FreePath: Neural Mean Free Path for Image Dehazing

Rongrong Gao, Jingxuan Feng, Wenyu Xu

原文摘要

Single image dehazing requires recovering scene radiance from visual responses that are weakened and veiled by participating media. Existing methods either invert explicit scattering variables, which can be unstable under complex scenes, or learn direct restoration mappings, which often discard the physical organization of haze formation. We present \emph{FreePath}, a neural mean free path framework for image dehazing. Instead of estimating atmospheric parameters, FreePath represents dehazing as feature space path state restoration, inspired by the expected distance a visual response can propagate before interacting with haze. Within a residual encoder and decoder, the Mean Free Path Residual Block learns path and collision fields to guide haze constrained correction, while FreePath State Conservation Integration preserves restored path states during deep feature aggregation. Experiments on paired CDD-11 haze images and real RTTS scenes show that FreePath consistently improves full reference fidelity, no reference perceptual quality, and visual faithfulness over representative dehazing baselines.

Vis2State: Visual Reasoning through Executable State Abstractions

Sheng Jin, Wentao Liu, Chen Qian

原文摘要

Solving visual puzzles requires both accurate interpretation of visual evidence and reliable computation under task-specific rules. Embedding visual assumptions and task constraints directly in solving code makes the represented problem difficult to inspect and revise independently. We introduce Vis2State, a training-free agentic framework that abstracts visual puzzles into explicit, revisable problem states linking visual inspection and execution. Visual inspection guides state construction and refinement, while generated programs solve the represented problem. The model constructs both the state and the program without predefined puzzle schemas or solving procedures. Inspection and execution feedback allow it to revise the problem representation and solving procedure independently. Vis2State achieves the state-of-the-art performance on four benchmarks. Cross-model evaluation further demonstrates consistent gains. Ablations, error analyses, and fixed-program state interventions further support the effectiveness of the state-centered design. The code will be made publicly available to facilitate future research.

Foundation Model-Driven Semantic Change Detection in Remote Sensing Imagery

Hengtong Shen, Li Yan, Hong Xie, Yaxuan Wei, Xinhao Li, Wenfei Shen, Peixian Lv, Fei Tan

原文摘要

Remote sensing (RS) change detection is essential for interpreting surface dynamics. Semantic change detection (SCD) further enables pixel-level understanding of multi-class transitions, yet remains sensitive to pseudo-changes induced by imaging conditions. Recent RS foundation models extract semantically consistent features across temporal and environmental variations, which is critical for mitigating pseudo-changes. However, existing SCD methods are often rigid and backbone-specific, lacking the flexibility to integrate diverse multi-scale features from emerging foundation models. To this end, we introduce a modular Cascaded Gated Decoder (CG-Decoder) that bridges various backbones and SCD tasks, processing multi-scale features in a coarse-to-fine manner while enabling adaptive change extraction. Building upon the RS foundation model PerA, we present PerASCD, a unified SCD framework. We further propose a Soft Semantic Consistency Loss (SSCLoss) to mitigate numerical instability in mixed-precision training. Extensive experiments on SECOND and LandsatSCD show that PerASCD achieves new state-of-the-art Sek scores (26.11% and 65.21%), surpassing the previous best by 0.61% and 4.95%, respectively. It also demonstrates exceptional data efficiency (outperforming the full-data baseline with 50% data), seamless cross-backbone generalization, and enhanced interpretability. Our approach maintains robust semantic consistency under radiometric variations, providing a reliable SCD solution. Code: https://github.com/SathShen/PerASCD.git.

Rigorously Certified Neural-Network Computation of Nonlinear Water Waves at Near-Machine Precision

Michal Shavit, Yongji Wang, Tristan Buckmaster

原文摘要

We present a computational framework that combines machine-learning-based discovery with rigorous computer-assisted numerical certification and formal verification for strongly nonlinear partial differential equations. We demonstrate the approach for periodic gravity-capillary traveling water waves. Physics-informed neural networks are used as a search mechanism, with the wave profile, wave speed and, in continuation experiments, surface tension learned directly from the governing equations without training data. Through a staged training and refinement procedure, the neural networks achieve near-machine-precision residuals of the governing equations, even in strongly nonlinear regimes. A single formulation recovers high-amplitude Stokes waves, Crapper waves and Wilton ripples. Continuation from a high-amplitude Wilton ripple in surface tension reveals new high-amplitude candidate solutions. We freeze one candidate as an explicit finite representation and rigorously certify a uniform bound on its governing-equation residual using interval arithmetic, accounting for floating-point roundoff, Fourier truncation, aliasing and grid-to-continuum errors. This independently validates the neural-network accuracy. We formalize the certification argument in Lean, which machine-checks the deductions from certified numerical bounds to the residual theorem. Both the interval certification and formalization were developed with substantial assistance from a large language model, while the validity of the result remains independent of the language model: the numerical bounds are rigorously enclosed by interval arithmetic and the subsequent mathematical deductions are checked by the Lean kernel. Together, these steps provide a pipeline from neural discovery to rigorous numerical certification and machine-checked verification with auditable mathematical guarantees.

