ACTIVE:面向双向量查询的基于动态帕累托前沿的统一索引

ACTIVE: A Dynamic Pareto-Frontier-Based Unified Index for Dual-Vector Query

AI 速览:提出一种支持高效构建与更新的动态帕累托前沿索引 ACTIVE,用于双向量近似最近邻查询。

Existing approximate nearest neighbor search (ANNS) methods generally assume that each entity has a single vector. In many real-world applications, however, an entity is associated with more than one vector, and queries may jointly consider two attributes. With different queries assigning different weights to each attribute, Pareto-frontier-based indices provide an effective solution for dual-vector retrieval by connecting to approximate nearest neighbors under all possible query preferences. However, existing Pareto-frontier-based approaches suffer from substantial inefficiencies in both index construction and dynamic updates, limiting their practical applicability. To address these issues, we propose ACTIVE, a dynamic Pareto-frontier-based DVQ index that supports efficient construction and updates while maintaining high retrieval performance under varying query preferences. It employs angle-constrained active-range computation and connectivity-loss-driven adaptive repair strategies to accelerate node insertion and deletion, respectively. Extensive experiments show that, at comparable (or slightly below) search accuracy, ACTIVE improves insertion throughput by $1.20$--$1.43\times$ over DEG, and deletion throughput by $1.64$--$2.06\times$ over neighbor-reconnection-based repair and by $22.64$--$39.51\times$ over reinsertion-based repair.

AI 速览:提出一种以学习者参与为核心的多智能体组织框架,并在 Agentic University 中实现,用可修订的“能力项目”把个人目标、学习活动与分层评估串联起来。

Large language models support personalized tutoring, content generation, and adaptive learning paths. However, capability development requires these resources and interactions to form a coherent learning process that evolves with the learner. A central challenge is to align goals, activities, and assessment while using learning evidence to decide what should follow. We introduce Human-Participatory Multi-Agent Organization and instantiate it in Agentic University (AU). In AU, learners participate as organization members and work with specialized agents to maintain a revisable Capability Program. The program connects personal goals, learning activities across modalities, and layered assessment, while learner feedback and performance guide subsequent support. Our evaluation shows advantages in program organization, assessment design, and revision quality. Users achieved larger mean assessment gains (12.19 versus 5.61 points on a 50-point scale) and reported stronger cognitive support. This work contributes an organizational approach to adaptive learning that makes learner participation a continuing basis for multi-agent coordination. 量子性质检验的统一复杂度框架

A Unified Complexity Framework for Quantum Property Testing

Qisheng Wang

AI 速览:作者提出一个基于函数型 tr(φ(dρ))/d 的统一框架,用于推导量子性质检验的样本与查询复杂度下界,并给出熵估计与谱估计的(近)紧复杂度。

We develop a unified framework for analyzing the complexity of quantum property testing through functionals of the form $\mathcal{L}_φ(ρ) = \operatorname{tr}(φ(dρ))/d$, where $ρ$ is an unknown $d$-dimensional quantum state and $φ$ is a given function. A master theorem is established that derives sample complexity lower bounds for estimating $\mathcal{L}_φ(ρ)$ from properties of $φ$, combining Haar-random moment encoding with moment matching and best polynomial approximation. Corresponding query complexity lower bounds follow from quantum sample-to-query lifting. The framework yields (nearly) tight bounds for a broad class of problems, including entropy estimation (von Neumann, Rényi, and Tsallis), closeness estimation (trace distance and Uhlmann fidelity), spectrum estimation, rank testing (operator rank, Schmidt rank, and matrix product states). In particular, combined with known upper bounds, we show that the sample complexity of von Neumann entropy estimation is \[ Θ\!\left(\frac{d^2}{\varepsilon\log^2(d)\max\{1, \varepsilon\log^2(d)\}} + \frac{\log^2(d)}{\varepsilon^2}\right), \] and the sample complexity of spectrum estimation is \[ Θ\!\left(\frac{d^2}{\varepsilon^2\log^2(d)\max\{1, \varepsilon^2\log^2(d)\}}\right). \] In summary, our results resolve several open problems and establish the optimality of 37 quantum algorithms since 2015, up to constant or polylogarithmic factors.

When Requirements Interact: Scaling Long-Horizon Coding via Interdependent Specifications

Yishuo Cai, Minzheng Wang, Liang Zhao, Linghao Zhang, Lei Li, Shicheng Li, Xu Sun, Fuli Luo

To succeed in real-world long-horizon software development, coding agents must satisfy multi-dimensional task specifications, such as interface compatibility and error handling, and do so without breaking existing dependencies. However, current works lack specification in both quantity and diversity, often emphasizing primary goals while ignoring complex constraints. Synthesizing tasks to bridge this gap presents two challenges: naively adding specifications risks reducing tasks to trivial checklists rather than compelling joint reasoning, and verifying these subtle interactions risks overlooking hidden flaws or rejecting valid alternatives. To address these challenges, we introduce CodeSpecWeave, a framework for synthesizing tasks with rich, interdependent specifications. Grounded in real developer seeds, a synthesis agent iteratively develops both coupled task requirements and executable tests, while a review agent audits solution trajectories from multiple models to guarantee test reliability. Using this pipeline, we construct 4,670 training tasks across 2,865 repositories. Applying Reinforcement learning on these tasks significantly improves performance over the base model on DeepSWE-v1.1, largely outperforming existing baselines. Furthermore, we curate CodeSpecWeave-Bench, a rigorous benchmark comprising 100 tasks and 1,044 specifications, which clearly separates frontier models and reveals significant headroom in handling interdependent engineering constraints.

