PhysInsert:基于几何先验与双向物体-场景交互的物理合理物体插入

PhysInsert: Physically Plausible Object Insertion with Geometric Priors and Bidirectional Object-Scene Interactions

AI 速览:提出 PhysInsert 框架,通过几何引导适配与双向物体-场景空间监督,实现参考图像驱动的物理合理物体插入。

We present PhysInsert, a framework for physically plausible reference-based object insertion that jointly adapts objects and their surrounding scenes. Existing methods often rely on masked inputs, generation-based pairs, or training pairs with limited viewpoint variation, leaving pose and illumination adaptation and bidirectional object-scene interactions insufficiently constrained. We construct the Insert World dataset with strictly aligned Blender-rendered counterfactual pairs and object references across viewpoints and lighting conditions. Building on these data, Geometry-Guided Adaptation couples a VGGT geometry stream with image and text streams under target-scene feature supervision to guide spatially consistent insertion. Complementary 2D Object-Scene Spatial Supervision jointly supervises object occupancy and environmental changes while grounding spatial instructions in object regions through image-text attention. We introduce PhysInsert-Bench with dedicated cross-environment and cross-view cases requiring illumination and pose adaptation beyond appearance copying. Experiments on PhysInsert-Bench and DreamBooth demonstrate improved image fidelity; a user study further shows more accurate placement and improved lighting integration, perspective, and pose plausibility.

Blind Video Denoising for Vocal Tract rtMRI using a Self-Supervised Ensemble

Julian Andres Hernandez-Potes, Tomás Arias-Vergara, Daiqi Liu, Andreas Maier, Paula Andrea Perez-Toro

Real-time magnetic resonance imaging of the vocal tract makes speech articulation directly observable, but the trade-off between temporal resolution and signal quality introduces substantial noise and obscures fine articulatory detail. Since clean references cannot be acquired for a moving vocal tract, supervised denoising approaches are not applicable in this setting. We propose a self-supervised denoising framework that combines spatiotemporal super-resolution learning with pseudo-supervision derived from a variance-stabilized non-local means filter. A dual-model fusion strategy balances noise suppression and preservation of high-frequency articulatory structure. Experiments on the USC-75 multi-speaker dataset under natural noise conditions show that the ensemble raises the signal-to-noise ratio by 11.9 dB on unseen subjects while attaining more high-frequency articulatory content in the frames. Among tuned implementations of anisotropic diffusion, block-matching filtering, non-local means and pre-smoothed non-local means, every configuration that achieves comparable noise suppression does so at the cost of high-frequency content or of structural fidelity. Under severe added Gaussian, Rayleigh and Rician noise, peak signal-to-noise ratio improves by 7.6 to 11.8 dB and structural similarity roughly triples. An ablation shows that the variance-stabilized pseudo-supervision is an essential element for denoising, and that the effect is attributable to the hard thresholding contained in the stabilization transform.

Turing LLM Post-Training: Calibrated Distillation and Efficient Dynamic-MoE Execution

Yue He, Jiahui Hu, Shaman Tang, Hua Zhou, Qiman Wu, Menglin Li, Yizhao Wang, Yuheng Zhang 等 22 位作者

We study post-training for dynamically routed mixture-of-experts (MoE) models, focusing on integrating independently optimized specialists while keeping consolidation efficient. Our approach combines calibrated multi-teacher on-policy distillation (C-MOPD), which matches each selected teacher on a local Top-$K$ support with teacher-wise loss normalization and clipping, with an execution path that uses post-capacity bounded-width dispatch, final-route replay, and asynchronous rollout--training overlap. On Turing-20B-A2B, the selected model achieves a four-domain normalized integration score of 0.9988 and retains at least 90.16\% of the measured specialist gain in every domain. At matched $K=32$, the full calibration objective scores 0.9962, compared with 0.9724 without calibration and 0.9834 without clipping. At a matched 8K response cap, the model exceeds both shared SFT and Qwen3-8B on all four reasoning-enabled mathematics and code benchmarks (unweighted mean: 85.92, versus 80.33 for Qwen3-8B and 74.21 for SFT), and improves over SFT on ten of twelve broader evaluation metrics. In a PPU-based profile, the combined execution configuration reduces consolidation step time from 398.7 to 139.3 seconds, an observed 2.86$\times$ speedup over serial execution. These results demonstrate strong specialist integration alongside more efficient consolidation, while reflecting the complete training and execution framework rather than any single component.

Bayes-Consistent Losses for Adaptive Inference in Classification

Shirley Xiaoqi Liu, Florence Regol, Antonios Valkanas, Patrick Rebeschini, Mark Coates

Adaptive inference systems balance accuracy and inference cost by routing inputs to models with varying capabilities. Although jointly training models and routers is empirically more sample-efficient than training them separately, principled losses for joint training remain underexplored. We address this gap in a classification setting by proposing cost-sensitive hinge losses for jointly training classifiers with single-stage or cascade routers. Single-stage routers directly select a model per input, whereas cascade routers sequentially decide at each stage whether to predict with the current model or defer to the next stage, which uses a more accurate but more costly model. For both settings, we prove linear calibration bounds establishing Bayes consistency: minimizing the hinge risk recovers the Bayes-optimal risk under the target cost-sensitive zero-one loss. Moreover, since routers can require more labeled data to train than classifiers, we propose a novel post-training prediction-powered inference (PPI) procedure that uses unlabeled data to refine a trained single-stage router. Experiments on synthetic and real datasets demonstrate that the proposed hinge losses are effective for joint training and that PPI can correct routing errors when labeled data is scarce.

