Large language models have made rapid progress in agentic reasoning and tool use, raising expectations for agents that can take over realistic productivity work from humans. However, current agents still struggle to finish such tasks, where success requires following long-horizon professional workflows, understanding heterogeneous file contexts, and producing usable deliverables under fine-grained requirements. A key bottleneck is the lack of scalable post-training data that reflects real work intent, authentic file environments, and deliverable-level evaluation. To close this gap, we introduce Agent-R$^2$, a $\textbf{r}$eal-source data synthesis framework that scales training data for $\textbf{r}$ealistic productivity work. Instead of relying on manually specified workflows or LLM-generated files, Agent-R$^2$ grounds synthesis throughout the pipeline in real occupational seeds, corpus-derived workflow evidence, and authentic web-sourced files. From 10k web-corpus candidates, Agent-R$^2$ distills 4k task instances that pair real multi-format attachments with fine-grained, deliverable-level rubrics. On this data, we train Agent-R$^2$-4B via supervised fine-tuning and rubric-based reinforcement learning, improving both end-to-end productivity performance and file-grounded reasoning. Trained on only 4k instances, Agent-R$^2$-4B surpasses Qwen3-235B-A22B-Thinking-2507 on both GDPval (51.0$\%$ vs. 48.0$\%$) and OfficeQA (14.8$\%$ vs. 13.8$\%$). Further analysis shows that Agent-R$^2$ mitigates shortcut behavior, where agents produce superficially plausible deliverables before sufficiently grounding, constructing, or verifying them, while promoting sustained exploration.

The Promise of Strategic Agentic Scambaiting

原文摘要

Scammers have increasingly adopted AI-driven capabilities, evolving from automated message generation to fully agentic conversational systems that scale operations and maximize the exploitation of fraudulent resources before detection and takedown. In parallel, agentic scambaiting has emerged as a defensive approach in which autonomous agents impersonate potential victims and engage scammers in sustained interactions to extract actionable threat intelligence, such as mule bank accounts and cryptocurrency wallet addresses, that can be reported to disrupt fraudulent infrastructures. Together, these developments transform online fraud into an adversarial socio-technical ecosystem in which autonomous scamming and scambaiting agents engage in deceptive interactions while competing over the discovery, preservation, and exploitation of one another's resources. A fundamental and largely unexplored question is how defensive scambaiting can remain effective in an agent-to-agent environment, and under what conditions either side gains a strategic advantage. In this paper, we present a formal model of agent-to-agent fraud interactions that captures the strategic decision spaces available to both attackers and defenders. Using this framework, we analyze the dynamics of engagement, resource consumption, belief adaptation, and disruption outcomes. We find that scammer profitability turns negative once baiting-agent prevalence exceeds certain thresholds, and that when both sides improve at the same pace, defender investment in mimicry quality outpaces equivalent gains in scammer detection capability, so the arms race favors the defender under our baseline parameters. Our model and findings provide insights into the stability, scalability, and long-term effectiveness of autonomous defensive agents in an evolving AI-mediated fraud landscape.

RT-DETR-World: Transferring Rich LLM Semantics to Real-Time Open-Vocabulary Detection

Yupeng Zhang, Ziyi Zhao, Juntao Cheng, Sheng Wang, Ningnan Guo, Ruize Han, Liang Wan

原文摘要

Open-vocabulary detection (OVD) recognizes categories unseen during training through textual category queries, yet achieving strong generalization with real-time efficiency remains challenging. Beyond vocabulary scaling, zero-shot generalization may benefit from reusable visual--semantic cues learned from seen data, including attributes, actions, states, and contextual relations. Existing real-time OVD methods primarily emphasize vocabulary coverage and efficient region/query--text matching; under strict efficiency constraints, compact detectors may struggle to absorb rich instance semantics and scene context. We propose RT-DETR-World, a compact DETR-style detector that transfers the rich semantics conveyed by descriptions during training while retaining lightweight query--text matching at inference. We construct GroundingCapv2 with three levels of supervision: category names for standard OVD, object descriptions conveying instance-level semantics, and image descriptions conveying object relations and scene context. These descriptions serve only as training-time semantic supervision. To help the compact detector absorb these semantics, we propose Dual-Path Description Alignment (DDA), combining a deployment-consistent MiniLM pathway with a training-only LLM teacher. MiniLM provides query--category supervision and object-description alignment, while offline teacher features supervise matched queries and global visual representations at the object and image levels, respectively. All teacher features are precomputed, and the teacher-side modules are removed after training. We further propose Relation-Aware Negative Relaxation (RNR), which uses teacher-derived semantic similarities to relax related negatives while preserving exact positives. Experiments demonstrate competitive zero-shot accuracy and a favorable accuracy--efficiency trade-off. The code will be released.