Humanoid Dodgeball: Learning Fast Dynamic Obstacle Avoidance Motions for Humanoids

Aoqian Zhang, Chunzheng Wang, Haoran Chen, Annan Tang, Cheng Xiang, Fan Shi, Shuzhi Sam Ge

Humanoids have become increasingly agile and capable in real-world environments. To operate safely in dynamic scenarios, they must rapidly evade fast-moving obstacles while maintaining stability and physically feasible whole-body motion. Learning such behaviors remains challenging due to the high-dimensional dynamics of humanoid systems and the need to jointly balance reactive obstacle avoidance, motion naturalness, and control robustness. In this work, we present Humanoid Dodgeball, a reinforcement learning (RL) framework for agile dynamic obstacle avoidance in humanoids. Our method enables highly dynamic whole-body evasive maneuvers against incoming projectiles through threat-aware reward shaping, while multiple direction-specific adversarial motion priors regularize the learned behaviors toward stable and diverse human-like motions. Extensive simulation and hardware experiments demonstrate that the proposed framework substantially improves dynamic obstacle avoidance performance across diverse obstacle speeds and launch distances, while preserving robust and physically plausible humanoid motions.

Event cameras offering high dynamic range and low latency have emerged as disruptive technologies in imaging. Despite growing research on leveraging these benefits for different imaging tasks, a comprehensive study of recently advances and challenges are still lacking. This limits the broader understanding of how to utilize events in universal imaging applications. In this survey, we first introduce a physical model and the characteristics of different event sensors as the foundation. Following this, we highlight the advancement and interaction of image/video enhancement tasks with events. Additionally, we explore advanced tasks, which capture richer light information with events, \eg~light field estimation, multi-view generation, and photometric. Finally, we discuss new challenges and open questions offering a perspective for this rapidly evolving field. Medical AI learns from the answers doctors record, but rarely from how they interpret the evidence to reach them. Here we introduce PathCowork, a framework that turns pathologists' narrated examinations into supervision for visual grounding and procedures that guide diagnostic AI agents. Synchronized gaze, narration and navigation link visual findings to the process of interpreting them. Across 48 sessions from 16 pathologists, the platform captured 1,028 minutes of slide review. Using these data, we trained PathCowork-1T for server deployment and PathCowork-27B for local deployment, with improved visual grounding. Across five organ-specific evaluations, agents combining this grounding with recorded diagnostic procedures achieved primary task scores averaging 17.9 and 24.1 percentage points higher than Claude Code and Codex, respectively, with shorter processing times and lower inference costs. Compared to the state-of-the-art multiple-instance learning AIs, the PathCowork agent-proposed regions achieved higher prostate-grading scores with limited slide labels. PathCowork can also help construct pathology AI benchmarks where questions derived from the recordings identified difficulties in recognizing viewing context and rejecting inapplicable premises. In summary, PathCowork proposes a new paradigm to scale up the data collection and train pathology AI through transparent reasoning from diagnostic sessions, opening a path towards systems that learn directly from routine clinical practice.

WorldFlow: Joint Video and 3D Motion Prediction via Large-Scale Pretraining

Yuhao Lu, Jiongxu Chen, Hexiang Wei, Jiajin Wu, Juelin Li, Mingjian Liang, Fan Yang, Zhuowei Liang 等 12 位作者

Predicting future physical states stands as a central challenge in embodied intelligence. Existing video world models leave 3D dynamics implicit, action-based formulations remain tied to specific robot configurations, and 3D motion prediction models use flow-only supervision, providing a limited learning signal for physical dynamics. To circumvent these limitations, we introduce \method{}, a generative world model that jointly predicts future video and query-based 3D trajectories. By parameterizing 3D motion as continuous displacement tokens aligned with the video grid, a unified Mixture-of-Transformers (MoT) backbone jointly denoises both modalities under a rectified-flow objective. This formulation couples explicit geometric dynamics with visual evolution, effectively unlocking the physical commonsense embedded within pretrained video models. To empirically scale and validate this unified architecture, we train \method{} on a heterogeneous mixture of 1.44 million object-level samples spanning simulated and real-world domains. We further introduce WorldFlowBench, comprising 1,678 evaluation samples from 11 data sources across simulated and real-world interactions, including spatial reasoning tasks. Across all three evaluation sets, WorldFlow achieves the lowest average displacement error (ADE) and final displacement error (FDE) among the evaluated learning-based methods. Notably, on the challenging SpatialCog set, WorldFlow achieves an ADE of 0.060 m, a 54.2\% reduction compared with the strongest external baseline. It also reduces ADE and FDE by 55.9\% and 68.5\%, respectively, compared with its flow-only variant. Project page: https://worldflow-rbs.github.io/.

