ElasticFormer: Detecting Objects in HRW Shots via Elastic Computing Vision Transformer

Wenxi Li, Jingchen Huang, Chenyang Lyu, Moran Liu, Haozhe Lin, Guiguang Ding, Yuchen Guo

Recent advances in gigapixel-level imaging have brought High-Resolution Wide shots to the forefront of research. However, these images present significant challenges: extreme sparsity of foreground, gigapixel-level resolutions and diverse target counts. This makes traditional close-up detectors inaccurate and slow as they are overwhelmed by the background. Although previous research has explored sparse backbones, their fixed sparsity patterns lack the adaptability required to handle diverse target numbers. To address this, we introduce ElasticFormer, a sparse backbone that dynamically allocates computational resources based on foreground proportion. After scoring windows based on variance, proposed ElasticSelector module will predict the foreground proportion for top-k selection. The mechanism guides the model to select target-containing windows, scaling resources in areas where objects are clustered. We introduce a novel loss function combined with the 3-phase training strategy for ElasticSelector, allowing it to function properly when bounding box annotations are missing. A WSOD study is carried on PASCAL VOC 2007 to evaluate its extensibility. Further, ElasticNet is created to verify its backbone-agnostic nature. In experiments on the PANDA gigapixel benchmark, ElasticFormer reduces backbone FLOPs by 80% while achieving a significant improvement in AP50 when compared to fixed-ratio sparse methods.

BiHashFormer: Hash-Driven Dual-Branch Transformer for Efficient Object Detection in HRW Shots

Jingchen Huang, Wenxi Li, Chenyang Lyu, Moran Liu, Haozhe Lin, Yuchen Guo

Recent advances in gigapixel-level imaging have brought High-Resolution Wide shots to the forefront of research. However, these images present significant challenges: extreme sparsity of foreground, gigapixel-level resolutions and interleaving of foreground and background. This causes traditional detectors and attention mechanisms to be hindered by background, resulting in inefficiency and inaccuracy. To tackle this problem, we propose BiHashFormer, a dual sparsified branch transformer built on hashing. RoI Selector will predict the foreground proportion for top-k selecting target-containing windows. The compression branch processes windows selected and refines attention into HashAttention by discarding half of the key-value pairs, reducing cost and improving efficiency. The compensation branch uses HashMiner to perform low-cost hash searches in the remaining regions, recovering features of missed objects. Experiments confirm that the selection relationship in HashAttention is one-way and reveal the preference of different queries for keys. In experiments on the gigapixel benchmark PANDA, BiHashFormer reduces 37.5% backbone FLOPs while improving AP50 to 81.0%. Moreover, this parallel dual-branch structure allows the model to avoid inference delays caused by inter-branch dependencies, while achieving much greater stability than single-branch models, specially with low rates of RoI selection.

StreamStudio: Exploring Video Authoring with Streaming Autoregressive Generation

Boyu Li, Zhe Lin, Eli Shechtman, Ding Li, Hongbo Fu, Yuqian Zhou

We present StreamStudio, a prototype system that explores a new authoring paradigm for streaming video generation. Instead of entering a prompt and waiting for a complete video before making changes, creators can interact with the generation as it unfolds: steering what comes next, returning to earlier moments, and exploring different continuations. In this way, StreamStudio shifts creative control from post-generation revision to continuous interaction with the generative process. Our contribution centers on this authoring paradigm and the interaction mechanisms that make streaming generation directly manipulable. StreamStudio is designed as a plug-and-play interface that can work with compatible generation and editing models, allowing its interaction model to evolve alongside advances in underlying video models. As streaming models become faster and easier to control in the future, such an interface may support more flexible and controllable video creation, including richer edits and multimodal interventions during generation.

LocoManiLab: A Unified Testbed for Data, Policies, Controllers, and Deployment in Humanoid Loco-Manipulation

Dewei Wang, Jinrui Han, Jiyuan Shi, Chenyun Zhang, Xianbo Lu, Jiabao Wu, Jiqin Feng, Jipeng Kong 等 14 位作者

Humanoid robots must coordinate locomotion and manipulation in everyday environments, yet progress is difficult to assess across differing policies, controllers, and task settings. LocoManiLab provides an integrated testbed spanning data collection and generation, policy training, evaluation, and physical deployment. Its task suite covers 234 atomic and compositional tasks across five household scene categories, supported by 51.5 hours of simulated teleoperation. The evaluation covers twelve policies with a shared controller across task and scene splits and perturbation levels, two policies across five controllers, and studies of demonstration scale and data-source mixtures. Success rates fall on unseen tasks and scenes and generally decline as visual perturbations increase, with differences in generalization and robustness across policies. For data generation, a humanoid motion generation model is fine-tuned for loco-manipulation to study the alignment of its outputs with task execution requirements and its integration into the data generation pipeline. Three simulated loco-manipulation tasks closely match real-world setups, enabling evaluation of three policies in both domains. Similar policy rankings support the reliability of simulation-based evaluation.

