Self-Supervised Doppler-Guided RF Odometry

Kunzhe Song, Jialuo Du, Jingkai Lin, Huacheng Zeng

Radio-frequency (RF) sensing enables robot ego-motion estimation in darkness, smoke, and fog, yet RF odometry remains challenging because multipath and moving reflectors make cross-frame matching highly ambiguous. Existing methods often rely on auxiliary inertial sensors or ground-truth pose supervision. We present RFWalk, a self-supervised, RF-only odometry framework that models dense correspondences across range-azimuth frames as random walks on a space-time graph and learns them from unlabeled sequences through temporal cycle consistency. To rule out correspondences that are cycle-consistent but physically implausible, we introduce a Doppler consistency loss that constrains correspondence-induced motion using radial velocity measured by the RF sensor itself. Ego-motion is then recovered through robust $\mathrm{SE}(2)$ registration that suppresses uncertain correspondences and those arising from independently moving objects. Without pose labels or auxiliary sensors, RFWalk remains competitive with supervised baselines in static scenes and reduces absolute trajectory error by 58% in dynamic scenes with moving pedestrians.

Stable but Wrong: When Learning Stabilizes Away from the Truth

Zhipeng Zhang, Fujie Ren, Kai Li, Bo Qiu

Stable training is often treated as evidence that learning is succeeding, but stability characterizes optimization behavior rather than correctness relative to an external objective. We study what happens when the signal being optimized remains persistently biased. We define Stable but Wrong (SBW) as a learning state in which optimization remains active or stabilizes while the learned outcome stays systematically displaced from an independently defined objective. A minimal theoretical model shows that persistent systematic bias can separate a stable convergence point from the true objective even under standard conditions for stable convergence. We then introduce static and dynamic bias in reinforcement learning, supervised learning, and continual fine-tuning of large language models. Across these settings, optimization of the current learning signal continues or stabilizes while correctness relative to the external objective declines or remains displaced. Finally, two controlled challenge-correction experiments with external ground truth test whether a prespecified error can be exposed and changed. In controlled scientific discovery and CIFAR-10, targeted evidence corrects or reduces established errors more effectively than equal-budget general evidence, with no evident harm to paired correct states under the tested protocols. These experiments do not provide a general method for automatically discovering unknown errors. Overall, SBW identifies a basic limit of convergence and other internal optimization metrics as evidence of correctness in systems that learn through persistent bias and feedback.

Where Should the Evaluation Budget Go in LLM-Driven Agent Scaffold Evolution?

Sichun Luo, Yi Huang, Mukai Li, Haochen Luo, Guanzhi Deng, Haibo Wang, Jian Xu, Zefa Hu 等 10 位作者

Large language model (LLM)-driven agent scaffold evolution improves agent workflows through iterative candidate generation and evaluation. Evaluation both guides subsequent search and determines the final scaffold, but evaluating every candidate on the full task set incurs substantial execution costs. We investigate how evaluation budgets can be allocated across these two roles. Our experiments show that sparse feedback can sustain productive evolution, while additional targeted evaluation improves final selection. Replay analyses further show that shared informative items and a common scoring reference support comparisons among closely matched candidates. Motivated by these findings, we propose \method, an evaluation allocation framework that combines sparse search-time feedback with targeted final confirmation. A short fully evaluated warm-up establishes a shared informative core and calibrates a response model whose item parameters remain fixed during search. After search, \method refits the model and applies paired successive halving, reusing accumulated observations and executing only missing evaluations. Across four benchmarks and two evolution frameworks, \method achieves higher mean performance than full evaluation in most settings while using approximately half as many evaluation cells.

How Much Can Best-of-N Help a World Action Model? Measuring Selectable Headroom and Realizing It in Closed Loop

Haojia Gao, Yue Cao, Yumin Liu, Haohua Que, Mingkai Liu, Guanqiu Guo, Zhuo Zou, Bokui Chen 等 9 位作者

