RoboSeed: Multidimensional Evaluation of Vision-Language-Action and World-Action Models: Capability, Resource Affordability, and Research Evidence

Choosing a robot action model requires evidence about task capability, adaptation cost, deployment requirements, and the reliability of reported conclusions. Success rates alone offer limited guidance to researchers with different computing budgets and goals. We propose RoboSeed, a multidimensional evaluation framework for vision-language-action (VLA) and world-action models (WAM), within a continuing program to train, evaluate, and openly release robot models with verifiable evidence for model selection. The framework defines five dimensions: capability, downstream training affordability, deployment affordability, locally verified research value, and reproduction evidence. It maps empirical measurements and audit criteria to 0-100 profiles using fixed normalization anchors, with balanced, training-constrained, and deployment-constrained preference settings. Interface and protocol checks establish when comparisons are appropriate. Missing measurements remain explicit, incomplete aggregate scores are withheld, and weighted input coverage identifies evidence gaps. We apply the framework to representative VLA and WAM models, drawing on local training, released-weight evaluation, task-level audits, and an evaluation-system study. The results reveal budget-dependent backbone choices, sensitivity to adaptation recipes, and differences between language and visual task interfaces. Reproducible scoring code and machine-readable evidence support extension to additional models. The study provides dimension-level assessments and priorities for further measurement, while incomplete serving traces and heterogeneous protocols preclude overall numerical rankings.

WorldProbe: When Video World Models Fall Apart under Long-Horizon Spatial Exploration

Minqi Wang, Jie Peng, Hejun Dong, Ruchang Yao, Puyi Wang, Siyuan Huang, Jihai Zhang, Yafu Li 等 11 位作者

Video world models generate future visual observations from camera or action inputs, with the goal of synthesizing persistent 3D worlds that can be explored across time and space. Existing benchmarks typically evaluate short interactions or rely on camera trajectories fixed before generation. The performance of video world models under long-horizon exploration with extensive camera motion remains under-explored. We introduce WorldProbe, a diagnostic benchmark that uses a goal-conditioned multimodal agent to adapt camera actions online during generation. WorldProbe comprises 164 test cases across four probing families. Across 10 state-of-the-art models, we generate more than 1,600 rollouts totaling approximately 800 minutes, with horizons up to 180 seconds. Our evaluation across four dimensions reveals both the degradation of local measures and the emergence of long-range inconsistencies. We find that recent models sustain visual and content quality for longer, while long-range memory and evolution remain weak. These results expose a gap between locally stable generation and persistent world consistency that is largely missed by existing benchmarks. Code and benchmark resources are available at https://github.com/Untitled-W/WorldProbe.

From Tokens to Structure: Investigating Visual Attention in Progressive Code Rendering

Xiaotian Su, Jan Brasser, David Robert Reich, Lena A. Jäger, April Yi Wang

AI coding interfaces present generated code either all at once or token-by-token. These rendering strategies reflect model generation rather than how programmers actually read code: selectively, non-linearly, and guided by the structure. We argue that code rendering is a first-class interaction primitive that shapes how programmers read and understand code. To explore this design space, we introduce structured rendering, a technique that reveals code in semantically meaningful chunks derived from its syntactic hierarchy, exposing high-level structure before low-level details. To isolate rendering effects on visual attention, we conducted an eye-tracking study with 53 participants comparing static, character-based, and structured rendering. Our findings show that rendering alters visual attention and reading behavior: dynamic rendering induces fewer but longer fixations and more sustained focus, while structured rendering further guides attention toward semantically meaningful units and supports high-level understanding. We release the anonymized dataset with an interactive demo (https://codegaze.vercel.app/) to support future research.

PixelPonder: Dynamic Patch Adaptation for Enhanced Multi-Conditional Text-to-Image Generation

Yanjie Pan, Qingdong He, Zhengkai Jiang, Pengcheng Xu, Chaoyi Wang, Jinlong Peng, Haoxuan Wang, Yun Cao 等 12 位作者

Recent advances in diffusion-based text-to-image generation have demonstrated promising results through visual condition control. However, existing ControlNet-like methods struggle with compositional visual conditioning - simultaneously preserving semantic fidelity across multiple heterogeneous control signals while maintaining high visual quality, where they employ separate control branches that often introduce conflicting guidance during the denoising process, leading to structural distortions and artifacts in generated images. To address this issue, we present PixelPonder, a novel unified control framework, which allows for effective control of multiple visual conditions under a single control structure. Specifically, we design a patch-level adaptive condition selection mechanism that dynamically prioritizes spatially relevant control signals at the sub-region level, enabling precise local guidance without global interference. Additionally, a time-aware control injection scheme is deployed to modulate condition influence according to denoising timesteps, progressively transitioning from structural preservation to texture refinement and fully utilizing the control information from different categories to promote more harmonious image generation. Extensive experiments demonstrate that PixelPonder surpasses previous methods across different benchmark datasets, showing superior improvement in spatial alignment accuracy while maintaining high textual semantic consistency.