CacheGraft: Enhancing Retrieval-Augmented Generation via Latent-Space Document Enrichment

Vihan Lakshman, Peter Baile Chen, Zhuohan Gu, Michael Cafarella

原文摘要

Recent work in machine learning has demonstrated that transformer-based language model agents can communicate state not only through text, but also directly in latent space via key-value (KV) caches. In this paper, we argue that such cache-to-cache translation can provide utility beyond the original motivating application of real-time agent communication and can instead be utilized for retrieval-augmented generation (RAG). Building on the Cache-to-Cache (C2C) fusion framework, our proposed system CacheGraft encodes each corpus passage offline into a fused KV cache representation between a larger sharer model (4B parameters in our experiments) and a smaller receiver model (0.6B parameters) such that this cache can be injected into the receiver at query time with no need for the larger model. Across five QA benchmarks and two independent locally-run judges, CacheGraft improves answer quality over the text-only receiver baseline in 29 out of 30 comparisons, of which 17 of the 30 are statistically significant. Notably, these gains are zero-shot with respect to the fuser, which was never trained on retrieval data. These initial results suggest that latent-space document enrichment may be a promising avenue for enhancing the performance of RAG systems, particularly in compute-constrained settings where it is only feasible to deploy a small model at inference time.

AutoVend: Benchmarking LLM Agents on Long-Horizon Autonomous Vending Operations

原文摘要

Large language model (LLM) agents are extending agent-mediated commerce on the Web from shopping for consumers to operating businesses for sellers. In online-to-offline (O2O) commerce, decisions are issued through Web-based platforms but realized through costly physical execution. Evaluating such agents requires going beyond individual transactions to ask whether decisions made online turn into sustained economic returns. We introduce AutoVend, a benchmark in which one LLM agent manages 20 vending machines across five site types through a Web-based operating interface for 180 simulated days. Its data-grounded simulator combines a shared warehouse, procurement lead times, paid replenishment, inventory expiration, and recurring operating costs. We evaluate five LLM agents against a rule-based inventory-control baseline and diagnose their site coordination, execution, and performance over time. Four of five evaluated LLM agents fall short of this baseline, and returns per dollar of inference cost rank models differently from returns alone. Operational analyses show that gains in individual metrics do not consistently yield stronger economic growth, as inventory and execution costs erode these gains. Trajectory analysis further reveals difficulties in grounding feasible actions, managing inventory commitments, and converting feedback into effective policy revisions.

原文摘要

We present \textbf{WeLM-Image}, a unified image foundation model that integrates multimodal understanding into text-to-image generation, instruction-guided editing, and multi-reference synthesis. Designed for single-GPU deployment in WeChat's large-scale consumer applications, the model processes text, reference images, and target latents as one interleaved sequence. A Mixture-of-Transformers (MoT) backbone combines shared attention with independent understanding and generation parameters to limit optimization interference. Equipping each path with Mixture-of-Experts (MoE) modules provides sparse capacity, with 31.7B stored parameters and approximately 5.4B generation parameters activated per target latent token. A generation-oriented data engine combines a knowledge-grounded visual vocabulary with large-scale visual clustering to balance semantic coverage and editing tasks, while training-time evaluation guides iterative data refinement. Bilingual annotations and verified editing supervision support progressive training up to native 1.5K resolution. We optimize generation and editing separately with rubric- and checklist-based rewards, then consolidate the specialized policies through noise-aware on-policy distillation. In the reported overall comparisons, the 1536-resolution model ranks first among the evaluated open-source models on PRISM-Bench, Qwen-Image-Bench, and UnicBench. MeanFlow-based few-step distillation yields WeLM-Image-Turbo, which generates a $1024\times1024$ image in 4.98\,s on a single NVIDIA H20 GPU using eight guidance-free steps.

Projection-Free Evolution Strategies for Continuous Prompt Search

Yu Cai, Canxi Huang, Xiaoyu He

原文摘要

Continuous prompt search offers a computationally efficient alternative to conventional parameter tuning in natural language processing tasks. Nevertheless, its practical effectiveness can be significantly hindered by the black-box nature and the inherent high-dimensionality of the objective landscapes. Existing methods typically mitigate these challenges by restricting the search to a randomly projected low-dimensional subspace. However, the effectiveness and underlying motivation of the projection mechanism remain ambiguous. In this paper, we first empirically demonstrate that despite the prompt space possessing a low-dimensional structure, random projections fail to adequately capture this essential structure. Motivated by this finding, we propose a projection-free prompt search method based on evolutionary strategies. By directly optimizing in the full prompt space with an adaptation mechanism calibrated to the intrinsic dimension, our method achieves competitive search capabilities without additional computational overhead. Furthermore, to bridge the generalization gap in few-shot scenarios, we introduce a confidence-based regularization mechanism that systematically enhances the model's confidence in the target verbalizers. Experimental results on seven natural language understanding tasks from the GLUE benchmark demonstrate that our proposed approach significantly outperforms existing baselines.