World action models (WAMs) predict the visual consequences of the actions they generate, which makes test-time selection a natural way to improve a fixed policy: imagine the futures of candidate actions and execute the best one. The benefit of selection is bounded by the selectable headroom, how much better the best candidate truly is, but the standard estimate, which executes each candidate once and keeps the best outcome, conflates candidate quality with the randomness of everything that follows. We introduce a denoised counterfactual protocol, based on bitwise-reproducible branching, repeated continuations, held-out oracles, and common random numbers, that measures the headroom a selector can realize, and use its measurements to build a fail-gated selector. Across four WAMs, two benchmarks, over 100,000 branched rollouts, and pre-registered tests, we find that (i) the standard estimate overstates the selectable headroom of native samples: bounds from 17 continuations per candidate place its selectable share between 24% and 66% for three WAMs; (ii) structured action perturbations create up to 16 points of selectable headroom; and (iii) in both WAMs with action-conditioned imagination, imagined futures carry candidate-outcome information with no detectable loss relative to real futures, information that the value head of Cosmos Policy leaves unused. Deviating from the policy chunk only when a readout of the WAM predicts failure, the selector raises closed-loop task success from 76.9% to 81.6% on held-out episodes of training tasks, with the largest gain where the policy fails most often, and from 62.6% to 69.8% on unseen tasks.

Zooming without Zooming v2: From Seeing Details to Connecting Evidence for Generalizable Multimodal Perception

Lai Wei, Yatai Li, Liangbo He, Jun Lan, Renjie Gu, Linhan Cao, Junkai Lin, Huijia Zhu 等 13 位作者

Multimodal perception forms the foundation of multimodal intelligence. In particular, spatial perception and multimodal long-context understanding are two pivotal tasks that underpin embodied AI and multimodal agents. However, synthesizing targeted, high-quality training data for these tasks remains difficult and costly. Our key insight is that these tasks share an underlying capability, which we call connecting evidence: identifying relevant visual facts, binding them to the correct entities, recovering their relations, and composing them into an answer. Crucially, targeted training data are far easier to synthesize for this capability than for these tasks themselves. To strengthen this capability, we propose EvidenceConnect, an easy-to-implement data synthesis framework that uses zoomed views of related regions within a single image to generate questions requiring comparison, aggregation, or chaining of visual evidence. To ensure quality, a reference answer is retained only when independent VLMs agree on it, and region-ablation tests discard questions whose answer survives the removal of selected regions. We then train base VLMs on the resulting data with RLVR, obtaining Zooming without Zooming v2 (ZwZ2). Although the synthesized data are not tailored to any downstream benchmark, ZwZ2 improves fine-grained and spatial perception, with further gains on embodied spatial reasoning, multimodal long-context understanding, multimodal agent tasks, and general visual reasoning. These results establish EvidenceConnect as an effective framework for supervising evidence connection and suggest that strengthening this shared capability leads to more generalizable multimodal perception.

Integrated electro-optic attention nonlinearities for transformers

Luis Mickeler, Kai Lion, Alfonso Nardi, Jost Kellner, Pierre Didier, Bhavin J. Shastri, Niao He, Rachel Grange

Transformers achieve state-of-the-art performance in language processing and computer vision. Their computation increasingly depends on hardware that can keep pace not only with large matrix multiplications, but also with nonlinear operations like Softmax within the core attention mechanism. On digital accelerators, Softmax accounts for only a small fraction of total operations, yet it can disproportionately impact overall inference latency. Here, we use thin-film lithium niobate Mach-Zehnder modulators (MZM) as analog computing elements for low-latency Transformer attention. Our high-speed nonlinearities based on the intrinsic sinusoidal MZM response achieve performance close to digital baselines in Vision Transformers and GPT-2, even under 4-bit input and output quantization. We experimentally characterize the electro-optic response at symbol rates up to 10 GBaud and assess model robustness under corresponding noise conditions. Accounting for the full signal chain, our analysis indicates more than an order of magnitude lower latency relative to previous custom electronic and photonic Softmax implementations. These results establish analog electro-optic devices as nonlinear function units well suited for integration into emerging co-packaged electronic-photonic hardware, offering a path toward high-speed Transformer inference.

Hy-Nomas: Towards Free-form Interactive World Generation

Qiaoling Chen, Jiaxiang Cheng, Xueqing Deng, Tiankai Hang, Ji Hou, Jiaqi Li, Yifan Liu, Tao Lu 等 38 位作者

Interactive world generation requires models to follow successive commands while preserving relevant history and action consequences. We present Hy-Nomas, a video world model with an 8B diffusion backbone that supports free-form text instructions and continuous camera control across multiple interaction turns. It generates variable-length segments conditioned on current inputs and cached history. Our central design aligns structured video captions with action-aware causal attention: descriptive context remains accessible across segments, while action instructions are restricted to their intended temporal windows. A vision-language Prompt Enhancer (PE) translates user requests and multimodal interaction histories into structured conditions for the next segment. A multi-stage curriculum progressively introduces causal generation, text interaction, camera control, and training on model-generated histories, followed by diffusion distillation. In human evaluation, Hy-Nomas shows superior performance over existing world models. We release model weights, code and benchmarks, together with a lightweight adaptation workflow, to support reproducible research on interactive world generation.