Ask to Evolve: A Unified Harness for Lifelong Embodied Navigation with Hybrid Action Space and Persistent Memory

Kai Sheng, Liuyi Wang, Jinlong Li, Haojie Dai, Chengju Liu, Qijun Chen

Giving embodied agents the freedom to act autonomously, initiate interactions, and understand their surroundings through experience is a step toward bringing them to life in the physical world. Realizing this vision requires action, interaction, and memory to work together, so that each encounter can inform current decisions and contribute experience for future tasks. We present EvoLife, a unified navigation harness that enables a multimodal embodied agent to choose how to move, when to ask, and what experience to carry forward. Its hybrid action space supports waypoint navigation, local discrete adjustments, pixel-based navigation, and object-directed navigation. Active interaction allows the agent to seek clarification or assistance when it encounters ambiguity or difficulty, while persistent spatial memory binds observations and dialogue to places, retaining useful experience to guide subsequent visits. We evaluate eight benchmarks across four task families: vision-language navigation, object navigation, interactive instance navigation, and continuous multi-task navigation. With an average of only 1.87 active interactions per episode, our method achieves a first-visit success rate (SR) of 100% across four 100-episode sets spanning vision-language navigation and object navigation. Complete-sequence SR reaches 98% on 50 LHPR-VLN sequences and 94% on 50 GOAT-Bench sequences. In the R2R revisit setting, success weighted by path length (SPL) increases from 82.23% to 93.31% with retained experience. Multi-day physical navigation further demonstrates exploration, proactive help-seeking, and revisiting remembered places. Together, these results advance the vision of bringing embodied agents to life through autonomous action, proactive interaction, and the accumulation and reuse of experience.

Unlimited OCR Works 2

Shu Wei, Jingjing Wu, Qunyi Xie, Lingshu Zhang, Xiangcheng Du, Yannian Fu, Mengjie Wang, Zuyi Wang 等 12 位作者

Unlimited OCR ushers the era of long-horizon parsing, substantially mitigating the growth of working memory as document lengthens. However, as document length scales to hundreds of pages, the visual context grows substantially, sharply increasing the computational cost of each decoding step and limiting the scalability of ultra-long document parsing. Inspired by human book transcription via localized focus without re-scanning preceding pages, we introduce Unlimited OCR 2, a document parsing model that looks only at what it transcribes. Building on Unlimited OCR, we upgrade all the decoder attention modules to Sparse Reference Sliding Window Attention (SR-SWA), bounding active reference tokens to a fixed capacity and thus sustaining constant computational costs across arbitrarily long documents. By combining SR-SWA with Unlimited-Horizon Decoding Paradigm, Unlimited OCR 2 enables document parsing over virtually unlimited lengths without prohibitive memory overhead. At the hundred-page scale, Unlimited OCR 2 achieves 7.0$\times$ and 5.6$\times$ per-step speedups over Full Attention and R-SWA, respectively. Furthermore, it delivers state-of-the-art end-to-end performance on both MPDocBench and MarathonDocBench, our newly proposed benchmark targeting hundred-page document parsing. Ultimately, the capacity for uninterrupted, one-shot document parsing signifies a fundamental paradigm shift into the OCR 3.0 era.

InHabit: Scaling 3D Human-Scene Interaction Data With Image Foundation Models

Nikita Kister, Pradyumna YM, István Sárándi, Jiayi Wang, Anna Khoreva, Gerard Pons-Moll

Embodied AI and human-centric 3D scene understanding require data of people meaningfully interacting with diverse environments, yet such data remains scarce. Real-world capture has steadily pushed toward more scenes, but is bound to studios and at most around a hundred scenes, while synthetic datasets scale easily but place people without regard to what the scene affords. We argue that useful human-scene interaction data requires diversity in both scenes and interactions, and we show this with our proposed data engine InHabit. InHabit is a fully automatic engine that renders an existing 3D scene, uses 2D foundation models to propose and depict context-appropriate interactions, and lifts them into SMPL-X bodies, where the known scene geometry makes lifting well-constrained. Applied to Habitat-Matterport3D, InHabit produces InHabitants, which pairs photorealistic images with SMPL-X bodies and complete scene geometry across ~6.6k rooms, about 60x more scenes than the largest captured dataset. We illustrate the quality and value of such large-scale human-scene interaction data through a variety of experiments. In a perceptual study, our interactions are preferred over two prior placement methods in 78% of cases. Across three tasks - 1) contact estimation, 2) human-scene reconstruction, and 3) generating humans in scenes - training with InHabitants outperforms training on synthetic data with exact ground truth (BEDLAM), motion-capture data (TRUMANS), and real RGB-D captures (PROX); e.g., GRAFT trained on InHabitants reaches a contact F1 of 0.594 on PROX, versus 0.492 when trained on PROX itself. Efficient Agentic Audio-Visual Question Answering through Toolset Pruning and Modality Consolidation