Compositional Loop Invariant Inference for Multiphase Programs via Structured Neurosymbolic Reasoning

Mingxiu Wang, Jiawei Wang, Shuangxiang Kan, Angela Huo, Yuekang Li, Xi Zheng, Xiao Cheng

原文摘要

Loop invariants are essential for deductive program verification, yet automatically inferring them for {multiphase programs}, whose loops contain conditional branches that induce multiple execution phases with distinct behaviors, remains an open problem. Existing LLM-based methods either reason about loops as a whole or use explicit branch information to generate atomic assertions jointly across branches, without maintaining complete candidate sub-invariants for independent generation and targeted repair. We present CLOVER, a structured neurosymbolic reasoning framework for multiphase invariant inference built on two interlinked mechanisms. First, compositional inference: CLOVER statically decomposes a loop into symbolic {loop branch sequences}, conjunctions of the loop guard and branch conditions that characterize distinct execution scenarios, and guides the LLM to generate candidate sub-invariants for each one independently, so that each LLM query focuses on a single execution scenario rather than the entire loop. Second, counterexample-guided localized refinement: when SMT verification rejects a composed disjunctive invariant, CLOVER traces the counterexample back through the branch structure to identify which specific loop branch sequence caused the failure and repairs only that sub-invariant, preserving all correct components. Both mechanisms are unified by a shared symbolic structure derived from the loop's branch semantics, which guides what the LLM generates, how candidates are composed, and where refinement is directed. We evaluate CLOVER on 316 linear arithmetic, 50 nonlinear arithmetic, and 54 multiphase benchmarks. CLOVER solves 35 of 54 multiphase benchmarks, outperforming the best LLM-based baseline (29) by 20.7\% and the best traditional method (22) by 59.1\%. On linear/nonlinear benchmarks, CLOVER remains competitive, solving 355 of 366 programs overall.

Foresee to Trade: Forecast-Augmented Policy Optimization for Portfolio Management

原文摘要

Online investment services must translate asset opportunities into investment outcomes for users' accounts, yet the same market opportunity can warrant different account actions. We study how supervision from future asset opportunities can strengthen account-level trading decisions and propose Forecast-Augmented Relative Policy Optimization (FRPO). FRPO separately supervises asset opportunities and account decisions through a jointly learned representation: a Financial State Head (FSH) learns future relative-return targets to provide asset-level opportunity supervision, while Same-Path Group-Relative Optimization compares trading trajectories under the same market path and initial account to provide account-level relative-outcome supervision. An Adaptive Gate coordinates auxiliary supervision using predictive variance and gradient alignment. FSH is used only during training; inference uses the encoder and policy for trading. Across DJIA30, TOPIX Core30, and three investment-style portfolios, ten-seed evaluations show that FRPO achieves the highest mean cumulative and annualized returns among the compared methods in all five settings. These results support strengthening investment agents' trading decisions through joint supervision from asset opportunities and trading outcomes.

Reinforcing What the Student Has Learned: Teacher-Guided On-Policy Distillation

Bozhen Fang, Linhao Zhong, Xuehao Wang, Huanyi Zheng, Hao Chen, Chunhua Shen

原文摘要

On-policy distillation (OPD) improves language-model reasoning through dense teacher feedback on student-generated responses. We first observe an amplitude disparity in this feedback: on math reasoning responses, style-related positions exhibit 3.5 times the mean absolute teacher--student log-probability difference of mathematical positions.Scaling OPD updates by these discrepancies thus directs much of the update strength toward matching the teacher's expression. We instead take the student's own pretrained base as a reference: the student--base difference records the token preferences acquired during post-training and provides supervision that does not depend on the student's distance from the teacher. Building on this reference, we propose Student-Delta On-Policy Distillation (SD-OPD), which uses centered student--base differences as update coefficients, keeps each coefficient only when its sign agrees with centered teacher--student feedback, and recomputes the student signal every training round. Across 5 teacher--student configurations with Qwen3 students of 1.7B to 8B parameters, SD-OPD improves six-task mathematics average pass@1 (avg@16) over OPD by 7.76 to 10.37 percentage points. scTREAT: Latent Diffusion for Single-Cell Drug-Response Prediction

Zhaokang Liang, Shuyang Zhuang, Xiaoran Jiao, Weian Mao, Hao Chen, Chunhua Shen

原文摘要

Generating drug-induced transcriptional responses requires a model to account for cellular background together with molecular identity and dose. We present scTREAT, the first diffusion framework to factorize state and drug guidance for single-cell drug-response prediction. A shared latent expression space connects baseline and response, while Guided Decomposable Attention (GD-Attn) injects a baseline representation and a dose-conditioned molecular embedding. Independent channel dropout exposes four conditioning states during training; inference combines three conditional predictions with separately specified state and drug coefficients, and dose modulates drug-guidance strength. On condition-level pseudobulk profiles derived from the Tahoe-100M single-cell atlas, scTREAT achieves the best value on 10 of 12 metrics for unseen cell line-drug combinations (UC) and 11 of 12 for unseen drugs (UD). Ablations examine condition injection, molecular representation, and guidance design. On UD, the relative gains over the second-best model reach 36.11% and 34.21% for DEG logFC-Spearman and logFC-Pearson. These results demonstrate the effectiveness of combining shared latent expression modeling with explicit state and drug conditioning for response prediction.