The SonicAGI System for the REAL-TSE Challenge

Kai Li, Wendi Sang, Jintao Cheng, Xiaolin Hu

Real-world target speaker extraction (TSE) remains challenging because target speech, interference, and enrollment are recorded under mismatched acoustic conditions with reverberation, noise, and irregular conversational overlap. This paper describes the SonicAGI submission to the REAL-TSE Challenge (IEEE SLT 2026). We take a data-centric approach that combines fully simulated mixtures from clean speech with real meeting overlaps, and use a frozen offline enhancer to provide a denoised mirror of real targets for auxiliary supervision. For the online track, we introduce SwiftNet-Lookahead, which inserts a single bounded-lookahead module before a strictly causal iterative separator and keeps the total system latency at 96 ms. For the offline track, we use a frame-level enrollment cross-attention USEF-TFGridNet with a magnitude-domain fusion stage designed to balance perceptual quality and speaker fidelity. In the final verified Phase-1 ranking, SwiftNet-Lookahead ranks third in Track 1 and USEF-TFGridNet ranks fifth in Track 2, both exceeding the challenge baselines. These results suggest that real-data-oriented training and track-specific modeling are effective for conversational TSE.

RouteDRAG: Learning to Route and Control Agentic Execution for Multimodal Document RAG

Zekai Chen, Hao Zhu, Yu Liu, Xunkai Li, Zejian Kang, Rui Qian, Quanjiang Li, Rong-Hua Li

Web-based applications increasingly rely on understanding long multimodal documents, where answering questions often requires combining information across pages, tables, and figures. Agentic retrieval-augmented generation addresses these tasks through iterative retrieval and reasoning. However, Agentic execution is not always necessary, introducing additional computation and potentially incorrect answers. Our empirical analysis reveals that Agentic execution provides query-dependent benefits, while additional operations may improve, preserve, or degrade answer accuracy. These findings motivate controlling both Agent invocation and subsequent execution. To address these challenges, we propose RouteDRAG, a learning-based framework comprising four components. Unified Document Index organizes multimodal content into a graph-backed index and derives query representations from initial retrieval. Adaptive Path Routing preserves exact answering and predicts the relative benefit of Agent over shorter execution paths. Dynamic Agent Execution maintains an evolving workspace and refines Planner proposals to control tool use and termination. Sequential Policy Learning first trains operation control from observed outcomes and then trains path routing using the resulting Agent's performance. Across two benchmarks, RouteDRAG achieves an average accuracy improvement of 3.47 percentage points over shorter-path-only execution while assigning only 79.3% of queries to Agent. Notably, it also surpasses uniform Agent execution on both benchmarks while requiring fewer answering calls. Our code is now available at https://github.com/Ereshkigal1/RouteDRAG.

Plenty of Room in the Middle: Revealing Opportunities on a GPU Cluster via Fine-Grained Monitoring

Andrew Sheinberg, Samyak Gupta, Kai Li

GPU clusters have become essential computing resources for AI and scientific research in academia and industry. However, their high cost and growing demand often result in long queueing delays. While previous monitoring efforts have operated at second- or minute-level frequencies, they primarily informed job-level scheduling for clusters and lacked the detail needed to optimize GPU-level utilization. This paper presents an in-depth study of a university research GPU cluster, analyzing resource usage at 100 ms intervals. We have developed a lightweight monitoring tool that leverages Nvidia's DCGM library to capture fine-grained "compute utilization" metrics within GPUs. Deployed on a cluster with 89 nodes and 319 GPUs, our tool collected data over several months. This paper focuses on a 10-day period with 7,399 jobs submitted by 150 users from 12 departments. Our study reveals three key findings: (1) the GPU cluster exhibits significant underutilization, with over 70% of jobs using less than 20% of GPU memory and 50% averaging below 5% Streaming Multiprocessor (SM) utilization; (2) 80% of jobs have a drastic mismatch between their requested and actual durations, significantly limiting the scheduler's effectiveness; and (3) the multi-GPU jobs we examined show highly periodic communication patterns. These findings suggest there is plenty of room in the middle: substantial utilization gains are available through better job scheduling and GPU multitasking, independent of hardware or application improvements. Our monitoring solution is available as open-source software at https://github.com/als244/gpu_server_monitoring.

