Using Transformers to Generate 3-Manifold Triangulations

Daniel Bruwel, Ashvni Narayanan, Jonathan Spreer

原文摘要

Using dehydration signatures as an encoding, we train GPT-2-style transformers to generate triangulations of 3-dimensional manifolds. Our main runs each use approximately 3 exaFLOPs, spanning a 200 million parameter model trained on 60 million sphere triangulations to an 11 million parameter model trained on 1.1 billion sphere triangulations. The optimal model has 10 blocks, width 640 and generates dehydration signatures of closed manifolds of various topological types at a rate of 6.9%, 82% of which are spheres. To investigate how our method scales, we use the technique of IsoFLOP curves on 15-tetrahedron triangulations of the 3-sphere, over a compute range of 6 to 3000 petaFLOPs, and observe neural scaling behaviour. We extract a parameter scaling exponent of $α= 0.49$ ($[0.48, 0.50]$ stat, $\pm 0.02$ syst), and an optimal ratio of 234 tokens per parameter for training. In addition, we present a number of smaller experiments, including evidence that transformers are able to learn to count degree-one edges near-perfectly, but get progressively worse when counting edges with higher degrees.

Concertina: Embodying Manipulation and Cognition in One Diffusion Vision-Language Model

Chengcheng Wang, Wei He, Wenhao Li, Hongguang Li, Kai Han, Jianyuan Guo, Chang Xu

原文摘要

Most vision-language-action (VLA) policies decouple manipulation from cognition by bolting an external action mechanism onto a vision-language model (VLM)--either quantizing actions into discrete tokens whose errors bear no stable correspondence to physical displacements, or delegating continuous trajectory generation to a separate action expert whose gradients compete with or are blocked from updating the VLM backbone. We argue that manipulation and cognition should instead be embodied in the same model, shifting from a decoupled VLA to an Embodied Vision-Language Model (eVLM). We introduce Concertina, an eVLM that places continuous trajectory representation, blockwise generation, and physical-coordinate supervision directly on the computation and parameter path of a shared diffusion VLM backbone. Each control timestep is encoded as one continuous latent action token in the backbone hidden space, and the shared Transformer reconstructs temporally ordered action blocks via the same corrupt-and-reconstruct operator used for multimodal pretraining. Active action projections account for only 0.21% of parameters in the 4.46B model with zero separate action-generator layers, compared with 16.5%-35.1% dedicated action-expert capacity in representative continuous VLAs. Using our proposed Action Interface Audit, we confirm that cross-time trajectory coupling emerges in the middle and late layers of the shared backbone rather than at the action interfaces. On standard benchmarks, Concertina achieves 98.15% average success on regular LIBERO, 85.9% on the 10,030-task LIBERO-Plus benchmark, and 4.142 average completed chain length on CALVIN ABC-D. 原文摘要

Next-generation AI must manage vast personal data, diverse tools, and multi-step reasoning, yet most benchmarks remain context-free and single-turn. We present ASTRA-bench (Assistant Skills in Tool-use, Reasoning \& Action-planning), a benchmark that uniquely unifies time-evolving personal context with an interactive toolbox and complex user intents. Our event-driven pipeline generates 2,413 scenarios across four protagonists, grounded in longitudinal life events and annotated by referential, functional, and informational complexity. Evaluation of state-of-the-art models (e.g., Claude-4.5-Opus, DeepSeek-V3.2) reveals significant performance degradation under high-complexity conditions, with argument generation emerging as the primary bottleneck. These findings expose critical limitations in current agents' ability to ground reasoning within messy personal context and orchestrate reliable multi-step plans. We release ASTRA-bench with a full execution environment and evaluation scripts to provide a diagnostic testbed for developing truly context-aware AI assistants.

RLGPA: A Reinforcement Learning-Guided Granularity Planning Attack for Decision-Based Sparse Adversarial Examples

Chao Zhou, Shenghua He, Jiaxin Mo, Qiangguo Yu, Fengchuang Xing

原文摘要

Decision-based sparse attacks must reduce perturbation support using only the victim's predicted label. The best restoration strategy varies as support contracts: coarse removal works early, while tail states need finer, history-aware tests. We propose RLGPA, an online reinforcement learning method that schedules support-reduction executors and their granularity under a hard query budget. A masked Dueling Double DQN selects among seven stable policy--scale actions; each action produces support-relative restoration groups that are rebuilt after every macro decision. A feasibility-preserving executor commits only adversarial restorations and feeds support gain and query cost back to the planner. Under the matched top-1-label oracle, RLGPA reaches 61\% targeted ASR at sparsity 0.01 on CIFAR-10 (vs. 25\% SparseEvo, 0\% Pointwise), and 75.5\%/73.0\% on ResNet50/ViT at sparsity 0.005 (vs. 29.0\%/15.5\%). A fixed-probe test reduces median \(L_0\) from 165 to 23 after 40 images without any update. State-blind and state-shuffled controls degrade significantly, confirming that the learned policy uses attack state; the main gains come from state-conditioned executor scheduling and dynamic repartition. Enhancing Repository-Level Code Completion with Reinforcement Learning in Real-World Scenarios

