Trainspotting:从发现照片中学习以物体为中心的三维重建

Trainspotting: Learning Object-Centric 3D Reconstruction from Found Photos

Hanyu Chen, Noah Snavely

State-of-the-art feedforward reconstruction models perform poorly on in-the-wild object-centric photo collections. They are trained largely on single-session object captures whose images vary in viewpoint while the object and its environment remain nearly fixed. Public photo archives contain a different form of multi-view data. They hold found photos of the same object or design: photos taken independently by many people across years, environments, cameras, and sometimes physical units. In this work, we introduce Trainspotting, a dataset of 12,068 objects and 311,886 photos from Wikimedia Commons. We reconstruct each object to recover camera poses, multi-view stereo depth, and object masks. We categorize the objects into three regimes: objects fixed at one site, objects that move between sites, and designs shared by many physical units. Evaluating recent feedforward reconstruction models on Trainspotting shows that they fail most severely in the last two regimes. Fine-tuning VGGT-$Ω$ on Trainspotting significantly improves camera pose, depth, and 3D geometry on held-out objects. We observe similar improvements on the independent NAVI in-the-wild benchmark, which contains photos of each object in different environments. Performance on conventional benchmarks remains largely unchanged.

Patch Attention Wisely: Understanding Patch Length in Attention-Based Forecasting

Junyu Chen, Likai Chen, Weining Wang

Attention-based time series forecasters commonly group consecutive observations into patches. Patch length is known to have a substantial impact on forecasting performance, yet its selection remains largely empirical. We develop a theoretical framework that explains why patch length matters for forecasting accuracy and provides a principled basis for its selection. For linear state-space models, we derive an exact factorization of the forecasting coefficient matrix that separates forecast dynamics from filtering dynamics. We show that dominance of a single forecast component at long horizons does not generally imply a rank-one representation. This explains why longer horizons alone need not reduce representational complexity. We combine the factorization with estimation bounds to develop a patch-selection criterion that balances representation and estimation errors under temporal dependence. Our analysis establishes conditions under which balanced patching is justified and clarifies how predictive structure, head count, training sample size, and long-run dependence enter the selection criterion.

Reinforcing End-to-End Autonomous Driving Safety via Negative-Aware Planning in a Unified World-Action Model

Zihao Zhang, Xinyu Zhang, Bing Zeng, Xingyu Chen, Zhenning Li, Bin Yu, Ziyuan Pu

World-action models (WAMs) jointly model future traffic states and driving actions for end-to-end autonomous driving in intelligent transportation systems. However, their action learning remains dominated by expert-trajectory imitation, leaving unsafe alternatives close to expert trajectories insufficiently constrained. To improve WAM robustness in safety-critical scenarios, we propose NegWAM, a safety post-training framework for unified WAMs that learns explicit safety boundaries from near-expert failure trajectories. NegWAM constructs negative trajectories that are geometrically close to the expert trajectory yet carry safety risks, uses them as repulsive anchors to steer predictions away from dangerous behavior, and encodes them as scene-conditioned rider tokens to learn scene--trajectory compatibility. During training, NegWAM jointly optimizes the flow-matching and near-expert negative objectives, while the auxiliary rider branch is discarded at inference, incurring no additional overhead. On NAVSIM v2, NegWAM achieves 40.4 EPDMS on navhard, a 4.1% relative improvement over the strongest compared scorer-free WAM baseline, and achieves 93.3 EPDMS on navtest. These results demonstrate that NegWAM achieves strong performance in safety-critical scenarios while preserving routine-driving performance. Zero-shot closed-loop evaluation on HUGSIM further demonstrates cross-benchmark generalization. The code is available at https://github.com/Zizizi-hao/NegWAM.

HITCH: Teaching a Vision-Language Model to Operate a Humanoid through a Whole-Body Harness

Qingzhou Lu, Chenxin Liu, Xinming Wang, Liu Cao, Yanjiang Guo, Mengdi Xu, Jianyu Chen

Enabling vision-language models (VLMs) to control humanoid robots requires both reliable whole-body interfaces and knowledge of how to use the body that carries over across tasks. We present HITCH (Harness Interfaces To Command Humanoids), a harness in which perception returns the 3D position of any point the VLM selects in its image, and execution turns commands for the pelvis, torso, hands, walking, and gaze into whole-body motion with a learned tracker. We find that both measuring the scene and executing commands accurately raise task success. We then fine-tune a VLM on trajectories in which teacher policies solve five base tasks through HITCH, so that it learns how to operate the humanoid. Without task-specific trajectories, the fine-tuned model completes 51% of SIMPLE episodes and 42.5% of HumanoidArena episodes, and adding five trajectories per SIMPLE task raises its SIMPLE success to 95%. On a real G1, it carries a box and walks to a goal without real training data.

