OpenFlyV2: An onboard vision-language-action model for aerial perception and navigation

Human cognition flexibly draws on a shared perceptual foundation to understand environments, attend to referenced entities, reason about spatial relationships, and act. Endowing aerial robots with an analogous functional organization remains challenging, as existing systems are often specialized for individual capabilities, dependent on offboard computation, or unable to sustain closed-loop operation on resource-constrained platforms. We present OpenFlyV2, a unified onboard vision-language-action architecture that uses a shared vision-language representation to support semantic understanding, language-grounded perception, spatial reasoning, and continuous aerial control within a single model. A compact action expert converts the shared multimodal context into short-horizon flight waypoints, while motion-aware temporal memory and action priors reduce the computational cost of closed-loop execution. We construct \dataset{}, a simulation-based dataset comprising approximately 70,000 navigation trajectories and 60,000 vision-language instruction--response pairs. OpenFlyV2 generates action chunks, each comprising 12 waypoints, entirely onboard at 10 Hz using an NVIDIA Jetson Orin NX. It transfers zero-shot from simulation to physical quadrotor flight, achieving a 48\% navigation success rate across four real-world environments without real-world aerial training data. Extensive results demonstrate that broad vision-language competence and continuous closed-loop flight can coexist within a single model on a resource-constrained aerial platform. Code will be made publicly available at https://github.com/Ideal-ljl/AeroBrain.

One-Step Score-Based Density Ratio Estimation

Wei Chen, Qibin Zhao, John Paisley, Junmei Yang, Delu Zeng

Density ratio estimation (DRE) is a useful tool for quantifying discrepancies between probability distributions, but existing approaches often involve a trade-off between estimation quality and computational efficiency. Classical direct DRE methods are usually efficient at inference time, yet their performance can seriously deteriorate when the discrepancy between distributions is large. In contrast, score-based DRE methods often yield more accurate estimates in such settings, but they typically require considerable repeated function evaluations and numerical integration. We propose One-step Score-based Density Ratio Estimation (OS-DRE), a partly analytic and solver-free framework designed to combine these complementary advantages. OS-DRE decomposes the time score into spatial and temporal components, representing the latter with an analytic radial basis function (RBF) frame. This formulation converts the otherwise intractable temporal integral into a closed-form weighted sum, thereby removing the need for numerical solvers and enabling DRE with only one function evaluation. We further analyze approximation conditions for the analytic frame, and establish approximation error bounds for both finitely and infinitely smooth temporal kernels, grounding the framework in existing approximation theory. Experiments across density estimation, continual Kullback-Leibler and mutual information estimation, and near out-of-distribution detection demonstrate that OS-DRE offers a favorable balance between estimation quality and inference efficiency.

Does Attention-Guided Masking Really Help Object Discovery in Object-Centric Learning?

Youliang Tao, Yanhua Han, Bin Zhao, Juho Kannala, Joni Pajarinen, Rongzhen Zhao

Object-Centric Learning (OCL) aims to decompose images into objects without human annotations. A major family of mainstream methods uses Slot Attention to aggregate image features into object-level representations and then from them reconstructs masked image content, i.e., Random Masking (RM), to provide self-supervision. The recent method DIAS simply masks image patches at uniform randomness yet achieves competitive object discovery accuracy. Since attention during aggregation already possesses object discovery ability, we explore using it to develop a better image patch masking strategy, i.e., Attention Guided Masking (AGM), thereby providing better self-supervision. Results on six recognized datasets show that AGM does not always outperform RM. Under unconditional slot initialization, AGM substantially improves background segmentation on datasets with realistic textures (COCO and VOC); Regardless of conditional or unconditional slot initialization and across datasets, foreground object discovery remains comparable or decreases. We suggest peer researchers in the OCL community that attempts to exploit internal attention semantics to improve OCL with masked decoding are risky. Our source code, model checkpoints and evaluation logs are available on https://github.com/und-entropy/Does-Attention-Guided-Masking-Really-Help-Object-Discovery-in-Object-Centric-Learning-.

CLOSURE: Cross-Channel Closure for Multivariate Time Series Anomaly Detection

Fan Xu, Hao Wu, Zhi Song, Hanbo Huang, Wenzhuo Ma, Nan Wang, Wei Gong, Xibin Zhao

Multivariate time series produced by industrial installations and server clusters are under continuous monitoring, and anomaly detection is the first line of defense before a local fault escalates into a system-wide failure. In the absence of labels, the dominant paradigm trains a reconstruction model on normal data and scores the residual to reach a verdict. Recent work has steadily enriched the expressiveness of the recovery map through Transformers, diffusion models, and cross-scale associations. A residual, however, only certifies that an observation can be recovered; it does not certify that the variables still explain one another as they do under normal operation. A coordinated yet unfamiliar operating transition inflates the residual without breaking any relationship, whereas a sensor drifting away from its peers may leave the residual silent. Methods that fold inter-variable dependencies into the reconstruction objective inherit this ambiguity, because their relational evidence is ultimately supervised by the same recovery loss. We therefore propose CLOSURE, which evaluates recoverability and cross-channel consistency as two normal-data prediction tasks learned in separation. The recoverability task is solved by a diffusion reconstructor conditioned on a discrete memory of normal temporal bases. The consistency task is solved by a relation-closure operator that predicts every channel exclusively from the others, where the target's own trajectory is withheld and sparse signed gates decide which peers are actually used. The two scores are reconciled only through calibration on normal data. Extensive experiments show that CLOSURE consistently outperforms recent reconstruction-, frequency-, and topology-based detectors on public benchmark streams, confirming the value of examining consistency alongside recoverability.