BEAST3D: Animal behavioral analysis and neural encoding from multi-view video via Gaussian splatting

原文摘要

Multi-view video recordings are increasingly used to capture the 3D movements of animals in experimental settings, yet extracting rich 3D representations from these recordings remains challenging. Supervised pose estimation requires extensive manual annotation, while general-purpose 3D reconstruction models trained on generic scene datasets fail on the specialized imagery and sparse-view setting of laboratory experiments. We address these limitations with BEAST3D, a self-supervised pretraining framework that learns 3D visual representations from unlabeled, calibrated multi-view video. BEAST3D uses a vision transformer to predict 3D Gaussian splats that reconstruct held-out views through differentiable rendering, while simultaneously segmenting the animal from the background. BEAST3D reconstructs 3D structure with as few as four views by conditioning directly on known camera parameters--unlike general-purpose models, which must estimate camera geometry from dense overlapping viewpoints that are seldom available in lab settings. Through comprehensive evaluation across four species, we demonstrate that BEAST3D produces rich, viewpoint-invariant features that transfer effectively to three downstream tasks: novel view synthesis, which validates the quality of the learned 3D representations; multi-view pose estimation, which provides the sparse keypoint trajectories widely used in behavioral analysis; and neural encoding, which relates 3D behavioral features to simultaneously recorded neural activity. BEAST3D thus establishes a versatile framework for behavioral analysis that leverages 3D structure in modern multi-view laboratory recordings.

FFMT: Frequency-Factorized Multi-Rate Tokenization for Music-to-Dance Generation

Qirong Guo, Ruijie Li, Zeyan Li, Sicheng Shu, Guanzhi Ding, Weihang Ding

原文摘要

Dance motion combines slowly varying body configurations with rapid local movements. We investigate how explicit temporal-frequency decomposition can guide the temporal resolution and codebook capacity of discrete motion representations. We introduce frequency-factorized motion tokenization (FFMT), which separates root-relative motion into a low-frequency choreographic scaffold and a complementary high-frequency residual. FFMT uses a lower token rate and a smaller codebook for the low-frequency component, and a higher token rate and a larger codebook for the high-frequency residual. This representation further induces a plan-then-articulate autoregressive factorization: low-frequency tokens establish coarse choreography, while high-frequency tokens realize local motion details conditioned on the generated plan and music. Experiments on AIST++ and FineDance show strong distributional fidelity while preserving realistic diversity and music--motion synchronization. Ablations consistently support frequency factorization, asymmetric temporal allocation, and low-to-high conditioning.

ThermoLLM: LLM-Based Multi-Zone HVAC Control with a Spatiotemporal Context

Kirtan Bhatt, Xiachong Lin, Matthew Amos, Flora D. Salim, Wen Hu

原文摘要

Multi-zone HVAC control is a spatial decision problem in which indoor thermal evolution and control decisions depend not only on outdoor conditions and internal heat gains but also on zone layout, physical adjacency, and delayed thermal interactions across the building. Recent LLM-based HVAC controllers have shown that prompt-based control is feasible. However, these methods produce inconsistent results, are difficult to generalize, and experience control-latency issues. Their performance also relies heavily on numeric reward values, textual feedback, or unstructured retrieval, which limits their ability to make control decisions that account for zone dynamics and thermodynamics. No existing LLM-based methods have used building semantics and dynamics, together with rolling history, as the centre of the LLM context while testing and comparing HVAC control performance with existing LLM-based HVAC approaches. This paper presents ThermoLLM, an LLM-based HVAC control framework tested in a multi-zone building environment. Spatiotemporal context grounding is a main component of ThermoLLM, which uses a spatial knowledge graph derived from Brick-style building semantics and linked with recent observations from a rolling history. We evaluate ThermoLLM against standard control methods and recent state-of-the-art baselines in a five-zone building environment across six climate-season scenarios. ThermoLLM consistently achieves the best energy-comfort trade-offs and outperforms all evaluated baselines in the Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS) rankings across all six scenarios.

Tiny but Trusted: Efficient Vision-Language Reasoning for Time-Series Anomaly Detection

Xiaona Zhou, Muntasir Wahed, Tianjiao Yu, Constantin Brif, Ismini Lourentzou

原文摘要

Recent advances in Vision--Language Models (VLMs) have achieved impressive performance across many tasks, yet prior studies report unsatisfactory performance when applying large language or multimodal models to finding abnormal patterns in sequential data. Public anomaly detection benchmarks typically provide interval annotations but not natural-language rationales, making it difficult to fine-tune VLMs to produce grounded, interpretable decisions. To address this gap, we construct VisAnomBench, a curated benchmark built from public time-series datasets and augmented with high-quality anomaly explanations selected from multiple large VLMs using fine-grained, task-specific rewards. Through fine-tuning on this benchmark, we develop VisAnomReasoner, a parameter-efficient VLM for time-series anomaly detection. Results on VisAnomBench show that VisAnomReasoner achieves more accurate anomaly localization and consistently outperforms all baselines, with improvements of at least 21.23 and 23.87 percentage points in precision and F1, respectively. Additional experiments on the TSB-AD-U benchmark demonstrate strong cross-benchmark generalization, with VisAnomReasoner improving precision and F1 by 9.57 and 13.39 percentage points, respectively.