GTAFL: Addressing Test-Agnostic Long-Tailed Federated Learning in Medical Image

Guangyu Chen, Jingyun Zeng, Hui Jiang

In healthcare, protecting patient privacy is crucial due to the sensitivity of medical data and its extensive accessibility. Federated Learning (FL) offers a decentralized and privacy-preserving training paradigm, making it an ideal solution for healthcare applications. A critical challenge in healthcare is that real-world medical data often exhibits long-tailed distributions in local and global views. Existing methods addressing long-tailed FL problem typically assume that the model will be evaluated on uniform test data distribution. However, practical test data in healthcare systems is often agnostic and unpredictable, leading to potential model failures in real-world scenarios. In this paper, we introduce a novel task termed Test-Agnostic Long-Tailed Federated Learning and propose GTAFL, a comprehensive framework to address this challenge. During the training stage, GTAFL employs adaptive re-sampling, expert classifier retraining, and self-supervised learning to correct biased classifiers and distorted feature spaces caused by long-tailed training distributions. During the inference stage, an ensemble mechanism combines retrained expert classifiers to handle test data with unknown distributions. Extensive experiments on CIFAR10 and two medical datasets manifest that our framework outperforms other state-of-the-art methods. The code is available at https://github.com/cgy-lavine/GTAFL

PlayGen2: Learning Real-Time Playable Worlds with Explicit 3D State

Jihai Zhang, Yuhan Zhou, Junyou Li, Deheng Ye, Qi Dou, Yu Cheng

Building a playable world requires more than generating plausible video: it demands responsive control, persistent spatial structure, and coherent interactions with dynamic entities. Using generated frames as the sole recurrent world representation ties these requirements to view-dependent appearance synthesis, making it difficult to maintain long-term spatial and temporal consistency in generation and interaction. We present PlayGen2, a real-time interactive world model that separates learned 3D state evolution from neural rendering. PlayGen2 maintains a persistent world memory comprising static geometry represented by a volumetric occupancy grid and identity-indexed 3D states for the player and other entities. Within a fixed-size local region, its world-state model jointly learns action-conditioned entity dynamics, geometry completion, and entity discovery, committing updates to a persistent world memory. A separate neural renderer synthesizes first-person observations from depth and semantic projections of the world state, without feeding generated images back into state prediction. Using Doom as a testbed, we demonstrate that the model successfully learns world dynamics including geometry-aware player motion and player--NPC interactions. The framework is computationally efficient, enabling the complete simulation and rendering pipeline to achieve approximately 160ms backend latency on a MacBook Pro with an M4 Pro chip. Beyond single-player interaction, we demonstrate zero-shot deployment on unseen Doom maps, multiplayer interaction through the composition of single-player models, and programmable gameplay through rule-based state interventions. These capabilities demonstrate the transferability and extensibility of the learned game-world model. Code and pretrained model weights are publicly available.

Learning Robotic World Models with Semantic and Visual Feedback

Hao Wu, Yuqi Li, Yizhou Zhao, Kun Wang, Xiao Luo, Yu Cheng, Bo An, Yingli Tian 等 10 位作者

Robot world models predict action-conditioned future visual states to support robotic planning and decision making. However, visual reconstruction does not fully capture task progress, semantic evaluation alone provides limited constraints on fine-grained visual errors, and homogeneous predictions limit comparative feedback. We present RoboImagine, a framework for post-training autoregressive robotic world models through candidate-future comparisons with semantic and visual feedback. Diverse search promotes diversity among candidate trajectories under shared visual observations, action sequences, and task instructions. A frozen multimodal evaluator provides task-relevant semantic preferences through pairwise video comparisons in both presentation orders, complemented by pixel- and perceptual-level visual consistency feedback that constrains local structural and appearance errors. These signals drive policy optimization through group-relative advantages. Fixed initial context and branch-specific rolling histories support long-sequence generation with bounded context and consistent conditioning between candidate generation and policy optimization. Experiments with separately trained models on RT-1, BridgeV2, and RoboCasa cover real-world and simulated manipulation. On RT-1, under matched initialization, update counts, and evaluation protocols, RoboImagine improves PSNR by 1.26 dB and reduces LPIPS by 11.93% relative to continued supervised fine-tuning. Ablations show that diverse search improves prediction quality and that combined semantic and visual feedback yields higher external multimodal evaluation scores than visual feedback alone while maintaining comparable visual fidelity. Rolling histories further improve long-horizon prediction. These results support improving visual fidelity, task relevance, and long-horizon prediction through candidate comparison and complementary feedback.

PFM-HR: Pose Flow Matching for Humanoid Robots

Yukang Gao, Yi Gu, Yangchen Zhou, Xingyu Chen, Zhaorui Wang, Fanghai Zhang, Hanyang Cao, Zhengyang Shen 等 12 位作者

Motion priors improve reinforcement learning for physics-based humanoid tracking, but temporal priors require ordered motion clips, while pose priors provide limited guidance for policy-induced pose transitions. We present Pose Flow Matching for Humanoid Robots (PFM-HR), a reusable flow matching prior trained directly on large scale unordered pose data. PFM-HR introduces the Pose Geometry Score (PGS), which quantifies how joint coordinate changes during rollouts align with the local geometry of pose variation captured by the prior. Using PGS to modulate the tracking reward guides policy exploration toward structured pose changes while keeping the prior frozen across tracking tasks. Experiments demonstrate that PFM-HR improves both single motion and general motion tracking, especially for highly dynamic motions.