The Token Before the Value Is the Key

原文摘要

Induction circuits retrieve a value by matching a query to information carried from the token before that value. How this address forms, incorporates context, and supports sequential retrieval remains less clear. We use hybrid language models as a tractable testbed and identify the historical source key as a common causal interface between local preparation and global retrieval. Probes and restoration interventions connect this interface across controlled models, pretrained recurrent and sliding-window hybrids, and released language models. We organize the analysis by address context radius and sequential retrieval depth. First, shared local parameters couple predecessor Carrying to recurrent state processing; separating these demands or biasing initialization promotes address formation. Second, adapting input representations extends an established literal circuit to category matching, making semantically compatible records active competitors. Earlier context resolves this competition through the source key, with a sharp visibility boundary in a controlled single-read model and compositional relays across local layers. Third, fixed relations support memorization shortcuts, whereas sequential generalization requires learning an output-to-query bridge between retrievals. Controlled state-tracking and compositional in-context tasks demonstrate this requirement across stacked stages, looped recurrence, and intermediate-token generation. Together, these results connect circuit formation, contextual disambiguation, and sequential use through a shared retrieval interface. RPL-UIE: Reference-Guided Prior Learning for Content-Preserving Underwater Image Enhancement

Yifan Chen, Jijun Lu, Ye Zheng, Kaichen Chi, Zhe Sun, Tao Chen

原文摘要

Underwater image enhancement (UIE) aims to recover clear images from observations degraded by wavelength-dependent absorption, scattering, and spatially nonuniform degradation. Although existing generative methods can handle complex degradations, they may still generate visually appealing results while compromising content preservation, thereby degrading downstream visual perception. To improve content preservation, we extract spatial priors characterizing appearance and photometric properties from ground-truth images to provide stable guidance for enhancement. To bridge the gap between training with ground-truth references and inference without references, we propose reference-guided prior learning for underwater image enhancement (RPL-UIE), a two-stage teacher-student framework. The teacher network extracts stable priors from ground-truth images, while the student network takes only degraded images as input and learns to mimic the teacher's prior extraction capability. We further design Residual Prior Refinement Diffusion (RPRD) and Frequency-Aware Prior Residual Calibration (FPRC) to reduce the prior discrepancy between the teacher and student. RPRD progressively predicts corrections in the residual space, while FPRC preserves stable low-frequency residuals and selectively modulates high-frequency details. Experiments on multiple underwater image datasets show that RPL-UIE achieves competitive enhancement performance. For the engineering application of underwater visual perception, downstream object detection and instance segmentation experiments show that RPL-UIE improves visual quality while better preserving object structures and semantic content needed for reliable perception. Tests on real-world data collected by a custom-built remotely operated vehicle (ROV) further demonstrate its effectiveness and practical applicability.

原文摘要

Vision-Language-Action (VLA) models exhibit remarkable action generation for embodied intelligence, but their heavy compute make deployment on edge platforms impractical. Aggressive, sub-4-bit weight quantization is the natural solution, yet existing post-training quantization (PTQ) methods suffer severe performance degradation in this regime. To address this, we introduce ActQuant, an action-guided mixed-precision PTQ framework that operates in two stages: (1) an inter-tensor bit allocator that assigns each weight matrix a single bit-width based on how much it contributes to predicting the agent's actions; (2) an intra-tensor scale optimizer tunes per-block quantization scales using action-aware curvature, so that dynamic range is concentrated on the weights most influential for control. To deliver the on-device benefits of our aggressive quantization, we further introduce OmniModel.cpp, an agentic conversion pipeline that ports architectures into a native C/C++ runtime with efficient low-bit kernels. We evaluate ActQuant both in simulation and on a real-world 6-DoF UR3 arm, with all models deployed through OmniModel.cpp. On the LIBERO benchmark, ActQuant is the only method that operates at or below 3 bits-per-weight, retaining 95.0% on OpenVLA-OFT and 94.8% on $π_{0.5}$. Pushed further, ActQuant reaches 2.5 bpw at 90.1% on OpenVLA-OFT, compressing the backbone from 14.3 GB to 2.7 GB (5.3$\times$). On the physical UR3 arm, $π_{0.5}$ quantized with ActQuant retains the baseline's success rate while reducing the memory footprint by 2.5$\times$.

EvoWorld: Towards Out-of-Sight World Evolution in Generative Video Models

Yequan Bie, Dengyang Jiang, Zhixuan Chen, Xiaozhuan Liang, Haoxuan Che, Quande Liu, Xi Chen, Hao Chen