Yi Wang, Tianzi Wang, Peter Bell

Fine-grained audio-visual question answering (AVQA) requires models to resolve complex cross-modal correspondences and temporally grounding from sparsely distributed evidence. Omni-modal agents, which autonomously orchestrate perception tools to actively collect evidence, achieve strong performance, but it remains unclear whether active perception from both audio and visual modalities depends on broad specialized toolsets, especially audio or visual modality-specific tools. Such systems may also introduce long execution trajectories and substantial inference cost. We investigate whether comparable performance can be retained with a compact workflow exposing only essential perceptual capabilities. Starting from the specialized-tool OmniAgent, we conduct staged controlled experiments that prune the toolset and progressively consolidate modality-specific tools into omni-modal tools, motivating a two-tool agent comprising only Omni-modal captioning and Omni-modal QA. Across three widely used AVQA benchmarks, our compact agent achieves comparable or better accuracy than the specialized-tool agent while reducing inference cost by around 70%.

What Should a Navigator Remember? Spatiotemporal Memory for Zero-Shot Vision-Language Navigation

Yuhang Peng, Zhikai Wang, Ziyi Wang, Jiaru Zhong, Xiaoji Zheng, Jingzhi Huang, Yi Wang, Jiangtao Gong

Zero-shot vision-and-language navigation (VLN) requires an agent to use past observations without navigation-specific training. We study what information an 8B-scale navigation system should retain and how it should be organized for subsequent decisions. Our agent combines instruction progress, hierarchically compressed observation history anchored to poses, and accumulated geometry in complementary task, temporal, and spatial memories. An 8B observer summarizes observations, and an 8B reasoner uses the memories to select waypoint intents or request additional views, a geometric controller executes the selected targets. A semantic information perspective motivates the distinction between retaining evidence, making it accessible to the reasoner, and acquiring further observations. On R2R-CE val-unseen, the complete system achieves the highest among the evaluated Qwen3-based zero-shot baselines. Removing temporal memory reduces SR and sharply increases average path length from 16.9 to 39.1m, removing the spatial-map and planning component reduces SR as well. Real-world experiments on a Unitree Go2 show that our zero-shot method achieves higher success rates than the post-trained baseline in both corridor and office environments, suggesting better transfer to the evaluated real-world settings. As a complementary evaluation, LAW2 uses paired instruction interventions to examine behavioral responses, instruction following ability beyond endpoint success. These results support preserving task progress, observation history, and geometry in structured memory for zero-shot navigation with smaller open models.

Towards Generalizing Pretrained All-Atom Representations to Unified Binder Design

Maojiang Su, Jiale Chen, Qijie Zhu, Shang Wu, Jiayi Wang, Jihai Zhao, Guo Ye, Yibo Wen 等 9 位作者

PairFormer-based all-atom models demonstrate strong capabilities in biomolecular binder design. However, existing methods often use all-atom representations for modality-specific binder design, such as protein and peptide design. In contrast, recent geometric latent diffusion models pursue unified binder design by representing molecular blocks from different modalities in a shared latent space. These complementary strengths motivate us to investigate how to generalize the use of pretrained all-atom representations to unified binder design. We introduce PairFuse, a parameter-efficient method that enables this generalization through representation fusion. Specifically, we use lightweight layerwise adapters to integrate pretrained all-atom representations into an independently pretrained geometric latent diffusion model. Our adapters integrate pretrained all-atom representations through two mechanisms: enriching the diffusion model's molecular block features and incorporating pairwise structural information into the geometric diffusion model's denoiser. Theoretically, we prove that the augmented denoiser preserves geometry and pairwise attention fusion provides additional attention expressivity beyond feature-only fusion. Experimentally, across antibody, peptide, and small molecule binder-design benchmarks, PairFuse achieves stronger performance than the pretrained diffusion model and existing representation-fusion baselines.