DeFT-RAG: Incrementally Decomposing Multi-Hop Questions into Self-Contained Sub-Questions with Reusable Answers

Dingyi Kang, Bingzhe Li

Retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) lets a large language model (LLM) answer questions by retrieving relevant passages from a large corpus. However, RAG struggles with multi-hop questions, which require chaining facts spread across several documents through intermediate entities that the question never mentions. Graph-based RAG methods retrieve once from the entities a question names and so rarely recover the full evidence chain. Iterative RAG methods recover it step by step, but their accuracy is limited by the many tasks they ask the LLM to perform, such as planning the sub-questions, deciding their dependencies, rewriting them as answers arrive, and keeping track of what is known. We propose DeFT-RAG, a RAG framework built on three components. First, DeFT-RAG generates one self-contained sub-question at a time from the original question and the sub-questions answered so far with their answers (QA pairs). Each sub-question names every entity it asks about, which removes the need to plan, track dependencies or rewrite, and lets the LLM focus on a single fine-grained task at a time. Second, DeFT-RAG moves the remaining LLM work outside the LLM: rule-based updates to a QA table that keeps track of what is known, and yes/no decisions made by a fine-tuned lightweight decision model. Third, DeFT-RAG caches the QA pairs and reuses an answer when a later question asks a sub-question with the same meaning. On MuSiQue, 2WikiMultiHopQA and HotpotQA, DeFT-RAG achieves the best accuracy among thirteen baselines with both gpt-4o-mini and Qwen3.6 as the backbone, while giving the LLM fewer input tokens than any other iterative method. With a QA cache shared across 1,000 MuSiQue questions, 23.1% of sub-questions are answered from the cache, which reduces LLM calls by 12.9% without lowering accuracy.

We present EmbeddingGemma 2, an open multimodal embedding model which natively represents text, images, audio, video, and combinations thereof in a unified space. Our approach introduces improvements such as simplified per-layer embeddings and a multi-stage curriculum with modality and objective progression which ensure strong quality across unimodal, cross-modal, and mixed-modal evaluations. Notably, in comprehensive embedding benchmarks across all modalities, EmbeddingGemma 2 establishes a new Pareto frontier, outperforming both specialist models and models two to twelve times larger. Furthermore, our design offers flexibility for resource-constrained environments, supporting selective modality encoder loading, adjustable vision token budgets, truncatable embedding dimensions, and quantized weights. We present ablations analyzing key decisions and release EmbeddingGemma 2 to promote further research.

Hy-Nomas: Towards Free-form Interactive World Generation

Qiaoling Chen, Jiaxiang Cheng, Xueqing Deng, Tiankai Hang, Ji Hou, Jiaqi Li, Yifan Liu, Tao Lu 等 38 位作者

Interactive world generation requires models to follow successive commands while preserving relevant history and action consequences. We present Hy-Nomas, a video world model with an 8B diffusion backbone that supports free-form text instructions and continuous camera control across multiple interaction turns. It generates variable-length segments conditioned on current inputs and cached history. Our central design aligns structured video captions with action-aware causal attention: descriptive context remains accessible across segments, while action instructions are restricted to their intended temporal windows. A vision-language Prompt Enhancer (PE) translates user requests and multimodal interaction histories into structured conditions for the next segment. A multi-stage curriculum progressively introduces causal generation, text interaction, camera control, and training on model-generated histories, followed by diffusion distillation. In human evaluation, Hy-Nomas shows superior performance over existing world models. We release model weights, code and benchmarks, together with a lightweight adaptation workflow, to support reproducible research on interactive world generation.

Learning to Formalize: Bridging Open-Ended Workloads and Fast Decision Models

Chengxuan Pei, Ziyao Wang, Teng Mei, Zhe Li

Decision models offer fast choices over sup- plied alternatives, while general-purpose large language models interpret open-ended tasks through flexible generation and reasoning at the cost of sequential decoding. Many work- loads expect a generative backend to determine what can be done and therefore provide no well-defined candidate list. We bridge this in- terface gap with a small candidate formalizer trained on offline teacher-generated lists. The formalizer constructs explicit, validated alter- natives from task context, and a frozen deci- sion model selects an entry. A motivating com- parison with official TypeSafe Jev-1.13.0 on 200 CALVIN-D test episodes reports 11% suc- cess with generic motions versus 46.5% with DeepSeek V4 Flash pose candidates. Sepa- rately, a six-arm privileged-state evaluation on 1,011 CALVIN-D validation annotations finds that a locally deployed decision model can achieve at most 52.6% task success rate with the fine-tuned formalizer, compared with 11.8% without it, and the end-to-end latency is kept to 2.09 s, whereas Qwen3.5-27B is 3.67 s with the exact experiment setting.