SpecGuard: Detecting Multi-Turn LLM Jailbreaks via Specification-Based Runtime Monitoring

Junle Li, Siqi Chen, Jiakai Li, Bingzhuo Zhong

Multi-turn jailbreaks turn dialogue safety into a trace property: a violation may become identifiable only when user intent and assistant behavior are considered across multiple turns. Existing guard models largely classify individual messages or exchanges and return risk scores or labels, without executable safety semantics or a formally checkable decision trail. We present SpecGuard, a training-free, specification-driven framework for monitoring multi-turn LLM interactions. SpecGuard uses a fixed atomic-proposition contract to map natural-language observations into causally scoped, evidence-backed facts, and expresses forbidden interaction patterns as Linear Temporal Logic specifications. Each specification is compiled into a symbolic finite automaton that incrementally consumes the resulting dialogue trace. The same monitoring mechanism supports buffered runtime checking and retrospective auditing, while accepting runs produce replayable witnesses that identify the triggered specification, supporting facts, and relevant dialogue turns. Experiments on multi-turn safety benchmarks show that SpecGuard consistently outperforms representative open-source guard models while maintaining controlled false-positive rates. These results demonstrate a practical path from heuristic risk classification toward formally specified, verifiable, and auditable LLM safety monitoring, without learned detector parameters or access to the protected model.

SLT 2026 REAL-TSE Challenge: Real-world Target Speaker Extraction from Conversational Recordings

Shuai Wang, Zihan Qian, Ke Zhang, Jiangyu Han, Zikai Liu, Xiaoyang Yu, Haoyu Li, Marc Delcroix 等 12 位作者

We introduce the REAL-TSE Challenge, an IEEE SLT 2026 satellite challenge on target speaker extraction~(TSE) from real conversational recordings. Given a multi-speaker mixture and one or more enrollment utterances from a target speaker, participating systems must recover only the target speech. Unlike simulated read-speech benchmarks, REAL-TSE evaluates Mandarin and English recordings that contain natural overlap, reverberation, noise, channel mismatch, and conversational dynamics. The challenge defines two complementary tracks: an Online track for low-latency streaming extraction and an Offline track for full-context processing. Systems are evaluated with Token Error Rate (TER), Speaker Similarity (SpkSim), DNSMOS, and target-speaker activity F1. This overview paper describes the task definition, datasets, baselines, evaluation protocol, submitted systems, condition-wise findings, and lessons for future real-world TSE benchmarks.

ISB-NMPC: Interception-Oriented Spherical-Bearing Nonlinear Model Predictive Control for Quadrotors

Li Hong, Linkai Liu, Xiangyu Ren, Shuli Lv, Chen Min, Chunjiang Wu, Yujun Zhang, Dingchen Zeng 等 9 位作者

Quadrotor interceptors equipped with strapdown cameras offer a low-cost solution for physically countering unauthorized UAVs. However, this configuration inherently couples vehicle maneuvering and camera pointing, creating a conflict between rapid closing and maintaining target visibility. We present interception-oriented spherical-bearing nonlinear model predictive control (ISB-NMPC), which couples spherical-bearing prediction with nonlinear quadrotor dynamics to jointly optimize target-directed closing motion and visibility. An attitude-compensated extended Kalman filter on S^2 estimates target bearing motion, compensates for perception delay, and predicts target bearings to guide scale-adaptive detection. Across 30 paired simulation trials, ISB-NMPC achieves an interception success rate of 86.7%, the highest among the evaluated controllers, with a mean per-trial target-visible time of 99.11%. Outdoor flights demonstrate acquisition of a 30 cm target at approximately 150 m, with interceptor speed reaching 17 m/s in the long-range flight and approximately 14 m/s while pursuing a quadrotor-towed maneuvering target. The software and hardware are open source at https://github.com/HOLYNOTBAD/ISB-NMPC and https://github.com/HOLYNOTBAD/holydrone, respectively.