Energy-Efficient Memristor Accelerator for Depression Detection with a CNN-LSTM Hybrid Model

Jiaqi Liu, Yun Yu, Fenglin Xi, Shenjian Zhang, Shenghao Liao, Wenze Zheng, Mingxuan Hu, Yangbin Chen 等 10 位作者

Early screening of depression requires efficient analysis of audio and speech data, while conventional CPU and GPU platforms incur high latency and energy consumption for CNN-LSTM inference. To address this challenge, we propose a unified resistive RAM (ReRAM) processing-in-memory accelerator for a CNN-LSTM attention workload. The architecture integrates convolutional, recurrent, attention, and multi-layer perceptron (MLP) stages within a crossbar-based framework, reducing intermediate data movement between spatial and temporal branches. CNN operations are mapped through im2col-based vectorization, while LSTM gate computations are reformulated using concatenated input-state vectors and mapped onto ReRAM crossbars. We further provide module-level workload breakdown, parameter sensitivity analysis, and matched-workload context against representative ReRAM/PIM accelerators. Experimental results show 32.1 times and 9.3 times latency reduction over CPU and GPU baselines, respectively, with about 160 times and 140 times energy reduction. Simplified weight-perturbation tests characterize ASLF sensitivity in an untrained pipeline with synthetic spectrogram-shaped inputs. Task-level prediction accuracy and robustness remain to be evaluated.

GenoBERT: A Language Model for Accurate Genotype Imputation

Lei Huang, Chuan Qiu, Kuan-Jui Su, Anqi Liu, Yun Gong, Weiqiang Lin, Lindong Jiang, Chen Zhao 等 16 位作者

Genotype imputation enables dense variant coverage for genome-wide association and risk-prediction studies, yet conventional reference-panel methods remain limited by ancestry bias and reduced rare-variant accuracy. We present Genotype Bidirectional Encoder Representations from Transformers (GenoBERT), a transformer-based, reference-free framework that tokenizes phased genotypes and uses a self-attention mechanism to capture both short- and long-range linkage disequilibrium (LD) dependencies. Benchmarking on two independent datasets including the Louisiana Osteoporosis Study (LOS) and the 1000 Genomes Project (1KGP) across ancestry groups and multiple genotype missingness levels (5-50%) shows that GenoBERT achieves the highest overall accuracy compared to four baseline methods (Beagle5.4, SCDA, BiU-Net, and STICI). At practical sparsity levels (up to 25% missing), GenoBERT attains high overall imputation accuracy ($r^2 approx 0.98$) across datasets, and maintains robust performance ($r^2 > 0.90$) even at 50% missingness. Experimental results across different ancestries confirm consistent gains across datasets, with resilience to small sample sizes and weak LD. A 128-SNP (single-nucleotide polymorphism) context window (approximately 100 Kb) is validated through LD-decay analyses as sufficient to capture local correlation structures. By eliminating reference-panel dependence while preserving high accuracy, GenoBERT provides a scalable and robust solution for genotype imputation and a foundation for downstream genomic modeling.

Lev-3B: A Data Recipe for Compact Probabilistic Log Decision Models

Leo Betthauser, Yingqi Liu, Uday Shah, Jishang Wei, Sainyam Galhotra, Liang Gou, Vedant Dharnidharka, Hao Yang

Many log-analysis tasks involve choosing among known options, such as detecting anomalous sessions or identifying attack techniques, and benefit from calibrated probabilities. We present Lev-3B, an open 3B-parameter decision model built on Granite-4.1-3B-Base with a shared pointer readout, and study its training recipe. The recipe has two key parts. First, training follows a curriculum: the model learns bounded natural-language decisions, using no log data, before it sees any logs. Second, the log stage mixes the target tasks with general log data spanning 35 auxiliary tasks unrelated to either evaluation task. We evaluate one shared checkpoint on sources seen in training and on sources excluded from training, calibration and model selection. The two-stage recipe transfers substantially better than training on log data alone. Adding general log data improves performance on excluded sources. At a fraction of their serving cost, Lev-3B outperforms prompted frontier models on anomaly detection, including on an excluded logging system, but trails them on attack-technique classification. Its probabilities are well calibrated on familiar sources, but on the excluded logging system it confidently misses anomalies. We release the checkpoint, recipe, data manifests, and prediction-level artifacts.