Inferring Inference

Rajkumar Vasudeva Raju, Zhe Li, Scott Linderman, Xaq Pitkow

Patterns of microcircuitry in the cerebral cortex suggest that the brain has an array of repeated canonical computational units. However, neural representations are distributed, so the relevant computations may only be related indirectly to single-neuron transformations. It thus remains an open challenge how to define canonical distributed computations. Here we integrate normative and algorithmic theories of neural computation to present a mathematical framework for inferring canonical distributed computations from large-scale neural activity patterns. At the normative level, we hypothesize that the brain learns a structured internal model of its environment and its latent causes. At the algorithmic level, we propose that this inference process is a nonlinear message-passing algorithm on a graph-structured model of the world. Given a time series of neural activity during a perceptual inference task, our analysis framework finds (i) the neural representation of the relevant latent variables, (ii) interactions between these latent variables that define the brain's internal model of the world, and (iii) message functions that specify the inference algorithm. With enough data, key computational properties are identifiable due to constraints from the symmetries inherent in any canonical computation, up to a joint global transformation of all interactions and the message-passing functions. As a demonstration of this framework, we analyze artificial neural recordings generated by a simulated brain that implicitly implements an approximate inference algorithm. Given simulated inputs and neural activity we successfully recover the latent variables, their neural representation and dynamics, and canonical message functions that govern the dynamics. Analysis of these models reveals features of experimental design required to extract canonical computations from neural data.

Democratizing LLM Training with the Edge: Challenges, Systems, and the Road Ahead

Ziyue Luo, Jiaxuan Cai, Cedric LeDenmat, Srijith Nair, Fatemeh Nourzad, Rohith Krishnan, Qinhang Wu, Jifan Zhang 等 30 位作者

The growing computational power of modern GPU data centers has let a few industrial giants train and deploy large language models (LLMs) on massive amounts of data. Yet the sheer scale of these models and their training data makes centralized development increasingly hard to sustain, and at the same time shuts out smaller institutions that hold relevant private data but lack comparable infrastructure. In this paper, we organize our positions on distributed LLM training around the pretraining and fine-tuning paradigms, covering federated learning, split learning, and decentralized approaches, and we assess their readiness for geo-distributed settings with heterogeneous hardware and unreliable connectivity. We then present a {\em unified} system architecture built around a cloud-hosted parameter server that coordinates heterogeneous clients over outbound gRPC connections, reusing one communication, compression, and fault-tolerance stack for both pretraining and a family of fine-tuning methods. We validate the design with real geo-distributed experiments on GPT-2 Medium and Llama3-1B pretraining across multiple university sites, showing stable convergence under realistic conditions. Finally, we chart the road ahead, identifying open problems that span frontier model support, elastic fault tolerance, adaptive compression, federated alignment, privacy and trust, incentive design, and system--algorithm co-design, all of which must be addressed to make democratized LLM training a reality.

PersonaCUABench: Benchmarking Computer-Use Agents Serving Diverse Personas

Haoming Li, Defu Cao, Xu Hu, Yingtao Luo, Yiyang Wang, Xianghe Xu, Jiashu He, Wanting Jiang 等 26 位作者

Computer-use agents (CUAs) are commonly evaluated against fixed task specifications, but users may omit requirements, add constraints, or require approval before consequential actions. Completing the benchmark instruction does not guarantee serving the person who asked. We introduce PersonaCUABench, which holds 74 tasks across 11 domains fixed and varies only who asks. A persona agent, playing one of 44 personas in four groups, rewrites each instruction in that user's own words and answers the CUA's questions, while the CUA sees only the dialogue, never the profile or the original instruction. Across nine backbones (3,330 runs), mean task completion falls by 36% relative to the original requests. The losses have two sources: in 59.9% of cells that lose points, the agent engages with what the user asked for and still gets it wrong, and 11.2% are stops the user requested that the checker scores as failures. Even when a persona request is fully completed, the user gives the top satisfaction rating in only 62.7% of cells, against 84.1% for the original requests. CUAs should therefore be evaluated not only on task completion but also on whether they meet the requirements and constraints users express. Code: https://github.com/MatrAIx-ai/PersonaCUABench. LiTS: A Modular Framework for LLM Tree Search

Xinzhe Li Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology, Yaguang Tao

LiTS is a modular Python framework for LLM reasoning via tree search. It decomposes tree search into three reusable components—Policy, Transition, and RewardModel—that plug into algorithms like MCTS and BFS. A decorator-based registry enables domain experts to extend to new domains by registering components, and algorithmic researchers to implement custom search algorithms. We demonstrate composability on MATH500 (language reasoning), Crosswords (environment planning), and MapEval (tool use), showing that components and algorithms are orthogonal: components are reusable across algorithms within each task type, and algorithms work across all components and domains. We also report a mode-collapse finding: in infinite action spaces, LLM policy diversity—not reward quality—is the bottleneck for effective tree search. A demonstration video is available at https://youtu.be/nRGX43YrR3I. The package is released under the Apache 2.0 license at https://github.com/xinzhel/lits-llm, including installation instructions and runnable examples that enable users to reproduce the demonstrated workflows.