Adversarial Multiplicity: Cherry-Picked Models and the Limits of Disclosure

Cassandra C. Chou, Benjamin Q. Huynh, Allison Koenecke, Elizabeth T. Chin

原文摘要

Predictive multiplicity -- where similarly accurate models disagree on individual predictions -- can be leveraged to optimize secondary metrics (e.g., fairness) without loss in predictive performance. However, exploiting multiplicity opens the opportunity for motivated parties (or coding agents gaming their objectives) to steer predictions toward their own ends, such as in litigation or consumer disputes with automated decision-making tools. In these adversarial multiplicity settings, we distinguish soft manipulation, where parties optimize over innocuous model choices (e.g., hyperparameter tuning, feature engineering), from hard manipulation, where parties directly perturb model parameters. We find a sufficiently flexible model can be manipulated to reverse any individual prediction with minimal change in predictive performance while passing black-box audits, making hard manipulation viable in most regulatory settings. Soft manipulation has smaller effects but can pass white-box audits requiring full access to code and data. Even aggregate estimates can be manipulated: a model's estimated effect of climate change on wildfires can be fully reversed by hard edits and soft search. We find the Reconcile algorithm typically resolves most disagreements between models, but more often in favor of the manipulator when the opposing model is chosen adversarially compared to at random. We map which manipulations can plausibly pass existing regulations and disclosure policies, and recommend mitigations such as pre-registration, proof of model training, sensitivity analyses, multi-metric evaluations, and committing to versioned public models.

Designing with Cinematic Language: An Intent-Driven Approach to Human-AI Video Clip Co-Creation

Yi He, Zhengxi Yu, Feilin Han, Chuer Chen, Shengqi Dang, Nan Cao

原文摘要

Generative video models have made video creation more accessible, yet creators still struggle to translate high-level narrative intentions into coherent cinematic expressions. Existing systems primarily rely on prompt refinement or expose isolated camera controls, leaving a gap between what to express and how to film it. We present CineAssist, a human-AI co-creation system that treats cinematic language as an interactive design medium connecting creative intentions with executable video controls. We construct a Cinematic Language Design Space and an annotated dataset from 107 filmmaking sources and 1,436 film clips, linking communicative intentions to cinematic parameter values. CineAssist combines a multi-agent workflow for intent alignment and strategy recommendation with an interactive cinematic editor and a context-sensitive preference learner for user-controlled personalization. We evaluate the system through three studies examining end-to-end usability, cinematic quality, and preference evolution. Results show that CineAssist facilitates efficient, controllable, and personalized intent-driven cinematic video creation.

原文摘要

In recent years, AIGC technologies are capable of generating hyper-realistic forged facial images, posing severe threats to facial security safety. To tackle these challenges, early Deepfake research primarily centered on real-fake classification. Recently, growing efforts have been devoted to the Deepfake Attribution (DFA) of generated content. Nevertheless, existing research on Deepfake detection and attribution faces saturated performance in binary classification, limited diversity in datasets and algorithms, and imperfect evaluation protocols, which severely impede practical application. To address these limitations, we propose a comprehensive deepfake detection and attribution benchmark named DeepfakeGenome (DFG). It contains 100 facial forgery algorithms and 2M images in total, achieving 4x to 100x larger than prior DFA benchmarks. We further design 4 protocols for practical evaluation, including a novel retrieval-based attribution paradigm. Unlike previous open-set evaluation metrics, the proposed retrieval metrics are more aligned with the real-world active defense situation of blacklist registration mechanisms. Based on these elaborate designs, we investigate the performance ceiling of deepfake attribution task. Over 2k experimental evaluations are conducted, and 10 insightful findings are derived. We believe this work can provide new insights into the DFA research field. The Code and Benchmark of DFG are avaliable on https://huggingface.co/spaces/DeepfakeGenome/DFG_Page.

When Scores Conflict with Preferences: Pre-Alignment Diagnosis and Adaptive Correction of Constraint Drift in DPO

Ping Liu, Yan Yan

原文摘要

Direct Preference Optimization (DPO) is increasingly used in settings where pairwise preferences coexist with pointwise criteria such as response length, answer correctness, or safety scores. When the two disagree, standard DPO treats pairs whose preferred output scores worse on the pointwise criterion (conflict pairs) in the same way as the remaining (matching) pairs. We characterize a systematic failure mode, constraint drift: for sufficiently small updates, conflict pairs tend to increase constraint cost while matching pairs tend to repair it, and the net change depends on their balance. This balance yields a closed-form pre-alignment diagnostic, $ρ^{*}_{\mathrm{eq}}$, computable from dataset statistics, that indicates whether a dataset is self-correcting or requires intervention. Building on this diagnostic, we propose Conflict-aware DPO (CoDPO), which down-weights conflict pairs with a strength set from $ρ^{*}_{\mathrm{eq}}$ rather than tuned, and adds an adaptive margin shift that addresses residual drift during training. Empirically, drift grows monotonically with conflict exposure on the conflict-dominated domains, and the intervention decision given by $ρ^{*}_{\mathrm{eq}}$ matches the observed drift on every domain, including one that it identifies as self-correcting. On all four domains of the main comparison, CoDPO reduces drift while largely preserving the preference learning of vanilla DPO. Compared with hard filtering and recent constrained and multi-objective baselines, CoDPO also achieves a more favorable drift-preference trade-off.