Seeing and Imagining as One: Unified Video Generation and 4D Perception for Embodied World Modeling

Haitang Feng, Zhuoman Liu, Zhennan Wang, Sheng Wang, Juelin Li, Chengzhi Zhao, Hexiang Wei, Lin Shao

Embodied world models should not only imagine plausible futures, but also perceive the geometric, semantic, and motion structure of the evolving world. We present GenSight, a unified embodied world model that brings future video generation and dense perception into a single pretrained video diffusion transformer. GenSight uses a unified spatiotemporal representation for video, depth, embodiment segmentation, and first-frame-relative 2D flow. Built on a shared DiT backbone, GenSight uses lightweight task modulation to predict all modalities within the same architecture. All tasks are jointly optimized within a unified velocity prediction space. At inference, GenSight supports two complementary modes: multi-step future video generation with aligned dense predictions and single-step dense perception from an observed video. By unifying modality representation, model architecture, and prediction space, GenSight avoids separate modality-specific pipelines and couples appearance, geometry, semantics, and motion in a shared representation. It promotes cross-modal consistency and allows dense perception to benefit from the spatiotemporal priors learned through video generation. Trained on embodied manipulation data spanning multiple robot embodiments and human-hand interactions, GenSight demonstrates strong performance in both video generation and dense 4D perception, highlighting the effectiveness of unifying seeing and imagining for embodied world modeling.

Powering Up Zeroth-Order Training via Subspace Gradient Orthogonalization

Yicheng Lang, Changsheng Wang, Yihua Zhang, Mingyi Hong, Zheng Zhang, Wotao Yin, Sijia Liu

Zeroth-order (ZO) optimization provides a gradient-free alternative to first-order (FO) methods by estimating gradients via finite differences of function evaluations, and has recently emerged as a memory-efficient paradigm for fine-tuning large-scale models by avoiding backpropagation. However, ZO optimization has a fundamental tension between accuracy and query efficiency. In this work, we show that ZO optimization can be substantially improved by unifying two complementary principles: (i) a projection-based subspace view that reduces gradient estimation variance by exploiting the intrinsic low-rank structure of model updates, and (ii) Muon-style spectral optimization that applies gradient orthogonalization to extract informative spectral structure from noisy ZO gradients. These findings form a unified framework of subspace gradient orthogonalization, which we instantiate in a new method, ZO-Muon, admitting a natural interpretation as a low-rank Muon optimizer in the ZO setting. Extensive experiments on large language models (LLMs) and vision transformers (ViTs) demonstrate that ZO-Muon significantly accelerates convergence and achieves a win-win improvement in accuracy and query/runtime efficiency. Notably, compared to the popular MeZO baseline, ZO-Muon requires only 24.7% of the queries to reach the same SST-2 performance for LLM fine-tuning, and improves accuracy by 25.1% on ViT-L fine-tuning on CIFAR-100.

Efficient Group-Penalty k-means for Text Clustering with Noisy LLM-Generated Constraints

Feiteng Nie, Yuan Sun, Shengkun Zhu, Sheng Wang, Zhiyong Peng

k-means provides a simple and efficient foundation for text clustering, but embedding alone can miss task-specific semantic boundaries. Must-link (ML) and cannot-link (CL) constraints can correct such errors, yet conventional constrained clustering assumes that these relations are already supplied. LLMs can generate them without task-specific labels, but exhaustive querying is costly and their judgments can be incorrect. We present GPKmeans, an efficient Group-Penalty k-means method for text clustering with noisy LLM-generated constraints. GPKmeans uses LLM as an offline local pairwise annotator, querying selected anchor-candidate pairs for sparse ML links and constructing set-valued CL evidence without all-pairs queries. It converts connected components of the ML-link graph and the generated CL sets into groups with normalized, bounded soft penalties, limiting each group's influence independently of its size. Cached coordinate descent is proposed to efficiently solve the constraints clustering problem. We prove finite-step convergence and derive deterministic and probabilistic oracle-referenced bounds that relate objective distortion to the penalty coefficients and to the group-level error probabilities of the generated constraints. Across nine datasets, GPKmeans uses fewer LLM calls and yields more accurate constraints. It achieves the best average ACC, NMI, and ARI while running approximately 30 times faster than state-of-the-art constrained clustering methods.

A Survey on Open Dataset Search in the LLM Era: Retrospectives and Perspectives

Pengyue Li, Sheng Wang, Hua Dai, Zhiyu Chen, Zhifeng Bao, Brian D. Davison

High-quality datasets are typically required for accomplishing data-driven tasks, such as training medical diagnosis models, predicting real-time traffic conditions, or conducting experiments to validate research hypotheses. Consequently, open dataset search, which aims to ensure the efficient and accurate fulfillment of users' dataset requirements, has emerged as a critical research challenge and has attracted widespread interest. Recent studies have made notable progress in enhancing the flexibility and intelligence of open dataset search, and large language models (LLMs) have demonstrated strong potential in addressing long-standing challenges in this area. Therefore, a systematic and comprehensive review of the open dataset search problem is essential, detailing the current state of research and exploring future directions. In this survey, we focus on recent advances in open dataset search beyond traditional approaches that rely on metadata and keywords. From the perspective of dataset modalities, we place particular emphasis on example-based dataset search, advanced similarity measurement techniques based on dataset content, and efficient search acceleration techniques. In addition, we emphasize the mutually beneficial relationship between LLMs and open dataset search. On the one hand, LLMs help address complex challenges in query understanding, semantic modeling, and interactive guidance within open dataset search. In turn, advances in dataset search can support LLMs by enabling more effective integration into retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) frameworks and data selection processes, thereby enhancing downstream task performance. Finally, we summarize open research problems and outline promising directions for future work. This work aims to offer a structured reference for researchers and practitioners in the field of open dataset search.