Efficient Streaming Audio-Visual Target Speaker Extraction for Real-World Acoustic Scenes

Wendi Sang, Kai Li, Yifan Li, Jianqiang Huang, Xiaolin Hu

Streaming audio-visual target speaker extraction (AVTSE) is essential for latency-sensitive applications. However, current causal systems face two coupled gaps. First, standard benchmarks fix the number of speakers at two and ignore the near-/far-field interference, reverberation, and sudden noise of real scenes. Second, high-performance causal architectures are too heavy for edge deployment. Lightweight alternatives try to reclaim capacity by repeatedly invoking a small separator, which offsets the savings. To address the first gap, we release RealSSA, a realistic AVTSE benchmark consisting of RealSSA-Sim and RealSSA-Real. RealSSA-Sim provides controllable simulated scenes with 1--5 dynamic near-field interfering speakers; scenes with far-field interference additionally include 10--15 far-field interfering speakers. RealSSA-Real provides a held-out real-recorded evaluation set. To address the second gap, we propose Falcon, a causal AVTSE method. Its Separator performs multi-scale time-frequency separation in a single encoder--decoder pass. We train Falcon with an encoder-space speaker contrastive loss. This loss suppresses near-field leakage at zero inference cost and transfers across backbones. Falcon achieves state-of-the-art extraction quality on RealSSA-Sim, LRS2-2Mix, LRS3-2Mix, and VoxCeleb2-2Mix. Compared with the causal AV-TFGridNet baseline, it cuts parameters by 91.9%, computation by 20.2 times, and GPU inference latency by 11.1 times. Code and demo are available at https://cslikai.cn/Falcon/.

CURE: Critique-Driven Unified Reinforcement Learning for Test-Time Self-Improvement

Guirong Chen Renmin University of China, Shuqi Ye, Wenkai Yang Renmin University of China, Shiqi Shen Wechat, Tencent, Guangyao Shen Tencent, Yankai Lin Renmin University of China

The evolution paradigm of Large Language Models (LLMs) is shifting from scaling training compute to scaling inference-time compute. While Reinforcement Learning with Verifiable Rewards (RLVR) has become a key engine for this transition, standard approaches often fail to equip models with the autonomous improvement capabilities required for test-time scaling. Existing critique-guided methods attempt to mitigate this by leveraging external feedback or ground-truth signals; however, these dependencies are unavailable at test time, fundamentally limiting the model’s capacity for continuous self-improvement. To bridge this gap, we propose CURE (Critique-driven Unified REinforcement Learning), a framework that jointly optimizes a single policy for standard solving, critiquing, and guided re-exploration. Uniquely, CURE facilitates re-exploration by generating strategic hints while discarding initial incorrect solutions to mitigate anchoring bias.Empirical results across diverse mathematical reasoning and code generation benchmarks demonstrate that CURE not only maintains competitive single-turn performance but, more importantly, unlocks effective inference-time scaling, enabling the model to significantly boost accuracy through iterative self-improvement.

Parameter Importance is Not Static: Evolving Parameter Isolation for Supervised Fine-Tuning

Zekai Lin University of Glasgow, Chao Xue, Di Liang, Xingsheng Han, Peiyang Liu, Xianjie Wu Beijing Information Science & Technology University, Lei Jiang Tencent AI Lab, Yu Lu 等 11 位作者

Supervised Fine-Tuning (SFT) of large language models often suffers from task interference and catastrophic forgetting. Recent approaches alleviate this issue by isolating task-critical parameters during training. However, these methods represent a static solution to a dynamic problem, assuming that parameter importance remains fixed once identified. In this work, we empirically demonstrate that parameter importance exhibits temporal drift over the course of training. To address this, we propose Evolving Parameter Isolation (EPI), a fine-tuning framework that adapts isolation decisions based on online estimates of parameter importance. Instead of freezing a fixed subset of parameters, EPI periodically updates isolation masks using gradient-based signals, enabling the model to protect emerging task-critical parameters while releasing outdated ones to recover plasticity. Experiments on diverse multi-task benchmarks demonstrate that EPI consistently reduces interference and forgetting compared to static isolation and standard fine-tuning, while improving overall generalization. Our analysis highlights the necessity of synchronizing isolation mechanisms with the evolving dynamics of learning diverse abilities.

User Perceptions vs. Proxy LLM Judges: Privacy and Helpfulness in LLM Responses to Privacy-Sensitive Scenarios

Xiaoyuan Wu Carnegie Mellon University, Roshni Kaushik Fujitsu Research and Development Center Co. Ltm., Wenkai Li Fujitsu Research and Development Center Co. Ltm., Lujo Bauer Carnegie Mellon University, Koichi Onoue