原文摘要

Generative video models are increasingly used as visual world simulators, yet their primary strength lies in rendering plausible pixels rather than reasoning about how a world should evolve. Coherent world evolution requires more than visual fidelity: when an event occurs, a model must infer its consequences for the entities in the world and then render the resulting state. For example, after a wild beast appears, the model should not only depict the wild beast, but also infer whether a nearby person should flee, take cover, or fight back based on the realized scene. Existing diffusion-based video models lack an explicit mechanism for maintaining world state and reasoning over such event-conditioned consequences, often producing visually plausible but behaviorally static or causally inconsistent outputs. To make this reasoning gap concrete and measurable, we propose a new problem, Out-of-Sight Causal Evolution, which requires a model to render an event, reason about its consequences for the evolving world state, and reveal a causally plausible outcome as the world continues to evolve, even out of sight. As a baseline reference solution, we introduce EvoWorld, a brain-renderer collaboration framework in which a vision-language model serves as the world brain: it observes generated segments, maintains an evolving account of the world, and reasons about plausible state transitions, while a segment-autoregressive video renderer realizes them visually. We further introduce EvoWorld-Data and EvoWorld-Bench for training and evaluating event realization, causal reactions, and revisit consistency. Experiments show that EvoWorld substantially improves event-conditioned causal evolution over recent models while preserving visual quality and consistency, establishing a reference point for reasoning-guided, autonomous world evolution beyond the current field of view.

ProCraft: Instruction-Driven Music Production from Free-Form Text

Yuan-Chiao Cheng, Yi-Hsuan Yang, Vincent K. M. Cheung

原文摘要

Music production typically involves multiple editing operations that each require specialized tools and expertise. Existing text-guided music editing systems support few operations or instruments, operate on short clips, or handle only one operation per instruction, unlike real workflows where several changes are requested at once. Here, we present ProCraft, a lightweight 0.5B-parameter autoregressive codec language model that edits 30s music excerpts end-to-end from free-form instructions, including compound requests. ProCraft supports seven operations across eight instruments, from tasks with a unique target (e.g., track removal) to creative ones (e.g., accompaniment generation). We align intermediate representations with pretrained music embeddings and pitch and instrument targets to preserve content outside the edit, and gated cross-attention in every decoder layer to keep generation tied to the instruction. To train on compound requests, we introduce On-the-fly Editing-pair Synthesis, which generates paired instructions and audio combining track-level operations with effect changes. ProCraft performs competitively against task-specific systems on single-task editing, and outperforms four free-text editors on compound instructions for track removal, extraction and denoising on real (MoisesDB) and synthetic (Slakh) recordings. In a user study (16 listeners), ProCraft was rated highest on removal and denoising and on-par with a 16-times larger model on extraction and instrument transfer. Ablations further show that representation alignment and cross-attention reduce leakage from unwanted tracks and raise editing success rates, especially on out-of-domain data.

Take It From Here: Evaluating Coding Agents On Project Takeover

Dingxian Wang, Zhe Fu, Jiaqi Deng, Chao Yin, Ganesh Prabhu, Karthik Gomadam Rajagopal, Darwin Yi, Huan Huo 等 12 位作者

原文摘要

Coding agents increasingly collaborate on long-term projects. When taking over a project, they need to recover currently applicable requirements from the interaction history and update them in response to new requests. However, most coding benchmarks do not include long interaction histories, and some evaluations that consider history still do not cover the full process from requirement reconstruction to project delivery. We therefore provide agents with the interaction history, current request, and pre-request project environment, ask them to make the requested changes, and assess takeover performance through delivery tests. Across six model-harness configurations and 37 targets eligible for executable validation, the mean complete-delivery rate under Full History is only 4.95%. We then use requirement atoms to independently diagnose a larger set of takeover targets, examining relevant information identification, pre-request state reconstruction, and current request processing. We further supply correct pre-request or target states to examine the remaining difficulties in requirement processing and project modification. The diagnostics show that none of the six configurations produces fully correct post-request requirement states, and a case illustrates omission of previously recovered constraints during updating. With correct target states supplied, the mean complete-delivery rate is 8.11%, with build and regression pass rates of 96.40% and 90.99%, but target-test success remains 9.01%. These results show difficulties in both forming target requirement states and implementing supplied targets in existing projects. Based on these findings, we introduce ReqMemBench, which combines requirement diagnostics with delivery validation to support systematic evaluation of project takeover.

What should data teach a language model at a particular point in training? A circuit view reveals three distinct bottlenecks: forming a computation, making its required content available, and selecting among available routes. A shared diagnosis-to-data principle connects them: localize the missing operation, preserve its causal relation, vary shortcut-bearing context, and re-audit the residual. Formation-sensitive selection and prerequisite ordering accelerate a binding-matching-transport path; a brief early prefix from the same training multiset retains a validation advantage through 100B tokens. Availability counterfactuals then distinguish writing content from invoking available memory, while paired supervision and context-opportunity ranking improve matched route decisions and long-context answer likelihood. A continuous 350M-model experiment connects the three interventions on the same facts: early circuit training improves subsequent learning, and the complete sequence outperforms stage-replacement controls on facts withheld from Use teaching. Independent query surfaces and opposed-source decisions expose conditional arbitration as the remaining frontier. Together, these results show why a change in the limiting operation calls for a change in supervision, not merely a new ranking of difficult examples.