SparseTokenGS: Gaussian-based Sparse-View CBCT Reconstruction via Reusable Token Pool

Zihan Deng, Zhenzhen Gong, Yujie Liu, Jiaxin Gong, Dingkun Liu, Kexian Xie, Yixing Huang, Peng Jin 等 13 位作者

Sparse-view cone-beam computed tomography is widely used for fast, low-dose volumetric imaging and lesion localization in dentistry and image-guided interventions, but it introduces severe artifacts. Feed-forward Gaussian methods transfer the reconstruction cost to training and decode each coordinate from projection-aligned features and neighboring anchors. However, information from the whole scan is written only when the field is constructed and cannot be retrieved during coordinate decoding, leaving the volume inconsistent within the scan. This is a common limitation of such methods: once the field is fixed, decoding uses only local features and reconstruction quality drops substantially. We propose SparseTokenGS, a Gaussian-based method for sparse-view cone-beam computed tomography reconstruction via a reusable token pool. Anchor Token Fusion and Point-Token Attention query this shared pool at the anchors and at the query coordinates, respectively. The local Gaussian prior is retained, and the volume is reconstructed in one forward pass, without per-scan optimization or a projection-domain loss. On three public chest and dental datasets, SparseTokenGS achieves the highest reconstruction performance among the compared methods. On clinical dental scans, reconstruction from only six projections reaches 29.51 decibels in peak signal-to-noise ratio and a structural similarity of 0.842 against the full-view reference, and off-the-shelf tooth-and-pulp segmentation keeps these structures separable for root-canal localization. Experiments on volcanic rock and chicken show performance after same-object adaptation. A reusable token pool gives feed-forward reconstruction a mechanism that keeps scan-wide context available through decoding and can benefit future rapid clinical lesion localization and analysis. The code is available at: https://github.com/FrankDengAI/SparseTokenGS.

Reasoning from Traces: Divergence-Guided Agentic Repair of WebAssembly Discrepancies

Liyan Huang, Kaicheng Wang, Amy Zhang, Weihang Wang

WebAssembly (Wasm) promises seamless reuse of C/C++ codebases as portable, efficient, sandboxed binaries for execution on the Web. In practice, however, this promise often falls short: recent studies show that cross-compiling C/C++ source to Wasm and native binaries frequently produces runtime discrepancies due to differences in library implementation and compiler bugs. Since the root causes are platform-level and hidden beneath the source code, even state-of-the-art LLM-based coding agents can struggle to diagnose and repair these discrepancies. In this paper, we present WasmMend, the first system for automatically repairing Native-Wasm functional discrepancies. WasmMend transforms open-ended debugging into a two-stage process. First, a novel differential trace analysis approach localizes the function where Wasm and native executions first diverge. Second, guided by this localization, a multi-agent system coordinates separate agents to interpret platform-specific behavior and synthesizes patch plans. Experiments on discrepancies from real-world C/C++ projects show that, across five backbone models, WasmMend achieves a fix rate of up to 84.8%, with average gains of at least 37.2 percentage points over the evaluated open-source coding agent baselines, while maintaining comparable cost.

LLM-PowerTrace: A Dataset of Time-Resolved GPU Power Traces for AI Compute

Jiansheng Wang, Jaskeerat Singh, Haochen Xu, Xinyi Li, Mingyuan Yan, Shaohui Liu, Yuzhuo Li, Yize Chen 等 9 位作者

AI compute is becoming large and fast-changing electrical loads. Its impacts on data center infrastructure and power grids depend not only on total energy consumption, but also on how their power draw moves over sub-second to minute timescales, including peaks, ramps, and synchronized fluctuations across accelerators. Existing energy benchmarks for large language models (LLMs) report aggregate quantities such as joules per token and rarely release the underlying time-series measurements, leaving these power dynamics poorly characterized and difficult to model. We introduce LLM-PowerTrace, an open dataset of time-resolved, per-GPU power traces for LLM fine-tuning and inference, sampled every 100\,ms on varying NVIDIA platforms paired with complete workload and system metadata. For fine-tuning, LLM-PowerTrace profiles open model families spanning a wide range of model sizes and fine-tuning methods, together with controlled sweeps over batch size, sequence length, precision, parallelism, and checkpointing. For inference, it covers variations in concurrency, GPU frequency, KV-cache and weight quantization, prompt and output lengths, and request-arrival patterns. LLM-PowerTrace profiles a set of open model families across a wide range of model sizes, and controlled sweeps over batch size, sequence length, precision, parallelism, and checkpointing for fine-tuning, and it sweeps concurrency, GPU frequency, KV cache and weight quantization, prompt and output lengths, and request arrival patterns for inference. Built upon power traces, we define power-grid-facing metrics as well as AI-compute power\&energy scaling law for extrapolating beyond the measured settings. Together, LLM-PowerTrace provides a dataset foundation for modeling, forecasting, and managing the fast-changing electrical behavior of AI compute.