Unleashing Low-Bit Inference on Ascend NPUs: A Comprehensive Evaluation of HiFloat Formats

Pengxiang Zhao, Hui-Ling Zhen, Xing Li, Han Bao, Weizhe Lin, Zhiyuan Yang, Yu Zi Wei, Xin Wang 等 11 位作者

As LLMs scale, low-bit floating-point formats like MXFP and NVFP4 offer new opportunities for precision and efficiency. In this work, we evaluate HiFloat (HiF8 and HiF4), a family of formats tailored for Ascend NPUs. Through rigorous comparison across weight-activation and KV-cache tasks, we provide three key insights: (1) INT8 suits narrow-range data, while floating-point formats excel with high-variance data; (2) in 4-bit regimes, HiF4’s hierarchical scaling prevents the accuracy collapse seen in integer formats; and (3) HiFloat is fully compatible with state-of-the-art post-training quantization frameworks. Overall, HiFloat provides a solution for high-efficiency LLM inference on NPUs.

Audio Jailbreak: An Open Comprehensive Benchmark for Jailbreaking Large Audio-Language Models

Zirui Song, Qian Jiang, Mingxuan Cui, Mingzhe Li, Lang Gao Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence, Zeyu Zhang Australian National University, Zixiang Xu, Yanbo Wang Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence 等 11 位作者

The rise of Large Audio-Language Models (LAMs) brings both potential and risks, as their audio outputs may contain harmful or unethical content. However, current research lacks a systematic, quantitative evaluation of LAM safety, especially against jailbreak attacks, which are challenging due to the temporal and semantic nature of speech. To bridge this gap, we introduce AJailBench, the first benchmark specifically designed to evaluate jailbreak vulnerabilities in LAMs. We begin by constructing -Base, a dataset of 1,495 adversarial audio prompts spanning 10 policy-violating categories. Using this dataset, we evaluate several state-of-the-art LAMs and reveal that none exhibit consistent robustness across attacks. To further strengthen jailbreak testing and simulate more realistic attack conditions, we propose a method to generate dynamic adversarial variants. Our Audio Perturbation Toolkit (APT) applies targeted distortions across time, frequency, and amplitude domains. To preserve the original jailbreak intent, we enforce a semantic consistency constraint and employ Bayesian optimization to efficiently search for perturbations that are both subtle and highly effective. This results in AJailBench-APT+, an extended dataset of optimized adversarial audio samples. Our findings demonstrate that even small, semantically preserved perturbations can significantly reduce the safety performance of leading LAMs, underscoring the need for more robust and semantically aware defense mechanisms. We release AJailBench to facilitate future research: https://anonymous.4open.science/r/AudioJailbreak-4262/

UniSonate: A Unified Model for Speech, Music, and Sound Effect Generation with Text Instructions

Generative audio modeling has largely been fragmented into specialized tasks, text-to-speech (TTS), text-to-music (TTM), and text-to-audio (TTA), each operating under heterogeneous control paradigms. Unifying these modalities remains a fundamental challenge due to the intrinsic dissonance between structured semantic representations (speech/music) and unstructured acoustic textures (sound effects). In this paper, we introduce UniSonate, a unified flow-matching framework capable of synthesizing speech, music, and sound effects through a standardized, reference-free natural language instruction interface. To reconcile structural disparities, we propose a novel dynamic token injection mechanism that projects unstructured environmental sounds into a structured temporal latent space, enabling precise duration control within a phoneme-driven Multimodal Diffusion Transformer (MM-DiT). Coupled with a multi-stage curriculum learning strategy, this approach effectively mitigates cross-modal optimization conflicts. Extensive experiments demonstrate that UniSonate achieves state-of-the-art performance in instruction-based TTS (WER 1.47%) and TTM (SongEval Coherence 3.18), while maintaining competitive fidelity in TTA. Crucially, we observe positive transfer, where joint training on diverse audio data significantly enhances structural coherence and prosodic expressiveness compared to single-task baselines.

