ReSI-Math: Exploring Recoverable Capability Frontiers for Efficient Reasoning Improvement

Yao Cui, Zhen Yang, Yuandong Wang, Yangfu Zhu, Tianyu Wo, Zhenzhou Shao

原文摘要

Reinforcement learning with verifiable rewards (RLVR) has become an effective approach for improving mathematical reasoning in large language models. However, a fundamental question remains: when a model fails to solve a problem, does it truly lack the underlying capability? In this work, we reveal that direct failure does not necessarily imply inability. Some reasoning failures can be recovered by exploring the model's own trajectories, exposing a recoverable capability frontier: a policy-dependent region where solutions are not reliably generated through direct decoding but can be elicited through trajectory-level search. Based on this observation, we introduce ReSI-Math, a framework that explores recoverable capability frontiers and converts recovered capabilities into data-efficient RLVR supervision. ReSI-Math uses Self-Judge-guided evolutionary search to identify recoverable failures under a fixed policy and adaptively selects frontier problems for sequential RLVR as the policy evolves. On Qwen3-VL-8B, correct-incorrect trajectory crossover produces 272 verifier-confirmed correct offspring from 621 attempts (43.8%). After three sequential one-shot RLVR stages, the MATH500 and WE-MATH average improves from 78.71 to 80.16. Under matched single-problem RLVR, random selection reaches only 53.31 versus 54.16 for frontier-guided Q1.

Running a 20B Video Diffusion Transformer on Consumer Hardware: A Deployment and Measurement Report for MiniMax H3 on Apple Silicon

Zhenzhou, Shi, Yizhe, Shi

原文摘要

We report the end-to-end deployment and measurement of MiniMax H3, a 20.38-billion-parameter video diffusion transformer (DiT) - the count measured from the safetensors headers of the Q8 checkpoint as deployed locally (Section 3.2) - running entirely on consumer Apple Silicon hardware: an Apple Mac mini with M5 Pro chip and 64 GiB of unified memory. Using the official bf16-to-Q8 (8-bit, group size 64) quantization path executed locally on the machine, we produced a working text-to-video pipeline with no cloud dependency. We document the full deployment procedure, including two non-trivial blockers and their fixes, and report measured figures for build time, peak memory, and per-clip render latency across four resolution tiers (Draft 384x640 through Native 768x1344). A 15.08-second 576x1024 clip rendered in 4838.49 seconds with a measured MLX peak of 27.467 GiB. We further operated the system as an unattended production pipeline, completing 17 clips in 26.49 hours with zero render failures. A blind human review of the 17 production clips (generation prompts withheld) averaged 3.12, 3.18, and 2.94 out of 5 for structural integrity, temporal consistency, and visible artifacts. All figures in this report are our own measurements except where explicitly labeled as third-party data. This is a systems/empirical report; we make no claim of model innovation.

MathSight: A Benchmark Exploring Have Vision-Language Models Really Seen in University-Level Mathematical Reasoning?

Yuandong Wang Capital Normal University, Yao Cui, Yuxin Zhao, Zhen Yang, Yangfu Zhu, Zhenzhou Shao

原文摘要

Recent advances in Vision-Language Models (VLMs) have achieved impressive progress in multimodal mathematical reasoning. Yet, howmuch visual information truly contributes to reasoning remains unclear. Existing benchmarks report strong overall performance but seldom isolate the role of the image modality, leaving open whether VLMs genuinely leverage visual understanding or merely depend on linguistic priors. To address this, we present MathSight, a university-level multimodal mathematical reasoning benchmark designed to disentangle and quantify the effect of visual input. Each problem includes multiple visual variants—original, hand-drawn, photocaptured—and a text-only condition for controlled comparison. Experiments on state-of-the-art VLMs reveal a consistent trend: the contribution of visual information diminishes with increasing problem difficulty. Remarkably, Qwen3-VL without any image input surpasses both its multimodal variants and GPT-5, underscoring the need for benchmarks like MathSight to advance genuine vision-grounded reasoning in future models. Semantic-Adaptive Diffusion for Dynamic Spatiotemporal Fusion

Zhang, Jinsong, Qu, Ying, Liao, Yuan, Qi, Hairong, Shao, Zhenzhou

原文摘要

Frequent and precise land surface monitoring is critical for numerous applications, yet existing satellites struggle to achieve both simultaneously. Spatiotemporal fusion (STF) tackles this challenge by integrating multiple satellite images to generate data with improved temporal and spatial resolution, enabling more frequent and precise land surface observations. However, current methods often fail to recover dynamic landscape changes due to significant scale discrepancies among multi-source images. To address these challenges, we propose a semantic-adaptive diffusion framework for dynamic spatiotemporal fusion (SA-STF), which constrains the solution space using low-resolution and high-frequency features decoupled via a Taylor-inspired decoder. By incorporating temporal feature alignment and semantic-adaptive fusion modules, SA-STF projects multimodal images with temporal dynamics into a unified latent space, and adaptively enhances spatial details while maintaining the spectral consistency of the reconstructed images. Experiments on benchmark datasets demonstrate that SA-STF outperforms existing methods in both quantitative and qualitative evaluations, particularly in complex and dynamic scenes.