TrustJev: Separating Policy Authority from Untrusted Evidence in LLM-Based Decisions

Zhiwei Xu, Xuyang Liu, Xiaolin Peng, Weixian Deng, Jiabao Gao, Zirui Li, Tian Qiu, Boya Zhou 等 11 位作者

Decision models enable software to select from predefined actions using natural language inputs. However, the external evidence that supplies facts for these decisions may also contain instructions that attempt to override the application's policy. We propose TrustJev, a framework combining protected policy scoring with bounded evidence corrections. A single Transformer backbone computes policy scores and a correction budget from trusted policy and candidates, then bounds evidence corrections by that budget. Paired supervision encourages stable predictions under instruction insertions that preserve task facts and changed preferences when edits change the correct answer. Authority supervision accommodates evidence when the policy alone cannot determine the decision. We evaluate a 0.6B implementation against 14 baselines on three datasets covering authentication, instruction hierarchy, and executable authorization rules. TrustJev achieves the highest mean Balance, the harmonic mean of accuracy on non-attack and attack inputs, exceeding the strongest baseline on each by 0.57-1.05 percentage points. In the authorization benchmark, it correctly answers all 32 attacks per source in a fixed pool for 95.77% of sources, compared with 80.98% for the strongest comparator. TrustJev maintains comparable inference memory and median latency, with additional overhead primarily during training.

Beyond Query Memorization: Large Language Model Routing with Query Decomposition and Historical Matching

Bo Lv, Jingbo Sun Institute of automation, Chinese academy of science, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Jianwei Lv Baidu, Chen Tang, Shaojie Zhang, Nayu Liu Tianjin University, Guoxin Yu Pengcheng Laboratory, Zihao Li University of the Chinese Academy of Sciences 等 12 位作者

Optimizing the trade-off among predictive performance and computational cost is a central focus in the deployment of Large Language Models (LLMs). Current routing methods primarily rely on direct mapping from queries to models based on surface-level features, making them susceptible to the memorization trap and leading to poor generalizability on out-of-distribution (OOD) data. In this paper, we propose DecoR, a novel routing framework that recasts the routing task as a matching process of sifting similar queries from historical logs, effectively mitigating the memorization trap. To enhance matching accuracy, we introduce a query capability deconstruction method that decouples linguistic surface forms from task-intrinsic requirements, directing matching toward capability dimensions to ground decisions in essential task attributes. Furthermore, we develop CodaSet, a comprehensive benchmark for assessing routing generalization, where experimental results demonstrate that DecoR maintains superior accuracy while substantially lowering inference costs across both in-distribution and OOD settings.

Spec-o3: A Tool-Augmented Vision-Language Agent for Rare Celestial Object Candidate Vetting via Automated Spectral Inspection

Minghui Jia, Qichao Zhang, Ali Luo NAOC,CAS, Linjing Li Institute of automation, Chinese academy of science, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Shuo Ye, Hailing Lu, Wen Hou NAOC, Dongbin Zhao Institute of automation, Chinese academy of science, Chinese Academy of Sciences

Due to the limited generalization and interpretability of deep learning classifiers, the final vetting of rare celestial object candidates still relies on manually intensive expert visual inspection, which has become a primary bottleneck as modern spectroscopic surveys continue to scale. To bridge this gap, we propose Spec-o3, a tool-augmented vision-language agent that performs astronomer-aligned spectral inspection via interleaved multimodal chain-of-thought reasoning.Spec-o3 is trained with a two-stage post-training recipe: cold-start supervised fine-tuning on expert inspection trajectories followed by outcome-based reinforcement learning on rare-type verification tasks.Evaluated on five rare-object identification tasks from LAMOST, Spec-o3 establishes a new State-of-the-Art, boosting the macro-F1 score from 28.3 to 76.5 with a 7B parameter base model and outperforming both proprietary VLMs and specialized deep models. Beyond accuracy, Spec-o3 processes spectra at \sim0.2 s per sample on an 8\timesH100 server, a \sim50\times throughput gain over expert manual inspection. The agent also demonstrates strong generalization to unseen inspection tasks across survey shifts (from LAMOST to SDSS/DESI). Expert evaluations further confirm that its reasoning traces are coherent and physically consistent, supporting transparent and trustworthy decision-making.Code, data, and models are available at Project HomePage.

Gemini 1.5: Unlocking multimodal understanding across millions of tokens of context

Gemini Team, Petko Georgiev, Ving Ian Lei, Ryan Burnell, Libin Bai, Anmol Gulati, Garrett Tanzer, Damien Vincent 等 1137 位作者

In this report, we introduce the Gemini 1.5 family of models, representing the next generation of highly compute-efficient multimodal models capable of recalling and reasoning over fine-grained information from millions of tokens of context, including multiple long documents and hours of video and audio. The family includes two new models: (1) an updated Gemini 1.5 Pro, which exceeds the February version on the great majority of capabilities and benchmarks; (2) Gemini 1.5 Flash, a more lightweight variant designed for efficiency with minimal regression in quality. Gemini 1.5 models achieve near-perfect recall on long-context retrieval tasks across modalities, improve the state-of-the-art in long-document QA, long-video QA and long-context ASR, and match or surpass Gemini 1.0 Ultra's state-of-the-art performance across a broad set of benchmarks. Studying the limits of Gemini 1.5's long-context ability, we find continued improvement in next-token prediction and near-perfect retrieval (>99%) up to at least 10M tokens, a generational leap over existing models such as Claude 3.0 (200k) and GPT-4 Turbo (128k). Finally, we highlight real-world use cases, such as Gemini 1.5 collaborating with professionals on completing their tasks achieving 26 to 75% time savings across 10 different job categories, as well as surprising new capabilities of large language models at the frontier; when given a grammar manual for Kalamang, a language with fewer than 200 speakers worldwide, the model learns to translate English to Kalamang at a similar level to a person who learned from the same content.
