent variational inequalities of the proposed algorithm. Finally, numerical experiments on practical application problems illustrate the theoretical results.

InfMasking: A Unified Variational Framework for Synergistic Multimodal Learning

原文摘要

Multimodal models are expected to exploit synergistic information, that is, information available only when multiple modalities are observed together. In practice, however, a fusion module can fit the training objective by relying on a dominant modality or on information that modalities share, and the synergy between modalities is often left unused. We propose InfMasking, a unified multimodal learning framework based on Infinite Masking. Before fusion, InfMasking randomly masks the features of each modality; each sampled mask produces a different partial combination of cross-modal evidence and a fused representation of the corresponding modality interactions. All masked fused representations are required to remain consistent with a reference target: the unmasked fused view when training is unsupervised, and the class proxy of the task label when labels are available. Maintaining this consistency across diverse partial combinations discourages reliance on a dominant modality or on shared information alone, and drives the fusion module to learn cross-modal interaction patterns that remain meaningful under partial observations. Since the objective is an expectation over infinitely many masks, we model the masked fused representations as Gaussian and optimize closed-form variational bounds, whose population-moment gaps are controlled by the masking-induced covariance under this model. On the evaluated benchmarks, InfMasking improves predictive performance and yields higher mean PID estimates of task-label synergy in learned modality-specific representations, alongside higher InterSHAP interaction attribution in the trained predictors. Code is available at https://github.com/brightest66/InfMasking.

scTREAT: Latent Diffusion for Single-Cell Drug-Response Prediction

Zhaokang Liang, Shuyang Zhuang, Xiaoran Jiao, Weian Mao, Hao Chen, Chunhua Shen

原文摘要

Generating drug-induced transcriptional responses requires a model to account for cellular background together with molecular identity and dose. We present scTREAT, the first diffusion framework to factorize state and drug guidance for single-cell drug-response prediction. A shared latent expression space connects baseline and response, while Guided Decomposable Attention (GD-Attn) injects a baseline representation and a dose-conditioned molecular embedding. Independent channel dropout exposes four conditioning states during training; inference combines three conditional predictions with separately specified state and drug coefficients, and dose modulates drug-guidance strength. On condition-level pseudobulk profiles derived from the Tahoe-100M single-cell atlas, scTREAT achieves the best value on 10 of 12 metrics for unseen cell line-drug combinations (UC) and 11 of 12 for unseen drugs (UD). Ablations examine condition injection, molecular representation, and guidance design. On UD, the relative gains over the second-best model reach 36.11% and 34.21% for DEG logFC-Spearman and logFC-Pearson. These results demonstrate the effectiveness of combining shared latent expression modeling with explicit state and drug conditioning for response prediction.

K-subareas partitioning subject to coinciding boundary segments of neighboring subareas

Mogens Plessen

原文摘要

A method for the problem of partitioning an area into K subareas subject to coinciding boundary segments of neighboring subareas is presented. The given area may be non-convex and may additionally include obstacle areas. The proposed hierarchical method involves three steps: repeated bisection splitting, merging and the solution of traveling salesman problems. Geographic real-world outdoors areas data is used for the evaluation of the method. The benefit of computational simplicity at the cost of imbalanced subarea sizes is highlighted.

Equivariant Deep Learning in Direct-Product Space for Electronic-Structure Hamiltonian Prediction

