Wizard:通过智能体控制在实时中操控任意世界

Wizard: Manipulate Any World in Real Time via Agentic Control

Yuzhe Wu, Zijun Lin, Yeying Jin

AI 速览:Wizard 是一个智能体游戏世界模型,通过结构化代理表示和自适应掩码,实现对角色动作的实时精确控制,并零样本泛化到新场景、角色和动作。

Recent advances in video world models have enabled the generation of increasingly realistic and interactive virtual environments, opening new possibilities for player-customizable gameplay. Agentic frameworks further advance this direction by decoupling explicit game logic and controllable world representations from visual generation. However, existing approaches support only simple game settings and predefined motion patterns, generalize poorly to unseen environments and characters, and offer limited real-time interactivity. In this paper, we introduce Wizard, an agentic game world model that enables real-time, precise control over character motions while generalizing zero-shot across novel scenes, characters, and actions. To achieve this, we construct a diverse dataset spanning 750 scenes and 178 characters, incorporating skeleton and geometry information as structured representations. We leverage these representations as intermediate proxies to condition a video generation model, together with an adaptive masking mechanism that improves alignment between the conditioning signals and generated video rollouts. Furthermore, we introduce an agentic framework that explicitly maintains and updates game states, allowing players to freely configure their virtual worlds and exercise fine-grained control over character motions while preserving visual quality and gameplay consistency. By combining agentic control with structured proxy-based generation, our framework unlocks new possibilities for player-driven game creation with real-time, generalizable, and mechanically consistent world simulation.

AI 速览:作者提出一种乐高兼容的气动人工肌肉模块及配套 MuJoCo 仿真器,用于快速搭建和探索可重构肌肉骨骼机器人。

Musculoskeletal robots combine compliant actuators with articulated skeletons, but exploring alternative configurations often requires repeated fabrication. We present MUSBRIC, a modular hardware platform and accompanying MuJoCo-based simulator for reconfigurable musculoskeletal robots. LEGO-compatible endcaps turn fiber-reinforced extensile pneumatic artificial muscles into reusable, plug-and-play muscle bricks that connect directly to standard LEGO components. Experimentally identified actuator behavior supports corresponding musculoskeletal simulations. An elbow-joint prototype validates load-dependent flexion and extension, showing that pulley-guided routing enables reversible motion and a mechanical stop stabilizes the straight posture. A robotic hand demonstrates compliant grasping and multi-joint construction. Matched hardware and simulation sweeps across 15 leg configurations demonstrate systematic exploration of attachment geometry, while a quadruped assembled from four legs demonstrates walking. Together, these demonstrations span mechanism analysis, configuration exploration, and functional robot construction within a single reconfigurable system. The hardware designs and simulation code will be released as open source soon to facilitate reproduction and further development.

AI Cosmos: An Agentic Infra for Situated Learning

AI Cosmos Team, Jinfeng Zhou, Yuxuan Chen, Fangming Chang, Mingyu Su, Yifan Zhu, Yuan Wang, Bo Zhang 等 35 位作者

Large language models (LLMs) can improve task performance during learning, yet these gains do not necessarily reflect learners' ability to thereafter apply the knowledge and skills independently. We present AI Cosmos, an agentic infrastructure for situated learning that organizes learning around two complementary principles: scenario-based participation and cumulative assets of practice. AI Cosmos organizes learners and role-specialized agents within learning scenarios that integrate task-relevant knowledge and, when needed, executable workbenches. An asset-memory loop preserves the processes and outcomes of practice as reusable assets with explicit provenance and dependencies. We evaluate scenario-based interaction through two preregistered randomized controlled studies examining the acquisition of legal reasoning and programming competence, holding the same underlying LLM across conditions. AI Cosmos achieves greater learning gains than a conventional LLM in legal reasoning and higher mastery of unseen programming problems than an LLM-as-Teacher baseline.

Self-Referential $K$-SAT and the Finite Analogue of Gödel's Incompleteness Theorem

Wen Fang, Xianxian Li, Jun Liu, Jie Luo, Yongxin Tong, Ke Xu

We study self-reference and solution independence in Boolean $K$-SAT as a finite analogue of Gödel incompleteness. Independence is defined through factorial moments of the solution count. Constant-width random formulas fail this criterion due to correlations among overlapping assignments. At a covering threshold, logarithmic-width random CNFs have a Poisson solution count, with positive probabilities of unsatisfiability and unique satisfiability. Replacing a redundant clause by one falsified by the unique solution yields an unsatisfiable companion preserving the unsigned incidence graph. For every permitted local view of a good uniquely satisfiable formula, an unsatisfiable companion preserves that view. Irreducibility defeats deterministic and bounded-error evaluators using $N^c$ clause queries, for fixed $0<c<1$. It establishes a local information obstruction, not an unrestricted time lower bound. For fixed $δ>0$, transcripts of $N^{1-δ}$ queries leave $N-o(N)$ bits of witness entropy. On typical support graphs, expansion yields linear Resolution width, linear PC/PCR and SOS degree, and exponential proof size. Bounds hold for semantic Cutting Planes under a partition condition and for Positivstellensatz with bounded product width, uniformly over unsatisfiable support-preserving signings. Structural evidence and the limits of acceleration strategies motivate the self-referential $K$-SAT exhaustive-search hypothesis (SRK-ESH): no uniform deterministic algorithm deciding the promise family achieves a fixed proportional saving in the exponent. This dual-evidence criterion combines intrinsic hardness mechanisms with algorithmic evidence. We interpret this hypothesis as a quantitative projection of the Gödel-style local--global gap. The information obstruction constrains quantum local observation and statistical learning from bounded local information.

