SpikePose: Lightweight Video Human Pose Estimation

Yunhao Huang, Kaushik Bhargav Sivangi, Tianyi Yu, Fani Deligianni

原文摘要

Efficient video human pose estimation must balance localisation accuracy, motion quality, and energy cost. We present SpikePose, a lightweight video pose estimator that pairs a frame-reset, single-step spiking encoder with motion-aligned heatmap memory (MAM). The encoder supplies per-frame spatial evidence, while MAM estimates joint displacement, aligns historical heatmaps, and adaptively fuses them with current predictions. By confining temporal reasoning to a compact, lightweight module outside the spiking backbone, SpikePose helps bridge the gap between spiking and classical Artificial Neural Networks (ANN) on large-scale, non-event-driven video tasks. We evaluate spatial accuracy, motion errors, and estimated arithmetic energy on MPII and a fixed NTU60 Cross-Subject subset. Against the architecture-matched ANN with MAM, SpikePose cuts estimated arithmetic energy by 91.4% at a cost of just 1.12 points in head-bone-normalised PCK at 0.5 threshold (PCK_HB(0.5)). Within SpikePose, adding MAM reduces velocity and acceleration errors by 28.13% and 31.46% while slightly improving localisation, at a cost of only 0.003M parameters and 0.0023 analytical GFLOPs per frame. Code will be released on GitHub upon acceptance.

BudgetSplat: Budget-Controllable Generalizable Gaussian Splatting

Yuxi Hu, Jun Zhang, Wei Mao, Yuchen Rao, Friedrich Fraundorfer

原文摘要

Feed-forward 3D Gaussian Splatting enables efficient generalizable novel view synthesis, but existing pixel-aligned methods often generate highly redundant Gaussian primitives, causing the final representation size and rendering cost to grow rapidly with image resolution and the number of input views. We propose BudgetSplat, a budget-controllable feed-forward framework that adapts the final Gaussian representation to a user-specified preservation ratio. Rather than treating compaction as simple importance ranking, we formulate it as a joint problem of importance estimation, spatial coverage, and cross-view redundancy. A single trained model supports varying numbers of context views and multiple test-time budgets without per-budget retraining or per-scene compression. To realize this formulation, Intra-Cross Mask Supervision provides structure-, coverage-, and redundancy-aware guidance for learning Gaussian importance, while budget-conditioned feature modulation adapts Gaussian opacity and attributes to the requested preservation ratio. Coverage-Aware Budget Selection further combines patch-wise pre-selection, view-wise opacity ranking, and 3D redundancy suppression to construct compact yet spatially distributed Gaussian representations. Experiments on indoor reconstruction and cross-dataset generalization demonstrate consistent quality--size trade-offs across different input view counts and preservation ratios, substantially reducing final representation storage and rendering cost while preserving rendering quality.

TokenRepel: Generating Diverse Image Sets Without Compromising Quality

Qingtao Yu, Zhen Wang, Ning Lai, Boyang Hu, Hongdong Li, Dylan Campbell

原文摘要

We present an inference-time approach that enhances the visual diversity of image sets generated by text-to-image models, without compromising the average image quality. Our method leverages the intrinsic geometry of hidden representations in pretrained models to diversify images generated from the same prompt. First, we introduce a token repulsion mechanism that increases the angle between feature tokens across samples. It takes a negative Riemannian gradient step on a von Mises-Fisher mixture distribution of tokens on the unit hypersphere. Second, to preserve the quality of each output image, we propose a token density preservation mechanism that projects the repulsion-induced prediction change onto a half-space aligned with the model's score direction. This encourages the updates to remain within the high-density regions learned by the generative model. We further extend this mechanism to the output of each intermediate layer, enabling finer-grained iterative guidance. We evaluate our method on three types of pretrained text-to-image models. Experiments show substantial gains in visual diversity under identical prompts, while maintaining a comparable level of image fidelity.

EgoGen: An Egocentric Synthetic Data Generator

Gen Li, Kaifeng Zhao, Siwei Zhang, Xiaozhong Lyu, Mihai Dusmanu, Yan Zhang, Marc Pollefeys, Siyu Tang

原文摘要

Understanding the world in first-person view is fundamental in Augmented Reality (AR). This immersive perspective brings dramatic visual changes and unique challenges compared to third-person views. Synthetic data has empowered third-person-view vision models, but its application to embodied egocentric perception tasks remains largely unexplored. A critical challenge lies in simulating natural human movements and behaviors that effectively steer the embodied cameras to capture a faithful egocentric representation of the 3D world. To address this challenge, we introduce EgoGen, a new synthetic data generator that can produce accurate and rich ground-truth training data for egocentric perception tasks. At the heart of EgoGen is a novel human motion synthesis model that directly leverages egocentric visual inputs of a virtual human to sense the 3D environment. Combined with collision-avoiding motion primitives and a two-stage reinforcement learning approach, our motion synthesis model offers a closed-loop solution where the embodied perception and movement of the virtual human are seamlessly coupled. Compared to previous works, our model eliminates the need for a pre-defined global path, and is directly applicable to dynamic environments. Combined with our easy-to-use and scalable data generation pipeline, we demonstrate EgoGen's efficacy in three tasks: mapping and localization for head-mounted cameras, egocentric camera tracking, and human mesh recovery from egocentric views. EgoGen will be fully open-sourced, offering a practical solution for creating realistic egocentric training data and aiming to serve as a useful tool for egocentric computer vision research. Bricker to BRACE: A Bracket Exposure RAW Dataset and Restoration Model for Flicker-Banding