Large language models (LLMs) are rapidly being adopted for tasks like draftingemails, summarizing meetings, and answering health questions. In thesesettings, users may need to share private information (e.g., contactdetails, health records). To evaluate LLMs’ ability to identify and redactsuch information, prior work introduced real-life, scenario-based benchmarks(e.g., ConfAIde, PrivacyLens) and found that LLMs can leak privateinformation in complex scenarios. However, these evaluations relied on proxy LLMs to judge the helpfulnessand privacy-preservation quality of LLM responses, rather than directlymeasuring users’ perceptions. To understand how users perceive the helpfulness and privacy-preservationquality of LLM responses to privacy-sensitive scenarios, we conducted auser study (n=94) using 90 PrivacyLens scenarios. We found that users hadlow agreement with each other when evaluating identical LLM responses. Incontrast, five proxy LLMs reached high agreement, yet each proxy LLM hadlow correlation with users’ evaluations. These results indicate that proxy LLMs cannot accurately estimate users’ wide range of perceptions of utility and privacy inprivacy-sensitive scenarios. We discuss the need for more user-centeredstudies to measure LLMs’ ability to help users while preserving privacy, and for improving alignment between LLMs and users in estimating perceivedprivacy and utility.

Union-of-Experts: Neurons in Mixture-of-Experts are Secretly Routers

Songhao Wu, Ang Lv, Ruobing Xie Tencent, Samm Sun, Di Wang, Rui Yan Wuhan University, Yankai Lin Renmin University of China

Mixture-of-Experts (MoE) models rely on an external router to assign tokens to experts. This design inherently separates the routing decision from each expert’s internal capabilities, leading to suboptimal performance. In this work, we address this limitation with Union-of-Experts (UoE), an MoE variant that performs "expert-autonomous routing”. The core mechanism of UoE is to pre-designate a minute fraction of neurons within each expert as "routing neurons”. Experts autonomously select relevant tokens by comparing the activation intensity of these neurons, aligning routing decisions with each expert’s functional profile. To prevent the waste of activations from unselected experts’ routing neurons, we aggregate all routing neuron outputs and sum them into the final layer output. This aggregation acts as a novel virtual shared expert whose parameters are distributed across the individual experts, and improves overall parameter efficiency. We pre-train UoE models with up to 3B parameters, demonstrating that they outperform traditional MoEs with matched efficiency. Furthermore, our analysis of the routing neurons provides valuable insights into expert-autonomous selection and the broader routing mechanisms of MoE models.

EconProver: Towards More Economical Test-Time Scaling for Automated Theorem Proving

Mukai Li, Linfeng Song Google, Zhenwen Liang Tencent AI Lab, Jiahao Xu Tencent AI Lab, Shansan Gong, Qi Liu University of Hong Kong, Haitao Mi Tencent AI Lab, Dong Yu CapitalOne

Large Language Models (LLMs) have recently advanced the field of Automated Theorem Proving (ATP), attaining substantial performance gains through widely adopted test-time scaling strategies, notably reflective Chain-of-Thought (CoT) reasoning and increased sampling passes. However, they both introduce significant computational overhead for inference. Moreover, existing cost analyses typically regulate only the number of sampling passes, while neglecting the substantial disparities in sampling costs introduced by different scaling strategies. In this paper, we systematically compare the efficiency of different test-time scaling strategies for ATP models and demonstrate the inefficiency of the current state-of-the-art (SOTA) open-source approaches. We then investigate approaches to significantly reduce token usage and sample passes while maintaining the original performance. Specifically, we propose two complementary methods that can be integrated into a unified EconRL pipeline for amplified benefits: (1) a dynamic Chain-of-Thought (CoT) switching mechanism designed to mitigate unnecessary token consumption, and (2) Diverse parallel-scaled reinforcement learning (RL) with trainable prefixes to enhance pass rates under constrained sampling passes. Experiments on miniF2F and ProofNet demonstrate that our EconProver-GD achieves comparable performance to baseline methods with only 12% of the computational cost. This work provides actionable insights for deploying lightweight ATP models without sacrificing performance.

Computer-using agents powered by Vision-Language Models (VLMs) have demonstrated human-like capabilities in operating digital environments like mobile platforms. While these agents hold great promise for advancing digital automation, their potential for unsafe operations, such as system compromise and privacy leakage, is raising significant concerns. Detecting these safety concerns across the vast and complex operational space of mobile environments presents a formidable challenge that remains critically underexplored. To establish a foundation for mobile agent safety research, we introduce MobileRisk-Live, a dynamic sandbox environment accompanied by a safety detection benchmark comprising realistic trajectories with fine-grained annotations. Built upon this, we propose OS-Sentinel, a novel hybrid safety detection framework that synergistically combines a Formal Verifier for detecting explicit system-level violations with a VLM-based Contextual Judge for assessing contextual risks and agent actions. Experiments show that achieves 10%–30% improvements over existing approaches across multiple metrics. Further analysis provides critical insights that foster the development of safer and more reliable autonomous mobile agents. Our code, environment, and data are available at https://qiushisun.github.io/OS-Sentinel-Home/.