Repairs for Whom? Evaluator-Executor Mismatch in Selecting Repairs for Failed LLM Agents

Yijun Liao, Fanwei Liang

When an LLM agent fails, repair methods choose which action to replace and what to put in its place. They often score candidate repairs with greedy replay, a stronger model, an environment oracle, or a judge that reads the failed log. We ask whether these evaluators pick repairs that help the agent that will actually execute them. Holding failed trajectories and candidate single-step repairs fixed, we label every candidate with independent rollouts of the deployed policy and measure how much deployment value each evaluator's choice loses. On failures not screened for repair value, pre-specified tests show that greedy replay loses 0.08-0.13 in expected net success gain in ALFWorld and 0.06-0.13 in net reward in WebShop, relative to selection with the deployed agent's own rollouts. At an equal rollout budget, selecting repairs for Qwen2.5-7B with Qwen2.5-14B rollouts loses 0.25 in ALFWorld and 0.07 in WebShop, twenty 14B rollouts per candidate are worth no more than two of the 7B agent's own, and fresh rollouts confirm that the two models prefer opposite repairs on selected disagreement cases. Between similar-sized models from different families, the losses appear in both directions in both environments (0.07-0.17). The scoring executor also changes repair-location labels and method rankings. Repairs should be verified with the executor that will run them, and repair labels should name their executor.

UniDG: Unified Defect Generation via Defect-Context Editing

Yuanting Fan, Jun Liu, Bin-Bin Gao, Xiaochen Chen, Yuhuan Lin, Zhewei Dai, Jiawei Zhan, Chengjie Wang

Generating realistic visual defects is crucial for alleviating the scarcity of abnormal samples in anomaly detection, yet existing methods often rely on category-specific few-shot adaptation and struggle to generalize across objects, defect types, and domains. This limitation stems in part from the lack of paired defect editing data and the fine-grained nature of defect appearance, where subtle variations in scale, texture, and morphology must be preserved while maintaining consistency with the target scene. To address this challenge, we introduce UDG, a dataset of 300K normal-abnormal-mask-caption quadruplets curated from diverse defect-related scenarios, and present UniDG, a unified defect generation model. UniDG formulates defect synthesis as Defect-Context Editing: it extracts reference defect context with adaptive cropping, organizes reference and target inputs in a structured diptych format, and fuses multimodal conditions through MM-DiT attention. We further develop a two-stage training strategy: Diversity-SFT learns diverse transferable defect priors from paired editing data, while optional Consistency-RFT can further improve reference adherence, local realism, and defect-category consistency. Without per-category fine-tuning or using MVTec-AD/VisA for training, UniDG outperforms prior few-shot anomaly generation and image insertion/editing baselines in both synthesis quality and downstream single- and multi-class anomaly detection/localization.

EgoThumb: A Vision-Driven Supernumerary Robotic Thumb for Autonomous Grasp and Holding Assistance

Jianyu Hou, Jiawei Fu, Weikang Wan, Minghui Jiang, Jiajun Li, Hao Su

Supernumerary robotic fingers augment human dexterity by enabling a single hand to perform complex "hold-and-manipulate" tasks that typically require bimanual coordination. However, existing devices are often hindered by bulky hardware that limits interaction to large objects and rely on explicit hand motion triggers that lack environmental context. To address these challenges, we present EgoThumb, a fully open-source, vision-driven supernumerary robotic thumb. EgoThumb features a compact, dual tendon-driven finger whose actuation is relocated to the forearm, reducing distal weight while enabling precise active joint control. The system utilizes a visual imitation learning policy that maps egocentric images from a palm-facing camera directly to continuous joint positions. By implicitly decoding human intent from visual cues capturing both the hand and the object of interest, EgoThumb achieves robust autonomous manipulation and strong generalization across diverse users and environments. All hardware designs and software implementations are fully open-sourced at https://ego-thumb.github.io.