ELEVATE: Agentic Controller Acquisition from Task Failure for Quadrupedal Manipulation

Shiqi Liu, Radu Corcodel, Ding Zhao

Quadrupedal manipulators can extend their workspace through whole-body interaction, but task-planning agents' capabilities remain limited by their available controllers. We present ELEVATE, a framework that uses persistent failures during task-program refinement to identify and acquire missing whole-body control capabilities. When these failures suggest a missing physical capability, a coding agent formulates and iteratively refines a reinforcement-learning problem, specifying behavior-specific rewards, curricula, and termination conditions. Validated controllers are added to the capability library and composed with existing controllers to retry the task. Starting from a single pretrained loco-manipulation controller, ELEVATE autonomously acquires controllers for wall-supported elevation, supported manipulation, and wall descent across a sequence of seven simulation tasks. These controllers are reused in subsequent reaching and object-manipulation tasks. On the five tasks beyond the initial controller's workspace, ELEVATE achieves mean success rates of 98.4%-100% across five independent runs, while coding-agent baselines with a fixed controller library fail to complete these tasks. The synthesized task programs, together with the acquired controllers, also transfer to a physical quadrupedal manipulator without real-robot training or fine-tuning, achieving 18/20 successes in rack retrieval and 16/20 in floor-to-rack placement. Videos and demonstrations are available at https://agentic-quad-elevate.github.io/public/.

STAPO: Stabilizing Reinforcement Learning for LLMs by Silencing Rare Spurious Tokens

Shiqi Liu, Zeyu He, Guojian Zhan, Letian Tao, Zhilong Zheng, Jiang Wu, Yinuo Wang, Yang Guan 等 13 位作者

Reinforcement Learning (RL) has significantly improved large language model reasoning, but existing RL fine-tuning methods rely heavily on heuristic techniques such as entropy regularization and reweighting to maintain stability. In practice, they often suffer from late-stage performance collapse, leading to degraded reasoning quality and unstable training. We identify a key factor behind this instability: a small fraction of tokens, termed spurious tokens (around 0.01%), which contribute little to the reasoning outcome but receive disproportionately amplified gradient updates due to inheriting the full sequence-level reward. We present a unified framework for evaluating token-level optimization impacts across spurious risk, gradient norms, and entropy changes. Building on the analysis of token characteristics that severely disrupt optimization, we propose the Silencing Spurious Tokens (S2T) mechanism to efficiently suppress their gradient perturbations. Incorporating this mechanism into a group-based objective, we propose Spurious-Token-Aware Policy Optimization (STAPO), which promotes stable and effective large-scale model refinement. Across six mathematical benchmarks and three model scales, STAPO consistently demonstrates superior entropy stability and achieves average accuracy improvements over baselines including GRPO, 20-Entropy, and JustRL under two widely-adopted evaluation settings.

CylindTrack: Depth-Aware Cylindrical Motion Modeling for Panoramic Multi-Object Tracking in Mobile Robots

Buyin Deng, Kai Luo, Lingxin Huang, Xinqi Liu, Fei Cheng, Hang Zheng, Liming Yin, Kailun Yang

Maintaining consistent target identities and observation histories is essential for mobile robot perception. Panoramic Multi-Object Tracking (MOT) benefits from broad visual coverage but must address coordinate discontinuities at the equirectangular image seam and fluctuations in relative-depth estimates. Such fluctuations can undermine depth-aware association, highlighting the need for temporally consistent depth cues. We propose CylindTrack, a depth-aware cylindrical tracking-by-detection framework that jointly models panoramic topology and temporal depth consistency. Depth-Temporal Trajectory Modeling (DTM) maintains instance depth and its rate of change as filtered trajectory states. Spherical Spatio-Temporal Consistency Learning (SSTC) combines a Temporal Mixer with Spherical Geometry-aware Attention to refine depth-aware representations. A Topology-Aware Cylindrical Motion Model (TCMM) represents horizontal motion in an unwrapped angular state and incorporates periodic overlap, angular consistency, and filtered depth cues into association. Experiments on QuadTrack and JRDB demonstrate improved identity consistency and trajectory continuity, with HOTA scores of 33.67 and 31.12 and IDF1 scores of 40.45 and 34.33, respectively. The framework processes 28.56 and 21.34 frames per second, respectively, on an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 GPU under the reported evaluation settings. These results support persistent panoramic multi-object tracking for mobile robot perception. The source code will be released at https://github.com/warriordby/CylindTrack.

MASS: Multi-mask Selective Self-Distillation for Leakage-Resilient Reasoning

Xiuqi Liu, Oveys Delafrooz Noroozi, Upamanyu Madhow

On-policy self-distillation enables the same model to act as student and teacher, with dense token-level supervision obtained by the teacher being given access to privileged information. However, conditioning the teacher on a single reference can concentrate its predictions on one reasoning trajectory and limit transfer to the student. We propose Multi-Mask Selective Self-Distillation (MASS), which approximates the unavailable marginal over diverse reference realizations using multiple independently masked views of one verified solution. MASS aggregates these complementary teacher predictions, selectively transfers reliable token-level corrections, and adaptively focuses masking on influential reference spans. Across mathematical reasoning benchmarks and model families, MASS consistently outperforms strong self-distillation baselines.