SAG-Sep: Sparse Augmented Graphs and Onion-Guided Search for Rounded Capacity Cut Separation

Haoran Liu, Guanyi Wang, Yu Yang

Rounded capacity cuts (RCCs) are among the most effective cuts for capacitated vehicle-routing relaxations, but exact separation is computationally prohibitive at scale. Existing heuristic and neural separators can be fast, but often fail to produce sufficiently many effective cuts within practical separation budgets. We introduce SAG-Sep, a separator that scores node membership in RCC-inducing subsets across vehicle-count levels from a fractional LP solution in a single encoder forward pass, avoiding the iterative predict-and-coarsen inference used by NeuralSEP-style separators. SAG-Sep encodes the LP solution as a Sparse Augmented Graph (SAG), adding flow-informed multi-hop edges that expose long-range routing structure without densifying attention. Beyond LP-aware sparse encoding, we observe that high-value exact RCCs are typically nested, organizing into onion-like subset families, and SAG-Sep's node scores track subset nesting depth. This motivates Onion-Sweep (OS), a training-free decoder that ranks customers by their scores, evaluates the RCC violation of every prefix of the ranking in one vectorized pass, and emits the most violated prefix of each replica together with a cross-replica family of nested proposals, converting independent node scores into structurally coordinated RCC candidates without a tuned threshold or probing band. On the NeuralSEP benchmark with N=1000 customer instances, SAG-Sep with OS reduces the average root gap by 17.7% relative to the strongest NeuralSEP baseline, while the single-pass SAG-Sep separator achieves a roughly 30-fold per-iteration neural separation speedup. Our findings suggest that LP-aware sparse encoding and the nested structure of high-value cuts are structural patterns worth leveraging in neural separation more broadly.

We present EmbeddingGemma 2, an open multimodal embedding model which natively represents text, images, audio, video, and combinations thereof in a unified space. Our approach introduces improvements such as simplified per-layer embeddings and a multi-stage curriculum with modality and objective progression which ensure strong quality across unimodal, cross-modal, and mixed-modal evaluations. Notably, in comprehensive embedding benchmarks across all modalities, EmbeddingGemma 2 establishes a new Pareto frontier, outperforming both specialist models and models two to twelve times larger. Furthermore, our design offers flexibility for resource-constrained environments, supporting selective modality encoder loading, adjustable vision token budgets, truncatable embedding dimensions, and quantized weights. We present ablations analyzing key decisions and release EmbeddingGemma 2 to promote further research.

FTP-1: A Generalist Foundation Tactile Policy Across Tactile Sensors for Contact-Rich Manipulation

Chengbo Yuan, Zicheng Zhang, Mingjie Zhou, Wendi Chen, Yi Wang, Zhuoyang Liu, Dantong Niu, Shuo Wang 等 17 位作者

Despite the success of vision-based generalist robotic policies, existing tactile-based policies remain tied to fixed embodiments and sensor setups. This is because tactile signals are highly heterogeneous across hardware, making cross-sensor generalization difficult. We present FTP-1,the first generalist foundation tactile policy pretrained to acquire transferable tactile manipulation abilities across diverse sensors and embodiments. FTP-1 supports varied tactile inputs, including image-, array-, and state-based signals, by using heterogeneous encoders to project them into unified morphology-aware latent tokens that are jointly modeled by a shared tactile Transformer expert. Pretrained on around 3,000 hours of tactile manipulation data aggregated from 26 data sources, spanning human and robot demonstrations across 21 sensors, FTP-1 learns tactile skills that transfer beyond the sensors seen during pretraining. Across downstream finetuning experiments spanning 5 hardware configurations, FTP-1 improves contact-rich manipulation on seen sensor setups by +17.2% and, surprisingly, transfers to two previously unseen tactile-sensor setups, achieving a +31% gain in success rate. FTP-1 establishes the first unified foundation baseline for tactile manipulation, providing future tactile policies with a shared model-level starting point. Firefly: Illuminating Large-Scale Verified Tool-Call Data Generation from Real APIs

Yuxuan Lu, Ziyi Wang, Yingzhou Lu, Yisi Sang, Jiri Gesi, Xianfeng Tang, Yimeng Zhang, Zhenwei Dai 等 15 位作者

Training tool-calling agents requires large-scale trajectory data with verifiable labels, yet existing approaches either synthesize environments that diverge from real API behavior or generate tasks without ground-truth outcomes for verification. We present FireFly, a pipeline for generating verified tool-call data from real-world MCP servers. Our key insight is to invert the standard synthesis pipeline: rather than generating tasks and hoping they are solvable, we first let a strong LLM explore real APIs along graph-guided DAG structures, then synthesize tasks backward from observed outcomes, guaranteeing label correctness by construction. To handle the scale of real-world tool spaces (${\sim}$1,000 tools), we build a pairwise tool graph and sample sub-DAGs to focus exploration on semantically coherent workflows. To address environment drift in live APIs, we construct a retrieval-augmented simulator that caches all exploration results and replays them during training and evaluation, enabling fully offline and reproducible RL. Applying this pipeline yields 5,144 verified tasks spanning 240 servers and 993 tools. A 4B-parameter model trained with GRPO on FireFly matches Claude Sonnet 4.6 on our held-out test set and shows improvements on multiple tool-calling benchmarks including Tau2-Bench, MCPMark, and MCP-Atlas.