Tracing the Cascade: A Topology-Aware Evaluation Framework for Scientific Agent Hallucinations

Xinshun Feng, Ziqi Miao, Lijun Li, Jing Shao

Large language model (LLM) agents are increasingly deployed in scientific research, where reliability is critical and the underlying knowledge is densely interconnected. In such settings, hallucinations are particularly damaging: a single erroneous claim on a foundational concept can propagate through multi-step reasoning and corrupt entire trajectories. Existing hallucination benchmarks largely operate at the surface level, treating facts in isolation and relying on uniform accuracy metrics that ignore this topological structure. We address this gap with SCHEMA, the first evidence-grounded, topology-aware evaluation framework for hallucinations in scientific agents. SCHEMA automatically constructs scientific concept graphs from benchmark seeds and literature evidence, synthesizes graph-grounded tasks spanning claim verification, multi-hop reasoning, open-ended explanation, and experimental code generation, and evaluates agents with two complementary diagnostics. A trajectory hallucination pipeline audits intermediate reasoning at scale via a topology-weighted severity score, while a multi-agent counterfactual attribution module pinpoints the causal mechanism behind selected failures. SCHEMA reveals that hallucinations concentrate at a small set of highly connected knowledge hubs, and that final-answer accuracy decouples from trajectory honesty; models often reach correct conclusions through structurally flawed reasoning. These results indicate that for high-stakes scientific applications, terminal accuracy alone is an insufficient signal of agent reliability, motivating mechanism-level evaluation grounded in knowledge topology. Code is available at https://github.com/circles-post/SCHEMA.

Defense-as-Skill: Evolving Runtime Guard Skill for Skill-Augmented Agents

Xiaofang Yang, Ziqi Miao, Chen Qian, Dianbo Sui, Jing Shao, Lijun Li

Skill-augmented agents load reusable skills as persistent runtime context, improving task performance but also giving malicious skills a durable channel for steering future actions. Such skills may leak secrets, corrupt code, bypass approvals, or stage data for exfiltration only after a concrete user task and workspace state make the unsafe action appear useful. This makes pre-install vetting insufficient and calls for runtime, task-conditioned protection. We propose Defense-as-Skill, a defense paradigm that implements the runtime guard itself as an installable, inspectable, and editable skill. Our guard, SkillSonar, runs alongside untrusted task skills and checks sensitive actions against the user's task boundary, routing each action to an allow, replan, or confirmation decision without modifying the underlying agent runtime. To study this setting, we construct SCOPE-R, a task-conditioned dataset covering 6 risk families and 21 sub-categories, with 206 attack-confirmed malicious instances and 43 benign tasks. We then improve SkillSonar on the SCOPE-R training subset using runtime guard-skill evolution, a Monte-Carlo Tree Search procedure that evolves the on-disk guard skill from feedback on the rollouts. Across Claude Code and OpenClaw, the evolved guard substantially reduces attack success while maintaining a favorable safety-utility trade-off; on repeated GLM-5 runs, ID ASR drops from 0.482 to 0.104 and OOD ASR from 0.606 to 0.115, with gains transferring across victim models, held-out risk families, and external benchmarks. These results show that runtime guards can be skill-native, transparent, and evolvable policy artifacts for skill-augmented agents.

A generalist policy for muscle-driven control across individual musculoskeletal models

Bozhao Wang, Yinglei Zhu, Zhengqing Li, Zhiyuan Zhang, Weiming Kang, Yiheng He, XinJun Liu, Senhao Hou 等 10 位作者

Differences in musculoskeletal morphology challenge policy reuse across individual models. Here we present MyoAcross, a framework that combines individual musculoskeletal model construction, morphology-conditioned policy learning and virtual model augmentation to enable muscle-driven reference-motion tracking without individual fine-tuning. Across 31 held-out individual models, MyoAcross achieves 99.24% completion and reduces tracking error by 22.60% relative to an unconditioned multilayer perceptron. Policy reuse extends to models of 22 held-out individuals constructed from single-image shape estimates, measured height and body mass, and, with asymmetry augmentation, to models with unilateral lower-limb shortening. Comparisons with measurements from 120 additional individuals show agreement in vertical ground reaction force waveforms and channel-dependent agreement between simulated muscle activations and electromyography. These results establish a common control framework for comparative simulations of movement across individual musculoskeletal models.

CrystalREPA: Transferring Physical Priors from Universal MLIPs to Crystal Generative Models

Chengqian Zhang, Yucheng Jin, Duo Zhang, Tiejun Li, Han Wang

Crystal generative models mainly learn what stable crystals look like, with little explicit supervision for what makes them stable. We reveal a substantial representation gap between state-of-the-art crystal generative models and pretrained universal machine learning interatomic potentials (MLIPs) via energy probing, and show this gap can be closed by a simple training-time alignment. We propose Crystal REPresentation Alignment (CrystalREPA), a plug-and-play framework that aligns the atom-wise hidden states of generative encoders with frozen MLIP representations through an element-aware contrastive objective, transferring stability-aware atomistic priors with marginal training overhead and no additional inference cost. Across three generative frameworks, ten MLIP teachers, and two benchmark datasets, CrystalREPA consistently improves the thermodynamic stability, structural validity, and structural fidelity of generated crystals. Equally important, we find that an MLIP's transfer effectiveness is poorly predicted by its accuracy on standard leaderboards (e.g., Matbench Discovery) but strongly predicted by the distinguishability of its atom-wise representation space, yielding a practical, accuracy-independent criterion for selecting MLIP teachers for generative transfer. Code is available at https://github.com/Chengqian-Zhang/CrystalREPA.