Zhenlong Dai, Zhuoluo Zhao, Xiu Tang, Sai Wu, Chang Yao, Zhipeng Gao, Jingyuan Chen

原文摘要

The rapid development of large language models (LLMs) for code, which closely aligns with the practical needs of real-world software development, has sparked growing attention in repository-level code completion. However, existing Code LLMs present challenges in focusing on suitable contexts from the repository and in deeply reasoning about cross-file dependencies. To address these challenges, we propose a novel reinforcement learning framework for repository-level code completion. To better understand both in-file and cross-file contexts, we employ identifier-driven intent recognition to capture completion intent, thereby improving the model's performance in real-world scenarios. To enhance cross-file reasoning, we propose a reward-driven completion learning to effectively reward in complex repository completion scenarios. To guide LLMs in completing code that aligns with intended functionality and repository context, we introduce a selective-exploration strategy that directs the model to focus on low-confidence, high-reward tokens, promoting the exploration of valuable, underexplored completion patterns. Experimental results show that our approach significantly improves the performance of Code LLMs. The code and the dataset are available at https://github.com/zhenlongDai/RepoCompletion.

Generative Retrieval under Real-Time Supply Constraints in Local Commerce

Shaopeng Liang, Biao Zhang, Hongzhen Ye, Zeyang Hou, Ma Jiang, Jintao Tu, yunxi. hz, Zhijia Fang 等 11 位作者

原文摘要

Generative retrieval predicts semantic identifiers for candidate entities. In local retail and food delivery, candidates must also be serviceable for a particular user at a particular time. Location, weather, and traffic reshape merchant and product supply, so a catalog-valid identifier may be infeasible for the current request. Post-generation filtering removes such candidates only after beam capacity and inference computation have been spent. We study retrieval over an explicitly materialized, request-time supply snapshot, where short output sequences leave little opportunity to amortize online constraint preparation. Our RTP-LLM pipeline compiles eligible residual-quantization identifiers into a compressed sparse row prefix index, overlaps CPU compilation with model prefill, and shares the uploaded index across beams. Legal expansions retain original-model log probabilities, and constraint states follow selected beam parents. We formalize snapshot-relative identifier validity and distinguish it from entity-level eligibility and freshness. The implementation generates three-token merchant identifiers. Historical evidence covers T+1 daily-refresh catalog constraints and subsequent request-scoped serving evaluations. In one matched-beam daily-constraint case, filtered merchants decrease from 170 of 299 candidates to 29 of 299; residual distance filtering motivates request-specific constraints. A different-host comparison with 30,000 supplied entries reports a 0.6 ms service-side latency increment, while client measurements expose additional request costs. Captured requests from three geographic settings characterize behavior across supply sizes and output widths. These observations span development stages and measurement boundaries. They establish a practical implementation and identify bottlenecks, but do not establish compute savings at matched retrieval quality.

ActQuant: Sub-4-bit Action-Guided Backbone Weight-Only Quantization for Vision-Language-Action Models

原文摘要

Vision-Language-Action (VLA) models exhibit remarkable action generation for embodied intelligence, but their heavy compute make deployment on edge platforms impractical. Aggressive, sub-4-bit weight quantization is the natural solution, yet existing post-training quantization (PTQ) methods suffer severe performance degradation in this regime. To address this, we introduce ActQuant, an action-guided mixed-precision PTQ framework that operates in two stages: (1) an inter-tensor bit allocator that assigns each weight matrix a single bit-width based on how much it contributes to predicting the agent's actions; (2) an intra-tensor scale optimizer tunes per-block quantization scales using action-aware curvature, so that dynamic range is concentrated on the weights most influential for control. To deliver the on-device benefits of our aggressive quantization, we further introduce OmniModel.cpp, an agentic conversion pipeline that ports architectures into a native C/C++ runtime with efficient low-bit kernels. We evaluate ActQuant both in simulation and on a real-world 6-DoF UR3 arm, with all models deployed through OmniModel.cpp. On the LIBERO benchmark, ActQuant is the only method that operates at or below 3 bits-per-weight, retaining 95.0% on OpenVLA-OFT and 94.8% on $π_{0.5}$. Pushed further, ActQuant reaches 2.5 bpw at 90.1% on OpenVLA-OFT, compressing the backbone from 14.3 GB to 2.7 GB (5.3$\times$). On the physical UR3 arm, $π_{0.5}$ quantized with ActQuant retains the baseline's success rate while reducing the memory footprint by 2.5$\times$.