Zihan Zhou, Libo Zhu, Jue Gong, Zhiyi Zhou, Jiezhang Cao, Yong Guo, Yulun Zhang

原文摘要

Flicker-Banding (FB) arises from temporal aliasing between a camera's rolling shutter and a display's brightness modulation, degrading screen-captured image readability with color shifts and jagged patterns. Existing single-frame methods with simplified parametric stripe models cannot reliably distinguish these artifacts from genuine texture. To address this, we conduct a systematic analysis of complex FB morphologies and reveal their significant variation across exposure settings, motivating a multi-frame bracketed RAW restoration paradigm. We construct Bricker, a synthetic-real bracketed RAW dataset built via ray-tracing-based physical simulation and an automated multi-exposure capture tool. We further propose BRACE: Bracketed RAW Flicker-Banding Removal, a multi-frame restoration model that utilizes a frequency-aware banding prior and a multi-scale spatial cross-attention modulator (MSCAM) for cross-exposure spatial fusion. We also introduce the Stripe Frequency Consistency (SFC) metric to evaluate banding removal. Experiments demonstrate state-of-the-art performance on both synthetic and real benchmarks. Medial Axis Aware Learning of Signed Distance Functions

Samuel Weidemaier, Christoph Norden-Smoch, Martin Rumpf

原文摘要

We propose a novel variational method to compute a highly accurate global signed distance function (SDF) to a given point cloud. To this end, the jump set of the gradient of the SDF, which coincides with the medial axis of the surface, is explicitly taken into account through a higher-order variational formulation that enforces linear growth along the gradient direction away from this discontinuity set. The eikonal equation and the zero-level set of the SDF are enforced as constraints. To make this variational problem computationally tractable, a phase field approximation of Ambrosio-Tortorelli type is employed. The associated phase field function implicitly describes the medial axis. The method is implemented for surfaces represented by unoriented point clouds using neural network approximations of both the SDF and the phase field. Experiments demonstrate the method's accuracy both in the near field and globally. Quantitative and qualitative comparisons with other approaches show the advantages of the proposed method.

LungMend: A Healthy-Only Latent Diffusion Shape Prior for Lung Mask Correction in Severe Tuberculosis CT

Rezkellah Noureddine Khiat, Pierre-Yves Brillet, Catalin Fetita

原文摘要

Lung segmentation models such as R231 are widely used, but they fail on severe tuberculosis (TB) CT: cavities and consolidations look like non-lung tissue and are left out of the mask. We present LungMend, a post-processing model that corrects such masks using only healthy anatomy. A latent diffusion model, trained on healthy lungs with synthetically corrupted masks, learns to recover the complete lung from the faulty mask and the bone anatomy, without any pathological data or CT intensities. LungMend recovers cavities and consolidations that R231 misses and improves accuracy on expert-annotated slices. Code: https://github.com/noureddinekhiati/LungMend

Exploring Sequence Feature Alignment for Domain Adaptive Detection Transformers

Wen Wang, Yang Cao, Jing Zhang, Fengxiang He, Zheng-Jun Zha, Yonggang Wen, Dacheng Tao

原文摘要

Detection transformers have recently shown promising object detection results and attracted increasing attention. However, how to develop effective domain adaptation techniques to improve its cross-domain performance remains unexplored and unclear. In this paper, we delve into this topic and empirically find that direct feature distribution alignment on the CNN backbone only brings limited improvements, as it does not guarantee domain-invariant sequence features in the transformer for prediction. To address this issue, we propose a novel Sequence Feature Alignment (SFA) method that is specially designed for the adaptation of detection transformers. Technically, SFA consists of a domain query-based feature alignment (DQFA) module and a token-wise feature alignment (TDA) module. In DQFA, a novel domain query is used to aggregate and align global context from the token sequence of both domains. DQFA reduces the domain discrepancy in global feature representations and object relations when deploying in the transformer encoder and decoder, respectively. Meanwhile, TDA aligns token features in the sequence from both domains, which reduces the domain gaps in local and instance-level feature representations in the transformer encoder and decoder, respectively. Besides, a novel bipartite matching consistency loss is proposed to enhance the feature discriminability for robust object detection. Experiments on three challenging benchmarks show that SFA outperforms state-of-the-art domain adaptive object detection methods. Code has been made available at: https://github.com/encounter1997/SFA.