Design of Multi-UAV Cooperative Deep Semantic Autoencoders for Communication Networks

Xiaoling Han, Bin Lin, Nan Wu, Tony Q. S. Quek

原文摘要

Driven by the rapid development of the low-altitude economy, Uncrewed Aerial Vehicle (UAV) networks have become increasingly important for executing tasks such as search, rescue, and monitoring. However, under bandwidth-constrained scenarios, UAV networks still face significant challenges in task execution efficiency and intelligent processing capabilities. To address these issues, we propose Multi-UAV Cooperative Deep Semantic Autoencoders (MC-DSA) for communication networks. The architecture comprises one Task UAV (T-UAV) and multiple Support UAVs (S-UAVs), which jointly enhance communication efficiency and data-processing capability via semantic communication and cooperation. Specifically, we introduce a semantic matching and source selection mechanism, enabling the proposed MC-DSA to handle low-quality images while ensuring effective utilization of high-quality images. The T-UAV broadcasts a task query, and each S-UAV computes the semantic similarity between its local image and the query. Communication links are established only when the similarity exceeds a predefined threshold. The training algorithm optimizes network parameters through gradient descent, improving semantic feature extraction accuracy. The testing algorithm evaluates UAV collaboration efficiency and communication quality. Experimental results demonstrate that, compared with benchmarks, the proposed MC-DSA improves image semantic segmentation accuracy while maintaining task execution efficiency. As a result, it reduces redundant transmissions and offers an effective solution for multi-UAV communication networks.

EnvOpt: Automated Optimization for Agent Environments

Mingxuan Li, Huanzhi Mao, Qiuyang Mang, Hanchen Li, Joseph E. Gonzalez, Alex Dimakis

原文摘要

An LLM agent's cost and success depend on its model, its harness, and its environment. In addition to the widely studied directions of parameter tuning and harness optimization, we propose the third direction: optimization over stationary environments. Agents are often deployed in rich environments shared by many tasks, such as a company's Slack workspace or a complex collection of data sources, documents or tickets. We call these environments stationary environments. We introduce EnvOpt, a method for automated end-to-end optimization of stationary environments for any given model and harness, using real or synthetic tasks without needing any graders or reference answers. On AutomationBench, EnvOpt reduces the cost of Claude Haiku 4.5 by 72.7% and raises its pass rate by 14.34%. The same environment transfers to Opus 5, cutting its cost by 68.1% with a 1.34% gain. Added on top of Meta-Harness's optimized harness for Haiku 4.5, it lowers cost by a further 83.4% and adds 11.17% accuracy over Meta-Harness alone. Across 5 benchmarks, EnvOpt significantly reduces the cost of agents while improving or maintaining pass rate, and is transferable to different models and different harnesses. We also discuss common successful and rejected environment optimization strategies during automated optimization. More broadly, our results show that how information is represented to an agent shapes both its cost and its success, making the environment worth optimizing in addition to the parameters and the harness.

Taurus: LLM-in-the-Loop CT Annotation Matches Coding Agents at Half the Cost

Bing Hu, Rishabh Sharma

原文摘要

Dense labels of the aorta in CT are slow to draw, and the public aortic CT datasets that could stand in for them each label different structures under their own conventions. Large language model (LLM) agents can now write code and read images. We asked whether such a model labels these scans better as a free-form agent that writes its own segmentation code, or inside a harness, where an automated pass labels the scan and the model reviews the result. We built a harness, Taurus, and compared it with free-form agents by blind label recovery: we withheld the human labels of six public datasets (939 volumes) and scored every approach against each dataset's own classes. In the first version of Taurus, the model's review raised the primary metric on only two of six datasets, by less than the noise between two reviews of the same case. A free-form agent running Claude Opus 5.5 scored higher on most datasets. Moving what the free-form agents did well into the automated pass then carried most of the gain on 38 held-out cases. The final version smooths the label surfaces with a fixed rule and checks for the large errors the automated pass tends to make, such as an aneurysm drawn to half its size. Each check that fires puts a multiple-choice question to the model, with candidate corrections drawn on the scan. It matched the surface smoothness of the human references, and in the primary metric we found no difference from the free-form Opus agent, at under half its cost, $1.22 against $2.71 per case. Most of what made Taurus competitive came from the harness and its automation rather than from the language model itself. Taurus shows that this kind of annotation can be automated, so that expert time can move from drawing labels to checking them.