From Short Video to Clickable Search: RLVR-Enabled Listwise Query Suggestion with Retrieval-Augmented Context

Mingkai Tian, Xuye, Long Meng, Liwei Chen, Zhiheng Qin, Yi Wang

Short-video platforms now present tappable search entries beneath the video player, making it effortless for users to shift from passively watching to actively searching for information. Prior work on bottom-bar query generation conditions on titles and OCR to generate a single query per forward pass, constrains decoding with a trie, and evaluates against a single reference using edit-distance–style supervision—making it difficult to cover the diverse intents a video can trigger and to credit semantically equivalent query variants. Motivated by these limitations, we propose four complementary improvements. First, we reformulate the task as one-shot list generation, producing multiple distinct queries per video, and build multi-query ground truth from exposure and CTR logs. Second, we redesign offline evaluation with \operatorname{CTR\text{-}HungF1}, a CTR-weighted set-matching metric via optimal assignment over token-level F1 score. Third, we enrich context with a video-to-video-to-query (V2V2Q) RAG pipeline to provide behavior-grounded background knowledge. Finally, we apply thinking-free RLVR with deterministic format checks and \operatorname{CTR\text{-}HungF1} rewards to train a compact LLM without reward models or CoT distillation. The resulting system yields strong offline and online improvements, and has been deployed on Kuaishou to serve hundreds of millions of users daily.

InsLogicBench: An Argumentation Logic Grounded Benchmark for Complex Insurance Claims Adjudication

Jin Liu, Yunpeng Liu, Keyi Wang, Jie Shi Fudan University, Xiao Xu, Wenkang Huang Ant Group, Xingzhong Xu Ant Group, Xin Liang Alibaba Group 等 9 位作者

Insurance claims adjudication demands not only accurate decisions but also interpretable reasoning grounded in policy clauses. However, existing benchmarks are limited to information retrieval or simple multiple-choice setups, which fail to require step-by-step inferences from facts to conclusions. To address this gap, we introduce InsLogicBench, a benchmark providing complete reasoning traces that link factual inputs, relevant policy clauses, and final verdicts. We construct the dataset using a controllable synthesis framework based on the Nested Toulmin Model. By capturing the defeasible logic of insurance policies through hierarchical truth assignment and enforcing validity via consistency verification, we ensure interpretability and logical rigor across generated examples. We evaluate eight Large Language Models (LLMs) on InsLogicBench. Results show significant difficulties in handling exception clauses and verifying missing conditions. Notably, models often produce correct final decisions but fail to provide precise justifications, highlighting a critical discrepancy between their decision accuracy and logical reasoning capabilities.

Mixture-of-Minds: Multi-Agent Reinforcement Learning for Table Understanding

Yuhang Zhou Meta, Mingrui Zhang, Ke Li, Mingyi Wang Facebook, Qiao Liu City University of New York, Qifei Wang, Jiayi Liu Meta Platforms Inc., Fei Liu Meta 等 15 位作者

Understanding and reasoning over tables is a critical capability for many real-world applications. Large language models (LLMs) have shown promise on this task, but current approaches remain limited. Fine-tuning based methods strengthen language reasoning; yet they are prone to arithmetic errors and hallucination. In contrast, tool-based methods enable precise table manipulation but rely on rigid schemas and lack semantic understanding. These complementary drawbacks highlight the need for approaches that integrate robust reasoning with reliable table processing. In this work, we propose MIXTURE-OF-MINDS, a multi-agent framework that decomposes table reasoning into three specialized roles: planning, coding, and answering. This design enables each agent to focus on a specific aspect of the task while leveraging code execution for precise table manipulation. Building on this workflow, we introduce a self-improvement training framework that employs Monte Carlo Tree Search (MCTS) rollouts to generate pseudo-gold trajectories and optimize agents with reinforcement learning (RL). Extensive experiments show that MIXTURE-OF-MINDS delivers substantial gains, reaching 62.13% on TableBench and surpassing GPT-o3-mini. These results demonstrate the promise of combining structured multi-agent workflows with RL to advance table understanding.