SAC: Neural Speech Codec with Semantic-Acoustic Dual-Stream Quantization

Wenxi Chen, Ruiqi Yan Shanghai Jiaotong University, Yushen Chen Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Zhikang Niu, Ziyang Ma, Xiquan Li, Yuzhe Liang Shanghai Jiaotong University, Wenhanlin Huazhong University of Science and Technology 等 12 位作者

Speech codecs that convert continuous speech signals into discrete tokens have become essential for speech language models. However, existing codecs struggle to balance high-quality reconstruction with semantically rich representations, limiting their effectiveness in both generative and understanding tasks. In this work, we propose \textbf{SAC}, a neural speech codec with semantic-acoustic dual-stream quantization. By disentangling semantic and acoustic modeling into two dedicated streams, SAC enables each to be optimized for its respective role. Comprehensive evaluations show that SAC achieves strong reconstruction performance across diverse bitrates under both clean and noisy conditions, with particularly high scores on UTMOS and WER, indicating superior naturalness and intelligibility. Moreover, SAC substantially surpasses prior codecs in semantic representation, approaching the level of continuous self-supervised embeddings. When used as a tokenizer for LLM-based text-to-speech, SAC enables a single-stage autoregressive (AR) TTS model that clearly outperforms state-of-the-art AR systems. Our disentanglement analysis further validates the effectiveness of the dual-stream design, offering new potential for controllable speech generation.

CriticLean: Critic-Guided Reinforcement Learning for Mathematical Formalization

Zhongyuan Peng, Yifan Yao, Kaijing Ma, Shuyue Guo, Yizhe Li, Yichi Zhang, Chenchen Zhang, Yifan Zhang Princeton University 等 19 位作者

Translating natural language mathematical statements into formal, executable code is a fundamental challenge in automated theorem proving. While prior work has focused on generation and compilation success, little attention has been paid to the critic phase—the evaluation of whether generated formalizations truly capture the semantic intent of the original problem. In this paper, we introduce CriticLean, a novel critic-guided reinforcement learning framework that elevates the role of the critic from a passive validator to an active learning component. Specifically, first, we propose the CriticLeanGPT, trained via supervised fine-tuning and reinforcement learning, to rigorously assess the semantic fidelity of Lean 4 formalizations. Then, we introduce CriticLeanBench, a benchmark designed to measure models’ ability to distinguish semantically correct from incorrect formalizations, and demonstrate that our trained CriticLeanGPT models can significantly outperform strong open- and closed-source baselines. Building on the CriticLean framework, we construct FineLeanCorpus, a dataset comprising over 509K problems that exhibits rich domain diversity, broad difficulty coverage, and high correctness based on human evaluation.Overall, our findings highlight that optimizing the critic phase is essential for producing reliable formalizations and we hope our CriticLean will provide valuable insights for future advances in formal mathematical reasoning.

OSCBench: Benchmarking Object State Change in Text-to-Video Generation

Xianjing Han, Bin Zhu Singapore Management University, Shiqi Hu, Franklin Mingzhe Li, Patrick Carrington Carnegie Mellon University, Roger Zimmermann National University of Singapore, Jingjing Chen Fudan University

Text-to-video (T2V) generation models have made rapid progress in producing visually high-quality and temporally coherent videos. However, existing benchmarks primarily focus on perceptual quality, text–video alignment, or physical plausibility, leaving a critical aspect of action understanding largely unexplored: object state change (OSC) explicitly specified in the text prompt. OSC refers to the transformation of an object’s state induced by an action, such as peeling a potato or slicing a lemon. In this paper, we introduce OSCBench, a benchmark specifically designed to assess OSC performance in T2V models. OSCBench is constructed from instructional cooking data and systematically organizes action–object interactions into regular, novel, and compositional scenarios to probe both in-distribution performance and generalization. We evaluate six representative open-source and proprietary T2V models using both human user study and multimodal large language model (MLLM)–based automatic evaluation. Our results show that, despite strong performance on semantic and scene alignment, current T2V models consistently struggle with accurate and temporally consistent object state changes, especially in novel and compositional settings. These findings position OSC as a key bottleneck in text-to-video generation and establish OSCBench as a diagnostic benchmark for advancing state-aware video generation models. TPS-Bench: Evaluating AI Agents’ Tool Planning & Scheduling Abilities in Compounding Tasks

Hanwen Xu Shanghai Jiaotong University, Xuyao Huang, Yuzhe Liu, Zhijie Deng Shanghai Jiaotong University