Shi Yin, Zujian Dai, Xinyang Pan, Lixin He

原文摘要

Most existing equivariant architectures for Hamiltonian prediction propagate features in direct-sum spaces of irreducible spherical tensors, whereas the target Hamiltonian is naturally an operator block in a direct-product representation over local orbital and spin bases. This representation mismatch fragments contiguous Hamiltonian blocks, obscures direct manipulation of orbital couplings, and organizes features into irregular angular-momentum components that require numerous transformations and are poorly aligned with efficient hardware execution and memory management. To address both the representation mismatch and computational bottleneck, we propose DP-Learner, an equivariant learning framework that performs message passing directly on Hamiltonian-like operator blocks in the direct-product space. Theoretically, we propose Lie-generator-based directional embedding and invariantly weighted left--right products and contractions that preserve equivariance to SO(3), SU(2), and spatial inversions, without explicit Clebsch--Gordan decomposition or inverse reconstruction. Methodologically, we instantiate this principle as a Transformer architecture, in which Hamiltonian-like feature matrices or tensors evolve through equivariant operators in the direct-product space, while non-linear invariant scalar routing controls structured gating over matrix units, directional propagation, attention, and environment-embedded context interactions. We further construct MP-HAM-110K, a large-scale Hamiltonian dataset comprising more than 110,000 material structures covering 68 elements with both Hamiltonian and wavefunction data. Experiments on MP-HAM-110K and Materials-HAM-SOC demonstrate that DP-Learner dramatically improves Hamiltonian prediction accuracy and inference efficiency over the state-of-the-art method.

EvoOptiGraph: Weakness-Driven Coevolution via Graph-Based Structural Generation for Optimization Modeling

Qingcan Kang, Mingyang Liu, Xiaojin Fu, Shixiong Kai, Tao Zhong, Mingxuan Yuan

原文摘要

Automating optimization modeling from natural language with large language models (LLMs) faces two key challenges. First, training corpora lack structural diversity. Second, data generation pipelines remain static and decoupled from model learning. To address these challenges, we propose EvoOptiGraph, a novel framework where data and model co-evolve, driven by model weaknesses. EvoOptiGraph represents each mixed-integer linear program (MILP) as an attributed bipartite graph and applies validity-preserving evolutionary operators to generate structurally diverse instances. The evolved graphs are converted into solver code and natural language via deterministic compilation and verified back-translation. Training proceeds in two stages: supervised fine-tuning (SFT) on an initial dataset, followed by reinforcement learning with verifiable rewards (RLVR), where graph-derived weakness signals guide the generation of new instances targeting the model's failures. This forms a closed loop that continuously updates the training distribution. Empirical results on six public datasets show that EvoOptiGraph significantly outperforms larger generalist models, agentic methods, and specialized baselines in accuracy, executability, and generalization. These results demonstrate that targeted data-model coevolution is an effective strategy for improving LLMs on optimization modeling tasks.

Randomized and Oracle-Based Feasible Directions Methods for Nonsmooth Nonconvex Constrained Optimization

Dan Greenstein, Nadav Hallak

原文摘要

Minimizing nonsmooth nonconvex objectives over general convex sets using no derivatives of the objective, together with structural access to the constraint set, poses a fundamental geometric difficulty: at boundary points, the feasible direction cone may fail to be closed, preventing the construction of finite sets of search directions that capture all feasible descent directions. We develop a feasible-directions framework for problems structured as the difference between a continuously differentiable function and a convex function over a closed convex set, and access the objective without knowledge of its decomposition, through exact line searches along feasible segments. To address the geometric obstruction, we introduce $η$-feasible directions, which remain uniformly separated from the boundary of the feasible direction cone, enabling finite-direction search even in the presence of nonlinear constraints. We present two algorithmic realizations of this framework. The first assumes access to an $η$-direction oracle and extends feasible-directions methods from linear to general convex constraints. The second replaces the oracle by a noise-augmented randomization scheme that constructs spanning directions from the affine-hull inner normal and almost surely avoids nonsmooth boundary points when initialized outside that set. Under curvature bounds and Lipschitz continuity of the smooth component's gradient, we jointly control the spanning coefficients and feasible step lengths of the oracle construction. This yields finite-time approximate $d$-stationarity along every unit feasible direction admitting a prescribed positive step length. For both methods, we also establish a rate in the proximal directional minimization (PDM) measure, assuming uniformly bounded direction-set sizes. Randomized exploration ensures that, almost surely, every accumulation point is $d$-stationary.