Discovering Semantic Granularity in Images through Clustering of Pretrained Visual Representations

Ying Dai

原文摘要

Semantic granularity, which refers to the levels at which visual representations organize image content into meaningful entities, is fundamental to image understanding. However, whether pretrained visual representations inherently encode semantic structures at multiple granularities remains poorly understood. This paper presents a representation-driven approach for discovering semantically meaningful image regions at different granularities through clustering of pretrained visual representations without semantic supervision. Specifically, we concatenate selected feature maps extracted from a pretrained visual model and apply a singular value decomposition (SVD)-based projection to derive pixel-wise principal representation map tensor (PRMs). The resulting PRMs captures latent semantic structures embedded in pretrained visual representations, making them accessible to subsequent semantic clustering. We then introduce the semantic continuity rate (SCR), based on the silhouette principle, to quantify the clustering behavior of PRMs at different candidate granularities. Furthermore, we analyze the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of SCR profiles to assess the PRMs suitability for discovering semantic-like meaningful regions at multiple granularities. Our results indicate that PRMs exhibiting a higher proportion of relatively high SNR values over an initial range of cluster numbers tend to yield more semantically meaningful regions across multiple granularities. We evaluate the proposed approach on the COCO-2017 and VOC-2012 validation datasets using Hungarian-matched intersection over union (HIoU). The results demonstrate competitive segmentation performance among the compared methods, supporting the feasibility of discovering useful semantic granularities through clustering PRMs without semantic supervision.

FedDyMem: Efficient Federated Learning with Dynamic Memory and Memory-Reduce for Unsupervised Image Anomaly Detection

Silin Chen, Andy Liu, Kangjian Di, Yichu Xu, Han-Jia Ye, Wenhan Luo, Ningmu Zou

原文摘要

Unsupervised image anomaly detection (UAD) has become a critical process in industrial and medical applications, where models are trained on normal samples without requiring labeled anomalies. However, even normal images may contain sensitive product designs, manufacturing information, or institution-specific population characteristics, making centralized data collection difficult in practical deployments. Federated UAD provides a promising decentralized solution, but it remains challenging because clients use only normal training samples, their feature distributions remain highly heterogeneous within the same task, and communication should be efficient while limiting the exposure of sensitive client information. To address these challenges, we propose FedDyMem, an efficient federated learning method with dynamic memory and memory-reduce for unsupervised image anomaly detection. Instead of exchanging full model parameters, FedDyMem facilitates knowledge sharing between the clients and server through reduced dynamic memory banks. In the local clients, a memory generator and a metric loss are employed to improve the consistency of the feature distribution for normal samples, leveraging the local model to update the memory bank dynamically. For efficient communication and data privacy, a memory-reduce method based on weighted averages is proposed to significantly decrease the scale of memory banks. This representation reduces communication overhead and empirically lowers reconstruction fidelity under inversion attacks. On the server, global memory is constructed and distributed to individual clients through k-means aggregation. Experiments on six federated UAD tasks constructed from eleven public industrial and medical datasets show that FedDyMem consistently improves anomaly detection and localization while reducing communication cost.

AI Slop and Hallucinations in Vulnerability Assessment: A Survey on Reasoning Failures and Trustworthy Mitigation

原文摘要

The integration of Large Language Models (LLMs) into cybersecurity has transformed vulnerability assessment, but it has also produced a trustworthiness crisis driven by the unchecked proliferation of "AI slop." These artifacts, hallucinated vulnerabilities, plausible but incorrect patches, and semantically repackaged bug reports, impose a cognitive burden on human triage pipelines that mirrors a denial-of-service attack. This paper surveys the empirical evidence, identifies a unifying mechanism, and traces a path toward trustworthy triage. We formalize a taxonomy of AI slop grounded in a structured literature review and dissect its root cause: the gap between the causal deductive reasoning of security experts and the autoregressive probabilistic generation of current LLMs. We operationalize this gap through a measurable proxy, the Deductive Coverage Score, and show that chain-of-thought prompting and tool-using agents narrow but do not close it. We review mitigation strategies and argue that passive detection and watermarking target provenance rather than correctness, facing fundamental entropy constraints. We instead advocate for active neuro-symbolic verification, mapping each pipeline component to prior systems with documented limits on security inputs. Finally, we specify two evaluation instruments, CVE-Bench and Slop-Score, including dataset construction, metric formulas, and anti-gaming provisions. By shifting evaluation from linguistic fluency to mathematical verifiability, this survey provides a roadmap for securing emerging AI-driven triage systems.