GuardRAG: A Post-Retrieval Defense against Poisoning Attacks in Retrieval-Augmented Generation

Linghui Jiao, Kang Wei, Fushuo Huo, Ruijie Zhao, Yiyang Ni, Jingcai Guo, Yipeng Zhou, Jun Li

Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) enhances the factual grounding of Large Language Models (LLMs) by incorporating external evidence, but also exposes them to corpus poisoning attacks. In particular, coordinated attacks can introduce multiple mutually reinforcing poisoned documents into retrieved contexts, making reliable evidence filtering challenging. To address this problem, we propose GuardRAG, a training-free and plug-and-play post-retrieval defense that exploits the semantic structure of retrieved evidence to identify suspicious document groups. Specifically, GuardRAG first expands the retrieval range and removes near-duplicate candidates, then partitions the retained documents using Hierarchical Agglomerative Clustering (HAC) with a query-adaptive threshold. Finally, it scores and prunes suspicious clusters based on query relevance, cluster size, and semantic compactness. Experiments across three question-answering datasets, multiple poisoning attacks, and six LLMs demonstrate that GuardRAG substantially reduces attack success rates while maintaining answer utility under clean retrieval.

Conformal Novelty Detection via Data-enhanced Localization

Xiaoyang Wu, Jiajun Liu, Haojie Ren, Changliang Zou

Novelty detection is an important area of research in both statistics and machine learning. In this paper, we focus on the conditional novelty detection problem, where novelties arise from the relationship between different variables. We first adopt the conformal inference framework and propose a data-enhanced localized conformal p-value, constructed by recalibrating an enhanced conditional distribution estimator. This estimator efficiently captures conditional information by incorporating both calibration and test data into its kernel estimation. We show that our p-values are valid in finite samples and can improve detection efficiency. Based on this p-value, we then develop a novel conditional novelty detection algorithm, along with a data-driven bandwidth selection method that ensures finite-sample false discovery rate control while enhancing detection power. Both simulated and real data experiments demonstrate the advantages of our proposed approach.

A Hierarchical Method for Environmental Sounds Recognition in Complex Acoustic Scenes

Zhouwen Li, Haijun Lin, Bowen Lv, Yupeng Chen

Environmental noise identification is essential for noise control, yet conventional single-stage classifiers suffer from class confusion under imbalanced multiclass conditions. This paper proposes a lightweight hierarchical model integrating a Frequency-Time Adaptive Network (FTANet) with a two-stage classification mechanism. FTANet employs parallel asymmetric one-dimensional convolutions to capture temporal dynamics and frequency-band distributions, while adaptive fusion attention (AFA) enhances discriminative acoustic features. In the first stage, FTANet classifies sounds into five coarse-grained categories covering 25 fine-grained classes. In the second stage, samples are routed to the corresponding category-specific classifiers for fine-grained recognition. On a self-constructed dataset, FTANet achieves 95.45% coarse-grained accuracy with only 0.2004M parameters. On UrbanSound8K, it achieves 79.24% mean accuracy and 80.37% mean F1-score in ten-fold evaluation, outperforming compared convolutional models. Field tests on the Tianjin Online Acoustic Environment Monitoring Platform yield 87.94% coarse-grained accuracy and 97.21% conditional fine-grained accuracy for natural sounds correctly routed to C2. The complete hierarchical model achieves 87.18% overall accuracy and 87.40% weighted-average F1-score, demonstrating its feasibility for urban environmental noise monitoring.

AIPC: Evidence-Guided Agent Workflows for PyTorch Project Deployment

Zhanwei Wu, Jianhao Su, Brian Zhang, ShengTing Huang, Weidong Feng, Gang Liu, Zhiguo Li, Wei Huang 等 14 位作者

Deploying and optimizing a PyTorch inference project on a dedicated accelerator, especially an on-device NPU, requires more than using a framework device API as with CUDA. The project must be converted into hardware-runtime artifacts and adapted to the target toolchain and application interface. Differences in model formats, quantization flows, operator support, and toolchain interfaces create cross-layer problems spanning PyTorch/ONNX models, toolchains, runtimes, and device execution. LLM Agents can invoke tools to address such problems, but may drift because of insufficient domain knowledge, large configuration and repair spaces, or poor path selection. We propose AIPC (AI Porting & Conversion), an Agent method for deploying PyTorch inference projects. AIPC combines structured Skills with toolchain, runtime, and profiling evidence to drive cross-layer diagnosis and repair, organizing model adaptation, artifact building, on-target execution, accuracy repair, and performance optimization into one deployment flow. We evaluate AIPC on the on-device NPU path of Qualcomm QAIRT across vision, speech, LLM, and diffusion models. In two optimization cases, 6/7 Skill-arm Whisper-Small runs meet predefined accuracy and latency criteria versus 0/6 control runs, while YOLO-Worldv2 achieves a 2.791x end-to-end speedup versus 1.599x for the control. Under a pre-fixed deployment contract, Skill, tool permissions, and check conditions, some runs achieve zero in-run human intervention (0-HITL). We also examine Qwen3.8-27B as a locally deployable model for driving an Agent workflow.