Spectral Hierarchy of the Cosmic Web

Francisco-Shu Kitaura, Francesco Sinigaglia

原文摘要

We introduce a spectral hierarchy of cosmic-web classifications obtained by applying simple scale-weighting kernels to the density field before performing a standard eigenvalue-based web classification. This unifies and extends several widely used web definitions within a single framework: the familiar potential/tidal web (large-scale, nonlocal), a curvature-based web (more local, peak- and ridge-sensitive), and additional higher-derivative levels that progressively emphasize smaller-scale structure. Because the classification is built from second derivatives of the filtered field, successive hierarchy levels align naturally with operator families that appear in renormalised bias and effective descriptions of large-scale structure, providing an explicit bridge between cosmic-web environments and long- and short-range nonlocal bias ingredients. We quantify the information content of the hierarchy with a compact statistic: we map each cell to one of four ordered web types (void, sheet, filament, knot), construct a corresponding ``web contrast'' field, and measure its cross-correlation with halos from the AbacusSummit simulation suite on a coarse mesh with $ΔL\simeq 5.5\,h^{-1}\mathrm{Mpc}$. We find that the hierarchy retains significant tracer-relevant information from very large scales down to the mesh Nyquist limit, with the more local (curvature/higher-derivative) levels dominating toward nonlinear scales. This makes the spectral hierarchy a practical, interpretable conditioning basis for fast mock-galaxy production and field-level modelling, and a flexible tool for studying environment-dependent clustering and assembly bias.

Not Losing Your Way: Mitigating Visual-Inertial Odometry Drift through On-Demand Visual Feature Creation

Simone D'Angelo, Gianmarco Corrado, Federico Esposito, Vincenzo Scognamiglio, Fabio Ruggiero

原文摘要

Visual-inertial odometry (VIO) can degrade during aerial inspection in repetitive or poorly textured environments. We propose an active environment-modification framework for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) relying on cameras and an inertial measurement unit only, without prior maps or additional localization sensors. Inspired by the fairy tale of Tom Thumb, the UAV creates visual features on demand by releasing ground markers or marking walls through physical contact. An information-based indicator triggers interventions using temporal confirmation and hysteresis. Evaluation includes three simulated environments and a 900-run factorial campaign. Lower cruise speed and active marking are associated with reduced divergence, while accuracy among non-divergent runs depends on speed-strategy interactions. Corridor experiments, with five runs per configuration, use OptiTrack for flight control while VIO-based marking decisions remain active online. The combined framework reduces the reported position root mean square error by approximately 35% relative to baseline VIO, supporting active feature creation for drift mitigation.

ReferClaw: Disambiguating User Intent for Egocentric Assistance

Hangyu Qin, Junbin Xiao, Angela Yao

原文摘要

Users of egocentric AI assistants often ask short, ambiguous questions whose intended referents cannot be uniquely resolved from video and dialogue history. For example, "Where did I leave it?" may refer to several previously handled objects. Existing VideoQA systems typically commit to a single interpretation, risking plausible but intention-misaligned answers. We introduce ReferClaw, an agentic framework that formulates egocentric streaming QA as an interactive process: the assistant asks clarifying questions to resolve user intent before answering. Three cooperating agents identify candidate interpretations, request clarification, and generate answers grounded in the resolved intent and visual evidence. A bounded, cost-aware policy balances expected information gain against user effort while limiting clarification turns and question complexity. Referclaw learns from interaction through intent-specific skill updates and process-reward-guided policy optimization with agent-level credit assignment. Evaluations on augmented egocentric QA benchmarks demonstrate improved answer accuracy and joint answer-and-grounding performance over existing baselines, alongside zero-shot transfer across datasets. These findings support interactive clarification as a practical approach to resolving online user intent in egocentric streaming assistance.