SpeechMedAssist: Efficiently and Effectively Adapting Speech Language Models for Medical Consultation

Sirry Chen, Jieyi Wang, Wei Chen Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Zhongyu Wei Fudan University

Medical consultations are intrinsically speech-centric. However, most prior works focus on long-text-based interactions, which are cumbersome and patient-unfriendly. Recent advances in speech language models (SpeechLMs) have enabled more natural speech-based interaction, yet the scarcity of medical speech data and the inefficiency of directly fine-tuning on speech data jointly hinder the adoption of SpeechLMs in medical consultation. In this paper, we propose SpeechMedAssist, a SpeechLM natively capable of conducting speech-based multi-turn interactions with patients. By exploiting the architectural properties of SpeechLMs, we decouple the conventional one-stage training into a two-stage paradigm consisting of (1) Knowledge Capability Injection via Text and (2) Modality Re-alignment with Limited Speech Data, thereby reducing the requirement for medical speech data to only 10k synthesized samples. To evaluate SpeechLMs for medical consultation scenarios, we design a benchmark comprising both single-turn question answering and multi-turn simulated interactions. Experimental results show that our model outperforms all baselines in both effectiveness and robustness in most evaluation settings.

SimPBL: A Multi-Agent Framework for Project-Based Learning

Daniel Zhang-Li, Joy Jia Yin Lim, Binglin Liu, Shangqing Tu, Zijun Yao, Hao Peng Tsinghua University, Tsinghua University, Jifan Yu, Haoxuan Li Tsinghua University 等 19 位作者

Project-Based Learning (PBL) is an important learning method that promotes understanding and acquiring practical skills through training learners through a project. However, effective PBL often requires sustained orchestration and collaboration, but existing LLM-based learning tools provide partial assistance without explicitly modeling these roles, and overly comprehensive help provided by LLM can reduce learner autonomy. We propose SimPBL, a multi-agent framework with an orchestrator agent that provides adaptive scaffolding from interaction logs and collaborator agents that support project work through boundary-aware collaboration. We conduct comprehensive evaluation to study the effectiveness of SimPBL, where we observe a 14% improvement in learner examination score. Results from extensive studies further highlights the ability of SimPBL to manage learning behavior and improve learning experience. Code and materials are available at https://anonymous.4open.science/r/SimPBL-D5B8.

SAME: Safety-Aware Model Editing Guided by Safety Transformation

Jiayi Wang Xi'an Jiaotong University, Shipeng Wang Xi'an Jiaotong University, Ji Wu, Jian Sun Xi'an Jiaotong University

Editing large language models is challenging as incorporating new knowledge often requires sequential parameter updates while maintaining model capability. In this work, we experimentally observe that sequential knowledge updating under the locate-then-edit framework can introduce safety risks, regardless of whether the knowledge being edited is benign or malicious. We propose a novel model editing approach that estimates safety transforms and identifies corresponding safety direction in the neural activation space, and then aligns neural activation updates and network parameter updates under the safety constraints, resulting in a safety-aware model editing approach. We evaluate our approach on open-source LLMs, Llama-3-8B-Instruct, Qwen3-4B-Instruct and Qwen2.5-14B-Instruct, using the benchmark datasets ZsRE and COUNTERFACT, as well as the malicious dataset Mal-KSet. Experimental results demonstrate that our approach effectively reduces unsafe responses to malicious queries while preserving the effectiveness of model editing.

ARCHITECT: Uncertainty-Aware Dynamic Tool Learning via Causal Intervention for Open-World Agents

Zhangyi Wang, Jiexiang Xu, Bingnan Yu, Zongze Li

Dynamic tool generation empowers Large Language Model (LLM) agents to synthesize tools on demand, yet a critical challenge remains: 32.4% of generated tools fail on first invocation. We present Causal Tool Diagnosis (CTD), a principled framework that moves beyond black-box reliability prediction to interpretable failure attribution. CTD constructs a Structural Causal Model (SCM) capturing how specification quality, code characteristics, and execution environment jointly determine tool outcomes. Uniquely leveraging code’s intervenability, we conduct controlled sandbox experiments to estimate causal effects—an advantage unavailable in pure text generation. CTD jointly predicts confidence (Spearman rank correlation coefficient \rho=0.90) and root cause attribution (78% accuracy), with attributions directly guiding targeted repairs (+9.6% success rate over error-type classification). Our ARCHITECT framework, integrating CTD throughout the tool lifecycle, achieves state-of-the-art on four benchmarks including StableToolBench (+3.8%), MINT (+4.6%), T-Eval (+3.7%), and SWE-bench Lite (+2.4%), with consistent improvements across all settings.