Wave Is All You Need: A Quantum Language Model Based on Fully Connected Quantum Boltzmann Machine

Jun Liu

This work proposes a self-attention mechanism based on the fully connected quantum Boltzmann machine (FC-QBM), and further constructs a fully connected quantum Boltzmann machine language model (FC-QBM-LM) using the mechanism as the core engine. By performing unitary evolution on semantic quantum states, the mechanism implicitly implements positional encoding and self-attention computation, eliminating the need to decompose continuous semantic streams into discrete matrices for explicit matrix multiplication, with the measurement results naturally satisfying the normalization condition. Specifically, this work rigorously derives the computational principle of the self-attention mechanism based on FC-QBM, and demonstrates that this mechanism is mathematically equivalent to the classical self-attention mechanism. The mathematical principles governing the training and generation of FC-QBM-LM are thoroughly derived, and the two corresponding algorithms are subsequently developed. An 8-qubit FC-QBM-LM is finally constructed and trained on the corpus of Tang poetry. Under the 8-qubit setting, the quantum layer implements the entire positional encoding and self-attention computation pipeline with only 44 parameters. In the noiseless scenario, the model exhibits favorable convergence. Furthermore, the quantum circuit proposed in this work, which terminates with Y-axis rotation gates, achieves better convergence than the counterpart terminating with X-axis rotation gates. Under the small-sample regime and across eight distinct noise intensity levels, the model demonstrates strong noise robustness, retaining over 99% of its noiseless convergence performance. Experiments on five-character quatrain generation reveal that the model preliminarily exhibits three core capabilities: associative and divergent thinking, content generation across imagery and human-aligned word ordering.

VibeGame: Prompt-to-Game Development with AI-Native Engine and Self-Evolving Adversarial Agent Team

Wenbo Hu, Ken Li, Jiazhe Wei, Yukang Cao, Weiyi Hong, Jiayi Dai, Chenjun Bai, Jiajun Liang 等 16 位作者

Large language model agents have enabled software development through natural-language interaction, but extending this paradigm to end-to-end game development remains challenging. Building a playable game requires coordinating code, scenes, assets, animations, physics, and configurations, while allowing developers to validate their integrated behavior through interactive testing. We introduce VibeGame, a framework for creating complete 2D game projects from natural-language prompts and optional reference images. Its AI-native game engine represents project state as schema-validated structured text and provides frame-synchronous runtime control, enabling agents to inspect game states, execute actions, and verify behavior at their own pace. Built upon this interface, we design an Adversarial Agent Team of eight specialized agents to separate implementation from review, so that problems are found and fixed through multi-round loops. For each conducted and accepted project, we further introduce a training-free self-evolution mechanism to distill it into reusable skeletons, modules, and collaboration contracts for future development. We evaluate prompt-assets-to-game (PA2G), where agents are given an asset library, and prompt-to-game (P2G), where agents generate their own art. On a GameCraft-Bench subset, VibeGame in P2G consistently outperforms a range of agent harnesses in either P2G or PA2G with the same underlying model, including GPT-6.1-Sol.

JointCoder: Exploring Automated ICD Coding on Real-World Chinese EHRs with a Multi-Agent Framework

Automated ICD coding is a critical task for standardizing clinical information from electronic health records (EHRs) and supporting downstream healthcare administration. However, existing automated ICD coding systems face several fundamental challenges. First, the majority of existing research focuses on English ICD tasks, with limited attention to Chinese-language clinical contexts due to the scarcity of publicly available Chinese ICD datasets. Second, most approaches primarily target disease coding, overlooking procedure coding as well as the multi-stage workflows followed in real-world clinical practice. Moreover, many recent methods rely heavily on closed-source large language models or substantial computational resources, which limits their scalability and deployability in clinical environments. To address these gaps, this paper proposes JointCoder, which includes a real-world Chinese ICD coding dataset and a multi-agent framework that reformulates automated ICD coding as a joint disease-procedure coding task. JointCoder explicitly models real-world clinical coding workflows through stage-wise agent collaboration. All agents are instantiated using locally deployed 1.7B-parameter models, enabling scalable and privacy-preserving deployment.Extensive experiments on real-world Chinese ICD coding datasets demonstrate JointCoder’s superiority over state-of-the-art baselines across all evaluation metrics.