Large language model (LLM) agents have exhibited strong problem-solving competence across domains like research and coding. Yet, it remains underexplored whether LLM agents can tackle compounding real-world problems that require a diverse set of tools to complete. Given a broad, heterogeneous tool repository, LLM agents must not only select appropriate tools based on task planning analysis but also strategically schedule the execution order to ensure efficiency. This paper introduces TPS-Bench to benchmark the ability of LLM agents in solving such problems that demand Tool Planning and Scheduling. TPS-Bench collects 200 compounding tasks of two difficulty levels, based on a tool repository containing hundreds of model context protocol (MCP) tools. In particular, each task is composed of multiple subtasks, such as web search, map navigation, calendar checking, etc., and each subtask can be completed by a basic tool. Our evaluation emphasizes both task completion rate and efficiency. The empirical studies on popular closed-source and open-source LLMs indicate that most models can perform reasonable tool planning, but differ in scheduling. For example, GLM-4.5 achieves an outperforming task completion rate of 64.72% with extensive sequential tool calls, hence suffering from significantly long execution time. By contrast, GPT-4o prioritizes parallel tool calls but achieves only a 45.08% completion rate. Considering reinforcement learning (RL) can be a viable way to improve the scheduling efficiency without compromising performance, we perform an initial study on Qwen3-1.7B and witness a 14% reduction in execution time alongside a 6% gain in task completion rate based on only 597 RL training samples.

Business as Rulesual: A Benchmark and Framework for Business Rule Flow Modeling with LLMs

Chen Yang, Ruping Xu, Ruizhe Li University of Aberdeen, Bin Cao Zhejiang University of Technology, Jing Fan Zhejiang University of Technology

Extracting structured procedural knowledge from unstructured business documents is a critical yet unresolved bottleneck in process automation. While prior work has focused on extracting linear action flows from instructional texts (e.g., recipes), it has insufficiently addressed the complex logical structures—such as conditional branching and parallel execution—that are pervasive in real-world regulatory and administrative documents. Furthermore, existing benchmarks are limited by simplistic schemas and shallow logical dependencies, restricting progress toward logic-aware large language models (LLMs). To bridge this “Logic Gap”, we introduce \textbf{BREX}, a carefully curated benchmark comprising 409 real-world business documents and 2,855 expert-annotated rules. Unlike prior datasets centered on narrow service scenarios, BREX spans over 30 vertical domains, covering scientific, industrial, administrative, and financial regulations. We further propose \textbf{ExIde}, a structure-aware reasoning framework that investigates five distinct prompting strategies, ranging from implicit semantic alignment to executable grounding via pseudo-code generation, enabling explicit modeling of rule dependencies and providing an out-of-the-box framework for different business customers without finetuning their own LLMs. We benchmark ExIde using 13 state-of-the-art LLMs. Our extensive evaluation reveals that: (1) Executable grounding serves as a superior inductive bias, significantly outperforming standard prompts in rule extraction; and (2) Reasoning-optimized models demonstrate a distinct advantage in tracing long-range dependencies and non-linear rule dependencies compared to standard instruction-tuned models.

MAGMA: A Multi-Graph based Agentic Memory Architecture for AI Agents

Dongming Jiang, Yi Li University of Texas at Dallas, Guanpeng Li University of Florida, Bingzhe Li University of Texas at Dallas

Memory-Augmented Generation (MAG) extends large language models with external memory to support long-context reasoning, but existing approaches largely rely on semantic similarity over monolithic memory stores, entangling temporal, causal, and entity information. This design limits interpretability and alignment between query intent and retrieved evidence, leading to suboptimal reasoning accuracy. In this paper, we propose MAGMA, a multi-graph agentic memory architecture that represents each memory item across orthogonal semantic, temporal, causal, and entity graphs. MAGMA formulates retrieval as policy-guided traversal over these relational views, enabling query-adaptive selection and structured context construction. By decoupling memory representation from retrieval logic, MAGMA provides transparent reasoning paths and fine-grained control over retrieval. Experiments on LoCoMo and LongMemEval demonstrate that MAGMA consistently outperforms state-of-the-art agentic memory systems in long-horizon reasoning task.

Post-training quantization has emerged as a widely adopted technique for compressing and accelerating the inference of Large Language Models (LLMs). The primary challenges in LLMs quantization stem from activation outliers, which significantly degrade model performance especially at lower bit precision. While recent approaches attempt to mitigate outliers through linear transformations across feature dimensions, our analysis reveals that the transformed weights and activations still exhibit persistent outlier patterns with concentrated magnitude distributions. In this paper, we first model the mathematical relationship between quantization error and outliers, and then introduce a new metric Flatness to quantify the distribution of outliers. Based on this, we derive the theoretical optimal solution with respect to Flatness. Building on these insights, we propose Bidirectional Diagonal Quantization (BDQ), a novel post-training quantization framework that effectively disperses outlier patterns through optimized matrix transformations. BDQ strategically distributes outlier magnitudes across matrix dimensions via learned diagonal operations. Extensive experiments demonstrate that BDQ establishes a new quantization benchmark. It achieves less than 1% accuracy drop in W4A4 quantization on the LLaMA-3-8B model. In the more challenging W2A4KV16 experiment, compared to state-of-the-art approaches, BDQ reduces the performance gap by 39.1% on the DeepSeek-R1-Distill-LLaMA-70B model.