The Quantization Benefits of Residual-Free Transformers

Yiping Ji, Mahalakshmi Sabanayagam, Peyman Moghadam, Hemanth Saratchandran, Simon Lucey

原文摘要

Large-scale transformer training and deployment are increasingly constrained by the transfer of activations, gradients, and optimizer states across accelerators. Low-bit quantization offers a natural remedy, but transformer activations are often heavy-tailed and outlier-dominated, making simple quantization highly lossy. We show that this difficulty is not only a property of the quantizer, but also of the architecture. Specifically, residual connections can drive transformer activations away from Gaussianity during training. Using controlled comparisons between residual and residual-free transformers, we demonstrate that this effect leads to substantially higher quantization error and accuracy degradation at low precision in residual models. We explain the phenomenon through an excess kurtosis analysis, showing that residual mixing can amplify non-Gaussianity, whereas dense mixing in residual-free models contracts non-Gaussianity. We then show that residual-free transformers can be made trainable using orthogonal initialization, spectral or second-order optimization, and depth-aware scaling of attention temperature. In language tasks, while there is a small drop in full precision performance, these models retain near-Gaussian activations and exhibit significantly improved robustness to low-bit quantization. Our results identify an accuracy--compressibility trade-off in transformer design and motivate architecture-level approaches to quantization-friendly foundation models.

DelegateEval: Evaluating Platforms for Personal External Service Agents

Jichao Li, Jinrong Lu, Manjiang Yu, Zhixuan Liu

原文摘要

AI agents that work for an individual over time may also help that individual serve external clients. We define a personal external service agent as an agent authorized and continuously managed by a specific individual to accept client requests, deliver work, and provide ongoing support using that person's knowledge, experience, professional methods, and service boundaries. Such agents could allow individuals to serve more clients with less direct involvement and generate economic value at scale. We propose DelegateEval, a platform-level evaluation framework for agent systems that may combine large language models, reusable skills, protocols such as MCP, and executable tool environments. It covers eight dimensions: ease of creation, service discovery and matching, delivery quality, expertise inheritance, service continuity, learning and improvement, reliability and governance, and efficiency and value. These dimensions assess whether a platform enables people with different backgrounds to turn their expertise into ongoing services that deliver verifiable work, develop capabilities through experience, and remain economically feasible. We present the framework and an experimental design. Complete datasets, executable environments, a unified scoring protocol, and cross-model results remain to be developed and empirically validated.

Coverage Hides Churn: Auditing and Preserving Conformal Decisions as VLM Label Registries Grow

Jai Kumar Sharma, Peeyush Tapadiya

原文摘要

Vision-language classifiers can learn new labels from text alone, so the label lists they serve keep growing. We show that this growth silently changes conformal decisions about old labels. Common softmax-based conformal scores compare each label with an average over all labels; adding labels changes that average, and with it the score of every old label, even when the model, the image, and the old calibration data stay the same. Recalibrating after the update keeps the coverage guarantee, yet across eleven settings it changes at least one old decision on 53-90% of new images. Coverage cannot reveal this, because it checks only the true label: in five controlled settings that keep the old calibration, so that only the normalizer changes, old-class coverage moves by at most 0.01 while 60-67% of images change. We propose a lifecycle audit that measures these changes alongside coverage and set size, and a simple fix, PrefixCP: each class keeps the label registry that existed when it was added. Its old decisions then never change, each class keeps exact class-conditional coverage under exchangeability, and one prefix scan computes all historical normalizers at once. PrefixCP recovers 40.9-58.5% of the set-size gap between never updating the reference and recalibrating, which gives smaller sets but changes old decisions.

More: Mode-Optimized Reasoning with Self-Adaptive Effort for Self-Evolving Agents

Dianxing Shi, Dingjie Fu, Tianyu Lei, Wangjie Qiu

原文摘要

Self-evolving training improves the performance of agents on difficult tasks through verifiable feedback, but it often applies costly deliberation uniformly across tasks. To address this problem, we propose Mode-Optimized Reasoning with Self-Adaptive Effort (MORE), a self-evolving training framework that adaptively selects both reasoning form and computational effort for each task. Specifically, MORE follows a two-stage training paradigm: (i) \emph{Stage 1} establishes a compact prior over direct answering, short and long chain-of-thought, and code-based reasoning, and (ii) \emph{Stage 2} self-evolves this prior with Mode-Adaptive and Test-time Effort PPO (MATE-PPO) on generated, verifiable task streams without curated data. By learning mode selection and token expenditure jointly, MORE allocates concise reasoning to tasks that permit it while retaining extended deliberation where it is useful. Across coding, mathematics, and general-reasoning benchmarks, MORE achieves consistent performance gains on Base and Coder backbones at model scales from 3B to 14B. During inference, MORE demonstrates higher accuracy and better efficiency, with markedly shorter response lengths and reduced inference time.

MemForm: Benchmarking Memory Formation Poisoning in LLM Agents

Haowen Pan, Pengyang Shao, Yunshan Ma, Yanzheng Jin, Naixin Zhai, Xiang Wang, Xun Yang

原文摘要

Long-term memory enables LLM agents to learn from past interactions but exposes memory formation to adversarial influence. Existing studies primarily organize memory poisoning by attack channels, corruption patterns, or lifecycle stages, leaving formation interfaces insufficiently characterized. We formulate Memory Formation Poisoning as adversarial manipulation of the interfaces through which persistent agent memory is produced and committed, and introduce MemForm, a controlled diagnostic benchmark covering five interfaces: Content, Evidence, Scope, Selection, and Path Poisoning. We introduce Selection and Path Poisoning as controlled intervention categories that isolate retention and consolidation order effects, respectively. Each category pairs clean and poisoned conditions with interface-specific controls. Evaluations across six LLMs and two response formats reveal broad susceptibility at all five interfaces under the evaluated memory protocols and implementations. Crucially, authentic experiences with successful outcomes do not guarantee reliable behavior after memory formation: changes to contextual support, retention, or consolidation order can induce undesirable downstream behavior. In particular, consolidation order can alter behavior even with identical retained experiences, depending on the memory formation procedure. Additional analyses show that interface applicability depends on memory architecture and that Path Poisoning susceptibility depends on the updater. The evaluated defenses provide incomplete mitigation that varies by interface. These findings motivate protecting both what is committed to persistent memory and how memory is formed from experiences. Code and data are available at https://github.com/opanhw/memform-code.