Test-Time Self-Play: Scaling without a Verifier

Akira Yoshiyama, Akmal Ashirmatov, Jonas Hübotter, Ido Hakimi, Andreas Krause

原文摘要

Test-time scaling methods spend additional compute at deployment to improve a large language model's performance on a hard target problem. Most methods rely on a verifier that scores candidate solutions for correctness, using it to select among or refine the model's outputs. In many deployment regimes, however, a strong verifier on the target problem is unavailable. We introduce Test-Time Self-Play (TTSP), an approach to test-time scaling using asymmetric self-play without reliance on a verifier. On a difficulty-calibrated subset of LiveCodeBench v6, TTSP is the best-performing method at every verifier strength we evaluate, and the gap to the strongest baseline widens as the verifier weakens; in the no-verifier limit, TTSP yields a 35\% absolute improvement in mean@8. The gains hold across a range of verifier strengths, except when the base policy has near-zero coverage of the correct answer.

SONIC-K1: Porting a Universal Humanoid Motion Tracker to a Small Humanoid on a Single GPU

Kyrylo Kolesnichenko, Irvin Steve Cardenas, Jong-Hoon Kim

原文摘要

We present SONIC-K1, to our knowledge the first open-weights whole-body motion tracker for the Booster K1 humanoid, obtained by adapting the SONIC framework to this smaller robot. The policy is trained from scratch on a single shared GPU with a small fraction of the compute reported for SONIC. In MuJoCo simulation, it tracks nearly all held-out motion clips and performs well on external benchmarks under SONIC's success criterion. The first release ran on the real K1 but shook its legs on steps and turns, and simulation showed a sensitivity to actuation delay. We therefore post-trained it with the robot's deployment torque limits, randomized actuation delay and gain randomization. The post-trained v1.0 stays robust under real-robot torque limits and large actuation delays, where the first release often failed, and in our runs on the real K1 it walks and turns without the earlier leg shaking. These results show broad motion-tracking capability on a modest training budget. Code, policy weights and evaluation tools are publicly available.

Structure-aware Reinforcement Learning for Protein Directed Evolution

Zikun Nie, Suyuan Zhao, Yizhen Luo, Siqi Fan, Zaiqing Nie

原文摘要

Protein optimization remains a longstanding goal in life sciences. Existing machine learning-assisted directed evolution (MLDE) methods primarily rely on sequence-only features, overlooking the critical spatial constraints and co-evolutionary interactions encoded in protein structures. However, directly integrating structural information remains challenging due to the scarcity of reliable mutant structures. To address these issues, we propose StructEvo, a novel structure-aware reinforcement learning framework for protein directed evolution. StructEvo employs a delta-structure fusion encoder to approximate mutant structure features via feature differences, enabling dynamic incorporation of spatial knowledge. The vast mutation space is then decomposed into manageable subspaces through a structure-aligned hierarchical action network, while a geometric constraint further stabilizes delta feature learning. Our approach outperforms prior state-of-the-art methods by 9.2% and 16.3% on two challenging optimization benchmarks, and further identifies an experimentally validated epistasis pattern in GFP, highlighting the importance of structural guidance for effective protein directed evolution.

Asymptotic-Preserving Tensor Neural Networks for 3D High-Field Kinetic Equations with Applications to Uncertainty Quantification

Shi Jin, Tian-ai Zhang

原文摘要

Kinetic equations in the high-field regime describe particle transport dominated by electric-field acceleration and collisional relaxation. These equations are widely used in simulations of plasmas and semiconductor devices. Typical models include the Vlasov--Poisson--Fokker--Planck (VPFP) and Boltzmann--Poisson systems. Their high dimensionality and multiscale nature pose two of the major challenges to accurate and efficient numerical solution. To address these challenges, we propose an asymptotic-preserving tensor neural network (APTNN) method. Specifically, to reduce high-dimensional computational costs and memory requirements, we adopt the canonical polyadic (CP) decomposition structure of TNNs to approximate their solutions. We show that the equation residuals retain this decomposition form, allowing high-dimensional loss integrals to be evaluated through combinations of one-dimensional integrals. The resulting computational and storage costs are reduced from exponential to polynomial growth with dimension. To improve the prediction accuracy in the high-field limit, we enhance the baseline AP loss by incorporating the first moment equation. The added loss term directly constrains the limiting flux closure to reduce its approximation error in the high-field regime. The enhanced AP loss can still be evaluated dimension-wise. Numerical results show that APTNN improves prediction accuracy in the high-field regime with significantly reduced computational costs and memory usage. For a 3D3V VPFP problem with multiple random inputs, training takes less than 30 minutes on a single GPU.