ArtiVidRM: Verifiable Artifact-as-Rubric Reward Modeling for Explicit Quality Articulation in Video Generation

Caorui Li, Yangguang Ji, Shuxia Lin, Yu Chen, YiCheng Xiao, Yongliang Wu, Zhenxiang Jiang, Licheng Tang 等 15 位作者

Reinforcement learning has become an effective approach for improving video generation, but its success depends heavily on reliable reward models. Existing methods either map videos directly to opaque scalar scores or generate free-form rationales that are not explicitly optimized as the basis of the final judgment. We propose ArtiVidRM, a verifiable, artifact-as-rubrics video reward model that follows an observe-then-score paradigm. It first identifies visible generation artifacts and organizes them into a structured artifact list, then uses these artifacts as explicit rubrics for quality assessment. This intermediate representation grounds each score in concrete video-level evidence, making the reward more interpretable and informative for optimization. We further introduce a multi-reward reinforcement learning strategy to jointly optimize artifact prediction and quality assessment. The reward decomposes into complementary objectives that evaluate artifact prediction quality, including semantic coverage and prediction efficiency, together with a pairwise preference objective that supervises quality ranking through score differences. By jointly optimizing the intermediate artifact representation and the downstream preference prediction, the model learns to produce informative artifact lists while improving the accuracy of video quality assessment. Experiments show that ArtiVidRM achieves state-of-the-art performance on video preference benchmarks, provides effective signals for video diffusion optimization, and enables artifact-guided refinement of closed-source video generators.

DUP: Detection-guided Unlearning for Backdoor Purification in Language Models

Man Hu, Yahui Ding, Yatao Yang, Liangyu Chen, Yanhao Jia, Shuai Zhao

As backdoor attacks become more stealthy and robust, they reveal critical weaknesses in current defense strategies: detection methods often rely on coarse-grained feature statistics, and purification methods typically require full retraining or additional clean models. To address these challenges, we propose DUP (Detection-guided Unlearning for Purification), a unified framework that integrates backdoor detection with unlearning-based purification. The detector captures feature-level anomalies by jointly leveraging class-agnostic distances and inter-layer transitions. These deviations are integrated through a weighted scheme to identify poisoned inputs, enabling more fine-grained analysis. Based on the detection results, we purify the model through a parameter-efficient unlearning mechanism that avoids full retraining and does not require any external clean model. Specifically, we innovatively repurpose knowledge distillation to guide the student model toward increasing its output divergence from the teacher on detected poisoned samples, effectively forcing it to unlearn the backdoor behavior. Extensive experiments across diverse attack methods and language model architectures demonstrate that DUP achieves superior defense performance in detection accuracy and purification efficacy. Our code is available at https://github.com/ManHu2025/DUP.

On the Design of Hyper-Connections: Simplification, Stability, and Scalability

Xiangdong Zhang, Xiaohan Qin, Sunan Zou, Tuo Dai, Bizhao Shi, Zhuo Xia, Yebin Yang, Yizhou Chen 等 11 位作者

Hyper-Connections (HC) architectures are increasingly adopted in frontier language models, yet their components remain insufficiently understood and introduce non-negligible training overhead. In this work, we systematically study the HC architecture to understand its components and identify simpler, more efficient designs. We find that learned read/write gating without mixing and unconstrained mixing with fixed gates form two effective interaction groups: either alone achieves performance comparable to mHC. We also identify repeated access to the expanded residual state as a major source of training overhead, even without mixing. These findings lead to SimpleHC, which simplifies the architecture by removing residual mixing and simplifies execution through shared memory access, using the resulting additive structure and shared gate inputs. Layer-specific gates share a group-entry state, enabling batched reads and deferred writes; scalar corrections exactly preserve preceding sublayer output contributions. Our analyses support both the retained residual structure and the design of shared memory access. SimpleHC incurs only 2.4% extra end-to-end training time over a vanilla residual baseline at the largest tested scale. It maintains performance comparable to mHC when scaling from 15B to 30B MoE models, exhibits smoother gradient dynamics during standard training, and remains stable under stress. We hope SimpleHC will encourage a broader pursuit of simplicity in foundation model design, making performance gains more accessible and practical at scale.

Improved Bounds on Distance Preservers

Yanyu Chen, Yu Chen, Zihan Tan, Mingyang Yang

Given an undirected unweighted graph $G$ on $n$ vertices and a set $P$ of $p$ pairs of its vertices, a distance preserver is a sparse subgraph of $G$ that exactly preserves the shortest-path distances between all pairs in $P$. In this paper, we prove a new upper bound of $O(n^{8/9} p^{4/9})$ for distance preservers when $p\in [n^{1/2}, n]$. Our result improves the previous bound of $O\big(n^{2/3}p^{2/3}+np^{1/3}\big)$ by Bodwin and Vassilevska Williams and $O(\min\{n+n^{1/2}p,\,np^{1/2}\})$ by Coppersmith and Elkin, particularly in the regime $p\in [n^{7/10}, n]$, and narrows the gap toward the conjectured $O(n^{2/3}p^{2/3}+n)$ bound. Using the techniques developed for distance preservers, we are also able to obtain pairwise additive $+2$ spanners with $O(n+n^{9/10}p^{2/5})$ edges, pairwise additive $+4$ spanners with $O(n+n^{24/25}p^{8/25})$ edges, and new bounds for sourcewise spanners, improving upon previous results in certain parameter regimes.