Knowledge-to-Verification: Exploring RLVR for LLMs in Knowledge-Intensive Domains

Zhonghang Yuan University of Science and Technology of China and Shanghai Artificial Intelligence Laboratory, Zhefan Wang Fudan University, Fang Hu Shanghai Innovation Institute and Fudan University, Zihong Chen, Jinzhe Li, Gang Li Fudan University, Jie Ying Shanghai Artificial Intelligence Laboratory, Huanjun Kong 等 10 位作者

Reinforcement learning with verifiable rewards (RLVR) has demonstrated promising potential to enhance the reasoning capabilities of large language models (LLMs) in domains such as mathematics and coding. However, its applications on knowledge-intensive domains have not been effectively explored due to the scarcity of high-quality verifiable data. Furthermore, current RLVR focuses solely on the correctness of final answers, leading to the limitations of flawed reasoning and sparse reward signals. In this work, we propose Knowledge-to-Verification (K2V), a framework that extends RLVR to knowledge-intensive domains through automated verifiable data synthesis, while enabling verification of the LLM’s reasoning process. Extensive experiments demonstrate that K2V enhances the reasoning of LLM in knowledge-intensive domains without significantly compromising the model’s general capabilities. This study also suggests that integrating automated data synthesis with reasoning verification is a promising direction to enhance model capabilities in these broader domains.

Retrieval-Augmented Defense: Adaptive and Controllable Jailbreak Prevention for Large Language Models

Guangyu Yang University of Cambridge, Jinghong Chen, Jingbiao Mei, Weizhe Lin Huawei Technologies Ltd., Bill Byrne Amazon and University of Cambridge

Large Language Models (LLMs) remain vulnerable to jailbreak attacks, which attempt to elicit harmful responses from LLMs. The evolving nature and diversity of these attacks pose many challenges for defense systems, including (1) adaptation to counter emerging attack strategies without costly retraining, and (2) control of the trade-off between safety and utility. To address these challenges, we propose Retrieval-Augmented Defense (RAD), a novel framework for jailbreak detection that incorporates a database of known attack examples into Retrieval-Augmented Generation, which is used to infer the underlying, malicious user query and jailbreak strategy used to attack the system. RAD enables training-free updates for newly discovered jailbreak strategies and provides a mechanism to balance safety and utility. Experiments on StrongREJECT show that RAD substantially reduces the effectiveness of strong jailbreak attacks such as PAP and PAIR while maintaining low rejection rates for benign queries. We propose a novel evaluation scheme and show that RAD achieves a robust safety-utility trade-off across a range of operating points in a controllable manner.

When Personalization Tricks Detectors: The Feature-Inversion Trap in Machine-Generated Text Detection

Lang Gao Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence, Xuhui Li, Chenxi Wang, Mingzhe Li, Wei Liu, Zirui Song, Jinghui Zhang Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence, Rui Yan Wuhan University 等 10 位作者

As large language models (LLMs) increasingly imitate personal writing styles, personalization has become a key challenge for machine-generated text (MGT) detection. Yet personalized MGT detection remains largely underexplored. In this work, we introduce StyloBench, the first benchmark for evaluating detector robustness under personalization, built from literary and blog texts paired with their LLM-generated imitations. Experiments across diverse detectors show pronounced performance instability under personalization, with frequent inversions relative to general-domain behavior. To better understand this limitation, we conduct an in-depth analysis and attribute it to a feature-inversion trap, i.e., features that are effective for separating human-written text (HWT) from MGT in general flip their effect in personalized contexts, ultimately misleading detectors. Motivated by this, we propose StyloCheck, a diagnostic framework for predicting detector robustness under personalization. StyloCheck identifies the inverted features and quantifies detector dependence using perturbed texts pronounced in the features. In our experiments, StyloCheck predicts both the direction and magnitude of cross-domain performance shifts with an 85% correlation to actual outcomes. We hope this work will raise awareness of the structural risks introduced by personalization and motivate more robust approaches to personalized MGT detection. Timely Machine: Awareness of Time Makes Test-Time Scaling Agentic

Yichuan Ma Fudan University, Linyang Li Shanghai Artificial Intelligence Laboratory, Yongkang Chen, Peiji Li, Xiaozhe Li, Qipeng Guo Shanghai AI Laboratory, Dahua Lin The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Kai Chen Shanghai AI Laboratory

As large language models (LLMs) increasingly tackle complex reasoning tasks, test-time scaling has become critical for enhancing capabilities. However, in agentic scenarios with frequent tool calls, the traditional generation-length-based definition breaks down: tool latency decouples inference time from generation length. We propose Timely Machine, redefining test-time as wall-clock time, where models dynamically adjust strategies based on time budgets. We introduce Timely-Eval, a benchmark spanning high-frequency tool calls, low-frequency tool calls, and time-constrained reasoning. By varying tool latency, we find smaller models excel with fast feedback through more interactions, while larger models dominate high-latency settings via superior interaction quality. Moreover, existing models fail to adapt reasoning to time budgets. We propose Timely-RL to address this gap. After cold-start supervised fine-tuning, we use reinforcement learning to enhance temporal planning. Timely-RL improves time budget awareness and consistently boosts performance across Timely-Eval. We hope our work offers a new perspective on test-time scaling for the agentic era.