MKD2World: A Typed Spatial MarkDown World Model For Web Agents

Zhihao Nan, Sifan Zhou, Yiming Cheng, Jinkai Zheng, Zheng Zhu, Si Shi, Ming Li, Fei Yu

原文摘要

Graphical user interface (GUI) agents can improve decision-making with world-model foresight, provided that predicted states accurately reflect post-action interfaces. Existing state representations fail to jointly capture interface layout, UI semantics, and explicit locations. We introduce Typed Spatial Markdown (TSM), a Markdown-style textual state representation for desktop web interfaces. TSM serializes block-level and atomic-level UI elements according to their spatial relationships, jointly encoding their types, visual semantics, explicit locations, optional control states, and hierarchical membership. To train a screenshot-to-TSM renderer, we construct AtomBlock-WebUI, a dataset with precise annotations at both granularities. By injecting element-type labels into HTML and directly extracting bounding boxes after rendering, we avoid annotation errors caused by post-hoc inference from webpage structures. Building on TSM, we propose MKD2World, a desktop web world model trained in two stages for current-state description and action-conditioned next-state prediction. During inference, the web agent queries MKD2World as needed and performs a ``digest'' step, in which it interprets each predicted state and extracts task-relevant evidence for selecting the best action. Experiments show that MKD2World-9B achieves an EleF1 score of 26.50 on the out-of-domain test set, outperforming GPT-5.6-Sol(14.98) by 11.52 points. Across Online-Mind2Web tasks, MKD2World-9B improves the success rate of the Qwen3.5-35B web agent from 22.94% to 37.61%, achieving competitive performance among leading open-source GUI world models. Spatially and Compositionally Controlled Multimodal Glioblastoma MRI Synthesis with Latent Diffusion

Steven Glass, Max Van Puyvelde, Marija Pizurica, Mia Meyer, Olivier Gevaert, Willie Brink

原文摘要

Glioblastoma exhibits substantial heterogeneity in tumour morphology and composition across MRI modalities, often making available clinical datasets highly unbalanced in terms of patient pathologies. We propose a two-stage latent diffusion model (LDM) framework for the generation of explicitly controllable 2D glioblastoma MRI scans. First, a segmentation LDM generates tumour maps conditioned on location, spatial extent, axial position, and subregion composition. Second, a modality-conditioned LDM with ControlNet generates T1, T1Gd, T2, and FLAIR images adhering to the requested segmentation. On a held-out test set, generated segmentations achieved a mean centroid error of 0.842 pixels and a subregion proportion error of 0.795 percentage points. ControlNet improved Fréchet inception distance (FID) across all four modalities, reducing pooled FID from 42.59 to 36.12. An expert reader study yielded mean quality ratings of 6.60 for real images, 6.83 for ControlNet-generated images, and 6.77 for fully synthetic images.

The Alpha Blending Hypothesis: Compositing Shortcut in Deepfake Detection

Andrii Yermakov, Jan Cech, Mario Fritz, Jiri Matas

原文摘要

Recent deepfake detection methods demonstrate improved cross-dataset generalization, yet the underlying mechanisms remain underexplored. We introduce the Alpha Blending Hypothesis, positing that state-of-the-art frame-based detectors primarily function as alpha blending searchers; rather than learning semantic anomalies or specific generative neural fingerprints, they localize low-level compositing artifacts introduced during the integration of manipulated faces into target frames. We experimentally validate the hypothesis, demonstrating that deepfake detectors exhibit high sensitivity to the so-called self-blended images (SBI) and non-generative manipulations. We propose the method BlenD that leverages a large-scale, diverse dataset of real-only facial images augmented with SBI. This approach achieves the best average cross-dataset generalization on 15 compositional deepfake datasets released between 2019 and 2025 without utilizing explicitly generated deepfakes during training. Furthermore, we show that predictions from explicit blending searchers and models resilient to blending shortcuts are highly complementary, yielding a state-of-the-art AUROC of 94.0% in an ensemble configuration. The code with experiments and the trained model will be publicly released.

PhotoGuider: Composition-Aware Cropping and 360° View Framing with Explainable Photographic Assessments

Yuan-Kang Lee, Kuan-Lin Chen, Chia-Che Chang, Yu-Lun Liu

原文摘要

Traditional image cropping assumes the photograph already contains the composition worth keeping, and asks only where to crop. A full 360$^{\circ}$ scene offers no such guarantee: the viewing direction in a scene has to be discovered before anything can be framed. We present PhotoGuider, a measure-then-frame method that answers both questions with compact learned scorers over one shared set of composition-aware features. The designed features are extracted using foundation and task-specific vision models and structured into four photographic tokens: Subject, Composition, Aesthetics, and Integrity. Our MLLM explainer is fine-tuned to generate composition-related explanations conditioned on images and measured token assessments. To our knowledge, PhotoGuider is the first method to combine explicit composition-based direction selection in 360$^{\circ}$ panoramas with refined framing, camera-parameter output for native re-rendering, and measurement-conditioned explanations. On two standard 2D cropping benchmarks, PhotoGuider achieves the highest average mIoU performance against ground-truth crops. In a blind ranking study, 120 participants ranked three cropping methods over 100 panoramic scenes from the public Poly Haven HDRI library, placing our framings first in 53.2% of cases, against 27.3% and 19.5% for two strong alternatives. Learning Optimal Lattice Vector Quantizers for End-to-end Neural Image Compression

Xi Zhang, Xiaolin Wu

原文摘要

It is customary to deploy uniform scalar quantization in the end-to-end optimized Neural image compression methods, instead of more powerful vector quantization, due to the high complexity of the latter. Lattice vector quantization (LVQ), on the other hand, presents a compelling alternative, which can exploit inter-feature dependencies more effectively while keeping computational efficiency almost the same as scalar quantization. However, traditional LVQ structures are designed/optimized for uniform source distributions, hence nonadaptive and suboptimal for real source distributions of latent code space for Neural image compression tasks. In this paper, we propose a novel learning method to overcome this weakness by designing the rate-distortion optimal lattice vector quantization (OLVQ) codebooks with respect to the sample statistics of the latent features to be compressed. By being able to better fit the LVQ structures to any given latent sample distribution, the proposed OLVQ method improves the rate-distortion performances of the existing quantization schemes in neural image compression significantly, while retaining the amenability of uniform scalar quantization. Code is available at: https://github.com/xzhang9308/OLVQ.