SimRetract: Zero-Shot Sim-to-Real Robotic Assistance for Retractor Take-Over in Open Surgery

Xucheng Wang, Zhizhou Yang, Sung Eun Kim, Romain Hardy, Michael P. Sampson, Aakash Reddy, Ankit Pal, Xiaoman Zhang 等 10 位作者

We demonstrate the first zero-shot sim-to-real transfer for a surgeon-robot collaboration task in open surgery: retractor take-over. A robot arm takes a retractor from the surgeon's hand and preserves retraction at handoff, using a policy trained only on simulated demonstrations, without human demonstrations or real-world fine-tuning. Imitation learning from real demonstrations is limited by collection and labeling costs, and by performance degradation when the environment changes. Our framework, SimRetract, generates simulated demonstrations designed for transfer: the policy observes masked instrument images and grasp geometry, learns to recover from off-nominal states, and acts with margin for execution drift. Deployed zero-shot, it grasps the retractor in 90% of 50 surgeon-defined phantom presentations and preserves retraction at handoff in 78%. Results on unseen retractors suggest potential for generalization to instruments with similar grasp geometry. Across ten policy configurations and 1,200 simulated and real trials, we localize the sim-to-real gap to components: in simulation, grasp rates across ablations span 80-96%, while on the real robot removing the instrument mask alone drops performance to 22% grasped and 12% held. Transfer-oriented design thus makes zero-shot sim-to-real transfer feasible for a surgical assistance task without human demonstrations. Code is available here: https://anonymous.4open.science/r/simretract-58D2.

Dual Exam: Controlled Evaluation of Multimodal Agents and World Models

Zhefan Rao, Meng Chu, Xuan Billy Zhang, Jingfan Chen, Guohao Cai, Runyi Li, Shiyi Du, Xu Huang 等 92 位作者

World Models (WMs) can support Multimodal Agents (MAs) through simulated experience, while Agent trajectories can inform World Model refinement. Evaluating this interaction requires separate evidence about action selection and state evolution. We introduce Dual Exam, which tests Agents under fixed environment response mechanisms and World Models under fixed action interventions across physical, digital, social, and scientific domains. The Agent track compares 10 configurations on 1,088 items in 15 reporting categories. The World Model track contains 400 cases across eight scenarios; 15 configurations have full coverage and one covers six scenarios. GPT 6 Astra leads the case-weighted Agent Index at 31.3, and GPT-Image-2 leads the full-coverage WM Overall at 21.7. These scores use different tasks and metrics and are not directly comparable. A 150-case pilot of one coupled pairing records zero task successes and motivates component-level diagnosis. Results reveal uneven task performance and failures to preserve task-relevant state. Their value for predicting coupled success or sustained reciprocal learning remains to be established.

We introduce Nemotron 3.5 Super and Nemotron 3.5 Lightning, open and efficient Mixture-of-Experts Hybrid Mamba-Transformer models designed for reasoning, long-context understanding, and agentic workloads. Super is a 120B-parameter, 12B-active multimodal model, while Lightning is a smaller 30B-parameter, 3B-active text model; both designed for efficient deployment. Both models combine large-scale distillation, long-context training, and native speculative decoding, while Super further incorporates Indic continued pretraining and agentic software-engineering mid-training. We develop a comprehensive post-training pipeline spanning supervised fine-tuning and reinforcement learning (RLVR and RLHF), complemented in Super by specialized teacher training and multi- teacher on-policy distillation (MOPD). This transforms Super from a text-only base model into a multimodal agent capable of reasoning over text, images, video, and interactive tool environments. We further explore test-time scaling through parallel agent execution and self-verification. Across training and deployment, we jointly optimize capability and efficiency. Indic continued pretraining improves Indian-language benchmarks by up to 9.82 percentage points, while agentic mid-training strengthens software-engineering capabilities and robustness across agent harnesses. The post-trained Super model achieves 51.78% on SWE-bench Pro, surpassing Nemotron 3 Ultra despite using approximately 4.6x fewer active parameters. Post-training MTP boosting improves speculative- decoding acceptance length by up to 21.8% under probabilistic draft sampling, while NVFP4 quantization achieves 99.62% median accuracy recovery relative to BF16. Inference optimizations enable up to 4,856 output tokens/s/GPU on GB200 while sustaining at least 50 tokens/s/user.