Where Should the Evaluation Budget Go in LLM-Driven Agent Scaffold Evolution?

Sichun Luo, Yi Huang, Mukai Li, Haochen Luo, Guanzhi Deng, Haibo Wang, Jian Xu, Zefa Hu 等 10 位作者

Large language model (LLM)-driven agent scaffold evolution improves agent workflows through iterative candidate generation and evaluation. Evaluation both guides subsequent search and determines the final scaffold, but evaluating every candidate on the full task set incurs substantial execution costs. We investigate how evaluation budgets can be allocated across these two roles. Our experiments show that sparse feedback can sustain productive evolution, while additional targeted evaluation improves final selection. Replay analyses further show that shared informative items and a common scoring reference support comparisons among closely matched candidates. Motivated by these findings, we propose \method, an evaluation allocation framework that combines sparse search-time feedback with targeted final confirmation. A short fully evaluated warm-up establishes a shared informative core and calibrates a response model whose item parameters remain fixed during search. After search, \method refits the model and applies paired successive halving, reusing accumulated observations and executing only missing evaluations. Across four benchmarks and two evolution frameworks, \method achieves higher mean performance than full evaluation in most settings while using approximately half as many evaluation cells.

FOCUS: Active Critic Learning for Long-Horizon Language Model Agents

Zhengping Jiang, William Jurayj, Liaoyaqi Wang, Chunsheng Zuo, Anqi Liu, Benjamin Van Durme

Sparse outcome rewards make it difficult for long-horizon language-model agents to assign credit to earlier actions. Learned critics provide value estimates for intermediate states, but these estimates can be inaccurate, while estimating intermediate values with repetitive continuation samples from points within a trajectory incurs substantial costs. To mitigate these issues, we introduce FOCUS, an RL method that uses selective branching to help the critic network learn its value estimator. The rollout controller facilitates active learning for the critic by sampling continuations from states that are expected to most reduce the critic's estimation error. These refined value estimates then score the segment between consecutive states with a TD($λ$) advantage, while the sampled evidence supplies training targets for the critic. FOCUS supports long-horizon agentic reinforcement learning through a modular context-management interface that decouples context management from rollout allocation. Our experiments show that using compaction-induced segment boundaries for value estimation and credit assignment, FOCUS outperforms GRPO and VinePPO with matched per-step generation budgets on legal reasoning, deep search, and code localization benchmarks, improving held-out accuracy at Qwen3.5-9B scale by 7.2 points over the strongest baseline on BrowseComp-Plus (55.4 vs. 48.2) and by 4.1 points on DeonticBench (56.5 vs. 52.4).

Beyond Single-Attribute Auditing: A Configurable Multi-Attribute Benchmark for Intersectional Fairness in LLMs

Zheng Zhang, Yifan Wu, Yuxiang Zhou, Qi Liu, Qingyang Mao, Ning Li, Weibo Gao, Qiyuan Shi 等 10 位作者

Large language models (LLMs) are increasingly evaluated for fairness, yet most existing benchmarks audit one sensitive attribute at a time. This single-attribute paradigm can miss intersectional harms, where multiple attributes interact non-additively and produce failures that are invisible under marginal evaluation. We introduce ComFair, a configurable benchmark that converts existing fairness data into 479,066 controlled Dual- and Multi-attribute instances and pairs every augmented instance with its task-equivalent source. Across Recognition, Selection, Continuation, and Conversation, this pairing supports a unified audit of performance or bias-score shifts, how often added attributes introduce new errors or mask existing ones, and model-ranking stability. Experiments on ten LLMs show task- and subgroup-dependent sensitivity: discriminative tasks expose both transition directions even when aggregate changes are modest, generative tasks exhibit larger and directionally asymmetric shifts, and rankings vary with attribute composition. ComFair therefore provides a scalable controlled sensitivity audit---rather than a model of the natural joint distribution of identities---for testing the robustness of fairness-benchmark conclusions beyond single-attribute settings.

RealCLI: Toward a Unified Evaluation of Human-Agent Collaboration for CLI Agents

Yunqi Liu, Peiyu Wang, Bingli Wang, Leo Luo, Xuanwu Song, Xudong Ma, Hongxin Li, Yaxin Du 等 24 位作者

Command-line interface (CLI) agents increasingly execute longer-horizon tasks, yet existing benchmarks either assume that user instructions remain fixed throughout execution or evaluate task outcomes without capturing runtime collaboration quality. In this paper, we present REALCLI, a paired benchmark that unifies the evaluation of task execution and human-agent collaboration quality on realistic CLI tasks. To comprehensively measure collaboration, REALCLI builds a five-dimensional framework, operationalized into 22 sub-dimensions and 51 interaction scenario templates. REALCLI provides two modes for paired comparison: REALCLI-EXEC supplies complete specifications upfront, whereas REALCLI-COLLAB introduces a scripted user that delivers progressive information, corrections, constraint revisions, and authorization decisions. Evaluations reveal profound capability gaps in frontier agents: the best configuration attains an average score of only 49.2%, and when evaluated by the joint collaboration score ($J_{\mathrm{collab}}$), the peak performance reaches merely 37.6%. These results show that task effectiveness diverges sharply from collaboration quality, with models consistently struggling in steerability, trust calibration, and safety boundary management. REALCLI provides a rigorous, reproducible foundation for measuring and advancing collaborative CLI agents.