Gnomon4D: Learning Where and When to Focus for Geometric Motion-Grounded World-Action Modeling

Lingwei Dang, Yan Zhou, Juntong Li, Zhenhao Zhang, Yiteng Chen, Xiaoqiang Liu, Liang An, Hongwen Zhang 等 13 位作者

原文摘要

World-action models (WAMs) predict scene changes to guide robot actions, yet their RGB futures entangle state changes with appearance and lack 3D geometry. Recent WAMs add geometry as a training signal or a control interface, or build native 3D models, but decide what geometry to model rather than how the action should read it. Intuitively, control-relevant cues lie at embodiment--object interactions and their transitions, yet probing existing WAMs reveals that their action attention underweights these interactions in favor of the rest of the embodiment. To focus the action on these interactions, we present Gnomon4D, a WAM that jointly generates future video, robot actions, and GeoDelta, a video-aligned 4D geometric motion field recording the image-plane displacement and depth change of embodiment and object points. With the embodiment and objects in one field, their relative motion, which marks an interaction, can be read off. Guided by this motion and the task, Interaction-Salient Attention (InSAttn) selects where the action reads, and Transition-Anchored Aggregation (TransAgg) selects when, around grasp and release. As GeoDelta encodes surface motion rather than embodiment-specific controls, it serves as a human--robot quasi-action that links action-free pretraining on EgoManip-5000H, which we curate, to robot mid-training on Robot-30H. Gnomon4D leads on RoboTwin~2.0, VLABench, and RoboDojo, and outperforms real-robot baselines, especially under visual shifts. Project page: https://droliven.github.io/Gnomon4D.

EgoM2P: Egocentric Multimodal Multitask Pretraining

Gen Li, Yutong Chen, Yiqian Wu, Kaifeng Zhao, Marc Pollefeys, Siyu Tang

原文摘要

Understanding multimodal signals in egocentric vision, such as RGB video, depth, camera poses, and gaze, is essential for applications in augmented reality, robotics, and human-computer interaction, enabling systems to better interpret the camera wearer's actions, intentions, and surrounding environment. However, building large-scale egocentric multimodal and multitask models presents unique challenges. Egocentric data are inherently heterogeneous, with large variations in modality coverage across devices and settings. Generating pseudo-labels for missing modalities, such as gaze or head-mounted camera trajectories, is often infeasible, making standard supervised learning approaches difficult to scale. Furthermore, dynamic camera motion and the complex temporal and spatial structure of first-person video pose additional challenges for the direct application of existing multimodal foundation models. To address these challenges, we introduce a set of efficient temporal tokenizers and propose EgoM2P, a masked modeling framework that learns from temporally-aware multimodal tokens to train a large, general-purpose model for egocentric 4D understanding. This unified design supports multitasking across diverse egocentric perception and synthesis tasks, including gaze prediction, egocentric camera tracking, and monocular depth estimation from egocentric video, and also serves as a generative model for conditional egocentric video synthesis. Across these tasks, EgoM2P matches or outperforms specialist models while being an order of magnitude faster. We will fully open-source EgoM2P to support the community and advance egocentric vision research. Project page: https://egom2p.github.io/.

RA-ClipScore: Making Generative Model Evaluation More Interpretable

Yifan Lu, Taras Kucherenko, Hedvig Kjellström, Judith Bütepage

原文摘要

Generative models can produce images nearly indistinguishable from real data, yet rigorous and interpretable evaluation remains challenging. Conventional metrics such as FID provide only scalar scores with limited diagnostic insight. Widely adopted CLIP-based metrics enable semantic evaluation beyond simple training class labels, but inherit limitations from CLIP's training paradigm that restrict attribute-wise analysis. We propose RA-CLIPScore, a novel metric that mitigates these issues and extends CLIP-based evaluation to spatial distribution alignment, measuring whether generated objects adhere to the positional priors found in the training data. RA-CLIPScore introduces dual prompts to decouple competing attributes and leverages local patch tokens to capture fine-grained regional semantics. We evaluate image generative models on their ability to match both attribute and spatial distributions of the training data. Extensive experiments show that RA-CLIPScore provides more robust and interpretable evaluations than prior methods, particularly under distribution misalignment or partially irrelevant textual attributes. We further demonstrate how it reveals spatial biases in generative models. User evaluations confirm that Regional Single Attribute Divergence based on our RA-CLIPScore aligns more closely with human perception of visual diversity than existing semantic metrics.