Reinforcement Learning on Pre-Training Data

Recent progress in large language models (LLMs) is largely driven by scaling training compute through either pre-training with next-token prediction (NTP) or post-training with reinforcement learning (RL). The former contributes to learning broad knowledge and skills from general data, while struggling with data inefficiency and catastrophic forgetting in continual learning settings. The latter incentivizes reasoning capabilities with strong generalization, but is constrained by limited data availability due to its reliance on human annotation. To alleviate these issues, we propose Reinforcement Learning on Pre-Training data (RLPT), which combines the advantages of learning from general data and RL. In particular, RLPT derives reward signals directly from general text data through a next-segment reasoning objective, rewarding the policy for correctly predicting next text segments conditioned on the prefix text. Experiments across multiple benchmarks and models demonstrate the effectiveness of . For example, RLPT yields substantial improvements in continual pre-training (+4.6\%) and provides a strong foundation for post-training (+3.4\%) on Qwen3-8B-Base.

Forest Before Trees: Latent Superposition for Efficient Visual Reasoning

Yubo Wang, Juntian Zhang, Yichen Wu, Yankai Lin Renmin University of China, Nils Lukas Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence, Yuhan Liu Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence

While Chain-of-Thought empowers Large Vision-Language Models with multi-step reasoning, explicit textual rationales suffer from an information bandwidth bottleneck, where continuous visual details are discarded during discrete tokenization. Recent latent reasoning methods attempt to address this challenge, but often fall prey to premature semantic collapse due to rigid autoregressive objectives. In this paper, we propose Laser, a novel paradigm that reformulates visual deduction via Dynamic Windowed Alignment Learning. Instead of forcing a point-wise prediction, Laser aligns the latent state with a dynamic validity window of future semantics. This mechanism enforces a “Forest-before-Trees” cognitive hierarchy, enabling the model to maintain a probabilistic superposition of global features before narrowing down to local details. Crucially, Laser maintains interpretability via decodable trajectories while stabilizing unconstrained learning via Self-Refined Superposition. Extensive experiments on 6 benchmarks demonstrate that Laser achieves state-of-the-art performance among latent reasoning methods, surpassing the strong baseline Monet by 5.03% on average. Notably, it achieves these gains with extreme efficiency, reducing inference tokens by more than 97%, while demonstrating robust generalization to out-of-distribution domains.

Masked diffusion language models present a promising paradigm for language modeling, yet the systematic theoretical analysis and comprehensive empirical validation of their alignment on general tasks remain relatively underexplored. In this paper, we identify the primary challenge for this problem: the high variance in Evidence Lower Bound (ELBO)-based likelihood estimates required for preference optimization. To address this issue, we propose Variance-Reduced Preference Optimization (VRPO), a framework that formally analyzes the bias and variance of the preference optimization loss and gradient based on Direct Preference Optimization, showing both are governed by a score-estimator variance. Building on this foundation, we introduce multiple unbiased variance reduction strategies, including optimal budget allocation and antithetic sampling, to improve alignment performance. We demonstrate the effectiveness of VRPO by applying it to LLaDA, a large diffusion language model. The resulting model, LLaDA 1.5, consistently outperforms its SFT-only predecessor consistently across various general benchmarks, such as mathematics (GSM8K +4.7), coding (HumanEval +3.0, MBPP +1.8), and alignment (IFEval +4.0, Arena-Hard +4.3). Furthermore, LLaDA 1.5 demonstrates a highly competitive mathematical performance compared to other strong language MDMs and ARMs. Our model is available at https://huggingface.co/GSAI-ML/LLaDA-1.5.

Effective and efficient access to relevant information is essential for disaster management. However, no retrieval model is specialized for disaster management, and existing general-domain models fail to handle the varied search intents inherent to disaster management scenarios, resulting in inconsistent and unreliable performance. To this end, we introduce DMRetriever, the first series of dense retrieval models (33M to 7.6B) tailored for this domain. It is trained through a novel three-stage framework of bidirectional attention adaptation, unsupervised contrastive pre-training, and difficulty-aware progressive instruction fine-tuning, using high-quality data generated through an advanced data refinement pipeline. Comprehensive experiments demonstrate that DMRetriever achieves state-of-the-art performance across all six search intents at every model scale. Moreover, DMRetriever is highly parameter-efficient, with 596M model outperforming baselines over 13.3 larger and 33M model exceeding baselines with only 7.6% of their parameters. All codes, data, and checkpoints are available at https://github.com/KaiYin97/DMRETRIEVER.

