Cyber-JEV: Matched Contrastive Fine-Tuning of Language Models for Fast Source-Code Vulnerability Triage

Zhuyi Zhao, Shengjie Yuan, Shengyu Wang, Kang Wei, Wang Yang, Wenchao Xu, Fushuo Huo

Single-pass scoring models such as Jev give each code function a vulnerability probability, so that security teams can rank many functions for review without generating written explanations. Training an open-weight model for this task is limited by data. Benchmarks with both vulnerable and non-vulnerable labels keep few vulnerable functions once examples related to the test data are removed, while larger public vulnerability records mostly contain vulnerable functions only. Mixing the two lets the data source predict the label, and training on the labeled data alone leaves a model that often scores a fixed function above its vulnerable original. We present Cyber-JEV, a fine-tuning method that uses fix commits to turn these records into comparison groups. Each group holds a vulnerable function, its patched version and up to two unchanged functions from the same file, so the model sees the change that removed a recorded defect. One shared model learns two tasks: classifying functions from the labeled reference data, and ranking the vulnerable function above the other members of its group. At test time the input is one function and the output is a vulnerability score. On a test benchmark of 7,270 functions, an ensemble of five fine-tuned Qwen3.5-4B models reaches an area under the receiver operating characteristic curve of 0.814, compared with 0.743 for Jev 1.13. With the 4,031 alerts of Jev as the review budget, it misses 16 of 322 vulnerable functions instead of 39. Compared with training on the reference data alone, it ranks the vulnerable version above the patched version 14.8 to 29.2 percentage points more often on three sets of real fixes. Such scores can order the changed functions of a pull request or a release for review under a fixed budget.

DuoBench: A Reproducible Benchmark for Bimanual Manipulation in Simulation and the Real World

Bimanual robot systems substantially expand manipulation capabilities, but coordinating two arms introduces additional control complexity and failure modes that are not well captured by existing benchmarks. We introduce DuoBench, an extensible benchmarking framework for bimanual manipulation policies on the FR3 Duo platform. DuoBench comprises eleven tasks spanning four coordination categories, implemented in simulation and partially replicated in the real world through reproducible task recipes with 3D-printable assets. In addition, we propose a stage-based evaluation scheme that supports fine-grained semantic failure analysis beyond binary success. It includes stage-conditional pass rates with confidence intervals as well as human-teleoperated datasets for all benchmark tasks. We benchmark several imitation-learning and vision-language-action policies in simulation and on real hardware. Our results show that current policies remain challenged by bimanual manipulation, particularly at the beginning of interaction, during parallel arm execution, and in sim-to-real transfer settings. We further find that simulation reveals the same failure modes as real-world experiments. DuoBench provides a reproducible testbed for analyzing them and studying future methods for dual-arm policy learning. Code, datasets, and videos are available at https://duobench.github.io

NeuralCrop: Combining physics and machine learning for improved crop modelling

Global gridded crop models (GGCMs) are crucial for projecting climate impacts on agricultural productivity and assessing associated risks to food security. However, state-of-the-art GGCMs are subject to substantial uncertainties arising from reduced representations of complex processes. Projected increases in the frequency and severity of climate extremes require more reliable agricultural yield simulations. Recent machine learning approaches trained on observational data provide alternatives to GGCMs, but remain under-constrained due to sparse observations and show poor out-of-distribution generalization. Here we introduce NeuralCrop, a differentiable hybrid GGCM that combines the strengths of an advanced process-based GGCM (LPJmL) with data-driven components. NeuralCrop is first trained to reproduce its underlying fully process-based version, before it is fine-tuned on observational flux data of physiological variables. Evaluation against held-out flux-tower observations from European wheat and US maize sites shows 32.6-45.2% reductions in mean normalized root-mean-square error for daily carbon and water fluxes. Although fine-tuned only on physiological variables, NeuralCrop improves temporal correlations with independent yield records across 71.4% of the cultivated area for European wheat and 84.0% for the US Corn Belt during 1981-2019. It performs highly competitively compared to GGCMI Phase~3 models. NeuralCrop reproduces yield anomalies more accurately across a range of soil-moisture conditions and especially for extreme drought conditions. For large-scale, long-term simulations, NeuralCrop runs nearly two orders of magnitude faster than the CPU-based LPJmL baseline model, mainly thanks to GPU acceleration. Our results highlight end-to-end hybrid crop modelling as a promising avenue for improving crop simulations and informing food security assessments under climate change.