Detecting AI-Generated Content on Social Media with Multi-modal Language Models

Chenyang Yang, Shen Yan, Yibo Yang, Litao Hu, Yuchen Liu, Yuan Zeng, Hanchao Yu, Yinan Zhu 等 16 位作者

Generative AI has enabled the creation of photorealistic images and videos that are increasingly disseminated on social media, often used for spam, misinformation, manipulation, and fraud. Existing AI-generated content (AIGC) detection methods face challenges including poor generalization to new generation models, reliance on single modalities, and lack of interpretable explanations. We present our pipeline that mitigates these issues by continuously curating diverse multi-modal social media data and training a compact vision-language model for detection and explanation. Our model achieves state-of-the-art detection performance on public benchmarks and demonstrates robust detection and explanation capabilities on internal social media datasets across multiple platforms. We deployed our model for post recommendation on social media platforms and observed positive downstream impacts on user engagement, demonstrating that it is feasible to perform effective AIGC detection in dynamic, real-world social media environments.

Bit-by-Bit: Progressive QAT Strategy with Outlier Channel Splitting for Stable Low-Bit LLMs

Binxing Xu, Hao Gu The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Lujun Li, Hao Wang, Bei Liu The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Jiacheng Liu, Qiyuan Zhu, Xintong Yang 等 11 位作者

Training LLMs at ultra-low precision remains a formidable challenge. Direct low-bit QAT often suffers from convergence instability and substantial training costs, exacerbated by quantization noise from heavy-tailed outlier channels and error accumulation across layers. To address these issues, we present \text{Bit-by-Bit}, a progressive QAT framework with outlier channel splitting. Our approach integrates three key components: (1) block-wise progressive training that reduces precision stage by stage, ensuring stable initialization for low-bit optimization; (2) nested structure of integer quantization grids to enable a “train once, deploy any precision” paradigm, allowing a single model to support multiple bit-widths without retraining; (3) rounding-aware outlier channel splitting, which mitigates quantization error while acting as an identity transform that preserves the quantized outputs. Furthermore, we follow microscaling groups with E4M3 scales, capturing dynamic activation ranges in alignment with OCP/NVIDIA standards. To address the lack of efficient 2-bit kernels, we developed custom operators for both W2A2 and W2A16 configurations, achieving up to 11\times speedup over BF16. Under W2A2 settings, \text{Bit-by-Bit} significantly outperforms baselines like BitDistiller and EfficientQAT on both Llama2/3, achieving a loss of only 2.25 WikiText2 PPL compared to full-precision models.

Large Language Models (LLMs) have achieved impressive performance on reasoning-intensive tasks, yet optimizing their reasoning efficiency remains an open challenge. While Test-Time Scaling (TTS) improves reasoning quality, it often leads to overthinking—wasting tokens on redundant computations. This work investigates how to efficiently and adaptively guide LLM TTS without additional training. Inspired by the concept of momentum in physics, we propose Momentum Uncertainty-guided Reasoning (MUR), which dynamically allocates thinking budgets to critical reasoning steps by tracking and aggregating step-wise uncertainty over time. To support flexible inference-time control, we introduce -control, a simple mechanism that tunes the reasoning budget via a single hyperparameter. We provide in-depth theoretical proof to support the superiority of MUR in terms of stability and biases. MUR is comprehensively evaluated against various TTS methods across four challenging benchmarks (MATH-500, AIME24, AIME25, and GPQA-diamond) using different sizes of recent Qwen3 models (1.7B, 4B, and 8B). Results demonstrate that MUR reduces computation by over 45% on average while improving accuracy by 0.33–3.46%.

Binary quantization represents the most extreme form of compression, reducing weights to \pm1 for maximal memory and computational efficiency. While recent sparsity-aware binarization achieves sub-1-bit compression via weight pruning, it faces critical challenger: performance degradation, mask-management overhead, and limited hardware compatibility. In this paper, we present BTC-LLM, a novel sub-1-bit LLM quantization framework that leverages binary pattern clustering and weight transformation to overcome these limitations. Our approach incorporates two key innovations: (1) a Binary Codebook that clusters recurring vectors into compact indices using custom distance metrics and sign-based updates; (2) a Learnable Transformation that reduces outliers and promotes shared sign patterns among binary weights. This eliminates sparse masks, enabling efficient inference on standard hardware. Extensive evaluations across LLaMA, Qwen, and FBI-LLM families demonstrate that BTC-LLM achieves state-of-the-art results in extreme compression (1.11–0.7 bits). Notably, BTC-LLM compressed to 0.8 bits on LLaMA-2-13B maintains high performance—with only a 3.1% accuracy drop in zero-shot benchmarks—while delivering a 1.6\times speedup over FP16.