vLLM Hook v1:面向 vLLM 的模型内部状态编程插件

vLLM Hook v1: A Plug-in for Programming Model Internals on vLLM

Ching-Yun Ko, Yunhua Fang, Pin-Yu Chen

AI 速览:作者提出一个开源插件 vLLM Hook,让 vLLM 推理引擎能够按配置捕获或干预模型内部状态,从而支持测试时对齐与增强方法。

Modern artificial intelligence models are deployed on inference engines to optimize runtime efficiency and resource allocation, particularly for transformer-based large language models. The vLLM project is a major open-source library to support model serving and inference. However, the current implementation of vLLM limits programmability of the internal states of deployed models. This prevents the use of popular test-time model alignment and enhancement methods. For example, it prevents the detection of adversarial prompts based on attention patterns or the adjustment of model responses based on activation steering. To bridge this critical gap, we present vLLM Hook, an opensource plug-in to enable the programming of internal states for vLLM models. Based on a configuration file specifying which internal states to capture, vLLM Hook provides seamless integration to vLLM and supports two essential features: passive programming and active programming. For passive programming, vLLM Hook probes the selected internal states for subsequent analysis, while keeping the model generation intact. For active programming, vLLM Hook enables efficient intervention of model generation by altering the selected internal states. In version 1 (named vLLM Hook MIA), the plugin runs on vLLM's V2 model runner and preserves the engine's CUDA graphs, so that capturing and steering internal states incurs only a small decoding overhead. It supports both offline use and serving through vllm serve. In addition to presenting the core functions of vLLM Hook, we demonstrate use cases including prompt injection detection, attention-based re-ranking for retrieval-augmented generation, activation steering, hidden-state probing, hallucination detection, schema linking for text-to-SQL, and tool-call risk assessment. Finally, we welcome the community's contribution to improve vLLM Hook via https://github.com/IBM/vLLM-Hook.

Clinician-AI Collaboration in Endovascular Neurointerventions: In-Vitro User Study of Copilot Assistance Modes for Robotic Navigation Across the Autonomy Spectrum

Nikola Fischer, Harry Robertshaw, S. M. Hadi Sadati, Xingyu Chen, Weiyuan Deng, Benjamin Jackson, Michael Adofo Kwakye, Sara Sciacca 等 19 位作者

Mechanical thrombectomy (MT) is an effective treatment for acute ischemic stroke, yet access remains limited by the availability of neurointerventional expertise. Telerobotic and AI-assisted systems may help address this challenge, but it remains unclear how clinicians interact with different levels of autonomy and how autonomous navigation systems perform in realistic environments. This work introduces Copilot Assistance Modes (CAMs), a framework for clinician-AI collaboration in robotic endovascular navigation spanning the autonomy spectrum from manual operation to full autonomy. In the first in-vitro user study comparing clinician-AI collaboration strategies, 11 experts and two students evaluated six navigation modes in a patient-specific vascular phantom. Objective performance metrics were combined with subjective assessments, including workload and usability. Autonomous performance was additionally evaluated both in silico and in vitro to investigate sim-to-real transfer. Hands-on manual navigation achieved the strongest overall performance (100% success). While fully autonomous navigation achieved 81% success in simulation, performance dropped to 23% in vitro. In contrast, several clinician-AI shared-autonomy modes achieved success rates of 92-97%, approximately four times higher than full autonomy and comparable to direct robotic control (95%), demonstrating mitigation of sim-to-real domain shift through clinician-AI collaboration. Among the evaluated AI-driven approaches, user-directed task delegation and rotational shared control demonstrated the most favorable balance between performance and clinician acceptance. These findings suggest that effective clinician-AI collaboration and allocation of control authority may currently be more important for reliable robotic neurointerventional navigation than increasing autonomy alone.

HiLo-WAM: Decoupling Long-Horizon Task Evolution and Local Dynamics in World Action Models

Xingyu Wang, Yanjiang Guo, Zhijing Ding, Jiaxin Fang, Zeyu Lai, Jiayu Dong, Weikang Wan, Jianyu Chen 等 10 位作者

World Action Models (WAMs) improve robotic manipulation by jointly modeling visual dynamics and robot actions. However, most existing WAMs model dense short-horizon visual dynamics, capturing local interactions but providing limited long-range task context. Extending prediction horizons increases uncertainty and computation while entangling task-level evolution with fine-grained local dynamics, obscuring their dependencies and distinct roles in action generation. We propose HiLo-WAM, which decouples long-horizon task evolution from local visual dynamics while jointly modeling their interaction with robot actions. A sparse long-horizon visual stream captures historical task context and future evolution, while a dense local dynamics visual stream models short-horizon robot-object interactions. The two streams operate at different temporal scales within a unified dual-DiT architecture and guide actions through structured cross-stream attention. Progressive inference further reduces unnecessary computation through stream-wise partial denoising, joint denoising, and dynamic skipping. Experiments demonstrate strong long-horizon manipulation performance: HiLo-WAM achieves a 93.70% average success rate on RoboTwin 2.0 and a 17.43 progress score on RoboDojo long-horizon tasks, with robust in-domain and OOD performance on the Fourier GR-3 robot. Ablations confirm the complementary contributions of long-horizon task evolution and local interaction dynamics, while temporal-scale analyses highlight the importance of balancing temporal coverage and resolution. Progressive inference further achieves a 2.93x speedup while improving performance.