Degree-Equalized View-Graph Selection under Tight Pair Budgets

Minhyeok Im, Jongseong Brad Choi

原文摘要

Fully matching all image pairs in Structure-from-Motion is quadratic in the number of images, so practical pipelines pass a budgeted subset to the final matching and reconstruction backend. One-shot selectors score candidates with image retrieval, cheap geometric probes, or a learned prior and finalize B pairs before full matching. Their priorities do not account for the degree already allocated to each image, which can concentrate edges on a few images. Across nine large 1DSfM internet photo collections at B=2N, the coverage top-B selector leaves 54% of covered images with realized degree at most two. Reconstruction can then fail even when the selected graph is nearly connected and almost fully verified. Our training-free greedy rule, Degree-Equalized Allocation (DEAL), exponentially downweights pairs whose endpoints are already well covered. On these collections, DEAL improves the one-shot selector built on the same prior (from 0.776 to 0.929) and matches the mean registered-image ratio of an SfM-supervised edge prior under the shared backend (0.929 vs 0.930), without training. On the largely saturated 38-scene standard benchmark suite, DEAL gives the highest mean among the evaluated training-free selectors (0.875 vs 0.858 one-shot).

ZYFA: Speed and Accuracy of FP8 FlashAttention on AMD CDNA4

Quentin Anthony, Ganesh Bikshandi, Praneeth Medepalli, Stephen Ebert

原文摘要

Attention is a core building block of frontier models and often dominates compute-bound prefill at long context. FP8 matrix instructions offer twice the peak throughput of BF16, but they accelerate only matrix multiplication, and the softmax between the two matrix multiplications of attention runs on vector units that FP8 does not accelerate. On the AMD Instinct MI355X, the vendor's AITER kernels reach 39% of peak FP8 matrix throughput at 32K tokens, compared with 49% in BF16. Attention is also more numerically sensitive to quantization than feed-forward layers, and unlike NVIDIA's Hopper and Blackwell GPUs, the MI355X does not track the completion of matrix instructions in hardware, so overlapping the softmax with the matrix multiplications depends on instruction order. We present ZYFA, prefill kernels for the MI355X built on three techniques: (1) computing each FP8 probability directly from its score with a multiply-add and an integer conversion instead of an exponential; (2) a ping-pong schedule in which one group of threads computes its softmax while another executes its matrix multiplications; and (3) scaling each block of probabilities up by a power of two before rounding, and normalizing by the sum of the rounded probabilities. On attention inputs captured from three models and timed at sustained clock speeds, ZYFA achieves 1.16-1.76x the throughput of AITER. On the Gaussian inputs of kernel benchmarks at 32K tokens, it achieves 1.26-1.37x at head dimension 128 and 1.99x for DeepSeek-style multi-head latent attention. The sustained clock of the MI355X depends on operand values, so throughput on random inputs does not reliably predict throughput on real model activations. At head dimension 128, ZYFA's numerical error is within a few percent of that of Composable Kernel and Triton and 62-78% lower than that of AITER's. The source code is available at https://github.com/Zyphra/zyfa.

Learning Multi-Agent Orchestration:Higher-Order Interactions in Policy Improvement

Kaixuan Liu, Guojun Xiong

原文摘要

Learned orchestration has emerged as a promising paradigm for large language model (LLM)-based multi-agent systems, in which a central orchestrator selects agents and controls the information they receive throughout a task. Despite rapid empirical progress, existing methods train the orchestrator by crediting each decision with its own advantage, implicitly assuming that the other decisions in the episode stay fixed. This assumption fails in orchestration, where the contribution of each decision to the final outcome depends on the decisions preceding it, so the gain of a joint update is not the sum of its per-decision effects. To address this challenge, we introduce \textbf{IAPO}, an interaction-aware policy optimization framework that explicitly accounts for interactions among decisions. Specifically, IAPO exactly decomposes the performance difference between two policies into the effects of individual decisions and their interactions, which we prove can account for half of the attainable gain, and then optimizes both from sampled trajectories while certifying that every update is an improvement. On long-input versions of GSM8K, MATH, DROP, MBPP and HumanEval, against fifteen published multi-agent and workflow-search systems on the same 7B executor, IAPO's deployed plans reach the strongest system's accuracy with fewer tokens, and removing the interaction term costs 7 to 17 points of accuracy on code.