META-Robot: Self-Cognition and Capability Scaling in Agentic Robots

原文摘要

LLM-based robotic agent systems can generate programs for robot control, yet their generalization to new tasks often depends on elaborate scaffolding. Expanding their skill repertoires alone offers limited guidance on how to assess new capabilities or identify what remains beyond their reach. We introduce META-Robot, a framework that couples self cognition with capability scaling by expanding the criteria through which an agent evaluates and develops its skills. At its core, action-level predicates make execution outcomes explicit and available for LLM reasoning. The agent uses these assessments to identify its own limitations, extend relevant evaluation criteria, and guide the structured expansion of its skills. Proprioceptive feedback further grounds this process in the robot's physical state, enriching the evidence available for self-cognition. Experiments in simulation and on real robots demonstrate stronger overall task performance, generalization to new tasks, continued expansion of skills and evaluation criteria, and effective use of non-visual proprioceptive signals.

FPTR: Feasibility-Preserving Transactional Refinement for Deadline-Constrained Joint Beam and Resource Allocation

Minghao Kong, Zirong Liu, Jianhao Wu, Muyao Chen, Jianxin Wu, Rongjie Wang

原文摘要

Short-interval wireless schedulers must return a complete, feasible beam-and-resource allocation before each execution deadline, and a late or invalid output gives no utility in the current control cycle. Searching longer can increase transmitted traffic, but it may also miss the deadline or leave only an infeasible intermediate solution. We propose Feasibility-Preserving Transactional Refinement (FPTR), which always keeps a validated feasible allocation, the incumbent. Each refinement stage builds a separate candidate and leaves the incumbent unchanged. A candidate replaces the incumbent only if it is complete, passes the feasibility validator before its stage cutoff, and strictly improves the objective; otherwise it is discarded. Four refinement stages use this rule: buffer-aware resource selection, compatibility-group (CG) user sharing, beam-mask rebuilding from remaining demand, and joint reassignment of two resources. On 150 fixed synthetic instances, the full pipeline (Full) raises traffic by 3.83% on average over a lightweight beam-first reference and by 1.79% over its Base constructor. In a separate suite with matched inputs, Full exceeds six independent search baselines (ALNS, tabu search, GA, simulated annealing, iterated local search, and GRASP) by 6.68-8.35%, where outputs later than 100 ms receive zero utility. All 750 Full runs in the internal suite returned feasible allocations, and none exceeded 100 ms. Separating mandatory output construction from optional refinement lets spare computation time improve the allocation without endangering the incumbent. The open-source implementation supports independent reproduction.

A 3D foundation model unifying CT interpretation and segmentation

原文摘要

Radiologists interpret computed tomography (CT) scans by jointly determining what a finding represents and where it lies in three-dimensional (3D) anatomy. However, CT models have treated CT interpretation and 3D segmentation as separate tasks, leaving textual findings spatially unverifiable and overlooking potential synergy between clinical understanding and spatial perception. Here we present HoloCT, a generalist 3D foundation model unifying CT interpretation and voxel-level segmentation by jointly modelling whole-volume context and fine-grained anatomical detail, providing 3D masks as evidence. We curated HoloDATA, comprising 195,921 CT scans from 73 public datasets and six clinical cohorts, with 6.2 million instruction dialogues and 2.8 million CT-mask pairs. Across 346 tasks spanning segmentation, lesion screening, visual question answering, and report generation on 61 internal and 12 external datasets, HoloCT outperformed specialist and foundation models. In multicentre validation across 11,455 clinical CT scans from five hospitals, HoloCT outperformed competing models in lesion segmentation and report generation by 18.2 and 15.3 points. It also achieved 85.1% mean accuracy in screening thyroid tumours and colon lesions, exceeding all four participating radiologists in a retrospective reader study. Further analyses revealed bidirectional semantic-spatial synergy: language-guided segmentation delineated unseen anatomical structures and lesions as well as diffuse free-text findings, outperforming the leading approach by 22.1 points, whereas prompting the model to generate corresponding 3D masks alongside its textual outputs significantly improved interpretation performance. HoloCT shows that clinical understanding and spatial perception can be learned together within a single foundation model and offers a path towards more accurate and reliable CT analysis.

Can Astra Solve RoboMME without Breaking the Bank?

Bingao Chen, Haoquan Fang, C. Karen Liu

原文摘要

Robotic manipulation often requires remembering information that is no longer visible, such as an object's location before occlusion or the order of a demonstrated action sequence. A large vision-language planner can read this history, but calling it before every action chunk is slow and costly. We present a three-tier system for the RoboMME benchmark. GPT-6 Astra (System 2) selects a grounded subtask from stored visual history, a $π_{0.5}$ vision-language-action policy (System 1) executes it, and a fine-tuned Qwen3-VL-4B monitor (System 1.5) checks after each action chunk whether the subtask is finished. The instruction is kept until the monitor reports completion or a task-specific event occurs, while the policy keeps acting on new observations. On RoboMME, the system succeeds in 79.13% of episodes with an average of 3.63 Astra calls and 80.84 seconds per episode. This is 34.62 points above the best published non-oracle baseline and 4.95 points below GroundSG+Oracle, which gives the low-level policy ground-truth subgoals.