CacheBridge: Efficient Cross-Model KV Transfer for Multi-Model LLM Serving

Xingyu Qu, Siyuan Lu, Zhiyu Chen, Sheng Wang, Tao Lin

Multi-model LLM serving uses routers, cascades and agent workflows to move requests across models with different costs and capabilities. Existing serving systems reuse KV caches only within one model, so every switch forces the target to re-prefill history the source already processed, adding time to first token (TTFT) that grows with history length and target size. Cross-model KV transfer can replace this prefill, yet prior methods are slower than re-prefill end to end. We present CacheBridge, the first serving system to accelerate heterogeneous multi-model workloads through cross-model KV transfer. It co-designs a compact, attention-calibrated KV mapper with systematic optimization for online multi-model serving, which makes model switch efficient on latency and memory cost. In Qwen3 14B$\rightarrow$32B agent serving on $τ$-bench, it reduces mean TTFT by $30$ to $98\%$ versus re-prefill at $1$ to $24$ QPS with comparable task success. Across five model pairs from three families, it uses $8$ to $12\times$ less mapper memory than Closed-Form Mapper and retains on average $97.94\%$ and $102.94\%$ of re-prefill task quality on chat/reasoning and RAG workloads, respectively. The promising results have opened new opportunities for efficient multi-model LLM serving through cross-model KV reuse.

LiquidCP: Decoupling Attention Tasks from Communication and Kernel Boundaries in Context Parallelism

Hongyu Chen, Yikang Ruan, Yuhai Long, Ziyu Huang, Yiyu Luo, Liukun Yu, Yangjie Zhou, Zihan Liu 等 17 位作者

Context parallelism (CP) partitions long sequences across GPUs for LLM training and inference. For variable-length training and full prefill, attention-balanced placement can leave token loads uneven, while ring execution repeats overhead at each computation and communication step. In stage-serialized decode CP (DCP), long-running tasks delay dependent work and leave substantial GPU hardware idle. We propose LiquidCP, which unifies training and inference through a common model of Transfer, Compute, and Reduction tasks with tile-level dependencies, decoupling attention tasks from communication and kernel boundaries. For training and full prefill, MegaRing incorporates BuddyRing placement to balance attention and token loads, and coalesces ready KV regions during forward attention to amortize overhead. For decoding and mixed batches, MegaDCP selects history-KV splits by jointly modeling the completion of attention and its dependent reductions. A shared persistent GPU-resident engine executes both designs. Compared with the fastest baseline per configuration on eight H100 GPUs, MegaRing achieves geometric-mean core-attention speedups of $1.23\times$ forward and $1.18\times$ backward, and accelerates a Transformer layer by $1.08$--$1.16\times$. MegaDCP achieves geometric-mean core-attention speedups of $1.20\times$ for decode-only and $1.35\times$ for mixed batches. In vLLM serving with KV prefix cache, it achieves an average time-to-first-token speedup of $1.22\times$.

An FPRAS for Counting Common Bases of Two Matroids

Xiaoyu Chen, Kuikui Liu

We design the first fully polynomial-time randomized approximation scheme ($\mathsf{FPRAS}$) for approximately counting and uniformly sampling common bases of two matroids given by their independence oracles. Moreover, our algorithms generalize far beyond this to Hadamard products of two probability measures on the Boolean cube satisfying a simple nonnegative curvature condition. These algorithmic primitives have myriad applications in statistical physics, polyhedral combinatorics, the theory of quantum many-body systems, and beyond. The central difficulty is that the hard constraints imposed by the two input matroids (or the two input measures, more generally) obstruct traditional approaches based on local Markov chains. Relaxing these constraints can restore rapid mixing, but configurations that satisfy the original hard constraints may become exponentially rare if this is done naïvely. Our main contribution is a novel approach for approximate counting that marries Markov chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) with convex programming to overcome these obstacles: - We relax the intersection by imposing an overlap penalty on the product measure formed by the two input measures. We prove, via an integrated Bochner-type method, that this "soft intersection" satisfies a Poincaré Inequality uniformly over all external fields. - We use samples from the relaxed distribution to solve a dual maximum entropy convex program inspired by the Gurvits capacity. This program reweights the soft intersection measure using external fields to boost the aggregate probability of configurations satisfying the hard intersection constraint, without changing their relative weights. We bound the success probability directly using the uniform Poincaré Inequality and smallness of the gradient norm. AI Disclosure: GPT-5.6 Sol Ultra and GPT-6 Astra Ultra were heavily used to develop the ideas in this paper.