CoDiMAD: Diffusion-Based Privileged Distillation for Communication-Free Multi-Robot Coordination

Jiyue Tao, Shunheng Xin, Tongsheng Shen, Dexin Zhao, Feitian Zhang

原文摘要

Decentralized multi-robot coordination under partial observability remains challenging, especially when agents act solely on local sensing without communication. Privileged policy distillation provides a promising approach by transferring knowledge from a globally informed oracle to sensor-constrained students. However, in multi-agent systems, the same local observation may correspond to multiple global configurations requiring qualitatively different cooperative actions, making the conditional action distribution inherently multi-modal. Standard deterministic distillation collapses these modes to their mean, often yielding invalid or hesitant actions. To address this issue, we propose CoDiMAD, a three-stage framework that trains a privileged oracle with MAPPO, constructs an offline dataset of local-observation-oracle-action pairs, and distills the oracle into decentralized students parameterized as conditional denoising diffusion probabilistic models. By approximating the conditional oracle-action distribution through the diffusion reverse process, CoDiMAD samples decisive actions from coherent coordination modes rather than averaging across them. Theoretical analysis characterizes the mode-averaging failure of deterministic distillation and the distributional recovery property of diffusion-based distillation. Experiments on three cooperative tasks show that CoDiMAD consistently outperforms direct local MARL and deterministic distillation baselines. The source code will be made publicly available upon acceptance.

DEQ-Det: Dual Evidence Queries for Few-Shot Analog IC Device Detection

Zidong Zhao, Rong Huang, Chengxing Fan, Jie Hu, Malik Haris, Ghazal A. Fahmy, Morteza Mousazadeh, Guoqiang Zhang

原文摘要

Detecting analog integrated circuit (IC) devices in layout images supports circuit analysis and inspection. With only a few annotated examples, variation in device geometry and visual similarity to dummy or routing structures make reliable detection difficult. Foreground similarity alone can highlight plausible targets without distinguishing them from competing layout patterns. We propose Dual Evidence Queries for Detection (DEQ-Det), which constructs complementary foreground and background references from the same support images without additional annotations. Foreground references capture target morphology, while selected background references characterize surrounding layout patterns. Both sources guide query selection and region verification, combining target appearance with layout context. Across five held-out device categories and three random seeds, DEQ-Det achieves macro AP50 of 39.41 and 53.03 at 10 and 30 shots, exceeding the strongest listed baselines by 3.97 and 9.71 points, respectively. A matched 30-shot ablation further shows that RoI background evidence reduces pooled false positives at comparable recall, supporting its role in interference suppression.

PhySA: Decoupling Aesthetic and Physical Rewards for Humanoid Locomotion

Yunwan Fu, Sicheng He, Jiageng Mao, Yue Wang

原文摘要

Humanoid locomotion policies trained without an explicit smoothness objective tend to produce jerky, high-energy gaits that stress actuators. Vision-language models (VLMs) offer an appealing reward source: given a rendered rollout, a VLM returns an aesthetic quality score on [0,10] without task-specific feature engineering. We find, however, that aesthetic preference and physical smoothness point in opposite directions: across four production VLMs, clips with higher joint acceleration receive higher aesthetic scores (mean Pearson r=+0.66). We study PhySA (Physical Smoothness and Aesthetics), which keeps the two on separate, independently removable reward channels: a sparse, asynchronous VLM score and a phase-triggered correction channel that adjusts physical penalty weights from simulator state. Ablations attribute the smoothness gain to the correction channel. On MuJoCo Humanoid-v5 at 2.6M steps, PhySA lowers joint acceleration by 26 to 32% relative to vanilla PPO, Text2Reward, and Eureka (three seeds), at the cost of shorter episodes. In a single extended run it lowers joint acceleration by 59.5% relative to Prompt2Policy, while a three-seed replication shows a smaller, non-significant reduction (7.2%). The gain does not transfer to IsaacLab or the Unitree G1, even after rescaling the smoothness term.

Adversarially Robust Streaming Algorithms for $(k, z)$-Clustering

原文摘要

We design adversarially robust algorithms for dynamic geometric streams that $(1 + ε)$-approximate $k$-Median and $k$-Means in Euclidean space $\mathbb{R}^d$, using $\tilde{O}(kd \mathrm{poly}(ε^{-1}))$ space. This result significantly improves a recent $O(d\log n)$-approximation for $k$-Median [Gribelyuk, Lin, Woodruff, Yu, and Zhou, FOCS 2026], and is furthermore the first algorithm whose space is linear in $kd$, even in the oblivious (non-adaptive) setting. We develop several new techniques which may be of independent interest, including a new data-oblivious Euclidean primitive called hierarchical Lipschitz assignment, a robust dimensionality reduction for clustering, and a robust streaming algorithm for inner-product queries.