Fast and Reliable Open-Vocabulary Object Search with Absence Detection from Robot Memory

Nicholas Paul, Devson Butani, Eric Martinson

原文摘要

Mobile manipulators deployed in everyday human environments, such as homes for assistive care or flexible automation, often need to locate specific objects on demand from accumulated observations. Equally important, they must reliably determine when a target is absent before committing to navigation or interaction. Existing approaches demand either slow exhaustive re-processing or expensive 3D representations, and are evaluated on recall and accuracy rather than specificity, leaving their ability to abstain on missing targets unmeasured. We find existing systems that search using text or visual embedding almost never abstain on absent objects achieving at most 9\% specificity. To support accurate search at speed, we present a two-stage architecture that decouples fast candidate retrieval from verified selection, enabling both high recall and reliable absence detection from sequential RGB observations with pose. We evaluate eight retrieval-selection configurations plus an exhaustive search baseline across ScanNet apartment scenes, including significant numbers of absent objects. Adding a visual verification step to caption-based retrieval matches or exceeds exhaustive search reliability while requiring an order of magnitude fewer detector calls. We reproduce ScanNet scores on a physical robot operating entirely on-board with a single consumer GPU running in real time.

Statistical and Privacy Guarantees for Deep M-Regression via Stochastic Gradient Langevin Dynamics

Yeheng Ge, Jian Huang, Shuyuan Wu

原文摘要

In this article, we study deep nonparametric regression trained via stochastic gradient Langevin dynamics (SGLD), a variant of stochastic gradient descent that injects carefully calibrated Gaussian noise during optimization. Using a PAC-Bayesian analysis tailored to deep ReLU networks, we establish an excess-risk bound that simultaneously accounts for network approximation error, statistical complexity, and the algorithmic cost accumulated along the SGLD trajectory. Under a Bernstein condition and within a stable SGLD regime, the excess-risk bound contains a stochastic term whose coefficient is inversely proportional to the variance of injected noise, while the estimator retains the optimal rate for nonparametric regression under the Hölder smoothness condition up to logarithmic factors. This result provides an approximation-error-aware, rate-optimal statistical perspective on the widely observed generalization benefits of moderate SGLD noise. For per-sample clipped SGLD, we further establish an exact f-DP guarantee and the corresponding asymptotic $μ$-GDP guarantee for the proposed estimator. We establish statistical convergence rates and differential privacy guarantees for DNN estimators trained using SGLD, while explicitly accounting for both network approximation error and the effect of injected noise in the excess-risk bound. Extensive simulation studies and analyses of two real datasets examine the finite-sample predictive performance and privacy-utility behavior of the proposed procedure.

ToolSearcher: Optimizing Tool Selection at Scale via Reinforcement Learning

Zhenlong Dai, Xujie Song, Zitong Wang, Tong Niu, Jian liu, Weiqiang Wang, Xiu Tang, Sai Wu 等 10 位作者

原文摘要

Large language models (LLMs) excel at natural language processing but struggle to interact with external environments. Tool learning provides a promising way to extend LLMs into actionable agents, where tool selection is a critical prerequisite for successful tool use. Existing work often assumes a small or predefined set of tools, leaving large-scale tool selection underexplored. Real-world repositories contain a vast and diverse array of tools, making it difficult for LLMs to effectively search, distinguish, and compose tools under context-length constraints. We identify large-scale tool selection as a new challenge for agentic reinforcement learning, highlighting that existing RL methods for knowledge-based question answering are inadequate for selecting tools while considering compatibility. To address this challenge, we propose ToolSearcher, a novel RL framework for effective multi-turn search and fine-grained optimization in large-scale tool selection. Specifically, we introduce category-constrained tool discrimination to improve the model's ability to distinguish functionally similar tools, event-level search modeling to explicitly optimize the discovery of target tools during multi-turn search, and trajectory-aligned credit allocation to provide fine-grained reward signals for different stages of the search-selection process. Extensive experiments on large-scale tool selection benchmarks demonstrate that ToolSearcher consistently outperforms a set of strong baselines in challenging settings involving iterative search and complex tool composition.

OmniFaceRig: Fully Automatic Inner-Mouth-Aware Face Rigging Across Diverse 3D Character Topologies

原文摘要

Facial rigging--creating Facial Action Coding System (FACS) blendshapes and inner-mouth geometry (teeth, gums, and tongue)--remains a major bottleneck in 3D character production. We present OmniFaceRig, a fully automatic end-to-end pipeline that converts a static surface-only 3D character mesh, with no pre-modeled oral cavity, into an inner-mouth-aware FACS rig with up to 155 blendshapes, procedurally fitted teeth, gums, and tongue, and re-packed UV/texture. It supports humans, humanoids, and long- and short-muzzled animals with no manual landmarks, user-provided templates, or per-asset setup. OmniFaceRig combines a hybrid vision-language and computer vision riggability checker, a four-model face segmentation ensemble, keypoint-driven template registration, procedural inner-mouth construction, and collision-aware blendshape transfer. For non-human characters, it selects topology-specific templates with a nose-landmark-free design and uses as-rigid-as-possible deformation with signed-distance-field constraints to reduce teeth-face intersections. We also introduce Omni-Bench, an open-source benchmark of more than 1,000 biped 3D characters rigged with FACS blendshapes and inner-mouth geometry, spanning humans, humanoids, cats, dogs, and other animals. Experiments show high rigging success, nearly complete face detection recall, low inner-mouth penetration, and 20-30 s end-to-end latency per asset on a single A100 GPU.