Semantically Comprehensive Token Pruning in LVLMs via Maximizing Concept Coverage

Xueting Li, Qi Liu, Chenghao Xu Hohai University, Xu Yang, Guangtao Lyu, Jiahua Li Xidian University, Cheng Deng

High-resolution visual tokens impose substantial computational burdens owing to extreme redundancy in Large Visual Language Models (LVLMs). Existing visual token pruning methods typically leverage simple metrics derived from human experience, such as attention or similarity, to rank and select tokens within a highly entangled feature space. However, these metrics lack interpretability and often introduce human bias, failing to capture the genuine semantic significance of tokens, especially amidst the inherent semantic complexity and ambiguity of visual tokens. To mitigate this limitation, we propose a novel Semantically Comprehensive Token Selection (SCTS) method for unbiased, interpretable visual token pruning via a concept-driven paradigm. To unravel the model’s intrinsic semantic representation mechanism, we first introduce a Sparse Autoencoder to disentangle visual features into an interpretable space, with each dimension encoding a distinct semantic concept. We then formulate the token pruning task as a Maximum Concept Coverage problem, quantifying the Marginal Semantic Gain (MSG) of each token’s contribution to uncovered concepts and iteratively selecting tokens with the highest MSG. This concept-centric approach prioritizes tokens with unique semantic contributions, guaranteeing semantic comprehensiveness while preserving robust performance even at high compression ratios. Extensive experiments across multiple LVLM architectures and benchmarks verify that SCTS consistently outperforms state-of-the-art approaches, achieving a superior trade-off between computational efficiency and semantic completeness.

LongTutor: Benchmarking Large Language Models for Long-term Personalized Tutoring

Ning Li, Zheng Zhang, Zhenya Huang University of Science and Technology of China, Rui Li, Yi Zhan, Yinbo Luo, Qi Liu University of Science and Technology of China, Enhong Chen University of Science and Technology of China

The rapid advancement of large language models (LLMs) has driven the deployment of LLM-based AI tutors on online learning platforms. This widespread adoption highlights an urgent need for systematic benchmarks to evaluate their tutoring capabilities. However, existing evaluations predominantly focus on isolated, short-term interactions, overlooking the inherently long-term nature of learning. To bridge this gap, we introduce LongTutor, a benchmark for long-term personalized tutoring grounded in formative assessment theory. Built from expert-annotated real-world learning logs, LongTutor evaluates LLMs across three progressive tasks: historical evidence acquisition, knowledge state diagnosis, and adaptive teaching action. Our experiments reveal a critical capability mismatch: while LLMs excel at evidence acquisition, they struggle to effectively leverage long-term history for accurate diagnosis and adaptive teaching. To enable scalable benchmark expansion, we further propose an automated generator–verifier pipeline, paving the way toward truly long-term AI tutoring systems.

Controllable Contamination Detection for Reliable LLM Evaluation with Statistical Guarantees

Zheng Zhang, Qi Liu University of Science and Technology of China, Siyuan Liang Nanyang Technological University, Ning Li, Zirui Hu Nanyang Technological University, Weibo Gao University of Science and Technology of China, Rui Li, Zhenya Huang University of Science and Technology of China 等 11 位作者

Large language models (LLMs) have achieved remarkable performance across diverse tasks, largely driven by large-scale pretraining. However, this data abundance introduces test data contamination, where benchmark datasets overlap with pretraining corpora, undermining the reliability of model evaluation by confounding memorization with genuine generalization. To mitigate this issue, existing training data detectors attempt to identify clean (unseen) samples from contaminated test sets, but often suffer from residual contamination due to the black-box nature of LLMs. As a result, contaminated data may be mistakenly retained, leading to unreliable evaluation. To address this challenge, we propose FTD (FDR-controlled Training Data detection), a principled framework that detects and filters contaminated evaluation data while providing a statistical guarantee: the proportion of contaminated samples mistakenly retained as clean, the false discovery rate (FDR), is provably controlled below a user-specified threshold. FTD combines multiple complementary detectors via an adaptive weighting strategy, and we theoretically show it achieves high statistical power under valid FDR control. Extensive experiments on real-world benchmarks demonstrate that FTD significantly reduces residual contamination compared to existing methods while preserving evaluation consistency.