FrameScout: Scouting Query-Relevant Frames for Long Video Understanding

Haonan Hu, Shuhao Chen, Weisen Jiang, Lizhao Gao, James Kwok, Yu Zhang

原文摘要

Long video understanding requires VideoLLMs to answer queries about videos spanning tens of minutes to hours, but such long videos produce far more visual tokens than current VideoLLMs can process. To address this issue, keyframe selectors are proposed to select the most query-relevant frames by computing the similarity between frame and query embeddings. Existing selectors either encode frames independently without temporal context or process chunks in isolation with ranking objectives that are difficult to optimize. To alleviate those limitations, we propose FrameScout with two core designs: (i) a streaming selector architecture that leverages a sliding-window KV cache and successor aggregation to produce temporally-contextualized frame embeddings; (ii) a frame-query contrastive objective that aligns frame and query embeddings in a shared space, directly training the selector to distinguish relevant frames from irrelevant ones. Extensive experiments on three long-video benchmarks and six base VideoLLMs demonstrate that FrameScout consistently achieves state-of-the-art performance. Stabilizing Off-policy LLM Optimization with Prefix Importance Ratio

Shiye Lei, Zhihao Cheng, Dacheng Tao

原文摘要

Reinforcement learning (RL) post-training has increasingly demonstrated strong ability to elicit reasoning behaviors in large language models (LLMs). For training efficiency, rollouts are typically generated in an off-policy manner using an older sampling policy and then used to update the current target policy. To correct the resulting discrepancy between the sampling and target policies, most existing RL objectives rely on a token-level importance sampling ratio. However, we observe unstable training dynamics in existing importance-weighted objectives under large policy lag. In this paper, we revisit LLM policy optimization under off-policy conditions and show that the exact correction for the prefix-marginal policy gradient is the cumulative prefix importance ratio. Token-level weighting does not explicitly correct for this prefix distribution shift. To stabilize LLM optimization under large off-policy drift, we propose a simple yet effective objective, Minimum Prefix Ratio (MinPRO). MinPRO replaces the unstable cumulative prefix ratio with a biased, non-cumulative surrogate based on the minimum token-level ratio observed in the preceding prefix. Extensive experiments on both dense and mixture-of-experts LLMs, across multiple mathematical reasoning benchmarks, demonstrate that MinPRO substantially improves training stability and peak performance in off-policy regimes.

Confucius4-R2T2: A Stable-Prefix Streaming ASR Model for Real Real-Time Transcription

原文摘要

Streaming speech recognition is increasingly consumed by machines, such as translators and voice agents, that act on each token as it appears. A token that is later revised costs wasted work or a wrong action. In this work, we present Confucius4-R2T2 (short for Real Real-Time Transcription), a stable-prefix streaming ASR model that never modifies its earlier output while maintaining high accuracy and low latency. R2T2 is obtained by post-training Qwen3-ASR-1.7B on 1,500 hours of Chinese and English audio while freezing its pre-trained audio encoder and projector. The adaptation is based on the concept of Longest Stable Prefix (LSP), a new notion that we introduce in this work. We prove that LSP is monotone under the prefix order, consistent with the full-audio output, and maximal among labels that equal a whole earlier output. Learning from LSP labels converts a full-context model into a stable-prefix streaming one without any architectural change. Extensive evaluations show that R2T2 brings streaming recognition close to the base model's full-context quality while delivering stable text with low emission lag. Its gains extend beyond the post-training languages, demonstrating a practical path from full-context ASR to stable streaming. We open-source the model weights and code at https://huggingface.co/netease-youdao/Confucius4-R2T2 and https://github.com/netease-youdao/Confucius4-R2T2.

SpikCTU: A Compact Spiking Network with Adaptive Recurrent Computation for Speech Command Recognition

Jin Li, Wenbin Jiang, Tao Chen, Fei Wen

原文摘要

Spiking Neural Networks offer event-driven, energy-efficient computation for speech command recognition, yet most existing methods follow fixed computation paths, allocating redundant computation to easy samples while providing limited insight into how evidence evolves during inference. To address these challenges, we introduce SpikCTU, a compact spiking network with adaptive recurrent computation for speech command recognition. Specifically, a hybrid spiking embedding module preserves continuous input information alongside spike features to construct a fixed temporal memory. A shared Continuous Thinking Unit (CTU) repeatedly reads this memory using keys derived from spikes and continuous values, and updates a binary recurrent state with lightweight stage adapters. Furthermore, combining a fixed base prediction with accumulated corrections at each step enables learned aggregation over all steps or confidence-based early exit using only the predictions available so far. Experiments on three speech command recognition benchmarks show that SpikCTU achieves competitive accuracy with only 0.16--0.17M parameters, and the early exit strategy can substantially further reduce computational cost without compromising accuracy. In addition, trajectory and attention analyses reveal that recurrent steps enable error correction and progressively refine predictions. Code is available at https://github.com/Rivflyyy/spikctu.