A Spectral Local-to-Global Principle for Spin Systems on Graphs with Girth At Least Five

Xiaoyu Chen, Kuikui Liu

It is proved that, for every $δ\in (0,1)$, the Glauber dynamics for the uniform distribution on proper $q$-colorings is rapidly mixing when $q \geq (1+δ)Δ$ and the underlying graph has girth at least $5$ and maximum degree $Δ= Ω_δ(1)$. This result also extends to general multi-spin systems satisfying a $\textit{local spectral contraction}$ condition, including the anti-ferromagnetic Potts model with $q\geq (1+δ)(1-β)Δ$. These results are achieved by a new spectral local-to-global principle on graphs with girth at least five for general multi-spin systems, and a novel Fourier analysis for Glauber dynamics on a star. The main ideas behind all the proofs were developed through several rounds of interaction with GPT-5.6 Sol Ultra.

Calibration of Large Model Quantization based on HiFloat4 Format

Jing Huang, Yu Cheng, Ziwei Yu, Lan Zhao, Sitan Li, Guangxiu Yao, Xin Wang, Yuanyong Luo 等 14 位作者

Quantization of Large Language Models (LLMs) has become increasingly important for reducing the computational costs and resource requirements for practical deployment. Growing interest in this area has motivated the community to move beyond 8-bit quantization towards 4-bit precision, leading to the development of customized 4-bit formats such as MXFP4 and NVFP4. Recently, HiFloat4 (HiF4) has emerged as a competitive alternative which adopts a Block Floating-Point (BFP) format with a three-level scaling hierarchy, thereby achieving a significantly larger dynamic range. While quantization can substantially reduce memory usage and accelerate inference, it frequently introduces accuracy degradation. Calibration is therefore essential for narrowing the performance gap between low-precision quantized models and their full-precision counterparts. Nevertheless, existing calibration methods are mainly designed and validated using integer-precision formats, such as INT4, lacking support for HiF4 due to its hierarchical BFP structure. In this paper, we investigate three calibration approaches, namely HiGPTQ, HiAutoRound, and HiFlatQuant, to further enhance model quantization based on the HiF4 format. Extensive experiment s demonstrate that all three proposed approaches improve inference accuracy compared with direct HiF4 conversion, reducing the gap between HiF4 and BF16 to less than 1% and outperforming the state-of-the-art NVFP4 format across various models and downstream tasks.

LoRA enables efficient customization of LLMs and is widely used in multi-tenant and multi-task serving. However, emerging model architectures such as MoE significantly increase LoRA memory cost, making existing coupled LoRA serving designs poorly scalable and prone to tail-latency inflation. We present InfiniLoRA, a disaggregated LoRA serving system that decouples LoRA execution from base-model inference. InfiniLoRA introduces a shared LoRA Server with parallelism-aware execution, SLO-driven provisioning, and critical-path optimizations, including GPU-initiated communication and hardware-specialized LoRA kernels. Experiments show that InfiniLoRA can achieve an average $3.05\times$ increase in serviceable request rate under strict latency SLOs, and improve the percentage of LoRA adapters satisfying the SLO requirement by 54.0\%.

A Survey on Reconfigurable Intelligent Surfaces Towards Practical Deployments: Security and Privacy Perspectives

Ziyu Chen, Yitong Shen, Jingzhe Zhang, Yao Zheng, Yili Ren, Xuyu Wang, Shiwen Mao, Hanqing Guo

Reconfigurable Intelligent Surfaces (RIS) have emerged as a transformative technology capable of reshaping wireless environments through dynamic manipulation of electromagnetic waves. Although RISs have been widely studied for communication, sensing, and localization, their security and privacy implications are still fragmented across application-specific studies, prototypes, and testbeds. This survey provides a deployment-oriented review of RIS applications, with a focus on the security and privacy threats, vulnerabilities, and defensive strategies relevant to practical use. We analyze scenarios with two types of systems (with and without legitimate RIS) and two types of attackers (with and without malicious RIS), and clarify how RIS introduces new attack surfaces to practical systems, including eavesdropping, jamming, and spoofing attacks. In response, we review defenses against RIS-related attacks in these systems, such as protocol- and algorithm-level protections, unauthorized RIS detection, and interference/disruption-based mitigation. We also discuss scenarios in which the legitimate user applies an additional RIS to defend against attacks. To support future research, we also curate papers and available open resources at https://awesome-ris-security.github.io/. By highlighting RIS's functionality and its security/privacy challenges and opportunities, this survey aims to guide researchers and engineers toward the development of secure, resilient, and privacy-preserving RIS-enabled practical wireless systems and environments.