ReviewMap: Mapping Evaluative Acts and Automation Boundaries in Peer-Review Comments

Kihyun Na, Injung Kim

原文摘要

Peer-review comments check what a paper does and judge why it matters, but no existing scheme distinguishes these two evaluative acts. We argue that making these acts explicit and measuring how reliably LLMs identify them is a prerequisite for responsible LLM-assisted review analysis: humans need to inspect review judgments and their grounds. This defines a more honest mission for NLP in peer review than full automation. We present ReviewMap, a framework that classifies each comment as assessment of claims and scholarly standards or calibration of contribution value and venue fit, with finer-grained attributes applied conditionally by act type. Applied to 500 ICLR~2026 papers through multi-model LLM consensus, the act layer proves reliably automatable under the operational guideline (inter-model $κ\geq 0.75$), supported by five-human validation on 470 development comments, while the attribute layer requires human oversight, defining a measured automation boundary. At the corpus level, 17% of reviewer-paper instances contain no panel-coded calibration, and the panel-coded calibration share is nearly $3\times$ as high in Strengths as in Weaknesses. This boundary informs three affordances: a review guideline that operationalizes the assessment-then-calibration workflow for reviewers, a per-comment rebuttal strategy scaffold for authors, and a discussion-phase dashboard for area chairs.

原文摘要

Predicting reaction impurities is a critical yet persistently data-limited challenge in pharmaceutical process chemistry. While machine learning models for reaction outcome prediction have advanced rapidly, benchmarking their ability to predict impurities remains impractical due to the absence of curated, publicly accessible datasets. We present OPRD-Imp, a dataset of 229 organic reactions drawn from 62 publications in Organic Process Research & Development, each annotated with experimentally observed impurities and their mechanistic origins. A total of 784 impurity entries is provided, classified into four origin categories. Reactions are represented as reaction SMILES and impurities as individual SMILES strings, with multi-step synthetic route connectivity preserved. All data were manually extracted from the source publications by trained chemists following a standardized extraction protocol, with expert chemical validation and manual structure drawing. OPRD-Imp is intended to serve as a benchmark resource for evaluating models that predict reaction impurities, providing experimentally reported impurity annotations and mechanistic origin labels that are not systematically represented in conventional reaction datasets.

When Does Blockwise Additivity Break? Diagnosing and Repairing the Additive Assumption in Distillation-Based Architecture Search

Yuefeng Xu, Jun Yu

原文摘要

Blockwise distillation methods for architecture search, such as DNA, DONNA, LANA and Puzzle, score each candidate replacement block in isolation and assemble a child network by minimizing the sum of per-block scores. We test this additive assumption on DeiT-S and DeiT-B with seven replacement blocks per layer, seven block-latency budgets from 70% to 40%, three fine-tuning seeds and paired bootstrap confidence intervals. (i) At mild compression the additive integer linear program (ILP) is close to a pairwise integer quadratic program (IQP) that models block interactions, but the post-fine-tuning gap widens sharply between the 60% and 55% budgets: at 55%-40% the ILP trails the IQP by 3.3-16.6 top-1 points on ImageNet-100. (ii) We split the KL additivity error into a metric component, caused by the non-linearity of the KL in summed logit changes and computable from cached single-block logits, and a functional component, the score-level effect of non-additive logit changes. The metric component accounts for most of the error on DeiT-S (59-65%), the functional component for most of it on DeiT-B (73-76%). (iii) A hybrid search ranks moves with the logit-sum predictor and measures only the best ones. It needs no dedicated pair measurements, costs 13-27% of the IQP's pair stage, and on ImageNet-100 significantly outperforms the IQP in 7 of 14 settings, with no significant difference in 6 and a significant loss in 1. Further reducing the pre-fine-tuning KL, or scoring after a short fine-tune, gives no consistent gain. On full ImageNet-1k with 1000-class fine-tuning, the sharp widening between 60% and 55% (5.8-17.5 points at 55%-40%), the model-dependent decomposition and the hybrid's advantage (significantly better than the IQP in 13 of 14 settings, no the other) are reproduced.

Autonomous Driving Research Requires a Community-Driven Data Paradigm

Jinsu Yoo, Zanming Huang, Katie Z Luo, Zheda Mai, Qiyuan Wu, Bharath Hariharan, Mark Campbell, Wei-Lun Chao

原文摘要

Autonomous driving has made remarkable progress, with recent AI advances enabling commercial deployments that are reshaping urban mobility. Yet the field remains far from its universal social promise: autonomous systems that can operate robustly anywhere, anytime, for anyone. We posit that this gap is not merely a modeling problem, but a problem of the prevailing data paradigm. Current research relies heavily on a few benchmark datasets with limited spatial and scenario coverage, even though the community has collectively produced over 600 autonomous driving datasets across nearly 50 countries. However, this abundance has not translated into broad research impact: most datasets remain significantly underused due to fragmentation, limited visibility, incompatible protocols, and benchmark incentives that concentrate attention on a few dominant datasets. We therefore argue that autonomous driving research requires a collaborative, community-driven data paradigm. Such a paradigm would improve the discovery, reuse, integration, and evaluation of diverse datasets; make underexplored data easier and more rewarding to study; and lower the barrier for new contributors. We outline its key principles, illustrate an early realization, and call for collaboration across academia and industry to transform fragmented datasets into shared community infrastructure for anytime-anywhere autonomy.