Self-Labeled Preference Transfer for Steerable Robot Manipulation

Kaiwen Hong, Shaoting Peng, Xiangyu Zeng, Pengcheng Wang, Boyuan Tian, Haonan Chen, Yifan Zhu, Yixiao Wang 等 9 位作者

Vision-language-action (VLA) policies can learn to follow execution preferences, such as where to grasp an object or how to move around an obstacle, from demonstrations annotated with preference labels. Providing these annotations for every new task, however, is costly. We study whether learned preference control can transfer to new tasks whose demonstrations contain the desired behaviors but lack preference annotations. We find that a policy trained with preference annotations can follow preferences on a new task before adaptation but achieves limited task success. Fine-tuning on target demonstrations without these annotations improves task success while weakening preference control. Motivated by this finding, we introduce Self-Labeled Preference Transfer (SPT). SPT jointly trains a shared vision-language backbone for preference-conditioned action prediction and preference recognition on annotated source demonstrations. It then freezes the recognizer to preserve its cross-task preference recognition capability and uses it to self-label target demonstrations for policy fine-tuning. Across five types of execution preferences in simulation, the recognizer achieves 96.4% accuracy, and SPT reaches 84.8% preference following and 89.2% task success, compared with 59.4% and 88.0% for naive finetuning. We further extend to multiple preferences, achieving 93.8% preference following compared with 42.5% of baselines. In real-world experiments, SPT increases preference following from 52.5% to 92.5% relative to naive finetuning across two task transfers. These results show that SPT can support preference adaptation across tasks and objects while maintaining success, without additional manual preference annotations.

From individual trees to forest stands, three-dimensional structure shapes carbon, water, and energy flows, habitat conditions, and resource availability. Yet tree and forest structural attributes remain difficult to assess consistently across space and time. Close-range LiDAR (light detection and ranging) records detailed 3D structure from branches and trees to forest plots, including trees outside forests. However, broader reuse is constrained when data, acquisition context, processing, computation, and access conditions are maintained separately. We present 3Dtrees.earth, an operational community research infrastructure that brings close-range LiDAR datasets, analysis tools, and computing resources together while linking original observations to their metadata and processing outputs. As of 23 October 2026, the platform comprised 2,760 datasets, including 2,481 publicly visible datasets. These point cloud datasets span 46 countries on all six inhabited continents and include terrestrial, mobile, and uncrewed aerial laser scanning. Users can contribute and discover datasets, run standardized processing workflows on shared computing infrastructure, inspect point clouds and model predictions in the browser, and access data and processing outputs together with citation information. Workflows combine rule-based and machine-learning methods, with tools updated as methods advance. Outputs include raster products, individual-tree and semantic segmentation, and tree- and stand-level metrics. Original point clouds and processing records are retained, enabling reprocessing with improved tools while preserving provenance. With broader coverage, curation, and validation, this shared resource could extend individual surveys into a basis for model evaluation and benchmarking, cross-site synthesis, calibration and validation of larger-scale Earth observation products, and macroecological analysis.

PerceptRL: Making Visual Perception Rewardable in MLLMs from Answers to Interactions

Tongkun Guan, Zhibo Yang, Mingkun Yang, Haocheng Wang, Wei Shen, Xiaokang Yang

Fine-grained visual perception remains a bottleneck during post-training of multimodal large language models (MLLMs), as perceptual errors can constrain gains from reasoning-focused optimization. Although image-caption pre-training improves perception, its influence can weaken as subsequent stages change data mixtures and objectives. Continuing caption supervision during post-training is challenging because subjective, information-dense descriptions complicate verifiable reward design. We present PerceptRL, which strengthens perception at two complementary levels. Perception RL uses a multi-agent pipeline to extract verified errors from dense image captions and convert the corresponding visual facts into QA pairs with fixed answer labels and rule-based rewards. Chain QA links correlated errors, while multiple-choice QA combines unrelated errors. A specialized route targets high-error domains with tailored verification, and a domain-agnostic general route covers errors beyond these domains. Perception Agentic RL addresses fine-grained and dense cases unresolved by single-turn Perception RL through multi-turn inspection with visual tools. We observe coordinate drift even in models trained to use tools, where incorrect crops or annotations distort evidence and propagate errors. Coordinate Injection corrects spatial operations in cold-start trajectories, while a grounding-aware process reward supervises intermediate spatial fidelity alongside final-answer correctness. Training proceeds through shared cold-start SFT, single-turn Perception RL, and multi-turn Perception Agentic RL. Across seven benchmarks under a shared tool-use protocol, PerceptRL achieves 71.6% average accuracy, surpassing the base model with the same tools and the strongest evaluated frontier VLM by 15.7 and 5.2 percentage points, respectively.

OctWorld: Long-Range World-Consistent Video Generation with Octree-Based 3D Mapping

Zelong Lv, Sicheng Xu, Jianfeng Xiang, Ruicheng Wang, Yue Dong, Yu Deng, Guangzhong Sun, Jiaolong Yang

We present OctWorld, a video diffusion framework with persistent 3D memory for generating explorable, world-consistent, and high-fidelity visual scenes. Given a single image, OctWorld performs stable autoregressive world generation along user-specified camera trajectories. We focus on long-range generation, characterized by extended camera paths and wide viewpoint coverage, where preserving spatial consistency is particularly challenging when previously generated regions are revisited. To address this problem, we introduce OctMap, an extensible and spatially adaptive 3D memory that progressively fuses generated visual observations and their corresponding depth maps into a global representation. OctMap employs TSDF fusion within a dynamic sparse octree whose spatial resolution adapts to image evidence. This design preserves geometric and appearance details across diverse scene scales while maintaining low memory overhead. Experiments demonstrate that OctWorld generates long-range, spatially consistent videos and outperforms prior methods on both existing benchmarks and challenging long-range generation settings. OctMap also provides clear advantages over point-based caches and fixed-resolution TSDF volumes. Project page: https://github.com/microsoft/OctWorld