ShopSimulator: Evaluating and Exploring RL-Driven LLM Agent for Shopping Assistants

Pei Wang, Yanan Wu Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications, Xiaoshuai Song, Weixun Wang Alibaba Group, Gengru Chen Alibaba Group, Zhongwen Li, Kezhong Yan, Qi Liu 等 16 位作者

Large language model (LLM)-based agents are increasingly deployed in e-commerce shopping. To perform thorough, user-tailored product searches, agents should interpret personal preferences, engage in multi-turn dialogues, and ultimately retrieve and discriminate among highly similar products. However, existing research has yet to provide a unified simulation environment that consistently captures all of these aspects, and always focuses solely on evaluation benchmarks without training support. In this paper, we introduce ShopSimulator, a large-scale and challenging Chinese shopping environment. Leveraging ShopSimulator, we evaluate LLMs across diverse scenarios, finding that even the best-performing models achieve less than 40% full-success rate. Error analysis reveals that agents struggle with deep search and product selection in long trajectories, fail to balance the use of personalization cues, and to effectively engage with users. Further training exploration provides practical guidance for overcoming these weaknesses, with the combination of supervised fine-tuning (SFT) and reinforcement learning (RL) yielding significant performance improvements.

Disco-RAG: Discourse-Aware Retrieval-Augmented Generation

Dongqi Liu, Hang Ding, Qiming Feng, Xurong Xie, Zhucun Xue, Chengjie Wang Shanghai Jiao Tong University and Tencent YouTu Lab, Jian Li Tencent Youtu, Jiangning Zhang 等 9 位作者

Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) has emerged as an important means of enhancing the performance of large language models (LLMs) in knowledge-intensive tasks. However, most existing RAG strategies treat retrieved passages in a flat and unstructured way, which prevents the model from capturing structural cues and constrains its ability to synthesize knowledge from dispersed evidence across documents. To overcome these limitations, we propose Disco-RAG, a discourse-aware framework that explicitly injects discourse signals into the generation process. Our method constructs intra-chunk discourse trees to capture local hierarchies and builds inter-chunk rhetorical graphs to model cross-passage coherence. These structures are jointly integrated into a planning blueprint that conditions the generation. Experiments on question answering and long-document summarization benchmarks show the efficacy of our approach. Disco-RAG achieves state-of-the-art results on the benchmarks without fine-tuning. These findings underscore the important role of discourse structure in advancing RAG systems.

Despite representing nearly one-third of the world’s languages, African languages remain critically underserved by modern NLP technologies, with 88% classified as severely underrepresented or completely ignored in computational linguistics. We present the African Languages Lab (All Lab), a comprehensive research initiative that addresses this technological gap through systematic data collection, model development, and empirical analysis. Our contributions include: (1) a quality-controlled data collection pipeline, yielding the largest validated African multi-modal speech and text dataset spanning 40 languages with 19 billion text tokens and 12,628 hours of aligned speech data; (2) extensive experimental validation demonstrating that even modest-scale models, when fine-tuned on targeted language data, achieve substantial improvements over untrained baselines, averaging +23.69 ChrF++, +0.33 COMET, and +15.34 BLEU points across 31 evaluated languages; and (3) a comparative analysis against Google Translate in which a 1B-parameter model matched or surpassed the commercial system in several languages including Yoruba and Twi, revealing that data scarcity, rather than model scale, constitutes the primary bottleneck for low-resource NLP, and suggesting that systematic dataset development yields disproportionate returns for low-resource languages.

GUIDE: Towards Scalable Advising for Research Ideas

Yaowenqi Liu, Bingxu Meng, Rui Pan University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Yuxing Liu University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Jerry Huang, Jiaxuan You, Tong Zhang UIUC

The field of AI research is advancing at an unprecedented pace, enabling automated hypothesis generation and experimental design across diverse domains such as biology, mathematics, and artificial intelligence. Despite these advancements, there remains a significant gap in the availability of scalable advising systems capable of providing high-quality, well-reasoned feedback to refine proposed hypotheses and experimental designs. To address this challenge, we explore key factors that underlie the development of robust advising systems, including model size, data reweighting, context length, confidence estimation, and structured reasoning processes. Our findings reveal that a relatively small model, when equipped with a well-compressed literature database and a structured reasoning framework, can outperform powerful general-purpose language models such as Deepseek-R1 in terms of acceptance rates for self-ranked top-30% submissions to ICLR 2025. Moreover, when limited to high-confidence predictions, our system achieves an acceptance rate exceeding 90% on the ICLR 2025 test set, underscoring its potential to significantly enhance the quality and efficiency of hypothesis generation and experimental design.

To close the gap between LLM-based agents and humans in planning and reasoning, agents need large-scale, diverse environments for continuous learning—yet building such environments is itself prohibitively expensive. We present C-World, an environment creation system that enables users to build agent environments on demand. We define a complete agent environment through four components: an Action Space of 5,571 format-unified tools across 204 common applications, a Task Distribution engine that synthesizes long-horizon workflows with wild constraints, a Transition Function implemented as a state controller that injects realistic failures and perturbations, and a Reward Signal combining verifiable metrics with LLM-based judgment. C-World operates in two modes: a realistic mode grounded in live API execution, and a synthesized mode powered by the World Engine, which approximates tool behavior without live service access, enabling scalable environment creation—including environments for domains and tools that do not yet exist in the real world. Evaluation of nine state-of-the-art LLMs reveals that planning ability is uniformly strong but execution remains the bottleneck, and that constraint following—not tool invocation—is the dominant failure mode. The World Engine achieves Spearman \rho = 0.883 ranking correlation with real execution, and fine-tuning on just 1,170 C-World trajectories outperforms baselines trained on 119k samples, demonstrating C-World’s dual value as a rigorous evaluation environment and a scalable data engine. Our code and data are available at https://ziqiao-git.github.io/C-World/.