EmoReward: Self-Evolving Reward Calibration for Emotional Video Generation RL

原文摘要

Group Relative Policy Optimization (GRPO) has advanced generative model post-training in verifiable domains such as code and mathematics, but evaluating video quality, especially emotional expression, often depends on subjective aesthetics and has no uniquely correct target. Existing approaches typically rely on fixed rewards for visual quality, motion quality, and text alignment that poorly capture emotional intent and can invite reward hacking, while RLHF is difficult to scale and subject to individual aesthetic differences that complicate the calibration of facial, body motion, and chromatic cues across narrative contexts. We introduce EmoReward, a new self-evolving training mechanism that distills evidence reliability from reward traces collected during an actual training run to adaptively guide multi-reward weight allocation in subsequent training by determining which emotional evidence to trust and how much to weight it. EmoReward first plans specific grounding cues from the emotional prompt to guide evaluation, then uses heterogeneous signal primitives to score the generated video during the act stage. Reflective Reward Gating calibrates their contributions through instance-level gates for phase, face confidence, conflict, and subtlety, then renormalizes weights over the active set to produce the sample's fused reward. RewardMemory then estimates each primitive's reliability from rollout scores and outcomes within each emotional regime in the finished training run, then fixes bounded multipliers that calibrate fusion weights in the next training run without updating reward models. Experiments on HunyuanVideo 1.5 show improvements across multiple RL algorithms and compare EmoReward with other agentic reward methods under SAGE-GRPO. Ablations and transfer experiments on SD 3.5 and FLUX further support adaptive reward calibration for visual generation.

Certified Circuits: Stability Guarantees for Mechanistic Circuits

Alaa Anani, Tobias Lorenz, Bernt Schiele, Mario Fritz, Jonas Fischer

原文摘要

Understanding how neural networks arrive at their predictions is essential for debugging, auditing, and deployment. Mechanistic interpretability pursues this goal by identifying circuits--minimal subnetworks responsible for specific behaviors. However, existing circuit discovery methods are brittle: circuits depend strongly on the chosen concept dataset and often fail to transfer out-of-distribution, raising doubts whether they capture the concept or merely dataset-specific artifacts. We introduce Certified Circuits, which provide provable stability guarantees for circuit discovery. Our framework wraps any black-box discovery algorithm with randomized data subsampling to certify that inclusion decisions over circuit components--neurons or edges of the model graph, depending on the base algorithm--are invariant to bounded edit-distance perturbations of the concept dataset. Unstable components are abstained from, yielding circuits that are more compact and more accurate. We validate across three architectures (ResNet, ViT, GPT-2) on vision (ImageNet and four OOD datasets) and language (IOI, IOI-Hard, Greater-Than) tasks. Certified circuits achieve up to 56% higher accuracy and up to 80% fewer components, and remain reliable where baselines degrade. Certified Circuits puts circuit discovery on formal ground by producing mechanistic explanations that are provably stable and better aligned with the target concept. Learning to Live: A Step Toward Lifelong Embodied Intelligence

原文摘要

Embodied agents are usually organized around individual tasks, yet the physical world keeps changing between tasks and during execution. We introduce LIFE (Lifelong Intelligence from Experience), a framework in which a robot observes continuously, remembers selectively, and turns experience into new capabilities. RoboBeats, a family of lightweight streaming gates, tracks conditions set by the agent and discovers new events, deciding when an observation warrants a response or a memory write. Selected observations enter Plastic Memory, a flat store of images and structured records that keeps the source evidence, so new fields and indexes can be added when later questions need them. When existing tools fall short, Explore-Distill-Mount (EDM) turns solutions found during problem solving into validated, reusable tools and skills. Under matched protocols, RoboBeats substantially improves condition tracking over its base models and, at the same writing budget, retains more useful evidence for memory question answering than uniform sampling. A case study of limited scale, replaying 24 hours of continuous video recorded by a real robot, illustrates how the integrated system builds memory from a day of experience and uses it to answer everyday questions. LIFE takes a step toward robots that become more familiar with their surroundings and more capable through experience: learning not only to complete tasks, but to live in the world.

Object-independent evaluation of small-data astronomical image classifiers: architecture, representation, and acquisition shortcuts

Eraldo Pereira Marinho

原文摘要

Reported performance in small astronomical image datasets can reflect object reuse, field-of-view differences, acquisition settings, and catalogue-derived properties as well as astronomical morphology. We designed \dataset{} to measure these effects in a four-class task comprising galaxies, globular clusters, nebulae, and open clusters. The dataset contains 370 catalogue-supported physical objects, each represented by three Digitised Sky Survey FITS bands, and uses a group-constrained split of 222 training, 75 validation, and 73 test objects. We compared a custom CNN--Transformer trained from scratch with ImageNet-pretrained ResNet-50 and ViT-B/16 under an adaptive full-field representation, a common angular field, and two central-region-masked controls, using three fixed seeds. In the one-pass object-independent test, mean balanced accuracy on the adaptive view was $0.773\pm0.014$, $0.874\pm0.054$, and $0.866\pm0.023$ for the custom model, ResNet-50, and ViT-B/16, respectively. No primary architecture contrast rejected its null after Holm correction; ResNet-50 and ViT-B/16 differed by 0.007 balanced-accuracy points (95\% cluster-bootstrap interval $[-0.048,0.062]$). Controls based on acquisition and catalogue metadata reached 0.721--0.735, and central-region-masked adaptive views reached 0.731--0.800. These results demonstrate generalisation to unseen physical objects, but also show that image context, acquisition settings, and catalogue-derived object properties carry substantial class information. In this regime, high accuracy cannot be interpreted as evidence that a classifier learned target morphology, and the comparison does not isolate architecture from pretraining.