Tune-Up Open-Weight CLIP: Optimization Framework for Self-Supervised Fine-tuning of CLIP

Anant Mehta, Xingyu Chen, Xiyuan Wei, Tianbao Yang

CLIP has become a cornerstone of multimodal representation learning, yet improving its performance typically requires a prohibitively costly process of training from scratch on billions of samples. We ask a different question: Can we improve the performance of open-weight CLIP models across various downstream tasks using only existing self-supervised datasets? Unlike supervised fine-tuning, which adapts a pretrained model to a single downstream task, our setting seeks to improve general performance across various tasks. However, as both our experiments and prior studies reveal, simply applying standard training protocols starting from an open-weight CLIP model often fails, leading to performance degradation. In this paper, we introduce TuneCLIP, a self-supervised fine-tuning framework that overcomes the performance degradation. TuneCLIP has two key components: (1) a warm-up stage of recovering optimization statistics to reduce cold-start bias, inspired by theoretical analysis, and (2) a fine-tuning stage of optimizing a new contrastive loss to mitigate the penalization on false negative pairs. Our extensive experiments show that TuneCLIP consistently improves performance across model architectures and scales. Notably, it elevates leading open-weight models like SigLIP (ViT-B/16), achieving gains of up to +2.5% on ImageNet and related out-of-distribution benchmarks, and +1.2% on the highly competitive DataComp benchmark, setting a new strong baseline for efficient post-pretraining adaptation. The code is available at https://github.com/Optimization-AI/TuneCLIP.

A Survey of Freshness-Aware Wireless Networking with Reinforcement Learning

Alimu Alibotaiken, Suyang Wang, Oluwaseun T. Ajayi, Mushu Li, Yu Cheng

The age of information (AoI) has become a central measure of data freshness in modern wireless systems. Reinforcement learning (RL) has emerged as a promising approach to AoI optimization, enabling adaptive decision-making in dynamic and stochastic wireless environments without requiring precise system models. Yet existing surveys either focus on classical AoI formulations or provide broad discussions of RL in wireless networks without addressing freshness as a unified learning problem. Motivated by this gap, this survey examines RL specifically through the lens of AoI and generalized freshness optimization. Motivated by this gap, this survey examines RL specifically through the lens of AoI and generalized freshness optimization. We organize AoI and its variants into native, function-based, and application-oriented families, providing a clearer view of how freshness should be modeled in B5G and 6G systems. Building on this foundation, we introduce a policy-centric taxonomy that reflects the decisions most relevant to freshness, consisting of update-control RL, medium-access RL, risk-sensitive RL, and multi-agent RL. This structure provides a coherent framework for understanding how learning can support important wireless networking problems, including sampling, scheduling, UAV trajectory planning, medium access, and distributed coordination. We further synthesize recent progress in RL-driven freshness control and highlight open challenges. The goal is to establish a unified foundation for learning-based freshness optimization in next-generation wireless networks.

VerifLM: Physically Verified Image-Edit-Guided Goal Pose Generation for Robotic Manipulation

Xuanyou Chen, Jinyu Chen, Glen Chou

Many manipulation goals are easier to visualize than to specify numerically through explicit geometric constraints. We present VerifLM, a framework that converts image-edited goal configurations into physically verified 6-DoF object poses for planning. Using an edited image, VerifLM recovers an initial relative pose between an active object and a passive object, then prompts a vision-language model to generate axis-wise sampling constraints and a task-specific validation program. Candidate poses are evaluated in a physics simulator, and the VLM selects the most task-consistent retained candidate. To operate without predefined object meshes or physical parameters, VerifLM reconstructs metric object geometry from RGB-D observations and constructs multiple hypothetical simulations with varying physics and geometry. Parallel-world validation evaluates candidates across geometry--physics variations and ranks them by the number of worlds in which they satisfy the validation program. We evaluate VerifLM on nine manipulation tasks. VerifLM achieves the highest task success on eight of nine tasks, with the largest performance gain on goals requiring precise orientation and contact relationships.

Counting Square Tilings with a Fixed Set of Polyominoes Is #EXP-Complete

Qiuyu Chen, Baao Xie

An important question in counting complexity is whether exact counting can remain hard under restrictions that make feasibility easy. Tilings of squares by a fixed family of polyominoes provide a stringent test of this question, since tileability is polynomial-time decidable and the only varying input is a binary-encoded side length. We prove that there exists a fixed finite family of connected polyominoes for which counting translation-only square tilings is #EXP-complete under polynomial-time metric reductions, while the counting function belongs to #E. The resulting separation reveals that solution multiplicities can retain computational information that feasibility alone cannot capture. The proof develops a two-stage numerical isolation technique that combines a boundary-amplified Wang system with a rigid geometric compiler to recover accepting-computation counts while controlling all noncanonical tilings.