Spatial-Frequency Learning for Scanning Transmission Electron Microscopy Image Enhancement

Hesong Li, Ying Fu, Ziqi Wu, Ruiwen Shao, Tao Zhang

Scanning Transmission Electron Microscopy (STEM) enables the observation of atomic arrangements at sub-angstrom resolution and plays a key role in the discovery and characterization of advanced materials. Raw STEM images are often noisy and blurred due to multiple degradations. Although recent deep learning methods improve STEM images, their performance remains limited under severe degradations. In this work, we propose a spatial-frequency learning framework for STEM image enhancement. Specifically, we design a spatial-frequency fusion network that exploits periodic atomic arrangements in the frequency domain and restores local atomic details in the spatial domain. Spatial- and frequency-domain features are enhanced separately and then fused. We also present a STEM noise calibration method for synthesizing more realistic STEM images. The parameters of scan noise, pointwise noise, and background noise are estimated through statistical analysis and fitting of real STEM images. Using these calibrated parameters, we construct a diverse dataset containing a wider range of atomic arrangements, imaging modes, and degradations. Random masks combine different atomic arrangements to simulate interfaces between multiple materials. Experimental results demonstrate that our method achieves state-of-the-art enhancement performance on synthetic datasets and real images of advanced materials while improving atomic localization accuracy.

Ownership Refinement Types for Pointer Arithmetic and Nested Arrays

Yusuke Fujiwara, Yusuke Matsushita, Kohei Suenaga, Atsushi Igarashi

Tanaka et al. proposed a type system for verifying functional correctness properties of programs that use arrays and pointer arithmetic. Their system extends ConSORT--a type system combining fractional ownership and refinement types for imperative program verification--with support for pointer arithmetic. Their idea was to extend fractional ownership so that it can depend on an array index. Their formulation, however, does not handle nested arrays, which are essential for representing practical data structures such as matrices. We extend Tanaka et al.'s type system to support nested arrays by allowing ownership to depend on the indices of enclosing arrays. We formalize the extended calculus in Rocq using a mixed embedding and provide a machine-checked proof of type soundness. We have implemented a verifier based on the proposed type system and demonstrated that it can verify the correctness of programs that manipulate nested arrays, which were beyond the reach of Tanaka et al.

VidPrism: Heterogeneous Mixture of Experts for Image-to-Video Transfer

Lin, Rui, Wang, Chuanming, Ma, Huadong

With the rapid development of pre-training technologies, adapting large-scale Vision-Language Models (VLMs) for video understanding i.e. image-to-video transfer learning has become a dominant paradigm. To achieve superior performance, it raises as an effective strategy among recent advances to employ Mixture-of-Experts (MoE) to enhance VLMs' temporal modeling capabilities. However, conventional MoE designs suffer from expert homogenization, where all experts act as identical generalists, inefficiently learning spatio-temporal features from undifferentiated video streams. To overcome this problem, we propose VidPrism, a novel heterogeneous temporal Mixture-of-Experts framework. VidPrism pioneers a division of labor by deploying functionally specialized experts, each assuming a role ranging from spatial understanding to temporal modeling. To feed these specialists appropriately, we introduce a content-aware, multi-rate sampling module that dynamically generates streams ranging from semantically rich to motion-focused representations, providing specialized inputs for experts.Furthermore, a dynamic, bidirectional fusion mechanism enables synergistic information exchange between these pathways, leading to a comprehensive video representation. Extensive experiments on various video recognition benchmarks demonstrate that VidPrism achieves state-of-the-art performance and effectively fosters expert specialization.

4C4D: 4 Camera 4D Gaussian Splatting

Zhou, Junsheng, Yang, Zhifan, Han, Liang, Zhang, Wenyuan, Shi, Kanle, Xu, Shenkun, Liu, Yu-Shen

This paper tackles the challenge of recovering 4D dynamic scenes from videos captured by as few as four portable cameras. Learning to model scene dynamics for temporally consistent novel-view rendering is a foundational task in computer graphics, where previous works often require dense multi-view captures using camera arrays of dozens or even hundreds of views. We propose 4C4D, a novel framework that enables high-fidelity 4D Gaussian Splatting from video captures of extremely sparse cameras. Our key insight lies that the geometric learning under sparse settings is substantially more difficult than modeling appearance. Driven by this observation, we introduce a Neural Decaying Function on Gaussian opacities for enhancing the geometric modeling capability of 4D Gaussians. This design mitigates the inherent imbalance between geometry and appearance modeling in 4DGS by encouraging the 4DGS gradients to focus more on geometric learning. Extensive experiments across sparse-view datasets with varying camera overlaps show that 4C4D achieves superior performance over prior art.