SenseShift6D: Multimodal RGB-D Benchmarking for Robust 6D Pose Estimation across Environment and Sensor Variations

Yegyu Han, Taegyoon Yoon, Dayeon Woo, Sojeong Kim, Hyung-Sin Kim

原文摘要

Recent advances on 6D object pose estimation have achieved high performance on representative benchmarks such as LM-O, YCB-V, and T-Less. These datasets capture natural-occurring variations in illumination and camera setup but do not systematically explore the effects of controllable sensor configurations, such as exposure, gain, and depth-sensor modes. To bridge this gap, we introduce SenseShift6D, the first RGB-D object-pose benchmark that physically sweeps 13 RGB exposures, 9 RGB gains, auto-exposure, 4 depth-capture modes, and 5 illumination levels. For six common household objects, we acquire 198.8k RGB and 20.0k depth images (i.e., 795.4k RGB-D scenes), providing 1,380 unique sensor-lighting permutations per object pose. Experiments with state-of-the-art pretrained, generalizable pose estimators reveal substantial performance variation across lighting and sensor settings, despite their large-scale pretraining. Strikingly, even instance-level estimators-trained and tested on identical objects and backgrounds-exhibit pronounced sensitivity to environmental and sensor shifts. These findings establish sensor- and environment-aware robustness as an underexplored yet essential dimension of 6D pose estimation. To illustrate the opportunity enabled by this benchmark, we evaluate test-time sensor selection without retraining. An idealized controller yields remarkable gains of up to +16.2 pp for generalizable models, whereas a practical consistency-based proxy provides only limited improvements, highlighting substantial headroom and the need for future research on reliable sensor-aware adaptation. SenseShift6D is available at huggingface.co/datasets/Yegyu/SenseShift6D.

An electrical outlet can look like a face without depicting a person. Face pareidolia is thus a revealing probe of how vision models turn ambiguous visual evidence into category judgments. When a model calls such an object Human, does that answer depend on its face-like arrangement? Using the FacesInThings dataset, we test six vision models, from a vision-only ViT to CLIP and generative vision-language models, with face detectors as a reference. Each face-like region is paired with three controls from the same photograph that lack the arrangement: a background crop, the region with its tiles shuffled, and its average color. A Human answer driven by the arrangement should appear less often on these controls. We also vary how the categories are described. Three findings emerge. First, models respond to illusory faces, but not as people do: face detectors rarely return a face for these regions, yet CLIP ViT-L/14 and two generative models label roughly half of them Human when the categories are described as kinds of face. Annotators, by contrast, read these faces as non-human, such as animal or cartoon faces. For these models, a face is a human face by default. Second, similar Human rates hide opposite behavior. LLaVA-1.5 answers Human less often once the arrangement is removed; Qwen2-VL calls every average-color patch Human and describes a person in each; CLIP ViT-B/32 calls shuffled regions Human more often than real faces; SmolVLM rarely answers Human, but mostly for face-like regions. Third, rewording the categories changes whether Human answers favor the face at all, removing this preference in LLaVA-1.5 and creating it in CLIP. A Human answer is not evidence of a face: vision models can keep giving it after the face is gone.

PointRAFT: 3D deep learning for high-throughput prediction of potato tuber weight from partial point clouds

原文摘要

Key phenotypic traits, such as crop size, volume, and weight, can be estimated non-destructively from point clouds. In practice, however, point clouds of crops are typically incomplete due to self-occlusion, leading to systematic errors when estimating these traits. To overcome this limitation, crop traits can be inferred directly from incomplete point clouds using deep learning-based regression networks. These networks, however, may perform suboptimally, because their predictions do not incorporate prior geometric knowledge of the crop. Such geometric knowledge is often available in structured settings, such as on a potato harvester, where the fixed distance between the camera and the conveyor belt allows tuber height to be derived from the point cloud. To exploit this geometric cue, we introduce PointRAFT, a high-throughput point cloud regression network that incorporates object height through a dedicated height embedding. We hypothesized that this height embedding improves tuber weight estimation from partial point clouds. To test this hypothesis, we collected 26,688 point clouds of 859 potato tubers on an operational harvester, spanning four cultivars and three growing seasons. On a test set of 5,254 point clouds representing 172 tubers, PointRAFT achieved a mean absolute error (MAE) of 11.7 g and a root mean squared error (RMSE) of 17.1 g, outperforming six point cloud regression networks without a height embedding. Requiring only 6.3 ms per point cloud for preprocessing and inference, PointRAFT is fast enough for high-throughput weight estimation on a commercial potato harvester. Beyond potato weight estimation, PointRAFT provides a versatile regression network applicable to a wide range of 3D phenotyping and robotic perception tasks. The code, network weights, and a subset of the dataset are publicly available at https://github.com/pieterblok/pointraft.