GEKey: Learning Geodesic Eccentric 3D Keypoints via Self-Supervision

Pierre Onghena, Santiago Velasco-Forero, Beatriz Marcotegui

原文摘要

Point clouds represent 3D object geometry as sets of spatial coordinates. A fundamental task in their analysis is keypoint detection, i.e., identifying a sparse subset of points that captures the most salient features. While supervised methods rely on manual annotations, unsupervised approaches leverage intrinsic geometric properties to localize keypoints without human input. We introduce GEKey, a self-supervised framework that uses the geodesic eccentricity transform, an SE(3)-invariant geometric measure, to identify instance-specific salient points. These points serve as pseudo-labels to train a model that aligns its predictions with the object's intrinsic structure. GEKey is simple, efficient, and robust, preserving intra-class variation by balancing instance-specific and category-level structure. Extensive experiments on ShapeNetCoreV2, KeypointNet, CAPE, ITOP, and DeformingThings4D show state-of-the-art performance in both keypoint detection and alignment, with strong resilience to noise, downsampling, deformations, and real-world conditions. The code and pretrained models are available at https://github.com/Pierreoo/GEKey.

faulTPM: Exposing AMD fTPMs' Deepest Secrets

Hans Niklas Jacob, Christian Werling, Robert Buhren, Jean-Pierre Seifert

原文摘要

Trusted Platform Modules constitute an integral building block of modern security features. Moreover, as Windows 11 made a TPM 2.0 mandatory, they are subject to an ever-increasing academic challenge. While discrete TPMs - as found in higher-end systems - have been susceptible to attacks on their exposed communication interface, more common firmware TPMs (fTPMs) are immune to this attack vector as they do not communicate with the CPU via an exposed bus. In this paper, we analyze a new class of attacks against fTPMs: Attacking their Trusted Execution Environment can lead to a full TPM state compromise. We experimentally verify this attack by compromising the AMD Secure Processor, which constitutes the TEE for AMD's fTPMs. In contrast to previous dTPM sniffing attacks, this vulnerability exposes the complete internal TPM state of the fTPM. It allows us to extract any cryptographic material stored or sealed by the fTPM regardless of authentication mechanisms such as Platform Configuration Register validation or passphrases with anti-hammering protection. First, we demonstrate the impact of our findings by - to the best of our knowledge - enabling the first attack against Full Disk Encryption solutions backed by an fTPM. Furthermore, we lay out how any application relying solely on the security properties of the TPM - like Bitlocker's TPM- only protector - can be defeated by an attacker with 2-3 hours of physical access to the target device. Lastly, we analyze the impact of our attack on FDE solutions protected by a TPM and PIN strategy. While a naive implementation also leaves the disk completely unprotected, we find that BitLocker's FDE implementation withholds some protection depending on the complexity of the used PIN. Our results show that when an fTPM's internal state is compromised, a TPM and PIN strategy for FDE is less secure than TPM-less protection with a reasonable passphrase.

BizAgentBench: Unveiling Hidden Challenges in Deploying Long-Horizon Agents for Real-World Business