Action Boundary Blindness: When LLM Agents Cannot Tell Where One Action Ends and Another Begins

Zhangyi Wang, Bingnan Yu, Jiexiang Xu, Zongze Li

Large language model (LLM) agents excel at multi-step tasks yet frequently exhibit Action Boundary Blindness—the inability to correctly determine action granularity, scope, and completeness. Grounded in Event Segmentation Theory from cognitive science, we formalize three violation types: granularity confusion, scope creep, and boundary ambiguity. We propose four automatic metrics—Action Boundary Score (ABS), Granularity Alignment Rate (GAR), Scope Violation Rate (SVR), and Boundary-Aware Success Rate (BASR)—requiring no human annotation. Experiments on 1,655 tasks across six benchmarks (\tau-bench, WebArena, ALFWorld, TheAgentCompany, OSWorld) with seven LLMs reveal that: (1) the best model achieves only 0.424 ABS; (2) using a multi-label attribution framework validated by inter-annotator agreement (\kappa = 0.78), boundary blindness is the primary failure mode in 37.2% of failures (25.8% as sole cause; 55.9% total involvement including contributing factors); (3) under-action dominates at 48.4%; (4) BASR is consistently \sim4 points lower than traditional success rate, exposing “lucky successes.” Critically, Explicit Boundary Prompting (EBP) improves ABS by 0.08–0.13 across all models, demonstrating that boundary blindness is better characterized as an elicitation gap rather than a fundamental capability limitation—LLMs possess latent boundary perception not activated by default. This finding has implications for alignment and instruction tuning. We validate metrics through state-based cross-validation and human audit, estimating \sim22% false positive rate from valid alternative paths, with model rankings remaining stable (Spearman \rho = 1.0).

Evolutionary Negative Module Pruning for Better LoRA Merging

Anda Cao Zhejiang University, Zhuo Gou Zhejiang University, Yi Wang Zhejiang University, Kaixuan Chen, Yu Wang Zhejiang University, Can Wang, Mingli Song Zhejiang University, Jie Song Zhejiang University

Merging multiple Low-Rank Adaptation (LoRA) experts into a single backbone is a promising approach for efficient multi-task deployment. While existing methods strive to alleviate interference via weight interpolation or subspace alignment, they rest upon the implicit assumption that all LoRA matrices contribute constructively to the merged model. In this paper, we uncover a critical bottleneck in current merging paradigms: the existence of \textit{negative modules}—specific LoRA layers that inherently degrade global performance upon merging. We propose \textbf{E}volutionary \textbf{N}egative \textbf{M}odule \textbf{P}runing (\textbf{ENMP}), a plug-and-play LoRA pruning method to locate and exclude these detrimental modules prior to merging. By leveraging an evolutionary search strategy, ENMP effectively navigates the discrete, non-differentiable landscape of module selection to identify optimal pruning configurations. Extensive evaluations demonstrate that ENMP consistently boosts the performance of existing merging algorithms, achieving a new state-of-the-art across both language and vision domains. Code is available at https://github.com/CaoAnda/ENMP-LoRAMerging.

From ID to LLM: Rethinking Representation Learning for Recommendation

Song-Li Wu, Zhaocheng Du, Weinan Gan Huawei Noah's Ark Lab, Jingyi Wang Tsinghua University, Xianquan Wang

Recent studies indicate a fundamental incompatibility between ID representations and language model (LM) representations, as they capture behavioral and semantic spaces respectively. This mismatch leads LM representations to consistently underperform ID representations in recommendation tasks. In this work, we revisit this problem and show, from an information-theoretic perspective, that LLM representations retain all discriminative information in ID representations. Based on this, we introduce a Profile-then-Embedding (PtE) framework for recommendation, consisting of a Profile Stage, in which semantic user and item profiles are generated jointly through LLM-based bidirectional reasoning over user-item interactions, and a Personalized Embedding Stage, which encodes these profiles into task-aligned recommendation embeddings. We demonstrate PtE’s effectiveness across three benchmark datasets, including cold-start and long-tail scenarios, achieving substantial gains in both discriminative and generative recommendation models.

Despite representing nearly one-third of the world’s languages, African languages remain critically underserved by modern NLP technologies, with 88% classified as severely underrepresented or completely ignored in computational linguistics. We present the African Languages Lab (All Lab), a comprehensive research initiative that addresses this technological gap through systematic data collection, model development, and empirical analysis. Our contributions include: (1) a quality-controlled data collection pipeline, yielding the largest validated African multi-modal speech and text dataset spanning 40 languages with 19 billion text tokens and 12,628 hours of aligned speech data; (2) extensive experimental validation demonstrating that even modest-scale models, when fine-tuned on targeted language data, achieve substantial improvements over untrained baselines, averaging +23.69 ChrF++, +0.33 COMET, and +15.34 BLEU points across 31 evaluated languages; and (3) a comparative analysis against Google Translate in which a 1B-parameter model matched or surpassed the commercial system in several languages including Yoruba and Twi, revealing that data scarcity, rather than model scale, constitutes the primary bottleneck for low-resource NLP, and suggesting that systematic dataset development yields disproportionate returns for low-resource languages.