MEvince: Knowledge-Constrained LLM Reasoning for Technique Identification from Malware Reports

Hongyu She, Yiling He, Mengda Xie, Yiping Liu, Xingzhi Qian, Zhan Qin, Lorenzo Cavallaro

原文摘要

Mapping behavioral intelligence in malware analysis reports to ATT&CK techniques supports threat analysis and defense, but reliable identification remains challenging. Supporting evidence is often scattered across long, heterogeneous reports, while closely related techniques share behavioral cues and differ only in subtle but decisive details. While large language models (LLMs) can use external knowledge to interpret reports, they may assign techniques based on plausible associations rather than sufficient evidence. We present MEvince, a knowledge-constrained LLM reasoning framework for report-level malware technique identification. Its core is a shared behavioral representation connecting report observations to technique definitions. This representation is built through agentic mining of technique documentation and supports two online stages: 1) primitive-guided extraction uses behavioral primitives to structure LLM-extracted observations, link them to source passages, and group dispersed evidence; 2) evidence-aligned retrieval matches this evidence to technique profiles through the same concepts, retaining likely candidates and confusable alternatives for LLM comparison of distinguishing behaviors. Controls at both stages validate evidence references and check technique-specific requirements. The representation also supports adaptation without parameter updates, where offline agentic audits diagnose concept weaknesses and refine extraction or retrieval policies. We evaluate MEvince against 11 baselines spanning four method families using a dataset of 610 public malware reports referenced by MITRE ATT&CK. MEvince improves exact-ID F1 over the strongest baseline by 17.4%, and its concept-guided retrieval increases gold-label candidate coverage from 31.6% to 47.9%. With a small adaptation set, offline refinement yields further gains and outperforms baselines that update model parameters.

Scaling laws for amplitude surrogates

Henning Bahl, Victor Bresó-Pla, Anja Butter, Joaquín Iturriza Ramirez

原文摘要

Scaling laws describing the dependence of neural network performance on the amount of training data, the spent compute, and the network size have emerged across a huge variety of machine learning task and datasets. In this work, we systematically investigate these scaling laws in the context of amplitude surrogates for particle physics. We show that the scaling coefficients are connected to the number of external particles of the process. Our results demonstrate that scaling laws are a useful tool to achieve desired precision targets.

Signed but Not Safe: Requirement Integrity in Multi-Agent LLM Handoffs

Xiaobo Chen, Genliang Zhu, Ziyuan Wang, Chu Wang

原文摘要

Enterprise AI agents increasingly split a user's request across subagents and merge their results, and each handoff can summarize away, alter or ignore a requirement. We report a preregistered study with synthetic, exactly scorable tasks comparing free-text, structured JSON and signed requirement-manifest handoffs: the orchestrator extracts each requirement as a verbatim quote plus a checkable predicate, code signs the manifest with HMAC-SHA256, and deterministic code verifies the merger's decision. With Qwen3-8B (1,440 trajectories, five threats), signed manifests cut unsafe commits under attack from 69.4% to 9.0% (60.4 pp, 95% CI [51.4, 69.4]) with no net loss of conformant commits relative to structured handoffs. Signing is what defeats in-transit tampering: an unsigned manifest committed violations in 79% of mutated runs, the signed one in none. On identical trajectories the deterministic verifier caught 78.7% of violating decisions versus 59.0% for an LLM checker, with 7% versus 50% false alarms. An oracle manifest removed all remaining unsafe commits: the residual risk comes from extraction errors made before signing. A preregistered pre-signing injection attack confirmed this boundary: one adversarial line raised signed-manifest violations from 14.6% to 37.5% (Qwen3-8B), 11.1% to 63.9% (gpt-oss-20b) and 8.3% to 75.0% (GPT-5.6-luna), and the signature then authenticated the corrupted manifest. Signing protects requirements in transit, not at extraction; the extraction step is the trust boundary.

SAVeR$^2$: Reasoning-based Safety Alignment for Large Reasoning Models via Verifiable Rewards

Yichen Sun, Qirui Liu, Yan Wang, Jianan Lin, Linbo Jiang, Shiyu Wang, Zhibo Wang, Zhixuan Chu

原文摘要

Large Reasoning Models (LRMs) have achieved impressive performance via explicit Chain-of-Thought (CoT) reasoning, yet this process introduces critical safety risks. We formalize LRM safety objectives as requiring non-malicious reasoning and answers, safety consistency, and explicit intent identification. We argue that existing alignment methods suffer from poor adversarial generalization, a significant ``safety tax'' on reasoning, and unfaithful coarse-grained rewards, primarily due to their neglect of the LRM's intrinsic reasoning capabilities for safety. To address these, we propose \textbf{SAVeR$^2$}, a novel \textbf{S}afety \textbf{A}lignment method via \textbf{R}ewards with \textbf{R}easoning capability. SAVeR$^2$ decomposes the safety objective into four fine-grained verifiable reward signals and utilizes a difficulty-aware data selection strategy to stabilize training. Crucially, we introduce a reasoning-preserving gradient projection mechanism that analytically resolves conflicts between safety and reasoning gradients, effectively eliminating the safety tax. Extensive experiments on models ranging from 1.5B to 671B demonstrate that SAVeR$^2$ achieves superior safety performance and significantly lower over-refusal rates across multiple benchmarks without compromising general reasoning capabilities.