原文摘要

Requested-value control is stricter than continuous steering: given $c$ on a human-rating scale, the generated image should attain that value from only limited ratings. We present ScoreDial, which fits a differentiable regressor $R$ to 100-479 human-rated images; once $R$ is fixed, a requested value $c$ is defined on its output scale, and learned target conditioning is paired with error-adaptive guidance that repeatedly reduces $|R(\mathbf{x})-c|$ during sampling. Across tire slip resistance, interior visual complexity, food desire-to-eat, and soap translucency, using one set of sampler settings, ScoreDial reaches requested values and achieves $R$-MAE at most 0.013 over a range of width 0.8 and Spearman $ρ=0.980$, the maximum attainable under our protocol. Because $R$ also drives sampling, we evaluate agreement with $R$ separately from matched sweeps, an independent auditor fitted to the same ratings on a backbone no deployed regressor uses, and blinded human judgments. MPGD-flow also reaches the requested values under $R$, but ScoreDial has larger auditor displacement on every attribute, the largest among all compared methods, and a stronger MPGD-flow setting gives up target agreement without closing this gap. On every attribute, removing target conditioning leaves low $R$-MAE but more than halves auditor displacement, separating precise score correction from attribute movement. Blinded rating studies with 15 raters per attribute show mean human ratings track $c$ on tire and soap, with linear $R^2=0.665$ and $R^2=0.786$, and in forced-choice comparisons of matched sweeps, raters chose ScoreDial's as the clearer progression in at least 84% of judgments against every baseline. Blueprint2CAD: Benchmarking Foundation Models on Engineering Drawing-to-CAD Render Correspondence

Alexander Valverde, Danny Xie-Li, Zhichao Wang, Marcos V. Conde

原文摘要

Engineering drawings specify mechanical parts through orthographic projections. Recognizing which part a drawing depicts underlies part search, design reuse, and digitization, yet no public benchmark measures whether vision models can do it. We introduce Blueprint2CAD, a benchmark for drawing-to-render correspondence: given an orthographic line drawing and a shaded render, usually from another viewpoint, decide whether they show the same part. Its data layer, BlueCAD-30K, applies an open drafting pipeline to 29,925 Zero-to-CAD models, adding view-aligned renders, clean and dimensioned drawings from six viewpoints, and surface-type metadata. Frozen encoders retrieve the matching part from a 10,000-model gallery with up to 65% Recall@1 when viewpoints are known but 43% when they are not, and the four encoders we test lie within six points of each other: viewpoint, not backbone, is the bottleneck. Six zero-shot vision-language models reach only 0.52-0.67 verification accuracy, with model-specific Yes/No biases that chain-of-thought shifts but does not remove; a quick LoRA fine-tuning on in-domain pairs improves verification accuracy by a few points but sharpens these biases and leaves the viewpoint failure intact.

TV-AudioRemover: Joint Text-Visual Guided Sound Removal with Multi-Task Hard-Mixture Curriculum

原文摘要

Visual object removal can eliminate a target from video frames, yet its acoustic trace persists in the soundtrack, causing obvious audio-visual inconsistency. Existing video inpainting models operate solely on pixels, while audio editing models, especially for the sound removal task, are typically driven by text and therefore rely on limited single-modal control, which is less effective than multimodal guidance that provides stronger semantic grounding and temporal synchronization cues. In this paper, we present Text-Visual Guided Sound Removal (TV-AudioRemover), a target sound removal framework that leverages the visually edited video together with a natural-language instruction to suppress the sound associated with the removed visual object from the original audio mixture. To acquire high-quality training data, we devise a pipeline to construct a million-scale dataset of single-object audio-visual aligned samples, from which we synthesize mixture-target pairs customized for model training. To effectively leverage visual context and follow instruction intent, we augment the model architecture with task tokens, generalizable instruction modeling, and modality-specific global guidance. We further adopt multi-task training to strengthen task-role comprehension, and employ a hard-mixture curriculum that leverages semantically similar acoustic mixtures during fine-tuning to enhance fine-grained source discrimination. To support evaluation, we present AV-Remove-Bench, a comprehensive audio-visual object removal benchmark, along with dedicated objective metrics and an MLLM-based evaluation protocol. Experiments demonstrate that our method achieves state-of-the-art performance on both subjective and objective metrics. Project page: https://yjx-research.github.io/TV-AudioRemover/.

Twig: Parallel and Memory-Efficient Tree Speculative Decoding for Hybrid-Attention LLMs

原文摘要

Emerging LLMs increasingly interleave full attention with recurrent linear attention to reduce long-context serving costs. Tree speculative decoding could further accelerate these hybrid models, but recurrent linear-attention layers carry parent-dependent states. Existing engines therefore verify proposal trees sequentially and snapshot the full state per node, causing latency and memory to grow with tree and batch sizes. We present Twig, a kernel--runtime co-design for tree speculative decoding of hybrid LLMs. Twig derives a tree-structured factorization of the linear-attention recurrence and realizes it with a resource-efficient GPU kernel that verifies all nodes in parallel, accelerating linear-attention tree verification by 3.4--7.7$\times$. It losslessly represents speculative state updates as token-level factors and reconstructs only the accepted state, reducing transient state memory by 82--99$\times$ and freeing GPU memory for KV caches. We integrate Twig into SGLang, a widely deployed production LLM serving engine, and further optimize its runtime through batch-wide verification budgeting. Across four models, two GPU platforms, and diverse datasets, Twig achieves up to $4.72\times$ the offline decode throughput of autoregressive decoding and up to $2.03\times$ that of the strongest tree-speculative baseline. Under online agent workloads, Twig reduces TTFT and TPOT by up to $67.6\%$ and $49.9\%$, respectively, over the strongest tree-speculative baseline.