CellCanon: An Agentic Cellular World Model for Prediction, Explanation, and Observation-Driven Updating

Zhaokang Liang, Shuyang Zhuang, Xiaoran Jiao, Hao Chen

原文摘要

Biological discovery requires using molecular knowledge and new measurements to infer responses beyond the conditions already observed. We introduce CellCanon, the first agentic cellular world model to unify single-cell expression prediction, evidence-grounded explanation, and observation-driven updating. Its predictive core reuses condition-level biological evidence across gene-specific numerical readouts to guide single-cell expression generation. A shared world state links predictions, acquired measurements, and source-linked claims, supporting explanation and revision. On 339 held-out SciPlex3 conditions across three cell lines, CellCanon improves differential-expression AUPRC and Macro-F1 over the best baseline for each metric by 63.3% and 17.3%, respectively, and direction Macro-F1 by 7.2%. Relative to gene-wise reasoning on matched drug-cell cohorts, measured language-model token use falls by 99.77% for Predict and 98.41% for Explain. On the source-grounded benchmark, Explain correctly answers all answerable questions with supporting proofs and identifies all insufficient-evidence cases. In simulated experimental feedback, Update uses one measured source context per drug to exceed the best fine-tuned baselines in differential-expression AUPRC and Macro-F1 without changing model weights. Together, these capabilities support a cumulative account of cellular responses, with predictions and biological judgments that can be revised as evidence accumulates.

Matching the Training-Time Weight Rule in Inference-Time Expert Deactivation

Hao Cheng, Zhiyu Yang, Bo Ma, Hanzhang Jia

原文摘要

Expert deactivation at inference time changes both token routing and expert weights, and its effect on performance depends on how these changes are implemented. We compare removal, freezing, remaining-expert renormalization, and unnormalized re-routing on identical disabled sets across five instruction-tuned checkpoints from four model families, with a base OLMoE checkpoint as an additional comparison. We develop a weight-sum model that relates the loss of expert contributions and changes in branch scale to the weight rule used during training. With half of the experts deactivated according to activation-based rankings, remaining-expert renormalization yields the highest perplexity in models trained with raw router probabilities, whereas unnormalized re-routing yields the highest perplexity in models trained with normalized weights. Perplexity ranges from 1.4 to 73 times the intact baseline when the training rule is retained, and from 14 to 28,740 times the baseline under a rule mismatch. Task outcomes vary across evaluation types: on OLMoE, GSM8K strict-match accuracy falls to zero under all four implementations. Extending the model to changes in the number of active experts yields a further prediction, supported by the OLMoE experiments: the perplexity penalty from additional renormalization increases as fewer experts are activated.

PAYWORTHY: Can LLMs Predict Which Freelance Jobs an AI Agent Will Complete?

Mohammad Reza Rezaei, Dingxian Wang, Brett Levert, Celeste Fejzo, Andrew Rabinovich, Zhao Chen

原文摘要

Before an AI agent takes on a paid job, someone has to judge whether it is likely to succeed. We test whether frontier language models can make this call before any attempt. We propose PAYWORTHY which contains 1{,}494 real freelance job postings, sampled from 18.8M postings made between 2020 and 2026 on a freelancing platform. An agent attempts each job from the posting alone in a single run, and an LLM judge acting as the client decides whether to accept the work. We ask 18 models to forecast how likely the agent is to succeed and measure how well each model's forecasts rank the accepted jobs above the rejected ones (AUC, where 0.5 is a random ranking). The answer depends on how the agent is described. Told what the agent cannot do, every model ranks the jobs well (AUC 0.66--0.86). Told instead that it is a generic agent with a browser and code execution, the same models rank the same jobs about as well as a random ordering (0.45--0.56). These results hold under judges from four other model families (Claude, GLM, Kimi and Qwen), and the informed forecasts also rank the verdicts of two human raters. We study context-aware time-series forecasting, in which a single target variable is predicted from its own history and a set of contextual variables, such as weather and calendar information. As the context becomes more diverse, a single model struggles to capture all of its regimes, while ensemble learning and Mixture-of-Experts approaches rely on manual data partitioning or soft routing, which increases the inference cost and hinders interpretability. We propose CATF, a Context-Aware Time-Series Forecasting framework built on a Manager-Worker architecture: a Transformer-based Manager routes each input to a single Worker based on the context, using hard routing during both training and inference. The Workers thus specialize without manual data partitioning, and any single-model forecaster can serve as a Worker. On five context-rich datasets, four horizons, and two normalization schemes, CATF improves over its standalone counterpart in 162 of 200 comparisons, the best CATF-enhanced model outperforms the best standalone baseline in 19 of 20 settings, and it outperforms the zero-shot Time-MoE foundation model in 15 of 20 settings. A case study on bike-sharing data shows that the Manager routes inputs by the calendar and that each Worker specializes in a different weekly pattern.