VerdictAD: Few-Shot Anomaly Detection via Decision-Guided Refinement

Shangquan Sun, Wenjun Luo, Yuanzhi Wang, Ruiqi Li, Ruoyu Chen, Jiachen Liu, Shijian Lu

Detecting defects in real-world industrial inspection often requires learning from only a few normal images per category. Recent few-shot anomaly detection methods have achieved strong performance by measuring feature differences between query images and normal references. However, visual differences do not always indicate genuine defects, as normal appearance variations can also produce high anomaly scores. Conversely, structural or logical anomalies may not produce strong local feature differences, making them difficult to detect. To address this limitation, we introduce VerdictAD, a training-free framework that refines existing anomaly detectors through visual decisions. Rather than replacing existing detectors, VerdictAD adopts a typed decision model to assess the query image and its local regions against a few normal references. By directly producing structured decision probabilities without text generation, the model provides complementary evidence for refining anomaly responses at different spatial scales. Building on this capability, we introduce two modules: Global Verdict Refinement (GVR) uses image-level decisions to refine the overall anomaly score, while Local Verdict Refinement (LVR) aggregates regional decisions to refine the anomaly map. Combined with a simple DINOv2-based detector, VerdictAD achieves competitive performance in one-shot and few-shot anomaly detection. More importantly, as a plug-and-play framework, it consistently improves existing anomaly detectors across MVTec AD, VisA, and MVTec LOCO AD, achieving strong results across one-shot and few-shot settings. Our code and experimental logs are publicly available at https://github.com/sgstq0811/VerdictAD-Jev-AD.

M3Former: Fine-Grained Cross-Layer Mixing for Transformers

Jiasong Han, Yunkai Chai, Tong Zhu, Hengyu Zhang, Wei Fang, Jintao Wang, Guoqi Li, Yu Cheng

Residual connections give each Transformer block access to all earlier layers only through one fixed sum, broadcast to all of the block's inputs. This broadcast bottleneck imposes three constraints: the query, key, value and residual inputs of a block, which we call its roles, read the same vector; all hidden dimensions within a role share one set of weights over earlier layers; and every earlier layer has the same fixed weight for every token. We propose the Multi-Role Multi-Group Mixing Residual (M3), which removes all three: every role, and every group of hidden dimensions within a role, reads its own token-dependent mixture of all earlier layers. M3 starts as an exact residual connection and adds as little as 1.4% parameters and 1.8% FLOPs. From 100M to 1.4B parameters, M3Former outperforms the Transformer and coarse-grained cross-layer connections at every size, matching a Transformer 1.19-1.34x the size of the one it modifies, trained with 1.4-1.8x the compute. Relaxing only some of the constraints recovers only part of this gain. M3Former also improves sparse mixture-of-experts models of up to 4.6B parameters and trains more stably in deeper networks. TrajDLM: Topology-Aware Block Diffusion Language Model for Trajectory Generation

Wilson Wongso, Lihuan Li, Arian Prabowo, Xiachong Lin, Baiyu Chen, Hao Xue, Flora D. Salim

Generating high-fidelity synthetic Web of Things (WoT) telemetry, such as GPS trajectories, is increasingly important for transportation, urban planning, and location-aware services, particularly when privacy concerns restrict access to real-world mobility data. Existing trajectory generation methods face a trade-off between efficiency and road network fidelity: continuous-space methods generate trajectories efficiently but ignore road topology, while topology-aware methods rely on search-based autoregressive decoding that limits generation speed. We propose TrajDLM, a topology-aware trajectory generation framework based on block diffusion language models. TrajDLM represents trajectories as sequences of discrete road segments, combining a block diffusion backbone, graph-based road network representations, and topology-constrained sampling to generate realistic trajectories with topologically valid road transitions. To address the tendency of supervised models to favor near-shortest routes, we introduce TrajRFT, a rejection-sampling fine-tuning stage that improves route fidelity by training on self-generated routes selected for their similarity to real trajectories. Across three city-scale vehicle telemetry datasets, TrajDLM closely matches real-world mobility in population-level distributions, local route similarity, and route diversity, while generating trajectories up to $7.5\times$ faster than the strongest baseline. It also demonstrates zero-shot transfer to unseen transport modes. These results establish block diffusion with topology-constrained sampling and rejection-sampling fine-tuning as an efficient approach to generating realistic synthetic mobility telemetry for location-aware Web services and WoT applications.

Beyond Binary Detection: Type-Aware Hallucination Analysis and Hierarchical Detection in Financial Question Answering

Xiongyu Chen, Sizhen Zhu, Zhuoer Wang

Large language models are increasingly used to answer questions over financial filings, where an unfaithful answer can mislead investment, compliance, or client decisions. Hallucination detectors are a common safeguard, but they are usually evaluated with a single binary score that reveals neither which kinds of errors analysesed nor why. This paper studies hallucination detection on PHANTOM, a long-context benchmark built from SEC filings, at the level of hallucination type. We first analyze 15,443 paired hallucinated and faithful answers without any detector and find that hallucinated answers are more than twice as long as faithful ones, and that lexical grounding separates the two classes only because faithful answers are bimodal. We then generate hallucinations in nine financially motivated categories, confirm each with a separate verification pass, and diagnose an LLM-based detector on 4,086 usable examples. Generation success varies from 66.3% to 100% across categories. The detector reaches 80.2% binary accuracy but only 44.7% subtype accuracy, never assigns two of the nine categories, and misses between 5.3% and 46.8% of hallucinations depending on category; these misses are unrelated to input length but rise with how far an answer departs from the correct one. Guided by this diagnosis, we propose a two-stage hierarchical detector that first decides whether an answer is hallucinated and then assigns a subtype, raising binary accuracy to 95.6% and subtype accuracy to 56.1%. The results show that type-level evaluation exposes detector weaknesses that aggregate metrics conceal.