T$^2$-Splat: Adaptive Topology Mesh Splatting with Texture Residuals

Zhihao Tang, Youjia Zhang, Mingbo Zhao, Wei Yang

原文摘要

Triangle-based splatting connects novel view synthesis with conventional graphics pipelines, but often requires excessive tessellation to preserve appearance details. We present T$^2$-Splat, which decouples topology adaptation from appearance refinement. Safe Restricted Delaunay Triangulation (Safe RDT) initializes mesh connectivity. Dynamic Topology Evolution (DTE) then adapts triangle allocation through edge collapse and vertex split operations. Residual per-face Mip-textures then refine appearance on the fixed mesh using scale-adaptive filtering. Experiments on Mip-NeRF 360, Tanks & Temples, and DTU demonstrate competitive results with compact meshes. T$^2$-Splat improves PSNR by 0.71dB over MeshSplatting on Mip-NeRF 360. Additional compression experiments demonstrate flexible control of mesh complexity, supporting face budgets as low as 10% of the original face count. Project page: https://t2-splat.github.io/.

原文摘要

Radiologists interpret computed tomography (CT) scans by jointly determining what a finding represents and where it lies in three-dimensional (3D) anatomy. However, CT models have treated CT interpretation and 3D segmentation as separate tasks, leaving textual findings spatially unverifiable and overlooking potential synergy between clinical understanding and spatial perception. Here we present HoloCT, a generalist 3D foundation model unifying CT interpretation and voxel-level segmentation by jointly modelling whole-volume context and fine-grained anatomical detail, providing 3D masks as evidence. We curated HoloDATA, comprising 195,921 CT scans from 73 public datasets and six clinical cohorts, with 6.2 million instruction dialogues and 2.8 million CT-mask pairs. Across 346 tasks spanning segmentation, lesion screening, visual question answering, and report generation on 61 internal and 12 external datasets, HoloCT outperformed specialist and foundation models. In multicentre validation across 11,455 clinical CT scans from five hospitals, HoloCT outperformed competing models in lesion segmentation and report generation by 18.2 and 15.3 points. It also achieved 85.1% mean accuracy in screening thyroid tumours and colon lesions, exceeding all four participating radiologists in a retrospective reader study. Further analyses revealed bidirectional semantic-spatial synergy: language-guided segmentation delineated unseen anatomical structures and lesions as well as diffuse free-text findings, outperforming the leading approach by 22.1 points, whereas prompting the model to generate corresponding 3D masks alongside its textual outputs significantly improved interpretation performance. HoloCT shows that clinical understanding and spatial perception can be learned together within a single foundation model and offers a path towards more accurate and reliable CT analysis.

CoDecide: Content-Adaptive Video Decoding for High-Throughput Video Analytics

Shristy Shah, Thomas B. Moeslund, Kamal Nasrollahi

原文摘要

Analytics on video archives are bottlenecked by decoding. In a dense pipeline that runs a detector on every frame, decoding is a small fraction of the runtime, but once the detector is restricted to selected frames, decoding takes over as the main cost. We introduce CoDecide, a retrospective analytics system that only decodes the frames where new content appears, using signals from the compressed bitstream to find them. Motion tells us something is moving, but not whether it is new to the scene or has been there the whole time. To make that distinction, we supervise a lightweight compressed-domain student on a label-free novelty signal from a frozen DINOv2 teacher, which fires on semantically new regions rather than on any motion. Consequently, the student model generalizes to new camera deployments without requiring per-camera retraining. At inference, it decides which frames to decode and which regions to reconstruct. Detections from the decoded frames are propagated to the skipped frames using motion vectors. We evaluate CoDecide with a leave-one-dataset-out protocol on VIRAT, MEVA, and ShanghaiTech. Against a dense per-frame detector, CoDecide recovers more moving-object detections than prior compressed-domain selectors at an equivalent decoding budget, outperforming even a competitor trained directly on the target camera. CoDecide runs 15 to 24x faster than a pipeline that decodes and detects every frame. Code is available at https://github.com/shristy51/CoDecide.

Beyond Infraction Scores: Failure-Boundary Profiles for Closed-Loop Evaluation of Driving and Robot Navigation Agents

Milan Bulat, Gino Ardelean, Ellington Kirby

原文摘要

Closed-loop driving benchmarks in CARLA rank agents by a driving score that multiplies route completion by an infraction penalty. This score does not distinguish an agent that stops in front of an obstacle from one that pushes past it. In a corridor closed by two parked cars, for example, one agent that drives through with contact averages 52.2 on the blocked widths, while the agents that stop average between 37.8 and 40.6. We propose failure-boundary profiles, an evaluation in which each scenario family varies one measured factor, such as corridor width or the time gap in oncoming traffic, and each variant is certified from measurement as one where the agent should proceed or one where it should stop. Along this axis we estimate two curves per agent, commitment (the probability of attempting the passage) and competence (the probability of passing without contact), and locate where each crosses one half, with intervals that account for the simulator's run-to-run variance. The certified labels also give a summary metric, decision accuracy, which credits clean passes on passable variants and stops on blocked ones. We evaluate seven driving agents on seven CARLA families. The rule-based expert reaches a decision accuracy of 0.74 and TFv6, the highest-scoring learned agent, 0.60. Agents with similar driving scores fail in different ways, and agents that reliably stop at a blocked corridor still rarely wait for a gap in oncoming traffic. We also apply the method, unchanged, to a warehouse robot in Isaac Sim. The navigation policy we test stops at blocked gaps in only one of three families, and two fine-tuned versions of it pass more gaps cleanly but no longer stop at all.