MeanAudio: Fast and Faithful Text-to-Audio Generation with Mean Flows

Xiquan Li, Junxi Liu, Yuzhe Liang Shanghai Jiaotong University, Zhikang Niu, Wenxi Chen, Xie Chen

Recent years have witnessed remarkable progress in Text-to-Audio Generation (TTA), providing sound creators with powerful tools to transform inspirations into vivid audio. Yet despite these advances, current TTA systems often suffer from slow inference speed, which greatly hinders the efficiency and smoothness of audio creation. In this paper, we present MeanAudio, a fast and faithful text-to-audio generator capable of rendering realistic sound with only one function evaluation (1-NFE). MeanAudio leverages: (i) the MeanFlow objective with guided velocity target that significantly accelerates inference speed, (ii) an enhanced Flux-style transformer with dual text encoders for better semantic alignment and synthesis quality, and (iii) an efficient instantaneous-to-mean curriculum that speeds up convergence and enables training on consumer-grade GPUs. Through a comprehensive evaluation study, we demonstrate that MeanAudio achieves state-of-the-art performance in single-step audio generation. Specifically, it achieves a real-time factor (RTF) of 0.013 on a single NVIDIA RTX 3090, yielding a 100x speedup over SOTA diffusion-based TTA systems. Moreover, MeanAudio also shows strong performance in multi-step generation, enabling smooth transitions across successive synthesis steps.

AdvancedIF: Rubric-Based Benchmarking and Reinforcement Learning for Advancing LLM Instruction Following

Yun He Meta, Wenzhe Li Princeton University, Hejia Zhang Facebook, Songlin Li Facebook and Stanford University, Karishma Mandyam, Sopan Khosla Facebook, Yuanhao Xiong University of California, Los Angeles, Nanshu Wang Facebook 等 25 位作者

Recent progress in large language models (LLMs) has led to impressive performance on a range of tasks, yet advanced instruction following (IF)—especially for complex, multi-turn, and system-prompted instructions—remains a significant challenge. Rigorous evaluation and effective training for such capabilities are hindered by the lack of high-quality, human-annotated benchmarks and reliable, interpretable reward signals. In this work, we introduce AdvancedIF, a comprehensive benchmark featuring over 1,600 prompts and expert-curated rubrics that assess LLMs’ ability to follow complex, multi-turn, and system-level instructions. We also open-source the evaluation script of AdvancedIF. We further propose RIFL (Rubric-based Instruction-Following Learning), a novel post-training pipeline that leverages rubric generation, a finetuned rubric verifier, and reward shaping to enable effective reinforcement learning for instruction following. Extensive experiments demonstrate that RIFL substantially improves the instruction-following abilities of LLMs, achieving a 6.7% absolute gain on AdvancedIF and strong results on public benchmarks. Our ablation studies confirm the effectiveness of each component in RIFL. This work establishes rubrics as a powerful tool for both training and evaluating advanced IF in LLMs, paving the way for more capable and reliable AI systems.

Seeing the Whole Elephant: A Benchmark for Failure Attribution in LLM-based Multi-Agent Systems

Mengzhuo Chen, Junjie Wang Institute of Software, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Fangwen Mu, Yawen Wang, Zhe Liu Institute of Software Chinese Academy of Sciences, Huanxiang Feng, Qing Wang

Failure attribution, i.e., identifying the responsible agent and decisive step of a failure, is particularly challenging in LLM-based multi-agent systems (MAS) due to their natural-language reasoning, nondeterministic outputs, and intricate interaction dynamics. A reliable benchmark is therefore essential to guide and evaluate attribution techniques. Yet existing benchmarks rely on partially observable traces that capture only agent outputs, omitting the inputs and context that developers actually use when debugging. We argue that attribution should be studied under full execution observability, aligning with real-world developer-facing scenarios where complete traces, rather than only outputs, are accessible for diagnosis. To this end, we introduce TraceElephant, a benchmark designed for failure attribution with full execution traces and reproducible environments. We then systematically evaluate failure attribution techniques across various configurations. Specifically, full traces improve attribution accuracy by up to 76.5% over a partial-observation counterpart, confirming that missing inputs obscure many failure causes. TraceElephant provides a foundation for follow-up failure attribution research, promoting evaluation practices that reflect real-world debugging and supporting the development of more transparent MASs.