SeeNav-Agent: Enhancing Vision-Language Navigation with Visual Prompt and Step-Level Policy Optimization

Zhengcheng Wang, Zichuan Lin, Yijun Yang, Haobo Fu, Deheng Ye

Existing Vision-Language Navigation (VLN) agents based on Large Vision-Language Models (LVLMs) often suffer from errors of perception, reasoning, and planning, which significantly hinder their navigation performance. To address these limitations, a novel VLN agent framework, named SeeNav-Agent, is proposed. First, to reduce hallucinations of the visual module of the VLN agent, a dual-view Visual Prompt (VP) technique is introduced, which can also improve the agent's understanding of current spatial states. Subsequently, a novel step-level Reinforcement Fine-Tuning (RFT) method, Step Reward Group Policy Optimization (SRGPO), is designed for post-training. In SRGPO, we first define verifiable process rewards for navigation, and then perform efficient step-level advantage estimation by randomly grouping navigation steps. SRGPO provides dense reward signals for the RFT of the VLN agent and enhances its planning capability. Experiments on both the EmbodiedBench Navigation (Embench-Nav) and VLN-CE validate the effectiveness of the proposed method. By introducing the zero-shot VP module, the GPT-4.1 achieves a navigation success rate of 86.7%, surpassing the current best LVLM by approximately 20 percentage points (pp) on Embench-Nav and achieves an 11.1 pp improvement on VLN-CE compared to the base model. With VP+SRGPO, the Qwen2.5-VL-3B model reaches a navigation success rate of 72.3%, outperforming the best existing LVLM model by 5.6 pp on Embench-Nav and achieves 8.9 pp improvement on VLN-CE compared to the baseline method. Moreover, compared to GRPO and GiGPO, the proposed SRGPO demonstrates significant improvements in training stability, convergence efficiency, and generalization capability.

Hy-Nomas: Towards Free-form Interactive World Generation

Qiaoling Chen, Jiaxiang Cheng, Xueqing Deng, Tiankai Hang, Ji Hou, Jiaqi Li, Yifan Liu, Tao Lu 等 38 位作者

Interactive world generation requires models to follow successive commands while preserving relevant history and action consequences. We present Hy-Nomas, a video world model with an 8B diffusion backbone that supports free-form text instructions and continuous camera control across multiple interaction turns. It generates variable-length segments conditioned on current inputs and cached history. Our central design aligns structured video captions with action-aware causal attention: descriptive context remains accessible across segments, while action instructions are restricted to their intended temporal windows. A vision-language Prompt Enhancer (PE) translates user requests and multimodal interaction histories into structured conditions for the next segment. A multi-stage curriculum progressively introduces causal generation, text interaction, camera control, and training on model-generated histories, followed by diffusion distillation. In human evaluation, Hy-Nomas shows superior performance over existing world models. We release model weights, code and benchmarks, together with a lightweight adaptation workflow, to support reproducible research on interactive world generation.

Cross-Day Compatibility of Daily Item Embeddings: An Empirical Study of Alignment, Scale Management, and CTR Adaptation

Yicheng Wang

Daily item co-occurrence embeddings are paired with next-day behavior without future-behavior leakage. Multi-day click-through rate (CTR) training therefore mixes versions whose directions and norms may differ for the same item. We compare Word2Vec and an item-graph XSimGCL adaptation across initialization, inheritance, post-processing, training constraints, and downstream augmentation. The inventory contains 48 configurations, including 32 common-protocol CTR evaluations. Observed metrics are reported as relative percentage changes from the corresponding Word2Vec baseline (0%), with raw values and exact dataset sizes withheld. Three findings emerge. First, multiple upstream interventions improve compatibility and CTR. ID-init and orthogonal alignment increase cosine by 51.2% and 93.4%, and GAUC by 2.2% and 2.6%, relative to ordinary Word2Vec. Retrieval and geometry remain insufficient downstream surrogates. Second, warm starts perform strongly but accumulate scale. The day-matched norm increase over Word2Vec reaches 102.5% after eight days; daily global rescaling limits it to 8.2% and attains the highest observed GAUC increase, 4.0%. Third, CTR learning through a dimensionality-reducing encoder further adapts to residual drift. Against dimension-matched random-projection, SVD, and untrained-network controls, trained encoders attain the highest cross-day cosine for four of six upstream methods. The other two rank third and second in train-to-test cosine. These industrial results support complementary roles for upstream stabilization, inherited-scale management, and downstream task learning.