AgentGym2: Benchmarking Large Language Model Agents in De-Idealized Real-World Environments

Zhiheng Xi, Dingwen Yang, Jiaqi Liu, Jixuan Huang Fudan University, Honglin Guo Fudan University, Baodai Huang, Tinggang Chen, Qi Zhang 等 25 位作者

Language agents, i.e., LLM agents, progress rapidly and are increasingly deployed in production environments. This trend underscores the urgent need for rigorous and realistic evaluations. However, most existing benchmarks evaluate agents in simplified, idealized settings. They typically rely on pre-packaged tool interfaces, overlook critical steps, and assume inputs are clean and fully specified. Consequently, they understate the difficulty of real deployments, where uncertainty and noise are ubiquitous and agents must proactively explore the environment to uncover new tools. To bridge this gap, we present AgentGym2, a new evaluation framework with task instances grounded in real-world end-to-end working demands. Beyond reasoning and planning, it measures agents’ ability to execute end-to-end procedures, discover tools via exploration, compose tools for unseen tasks, and remain robust to noisy and underspecified information. Experiments on 15 proprietary and open-source models show that even SOTA systems like Gemini and GPT-5 struggle on AgentGym2, revealing a substantial gap between the capability of current agents and the demands of real-world applications.

EconProver: Towards More Economical Test-Time Scaling for Automated Theorem Proving

Mukai Li, Linfeng Song Google, Zhenwen Liang Tencent AI Lab, Jiahao Xu Tencent AI Lab, Shansan Gong, Qi Liu University of Hong Kong, Haitao Mi Tencent AI Lab, Dong Yu CapitalOne

Large Language Models (LLMs) have recently advanced the field of Automated Theorem Proving (ATP), attaining substantial performance gains through widely adopted test-time scaling strategies, notably reflective Chain-of-Thought (CoT) reasoning and increased sampling passes. However, they both introduce significant computational overhead for inference. Moreover, existing cost analyses typically regulate only the number of sampling passes, while neglecting the substantial disparities in sampling costs introduced by different scaling strategies. In this paper, we systematically compare the efficiency of different test-time scaling strategies for ATP models and demonstrate the inefficiency of the current state-of-the-art (SOTA) open-source approaches. We then investigate approaches to significantly reduce token usage and sample passes while maintaining the original performance. Specifically, we propose two complementary methods that can be integrated into a unified EconRL pipeline for amplified benefits: (1) a dynamic Chain-of-Thought (CoT) switching mechanism designed to mitigate unnecessary token consumption, and (2) Diverse parallel-scaled reinforcement learning (RL) with trainable prefixes to enhance pass rates under constrained sampling passes. Experiments on miniF2F and ProofNet demonstrate that our EconProver-GD achieves comparable performance to baseline methods with only 12% of the computational cost. This work provides actionable insights for deploying lightweight ATP models without sacrificing performance.

Computer-using agents powered by Vision-Language Models (VLMs) have demonstrated human-like capabilities in operating digital environments like mobile platforms. While these agents hold great promise for advancing digital automation, their potential for unsafe operations, such as system compromise and privacy leakage, is raising significant concerns. Detecting these safety concerns across the vast and complex operational space of mobile environments presents a formidable challenge that remains critically underexplored. To establish a foundation for mobile agent safety research, we introduce MobileRisk-Live, a dynamic sandbox environment accompanied by a safety detection benchmark comprising realistic trajectories with fine-grained annotations. Built upon this, we propose OS-Sentinel, a novel hybrid safety detection framework that synergistically combines a Formal Verifier for detecting explicit system-level violations with a VLM-based Contextual Judge for assessing contextual risks and agent actions. Experiments show that achieves 10%–30% improvements over existing approaches across multiple metrics. Further analysis provides critical insights that foster the development of safer and more reliable autonomous mobile agents. Our code, environment, and data are available at https://qiushisun.github.io/OS-Sentinel-Home/.

Cognitive Alpha Mining via LLM-Driven Code-Based Evolution

Fengyuan Liu, Yi Huang China Mobile Research Institute, Sichun Luo University of Hong Kong, Yuqi Wang, Yazheng Yang, Xinye Li, Zefa Hu Jiutian Research, China Mobile, Junlan Feng 等 9 位作者