OPeRA: A Dataset of Observation, Persona, Rationale, and Action for Evaluating LLMs on Human Online Shopping Behavior Simulation

Can Large Language models (LLMs) accurately simulate the next web action of a specific user? While LLMs have shown promising capabilities in generating believable human behaviors, evaluating their ability to mimic real user behaviors remains an open challenge, largely due to the lack of high-quality, publicly available datasets that capture both the observable actions and the internal reasoning of an actual human user. To address this gap, we introduce OPeRA, a novel dataset of Observation, Persona, Rationale, and Action collected from real human participants during online shopping sessions. OPeRA is the first public dataset that comprehensively captures: user personas, browser observations, fine-grained web actions, and self-reported just-in-time rationales. We developed both an online questionnaire and a custom browser plugin to gather this dataset with high fidelity. Using OPeRA, we establish the first benchmark to evaluate how well current LLMs can predict a specific user’s next action and rationale with a given persona and history. This dataset lays the groundwork for future research into LLM agents that aim to act as personalized digital twins for human.

Trajectory2Task: Training Robust Tool-Calling Agents with Synthesized Yet Verifiable Data for Complex User Intents

Tool-calling agents are increasingly deployed in real-world customer-facing workflows. Yet most studies on tool-calling agents focus on idealized settings with general, fixed, and well-specified tasks. In real-world applications, user requests are often (1) ambiguous, (2) changing over time, or (3) infeasible due to policy constraints, and training and evaluation data that cover these diverse, complex interaction patterns remain under-represented.To bridge the gap, we present Trajectory2Task a verifiable data generation pipeline for studying tool use at scale under three realistic user scenarios: ambiguous intent, changing intent, and infeasible intents. The pipeline first conducts multi-turn exploration to produce valid tool-call trajectories. It then converts these trajectories into user-facing tasks with controlled intent adaptations. This process yields verifiable task that support closed-loop evaluation and training. We benchmark several state-of-the-art LLMs on the generated complex user scenario tasks and observe frequent failures. Finally, using successful trajectories obtained from task rollouts, we fine-tune lightweight LLMs and find consistent improvements across all three conditions, along with better generalization to unseen tool-use domains, indicating stronger tool-calling ability.

GUI0: Self-Evolving Foundational GUI Agents in Super App Ecosystems

Xinyi Wang, Wei Dai Wechat, Kyle Qiao, Ke Wang, Peng Chen, Gang Cao, Kang Qin, Zhongpu Wang WeChat 等 13 位作者

Automated interaction with graphical user interfaces (GUIs) is central to General Artificial Intelligence yet remains challenging within Super App ecosystems, characterized by non-standard rendering and absent accessibility metadata. While GUI agents often rely on explicit accessibility trees or static imitation, they are less explored for dynamic environments marked by sparse feedback and implicit visual cues. We present GUI0, a framework synergizing autonomous data synthesis with dual-agent co-evolution. GUI0 establishes a domain-aware foundation model via synthesized corpora and employs curriculum-driven reinforcement learning, where a curriculum agent generates boundary tasks to optimize an actor agent.Empirical results demonstrate three key advantages: (1) State-of-the-art performance on the SuperAPP benchmark, outperforming Gemini-2.5-Pro and Claude-4-Sonnet; (2) universal efficacy across diverse base models, consistently yielding substantial improvements on both Qwen2.5-VL and GUI-Owl variants; and (3) robust zero-shot generalization to standard GUIs (e.g., +62.7% on ScreenSpot Pro).

TriEx: A Game-based Tri-View Framework for Explaining Internal Reasoning in Multi-Agent LLMs

Ziyi Wang, Chen Zhang, Wenjun Peng University of Adelaide, Qi Wu The University of Adelaide, Xinyu Wang The University of Adelaide

Explainability for Large Language Model (LLM) agents is especially challenging in interactive, partially observable settings, where decisions depend on evolving beliefs and other agents. We present TriEx, a tri-view explainability framework that instruments sequential decision making with aligned artifacts: (i) structured first-person self-reasoning bound to an action, (ii) explicit second-person belief states about opponents updated over time, and (iii) third-person oracle audits grounded in environment-derived reference signals. This design turns explanations from free-form narratives into evidence-anchored objects that can be compared and checked across time and perspectives. Using imperfect-information strategic games as a controlled testbed, we show that TriEx enables scalable analysis of explanation faithfulness, belief dynamics, and evaluator reliability, revealing systematic mismatches between what agents say, what they believe, and what they do. Our results highlight explainability as an interaction-dependent property and motivate multi-view, evidence-grounded evaluation for LLM agents.