Teleoperation remains the default way to collect robot demonstrations, but every episode costs robot and operator time, and every new task starts from scratch. We ask whether a coding agent can take over the teleoperator's job. In our DataFarm, the agent receives a data request and one calibration episode of the robot in the target scene and rebuilds the task in simulation: it writes the scene, an expert controller, and a success judge. The simulator supplies exact actions, and a video model conditioned on real images renders each rollout as photographic video, generating all camera views together consistently. The output is real-ready data: synchronized camera views labelled with the robot's actions, on which a policy can be trained directly and deployed on the real robot. Independent judges certify the expert and every rendered episode before admission. On five real-robot tasks, policies trained only on farm data match policies trained on as many teleoperated episodes (93 vs. 84 successes in 100 trials), and under an unseen tablecloth and coloured light they keep 87 successes where the teleoperation-trained policies fall to 46. Adapting a task is fully automatic and costs \$21 of API usage on average, paid once per task, plus \$5 for a render contract; every further episode costs \$0.80 on average for simulation, rendering, and review, with no robot or operator. One hour of three-view data for a task costs \$107 on average, these costs included, slightly below a quote of \$117 for teleoperation in China and below \$290 in labour alone in North America.

Vision-language-action (VLA) models increasingly pair a pre-trained vision-language model (VLM) with a flow-matching expert that conditions its action predictions on the VLM's key-value representations. Those representations must carry information useful for control, yet the VLM was never trained for the action expert's flow-matching objective. Two signals can address this: gradients backpropagated from the expert's loss (coupling), or VLM supervision to predict discrete tokens encoding the same target actions. Prominent training recipes forgo the first, blocking expert-to-VLM gradients (insulation) to protect the VLM's existing capabilities, while also supervising it on vision-language data and action tokens. Because vision-language co-training also aims to preserve those capabilities, the additional protection provided by insulation is unclear. At the same time, insulation removes a direct signal about which features continuous action prediction requires. On the other hand, action-token supervision offers an alternative way to learn action-relevant representations, which may explain why insulation succeeds in practice. We disentangle these factors in autonomous driving and manipulation by independently varying action-token supervision and whether the expert's loss updates the VLM. In open-loop driving, insulation is competitive with coupling when action tokens are supervised; without them, coupling reduces trajectory-prediction error by roughly 25%. When both components are trained jointly from the outset, coupling increases closed-loop driving route progress by approximately 17% with action-token supervision and 40% without it, and similarly improves robot manipulation performance under both settings. These findings show that the value of gradient insulation depends on the VLM's action supervision and the evaluation setting, challenging insulation as a default VLA training recipe.

An Agentic Framework for Quality-Aware and Scenario-Adaptive Image Compression

Zhenghao Chen, Lebin Zhou, Zicong Chen, Naifu Xue, Jiahao Li, Bin Li, Dong Xu, Yan Lu

原文摘要

Despite decades of progress, image codecs remain difficult to adapt to diverse real-world compression scenarios for two main reasons. First, most image codecs are optimized for a specific objective and require substantial redevelopment when the compression goal changes. Second, they typically assume clean inputs, whereas sensor-captured images often contain degradations that alter rate-quality behavior. To address these challenges, we propose Practical Image Coding Agents (PICA), a multi-agent framework that adapts existing codecs to diverse user requirements and potentially degraded inputs. PICA consists of four collaborative agents: a Perception agent that interprets user intent and analyzes image content, an Improvement agent that jointly considers bitrate and reconstruction quality to guide pre-coding restoration, a Coding agent that refines quality-control settings from global to regional levels, and an After-coding improvement agent that addresses residual degradations and compression-induced artifacts through restoration guided solely by image quality. To enable codec-agnostic regional adaptation, we introduce Agentic ROI Coding (AROIC), which treats the codec as a black box and allows the agent to automatically schedule, execute, evaluate, and reflect ROI coding plans without architectural modifications or codec-specific retraining. We integrate these four agents with a Scenario-Guided Quality-Rate (SGQR) evaluation strategy to enable more effective scenario-adaptive compression across heterogeneous codecs. Comprehensive experiments on clean, noisy, and blurred images across standard, perceptual, and machine-vision compression scenarios demonstrate that PICA consistently enhances the compression performance of both the conventional H.266/VVC codec and the neural Cheng2020 codec, outperforming competing compression methods on the Kodak, CLIC2020, and HEVC datasets.

Auditing Provenance Sensitivity in LLM Agent Action Selection

原文摘要

LLM agents choose tools and arguments from context that mixes user requests, tool outputs, retrieved records, memory, and untrusted text. Evidence can be relevant without being authorized to determine a decision, so a correct action need not be grounded only in permitted evidence. We introduce a target-specific authorization audit that labels context factors separately for each tool and argument target. Its primary test holds the task, proposition, position, and policy fixed while changing only the proposition's source authority. We then test behavior when valid evidence is weakened and use context-subset interactions as a secondary localization diagnostic. Across 450 controlled next-action tasks and multiple open-weight LLM families, trusted and untrusted variants produce different actions in 5.4 percent of competing cases versus 1.7 percent of supporting cases. Under controlled degradation, unauthorized competition is retained in a full-correct, mixed-error, clean-correct pattern in 2.4 percent of comparisons, with a 95 percent confidence interval from 2.1 to 3.0 percent. These are controlled stress-set rates, not deployment prevalence. The models respond to textual source-authority cues, but this does not prevent untrusted evidence from influencing their actions.