SEARL: Joint Optimization of Policy and Tool Graph Memory for Self-Evolving Agents

Xinshun Feng, Xinhao Song, Lijun Li Shanghai Artificial Intelligence Laboratory, Gongshen Liu Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Jing Shao Shanghai AI Laboratory

Recent advances in Reinforcement Learning with Verifiable Rewards (RLVR) have demonstrated significant potential in single-turn reasoning tasks. With the paradigm shift toward self-evolving agentic learning, models are increasingly expected to learn from trajectories by synthesizing tools or accumulating explicit experiences. However, prevailing methods typically rely on large-scale LLMs or multi-agent frameworks, which hinder their deployment in resource-constrained environments. The inherent sparsity of outcome-based rewards also poses a substantial challenge, as agents typically receive feedback only upon task completion. To address these limitations, we introduce a Tool-Memory based self-evolving agentic framework SEARL. Unlike approaches that directly utilize interaction experiences, our method constructs a structured experience memory that integrates planning with execution. This provides a novel form of state abstraction that facilitates the aggregation of actions within functionally analogous contexts, such as tool reuse. Consequently, agents not only extract explicit knowledge from historical data but also leverage inter-trajectory correlations to densify reward signals. We evaluate our framework on knowledge reasoning and complex search tasks, demonstrating its effectiveness in achieving more practical and efficient agentic learning.

GeoLaux: A Benchmark for Evaluating MLLMs’ Geometry Performance on Long-Step Problems Requiring Auxiliary Lines

Geometry problem solving (GPS) poses significant challenges for Multimodal Large Language Models (MLLMs) in diagram comprehension, knowledge application, long-step reasoning, and auxiliary line construction. However, current benchmarks lack fine-grained evaluation for long-step problems necessitating auxiliary construction. To address these limitations, we present GeoLaux, a fine-grained annotated dataset comprising 2186 calculation and proof problems. It features long-step reasoning (with an average solution length of 6.51 steps, maximum of 24 steps) and auxiliary line construction (required in 41.8% of problems). Building on the dataset, we conduct a comprehensive five-dimensional evaluation of 23 leading MLLMs. The evaluation yields three pivotal findings: First, models perform significantly worse on long-step problems compared to short-step ones, with 18 models exhibiting a performance drop of over 50%. Second, it is crucial to enhance models’ understanding, awareness, and proficiency in auxiliary line construction, which is vital for overall geometric reasoning. Third, limited answer hints effectively improve process correctness, whereas explicit answers lead models to neglect intermediate reasoning steps. These findings position GeoLaux both to benchmark MLLMs geometry reasoning abilities and to guide their improvement. Data and code are available at https://github.com/Candice-yu/GeoLaux

Long-term conversational memory is a core capability for LLM-baseddialogue systems, yet existing benchmarks and evaluation protocolsprimarily focus on surface-level factual recall. In realistic interactions, appropriate responses often depend onimplicit constraints such as user state, goals, or values that are notexplicitly queried later. To evaluate this setting, we introduce LoCoMo-Plus, a benchmarkfor assessing cognitive memory under cue–trigger semantic disconnect, where models must retain and apply latent constraints across longconversational contexts. We further show that conventional string-matching metrics and explicittask-type prompting are misaligned with such scenarios, and propose aunified evaluation framework based on constraint consistency.Experiments across diverse backbone models, retrieval-based methods, andmemory systems demonstrate that cognitive memory remains challenging andreveals failures not captured by existing benchmarks. Our code and evaluation framework are publicly available at https://github.com/xjtuleeyf/Locomo-Plus.

EyeMulator: Improving Code Language Models by Mimicking Human Visual Attention

Yifan Zhang SalesForce.com, Chen Huang National University of Singapore, Yueke Zhang, Jiahao Zhang Vanderbilt University, Toby Jia-Jun Li University of Notre Dame, Collin McMillan University of Notre Dame, Kevin Leach Vanderbilt University, Yu Huang Vanderbilt University

Code Language Models (CodeLLMs) traditionally learn attention based solely on statistical input-output token correlations (“machine attention”). In contrast, human developers rely on intuition, selectively fixating on semantically salient tokens during program comprehension. We present EyeMulator, a model-agnostic technique to align CodeLLM attention with human visual attention without architectural changes. By extracting scan paths from eye-tracking data, we derive token-level attention weights used to augment the loss function during fine-tuning. This induces the model to mimic human focus. Our evaluation across StarCoder, Llama-3.2, and DeepSeek-Coder shows that EyeMulator significantly outperforms baselines, achieving gains of over 30 CodeBLEU points in translation and up to 22 BERTScore points in summarization. Ablation studies confirm that these gains stem directly from replicating human attention dynamics. Artifacts are available at https://zenodo.org/records/17205682.