Discovering effective predictive signals, or “alphas,” from financial data with high dimensionality and extremely low signal-to-noise ratio remains a difficult open problem. Despite progress in deep learning, genetic programming, and, more recently, large language model (LLM)–based factor generation, existing approaches still explore only a narrow region of the vast alpha search space. Neural models tend to produce opaque and fragile patterns, while symbolic or formula-based methods often yield redundant or economically ungrounded expressions that generalize poorly. Although different in form, these paradigms share a key limitation: none can conduct broad, structured, and human-like exploration that balances logical consistency with creative leaps. To address this gap, we introduce the Cognitive Alpha Mining Framework (CogAlpha), which combines code-level alpha representation with LLM-driven reasoning and evolutionary search. Treating LLMs as adaptive cognitive agents, our framework iteratively refines, mutates, and recombines alpha candidates through multi-stage prompts and financial feedback. This synergistic design enables deeper thinking, richer structural diversity, and economically interpretable alpha discovery, while greatly expanding the effective search space.Experiments on 5 stock datasets from 3 stock markets demonstrate that CogAlpha consistently discovers alphas with superior predictive accuracy, robustness, and generalization over existing methods. Our results highlight the promise of aligning evolutionary optimization with LLM-based reasoning for automated and explainable alpha discovery.

RAM-SD: Retrieval-Augmented Multi-agent framework for Sarcasm Detection

Ziyang Zhou, Ziqi Liu, Yan Wang, Yiming Lin, Yangbin Chen Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University

Sarcasm detection remains a significant challenge due to its reliance on nuanced contextual understanding, world knowledge, and multi-faceted linguistic cues that vary substantially across different sarcastic expressions. Existing approaches, from fine-tuned transformers to large language models, apply a uniform reasoning strategy to all inputs, struggling to address the diverse analytical demands of sarcasm. These demands range from modeling contextual expectation violations to requiring external knowledge grounding or recognizing specific rhetorical patterns. To address this limitation, we introduce RAM-SD, a Retrieval-Augmented Multi-Agent framework for Sarcasm Detection. The framework operates through four stages: (1) contextual retrieval grounds the query in both sarcastic and non-sarcastic exemplars; (2) a meta-planner classifies the sarcasm type and selects an optimal reasoning plan from a predefined set; (3) an ensemble of specialized agents performs complementary, multi-view analysis; and (4) an integrator synthesizes these analyses into a final, interpretable judgment with a natural language explanation. Evaluated on four standard benchmarks, RAM-SD achieves a state-of-the-art Macro-F1 of 77.74%, outperforming the strong GPT-4o+CoC baseline by 7.01 points. Our framework not only sets a new performance benchmark but also provides transparent and interpretable reasoning traces, illuminating the cognitive processes behind sarcasm comprehension.

Fisher-Driven Adaptive Locating for Knowledge Editing in Large Language Models

Chenghao Xu Hohai University, Jiexi Yan, Guangtao Lyu, Qi Liu, Muli Yang A*STAR, Cheng Deng

Large language models (LLMs) store extensive factual knowledge acquired during pretraining, yet this knowledge is inherently static and may become inaccurate or outdated, leading to knowledge hallucinations. Knowledge editing offers an efficient alternative to full retraining by enabling targeted factual updates while preserving overall model behavior. Existing locate-then-edit methods, however, rely on fixed layer selection strategies, treating the locating stage as a static design choice and failing to account for the hierarchical and instance-dependent nature of knowledge representation in LLMs. In this paper, we propose FiDAL, a Fisher-driven adaptation-aware locating strategy that dynamically identifies which model components should be edited for a given knowledge update. FiDAL formulates localization as a weight-level decision problem and leverages Fisher Information to select layers that are both influential and sensitive to factual modifications. A lightweight probing stage with low-rank modulation enables efficient localization with minimal overhead. Experiments on standard benchmarks demonstrate that FiDAL consistently improves editing effectiveness and knowledge preservation across multiple editing methods.

AutoResearchClaw: Self-Reinforcing Autonomous Research with Human-AI Collaboration

Jiaqi Liu, Shi Qiu, Mairui Li, Bingzhou Li, Haonian Ji, Siwei Han, Xinyu Ye, Peng Xia 等 36 位作者

Automating scientific discovery requires more than generating papers from ideas. Real research is iterative: hypotheses are challenged from multiple perspectives, experiments fail and inform the next attempt, and lessons accumulate across cycles. Existing autonomous research systems often model this process as a linear pipeline: they rely on single-agent reasoning, stop when execution fails, and do not carry experience across runs. We present AutoResearchClaw, a multi-agent autonomous research pipeline built on five mechanisms: structured multi-agent debate for hypothesis generation and result analysis, a self-healing executor with a \textsc{Pivot}/\textsc{Refine} decision loop that transforms failures into information, verifiable result reporting that prevents fabricated numbers and hallucinated citations, human-in-the-loop collaboration with seven intervention modes spanning full autonomy to step-by-step oversight, and cross-run evolution that converts past mistakes into future safeguards. On ARC-Bench, a 25-topic experiment-stage benchmark, AutoResearchClaw outperforms AI Scientist v2 by 54.7%. A human-in-the-loop ablation across seven intervention modes reveals that precise, targeted collaboration at high-leverage decision points consistently outperforms both full autonomy and exhaustive step-by-step oversight. We position AutoResearchClaw as a research amplifier that augments rather than replaces human scientific judgment. Code is available at https://github.com/aiming-lab/AutoResearchClaw.