When Connectivity Misleads: Guiding Agentic Search with Contrastive Evidence Paths

Junchen Li, Liang Xu, Rongzheng Wang, Qizhi Chen, Junhao Wen, Shuang Liang

Search agents can use cross-document graphs to discover sources through multi-hop connections and choose subsequent actions based on candidate rankings and relationships within a limited observation window. However, documents may rank highly because their numerous connections make them easier to reach, without necessarily providing more valuable evidence. Graph diffusion methods such as Personalized PageRank (PPR) aggregate propagation contributions from multiple sources, allowing highly connected distractor nodes to crowd the observation window. Flat node scores also obscure cross-document evidence trails, limiting continued exploration. We propose Contrastive Evidence Paths (CEP), which scores candidates by their strongest individual paths on a query-conditioned document graph and calibrates these scores against the same graph's background visitation distribution to mitigate structural bias. CEP ranks candidates by the calibrated scores and retains the corresponding source paths. Building on CEP, we develop Structured Corpus Interaction (SCI), which organizes candidates and their connecting paths into a structured Map, enabling agents to verify source documents and pursue missing information through expansion from anchor documents. Experiments on BrowseComp-Plus and TREC-COVID show that SCI achieves state-of-the-art answer accuracy and nDCG@10 with the lowest generation cost. Compared with the strongest baselines by task performance, maximum reductions in tool calls and total generation costs exceed 50% and 40%, respectively. Further analysis confirms that SCI with CEP suppresses ranking inflation induced by structural connections and improves gold recall and exploration efficiency.

The Trinity:Capability-Driven Recursive Self-Improvement for Multimodal Agents

Weidong Tang, Ruiheng Wang, Jingxuan Zhang, Hexin Wang, Haoyuan Chen, Zhengfeiyang Zhang, Yixing Ma, Zichen Jiang 等 20 位作者

Multimodal intelligence can be viewed as human-guided co-evolution between worlds and agents through interaction. However, scaling this process faces two bottlenecks: constructing heterogeneous, verifiable environments is costly, and manual Harness iteration cannot keep pace with growing task diversity and complexity. A key insight is that tasks with different modalities and surface forms can share the same underlying capability requirements. We therefore introduce The Trinity, a recursive self-improvement framework coupling world generation with Harness evolution through three roles: Creator, Explorer, and Evolver. Drawing on verified execution trajectories, Evolver shifts the basis of task organization from surface categories to shared requirements, reorganizing the original task tree into a hierarchical capability tree. We introduce Capability-Driven Real2Sim2Real: for heterogeneous tasks at the same node, Creator abstracts their common requirements into simplified, verifiable simulated worlds for capability learning, while evaluation on original tasks measures transfer. Along this capability tree, Explorer progressively evolves reusable capability modules through selective inheritance, forming a Harness tree whose validated updates accumulate across iterations within a fixed topology. The resulting Harnesses specialize in different capabilities, motivating a Capability-Aware Harness Router that uses public task information to select compatible module configurations from the tree. Our evolved Harnesses improve mean performance by 34 points across 28 training benchmarks and 26 points across 18 unseen benchmarks, including two real-world embodied tasks.

HoloBoxing: A Simple Recipe for Humanoid Boxing with 7 Minutes of Single-GPU Training

Xihan Ma, Bo Zhang, Boxiong Li, Yuhan Bao, Ziyue Liu, Yucheng Wang

HoloBoxing presents a simple recipe for learning humanoid boxing by building on a pretrained whole-body controller. The recipe separates reusable motor skills from task decisions: a compact planner requests future body-point targets, while the frozen controller handles joint-level execution. A learned decoder maps 32-dimensional actions to structured target windows, and measured-state imitation initializes the planner before reinforcement learning. Task learning then refines interaction behavior while reusing the decoder and controller, avoiding the need to relearn whole-body control. This combination keeps task optimization focused on a compact upper policy and supplies an initial behavior before reward-driven exploration. Starting from that available controller, the recipe accounts for about seven minutes of additional training, including reused representation fitting and a single-GPU task run. This excludes controller pretraining, data preparation, evaluation, and search. Simulated boxing experiments and component controls evaluate the resulting behavior and the roles of imitation initialization and the target representation.

A Cross-Modal Prompt Injection Attack against Large Vision-Language Models with Image-Only Perturbation

Hao Yang, Zhuo Ma, Yang Liu, Yilong Yang, Guancheng Wang, JianFeng Ma

Large vision-language models (LVLMs) have emerged as a powerful paradigm for multimodal intelligence, but their growing deployment also expands the attack surface of prompt injection. Despite this growing concern, existing attacks still suffer from a critical limitation: the injected prompt for one modality only steers the model's interpretation of that singular input. Alternatively, these attacks remain multimodal but fail to achieve cross-modal prompt perturbation. To bridge this gap, we introduce a novel cross-modal prompt injection attack CrossMPI, which can steer the model's interpretation of both textual and visual inputs via image-only prompt injection. Our design is underpinned by the following key breakthroughs. First, we turn the focus of the injected prompt perturbation optimization from the visual embedding space (typically with only $10^5$ parameters) to the model hidden state space (for multimodal information integration and with $10^7$ parameters). Then, two strategies are adopted to mitigate the optimization challenges posed by the larger parameter space. To constrain the optimized model parameter space, we introduce a layer selection strategy that identifies the layers most critical to multimodal integration. Interestingly, deviating from the past experience, our analysis reveals that the optimal layers for LVLM prompt perturbation reside in the middle of the model rather than the last. To constrain the image perturbation space, we propose a new distance-decremental perturbation budget assignment strategy that allocates budgets decrementally as the pixel distance to semantic-critical regions increases. Extensive experiments across multiple LVLMs and datasets show that our method significantly outperforms baseline approaches.