Zero-shot Jianzi Recognition as Structured Visual Information Extraction in Open Compositional Symbolic Systems

Zehan Li Northeastern University, Fu Zhang Northeastern University, Zhijun Liu, Jingwei Cheng Northeastern University, China

Guqin (古琴) Jianzi (減字) is an open and freely compositional tablature system that encodes performance actions rather than acoustic outcomes. Its automatic recognition remains largely unexplored, as conventional OCR assumes a closed and enumerable glyph set and struggles with Jianzi’s unbounded composition and manuscript-level variability. We introduce Zero-shot Jianzi Recognition, which formulates Jianzi recognition as vision-to-sequence prediction of canonical component sequences under a zero-shot split. To enable scalable supervision, we construct Synthetic-JZ from aligned online composition metadata. We then synthesize manuscript-like training images via component-wise style recomposition and manuscript-domain noise modeling, and fine-tune a vision–language model for end-to-end component sequence recognition. At inference time, a lightweight legality-guided correction module re-ranks decoding candidates, suppressing structural hallucinations without modifying the backbone.Experiments on two benchmarks show that our method achieves 63.02% sequence accuracy on Real-JZ, our manually annotated real-world Jianzi benchmark, surpassing Gemini-3-Pro by 35.11%. This result highlights the feasibility of reliable automated Jianzi recognition and its potential for large-scale digitization of historical Guqin Jianzi Pu manuscripts.

Inverting the Shield: Systematically Generating Safety Tests from Policy Specifications

Xiaoyue Lu, Xianglin Yang National University of Singapore, Haijun Liu, Jiahao Liu National University of Singapore, Kuntai Cai ByteDance Inc., Yan Xiao Sun Yat-Sen University, Jin Song Dong

The widespread integration of Large Language Models (LLMs) necessitates rigorous and systematic safety evaluation. Existing paradigms either rely on constructed benchmarks to assess safety from predefined perspectives, or employ dynamic red-teaming to probe potential vulnerabilities. While effective, these approaches face challenges, as they depend heavily on expert domain knowledge, offer limited systematic guarantees, and are vulnerable to rapid obsolescence. To address these limitations, we introduce a novel framework POLARIS that brings the rigor of specification-based software testing to AI safety. POLARIS first compiles unstructured natural-language policies into First-Order Logic (FOL) representations, establishing a traceable link between high-level rules and concrete test cases. This formalization enables the construction of a Semantic Policy Graph, where complex policy violation scenarios are encoded as traversable paths. By systematically exploring this graph, POLARIS uncovers compositional violation patterns, which are then instantiated into executable natural-language test queries, enabling coverage-driven and reproducible safety testing. Experiments demonstrate that POLARIS achieves higher policy coverage and attack success counts compared to established baselines. Crucially, by bridging formal methods and AI safety, POLARIS provides a principled, automated approach to ensuring LLMs adhere to safety-critical policies with verifiable traceability.

GASE: Graph-Aware Semantic Embedding Learning with Frozen LLMs for Text-Attributed Graphs

Mingqian Ding, Jianjun Li Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Wenqi Yang Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Zhibo Zhang, Yushen Fang

Large Language Models (LLMs) have shown strong potential for text-attributed graph (TAG) learning, yet effectively integrating LLM semantics with graph structural information remains challenging. Embeddings obtained from frozen LLMs lack topology awareness, while fine-tuning LLMs is often computationally expensive. Moreover, LLM embeddings are high-dimensional, and naively reducing dimensionality tends to destroy semantics. To address these issues, we propose GASE, a framework for learning Graph-Aware Semantic Embeddings using frozen LLMs. GASE consists of two key stages: First, we introduce a Training-Free Structure-Aware Semantic Extraction (TSSE) module. Through inter-layer semantic feedback and progressive masked attention, it efficiently compresses and propagates semantic context from neighboring nodes without updating LLM parameters. Second, we propose a Subspace Decomposition and Structural Injection (SDSI) strategy. Embeddings obtained from TSSE are decomposed into a semantic-rich subspace and a structural injection subspace, and structural signals are injected into the latter, which preserves original semantics while integrating graph information. Experiments demonstrate that GASE outperforms state-of-the-art baselines on node classification and achieves a 5× speedup over fine-tuning-based methods.

Evolutionary Guided Decoding: Iterative Value Refinement for LLMs

Zhenhua Liu Soochow University, Lijun Li Shanghai Artificial Intelligence Laboratory, Ruizhe Chen, Yuxian Jiang, Tong Zhu Shanghai Artificial Intelligence Laboratory, Zhaochen Su, Wenliang Chen Soochow University, China, Jing Shao Shanghai AI Laboratory

While guided decoding, especially value-guided methods, has emerged as a cost-effective alternative for controlling language model outputs without re-training models, its effectiveness is limited by the accuracy of the value function. We identify that this inaccuracy stems from a core distributional gap: existing methods train static value functions on trajectories sampled exclusively from the base policy, which inherently confines their training to a narrow and suboptimal view of the potential output space. We propose Iterative Value Refinement, a novel framework designed to bridge this gap. It employs Value Exploration to provide a more comprehensive and robust training signal, complemented by Iterative Self-Refinement, which uses the improved value function from one iteration to guide the generation of higher-quality data for the next. Extensive experiments on text summarization, multi-turn dialogue, and instruction following demonstrate the effectiveness of our framework in aligning language models. Our approach not only achieves alignment but also significantly reduces computational costs by leveraging principled value function optimization for efficient and effective control.