Beyond Equation Search: Conjecture-Guided Discovery with SCOPE and ClosureBench

原文摘要

Most symbolic regression methods optimize candidate equations, but improving an equation's fit does not establish whether its underlying scientific conjecture should be retained, revised, or rejected. A conjecture may admit multiple mathematical realizations, and similarly accurate equations may imply different explanations. This motivates a shift from refining individual expressions to developing and testing the conjectures that guide them. We introduce SCOPE, a framework that sustains multiple conjecture-driven research trajectories. Multiple scientist agents independently pursue conjectures through equation modeling, question formulation, and active experimentation, then exchange evidence to revise their conjectures and research directions. Their findings are consolidated into a scientific report linking models, conclusions, and evidence. Existing equation-discovery benchmarks primarily assess recovered expressions, leaving the evidence and scientific conclusions established through the investigation underexamined. We therefore introduce ClosureBench, an interactive benchmark of 60 closure-discovery tasks across five scientific domains. ClosureBench focuses on closure-discovery tasks to give equation discovery a concrete scientific purpose. Each task embeds an unknown algebraic relation in a known PDE system, where agents control experimental conditions in OpenFOAM to acquire new data for equation discovery. Beyond equation accuracy, ClosureBench proposes three metrics to evaluate the discovery process: evidence faithfulness, mechanism insight, and experimental effectiveness. Compared with diverse baselines, SCOPE achieves higher equation accuracy on both ClosureBench and a real-world scientific discovery case, while producing more accurate, reliable, and effective scientific discoveries.

CLaRE-ty Amid Chaos: Quantifying Representational Entanglement to Predict Ripple Effects in LLM Editing

Manit Baser, Alperen Yildiz, Dinil Mon Divakaran, Mohan Gurusamy

原文摘要

The static knowledge representations of large language models (LLMs) inevitably become outdated or incorrect over time. While model-editing techniques offer a promising solution by modifying a model's factual associations, they often produce unpredictable ripple effects, which are unintended behavioral changes that propagate even to the hidden space. In this work, we introduce CLaRE, a lightweight representation-level technique to identify where these ripple effects may occur. Unlike prior gradient-based methods, CLaRE quantifies entanglement between facts using forward activations from a single intermediate layer, avoiding costly backward passes. To enable systematic study, we prepare and analyse a corpus of 11,427 facts drawn from three existing datasets. Using CLaRE, we compute large-scale entanglement graphs of this corpus for multiple models, capturing how local edits propagate through representational space. These graphs enable stronger preservation sets for model editing, audit trails, efficient red-teaming, and scalable post-edit evaluation. In comparison to baselines, CLaRE achieves an average of 62.2% improvement in Spearman correlation with ripple effects while being 2.7x faster, and using 2.85x less peak GPU memory. Besides, CLaRE requires only a fraction of the storage needed by the baselines to compute and preserve fact representations. Our entanglement graphs and corpus are available at https://github.com/manitbaser/CLaRE.

Vision-Language Models Are Joint Denoisers in Robotic Action Generation

Xicheng Gong, Wenxuan Song, Chengze Liu, Qiwei Li, Qize Yu, Jiaolong Yang, Haoang Li, Yadong Mu

原文摘要

Diffusion-based vision-language-action (VLA) models cascade pretrained vision-language models (VLMs) with diffusion action experts, but typically restrict the VLM to providing static conditioning. This separation limits how much pretrained perception and reasoning can guide action generation, especially in out-of-distribution settings. We introduce JADE, a Joint Action DEnoiser that enables the VLM and action expert to jointly refine actions. Our key insight is that structured action latents allow the VLM to read the current noisy action together with visual observations and language instructions. At every denoising step, the VLM contextualizes the noisy action and guides the action expert through gated cross-attention, so that its guidance evolves with the action being generated. We further supervise the VLM to recover clean action latents from noisy ones, which gives it a direct action-learning signal and couples perception with control. Additionally, joint denoising enables JADE to generate actions with fewer sampling steps, helping offset the additional cost of VLM participation. An adaptive step-size schedule further balances task performance and inference latency. On RoboDojo, JADE achieves an average success rate of 12.67%, the highest among the evaluated $π_{0.5}$-based methods, and is competitive with recent VLA and WAM foundation models pretrained at scale. It also improves performance on RoboTwin 2.0 and raises the average success rate across four real-world bimanual tasks by 20.8 percentage points compared with $π_{0.5}$.