原文摘要

Existing long-horizon agent benchmarks often emphasize final task success while providing limited assessment of intermediate execution validity. Yet real-world business operations require agents to navigate extensive, potentially outdated or conflicting policies while satisfying critical constraints throughout execution. These requirements are particularly consequential in high-stakes domains such as payments, where intermediate violations can incur financial losses or regulatory consequences regardless of the final outcome. To bridge this evaluation gap, we introduce BizAgentBench, a multi-turn benchmark grounded in real-world procedures from a leading payments company. Its executable environment integrates 789 knowledge documents and 601 discoverable business tools, with consistent policies, states, and tool behavior. The benchmark comprises 50 tasks involving resource constraints, temporal dependencies, prior commitments, and conflicting or outdated guidance. Each task is validated through reference execution, while deterministic checks assess both goal attainment and execution validity without prescribing a single solution path. Experiments reveal substantial limitations even among frontier models: Claude Opus 5 and GPT-6 Sol achieve strict success rates of only 64.0% and 61.3%, respectively. For Qwen3.8-27B, goal attainment reaches 42.0%, but strict success drops to 32.7%, demonstrating how outcome-based evaluation can mask invalid execution. Beyond success rates, DeepSeek-V4.1-Flash averages 191.3 tool calls per run, approximately 70% more than reference executions, revealing substantial execution overhead. Overall, BizAgentBench establishes a testbed for evaluating and advancing long-horizon agents beyond task completion, toward reliable and constraint-compliant execution in complex business environments.

$O(1/n)$ Convergence Rate for RVI $Q$-Learning

Avik Kar, Siddharth Chandak, Rahul Singh, Shalabh Bhatnagar

原文摘要

We establish finite-time convergence guarantee for synchronous relative value iteration (RVI) $Q$-learning for finite weakly communicating Markov decision processes (MDPs). For stochastic Krasnosel'skiĭ--Mann iterations driven by a non-expansive, linearly regular map on a finite-dimensional normed space, we establish last-iterate mean-squared residual bounds under martingale-difference noise whose conditional second moment grows at most linearly with the squared residual. Suitable polynomial stepsizes of order $n^{-a}$ yield an $O(n^{-a})$ rate for $0<a\leq1$. We verify linear regularity and the noise condition for the centered Bellman operator for finite weakly communicating MDPs. Applying the general result gives an $O(n^{-1})$ bound on the mean-squared Bellman span residual of RVI $Q$-learning iterates when a suitable stepsize sequence is used. The positive gap between optimal and suboptimal stationary deterministic policies then yields an $O(n^{-1})$ bound on the expected suboptimality of the greedy policy. Consequently, $O(ε^{-1})$ synchronous iterations suffice for an $ε$-optimal policy in expectation. These guarantees are instance-dependent, with constants that depend on the hitting-time parameters and the suboptimality gap of the second-best policy.

Randomized Parallel Complexity of Weakly Convex Optimization

Kang Liu

原文摘要

We study the minimum number of query rounds needed to find approximate stationary points of nonsmooth weakly convex functions, measured by the gradient of the Moreau envelope. Each round permits multiple simultaneous queries. In the stated parameter regime, the standard subgradient rate is optimal in sufficiently high dimensions, even for randomized algorithms making polynomially many parallel queries per round. We then show how the order structure of the real line enables faster search: a deterministic algorithm using only function values achieves logarithmic round complexity, with a further reduction through parallel queries. Matching lower bounds hold even when each query returns the entire subdifferential. Together, these results clarify the role of dimension in determining the benefits of parallel queries for weakly convex optimization.

Instrumental Variables in Continuous-Time Stochastic Processes

Lars Pennig, Søren Wengel Mogensen, Niki Kilbertus

原文摘要

Causal questions often arise in systems that evolve in continuous time. While instrumental variable (IV) methods provide a principled approach to identify causal effects in static or discrete-time settings, even in the presence of unobserved confounding, they do not yet extend to continuous-time dynamics. In this work, we develop an IV framework for stationary continuous-time stochastic processes parameterized by stochastic differential equations (SDE), where the instrument itself takes the form of a stochastic process. We encode the structural sparsity and causal effects directly at the infinitesimal level of the drift, and contrast these assumptions with the IV assumptions on the discretized version of the same process. Based on these structural assumptions, we derive moment restrictions using path-valued instruments. We show how these restrictions simplify for Ornstein-Uhlenbeck processes and present an identification condition together with a corresponding consistent estimation method. Finally, we extend our estimation framework to nonlinear causal effects by expressing the path-based moment restrictions leveraging the signature kernel. Empirically, our method recovers causal effects in confounded continuous-time systems where maximum-likelihood-based estimation and discrete-time IV methods are systematically biased.