Within-Family EfficientNet Scaling under Fixed-Resolution Transfer Learning for Spectral-Domain Optical Coherence Tomography Retinal Disease Classification

Shkelqim Sherifi

原文摘要

Background/Objectives: CNNs perform well in retinal disease classification from spectral-domain optical coherence tomography (SD-OCT), but whether EfficientNet's natural-image scaling hierarchy transfers to medical-image transfer learning at fixed resolution remains unclear. This study evaluates EfficientNet-B0-B7 for four-class SD-OCT classification and accuracy-efficiency trade-offs. Methods: Eight ImageNet-pretrained variants (4.05-64.10M instantiated backbone parameters) were evaluated at 224x224 on the Kermany dataset. Grayscale images were replicated to RGB and processed using model-embedded preprocessing and augmentation. Training comprised frozen-backbone head training followed by partial fine-tuning. Metrics covered classification, discrimination, efficiency, and visual analyses. Results: Test accuracy varied non-monotonically from 95.93% (B0) to 96.95% (B1); B7 achieved 96.73%. B1 had the highest accuracy and Drusen F1 (0.8780), while B7 had Drusen F1 of 0.8720 and the highest Drusen recall (0.9177). Drusen had the lowest F1 across all variants and contributed 82.2% of the summed squared deviation in class-specific F1; class ranking remained Normal > CNV > DME > Drusen. The OCT accuracy ranking differed from the reported ImageNet hierarchy, where B7 ranked first. The accuracy-to-parameter ratio fell from 19.82 to 1.48 percentage points per million total parameters. The final train-test gap had a weak, non-significant association with test accuracy (r = 0.26, p = 0.53). Conclusions: Larger EfficientNet variants did not consistently improve SD-OCT classification. B1 achieved the highest accuracy and Drusen F1, whereas B7 showed a secondary accuracy recovery at greater model size and CPU latency, indicating task and protocol dependent scaling effects. As cross-partition duplicates have not been independently audited, results are conditional on the supplied split.

GibbsLens: Training-Free Camera Control via Block-Conditional Gibbs Refinement

Yuzhu Wang, Xi Ye, Duo Su, Yangyang Xu, Jun Zhu

原文摘要

Training-free camera control for pretrained flow-matching video generators is a partial-observation inverse problem: a depth-warped guidance video supplies noisy evidence on a subset of latent sites, which the sampler must reconcile with the pretrained prior. Existing methods struggle to balance the trade-off between trajectory adherence and visual quality and the heuristic guidance-strength tuning lacks robustness. We propose GibbsLens, which resolves this dilemma through a structural change to the sampler: each outer hard-replacement guidance step is augmented with an inner-loop block-conditional pseudo-Gibbs refinement on the unobserved complement at the same noise level, with provable convergence to the partial-observation conditional data law. To accelerate convergence on high-dimensional video latents, we exploit their conditional locality, partitioning the unobserved complement into 3D patches, each tracked by a custom mixing indicator that adaptively freezes converged patches. On RealEstate10K and DAVIS, GibbsLens attains the best FVD against all seven training-free and training-based competitors, outperforming every training-free baseline on every reported metric. TOP: Transmission-Oriented Remote Sensing Pansharpening

Zi-Han Cao, Jing-Ze Liang, Shao-Jie Wu, Jin-Cheng Di, Liang-Jian Deng, Gemine Vivone

原文摘要

Pansharpening has been extensively studied as a fundamental image fusion task in remote sensing. However, most existing methods focus on improving fusion quality under the implicit assumption that high-resolution observations have already been fully downlinked to the ground. As a result, existing models are highly vulnerable to perturbations introduced by lossy compression used for downlink transmission. To address this limitation, we present, to the best of our knowledge, the first transmission oriented pansharpening (TOP) framework, which unifies compact latent coding, onboard pansharpening, and efficient downlink transmission within a single satellite-toground pipeline. TOP encodes remote-sensing observations into a compact binary latent space, where a lightweight onboard fusion module can efficiently predict the fused binary latent code. Since only the compact fused code is downlinked, the transmission payload is substantially reduced. Overall, TOP enables low-payload downlink and lightweight onboard processing while maintaining high fusion quality under severe bandwidth constraints. Experiments across multispectral and hyperspectral settings show that TOP consistently achieves superior fusion quality at higher compression ratios than representative pansharpening methods paired with standard lossy codecs. For example, on GaoFen-2, TOP attains a fusion PSNR of 31.4 dB at a downlink compression ratio of 50x. This design also points toward transmissionoriented processing for other remote-sensing tasks. The code will be made available at https://github.com/JingZe-Liang/TOP.git.