CaseFacts: A Benchmark for Legal Fact-Checking and Precedent Retrieval

Akshith Reddy Putta, Jacob Devasier University of Texas at Arlington, University of Texas at Arlington, Chengkai Li University of Texas at Arlington

Automated Fact-Checking has largely focused on verifying general knowledge against static corpora, overlooking high-stakes domains like law where truth is evolving and technically complex. We introduce CaseFacts, a benchmark for verifying colloquial legal claims against U.S. Supreme Court precedents. Unlike existing resources that map formal texts to formal texts, CaseFacts challenges systems to bridge the semantic gap between layperson assertions and technical jurisprudence while accounting for temporal validity. The dataset consists of 6,294 claims categorized as Supported, Refuted, or Overruled. We construct this benchmark using a multi-stage pipeline that leverages Large Language Models (LLMs) to synthesize claims from expert case summaries, employing a novel semantic similarity heuristic to efficiently identify and verify complex legal overrulings. Experiments with state-of-the-art LLMs reveal that the task remains challenging; notably, augmenting models with unrestricted web search degrades performance compared to closed-book baselines due to the retrieval of noisy, non-authoritative precedents. We release CaseFacts to spur research into legal fact verification systems.

ChatHLS: Towards Systematic Design Automation and Optimization for High-Level Synthesis

Runkai Li, Jia Xiong, Xiuyuan He, Jieru Zhao Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Jiaqi Lv, Haowen Fang Synopsys Inc., Lei Qi Southeast University, Xi Wang Southeast University

High-Level Synthesis (HLS) improves IC development productivity by enabling hardware design from C-like languages. However, strict coding constraints and design-specific optimizations limit its widespread adoption. While recent efforts employ large language models (LLMs) to assist HLS design, they often struggle with synthesizability rules and directive semantics. To this end, we introduce ChatHLS, a multi-agent HLS design framework that leverages specialized LLMs for automated debugging and directive tuning. ChatHLS incorporates an adaptive error case expansion mechanism, combined with a reasoning-to-instruction analysis method to accurately diagnose HLS errors. To optimize hardware performance, it enables QoR-aware reasoning to learn the impact of HLS directives on the quality of results (QoR). Experimental results demonstrate that ChatHLS outperforms Gemini-3-pro with a 32.6% relative improvement in debugging, while achieving significant speedups across various HLS kernels and neural network accelerators. These results underscore the potential of ChatHLS for agile hardware development.

AI 速览:提出涵盖数据构建、模型训练与评估的通用工具使用框架ToolLLM,通过自动构建ToolBench数据集并微调LLaMA得到ToolLLaMA,以提升开源模型的API调用能力。

Despite the advancements of open-source large language models (LLMs), e.g., LLaMA, they remain significantly limited in tool-use capabilities, i.e., using external tools (APIs) to fulfill human instructions. The reason is that current instruction tuning largely focuses on basic language tasks but ignores the tool-use domain. This is in contrast to the excellent tool-use capabilities of state-of-the-art (SOTA) closed-source LLMs, e.g., ChatGPT. To bridge this gap, we introduce ToolLLM, a general tool-use framework encompassing data construction, model training, and evaluation. We first present ToolBench, an instruction-tuning dataset for tool use, which is constructed automatically using ChatGPT. Specifically, the construction can be divided into three stages: (i) API collection: we collect 16,464 real-world RESTful APIs spanning 49 categories from RapidAPI Hub; (ii) instruction generation: we prompt ChatGPT to generate diverse instructions involving these APIs, covering both single-tool and multi-tool scenarios; (iii) solution path annotation: we use ChatGPT to search for a valid solution path (chain of API calls) for each instruction. To enhance the reasoning capabilities of LLMs, we develop a novel depth-first search-based decision tree algorithm. It enables LLMs to evaluate multiple reasoning traces and expand the search space. Moreover, to evaluate the tool-use capabilities of LLMs, we develop an automatic evaluator: ToolEval. Based on ToolBench, we fine-tune LLaMA to obtain an LLM ToolLLaMA, and equip it with a neural API retriever to recommend appropriate APIs for each instruction. Experiments show that ToolLLaMA demonstrates a remarkable ability to execute complex instructions and generalize to unseen APIs, and exhibits comparable performance to ChatGPT. Our ToolLLaMA also demonstrates strong zero-shot generalization ability in an out-of-distribution tool-use dataset: APIBench.
